Robert Pattinson: I’m So Eager To Start Working On "Mission: Blacklist"
Robert Pattinson: I’m So Eager To Start Working On "Mission: Blacklist". It’s going to be a f***ing great film.
Rob spoke to Premiere.Fr about his new project.
Lots of new info below. Check it out. SO exciting!
Translation (BIG Thanks To our reader LittleSeaSparrow for doing it)
If you want to read the original french article go HERE
Robert Pattinson, who may surprise more than one in three weeks when Cosmopolis will be presented at Cannes, is not visibly stopping there. In a shift to "adult" movies the Twilight star will continue with Mission: Blacklist, the new film by Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire, the 2008 director of the impressive Johnny Mad Dog.
A thriller based on the book by Eric Maddox, the military interrogator who was the brains of the operation that led to the capture of Saddam Hussein in December 2003. Erik Jendresen, writer of the series Band of Brothers, was responsible for adapting. Shooting is scheduled to begin in the fall.
"We are going to scout locations in Iraq soon"
"As director Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire normally does not work with professional actors, I thought I had no hope of getting the part says Rob [to the journalist of Première].
But we met several times and we got on really well together. Sauvaire has found
a very exciting way of filming this. It’s strange, as it is a war film, but it’s shown mainly though the military interrogations done by Maddox. Language and the barriers it may create play a very important part. The focus is mainly on the real-life story of this military interrogator, Eric Maddox, who will soon come with us in Iraq to do a
series of location scoutings."
Rob goes on : The director, Sauvaire, is really an astonishing person. He’s got a gift for meeting
people. He thus met and spent some time talking with the Iraqi Minister for Culture, quite by chance. He also bumped into a guy who was one of the former leaders of the Hussein clan and who had been very close to Saddam. I asked Sauvaire, ‘But how do you do it to get to know a guy
like that ?’ and it turned out that Sauvaire had just bumped across the guy in a bar in Paris ! . After Johnny Mad Dog, an ultra-violent film which immersed the viewer directly into the day to
day life of African child-soldiers, and which was shot in Liberia, Sauvaire seems to have found an ideal theme for his explosive vision.
Johnny Mad Dog was an extremely strong film, which had all the value of a
real documentary, while having a great cinematic quality , says Rob,
enthusing over the film. I’m so eager to start working with Sauvaire
on Mission: Blacklist. It’s going to be a f***ing great film.

A MUST READ - Robert Pattinson's "Cosmopolis" Production Notes
A MUST READ - Robert Pattinson's "Cosmopolis" Production Notes
You can download the FULL production notes HERE. They really are worth checking out. Great read and insight into the movie.
Here is a taster (obviously I'm only including the parts where Rob is mentioned)
CASTING
David Cronenberg and long-time collaborator, casting director Deirdre Bowen, have
assembled a remarkable cast, with talent from America, Canada, England, and France. The
script is character-driven—much of the plot involves short, intense encounters between the
protagonist and the secondary characters. The dialogue is central and often demanding.
Eric Packer’s personality and psychological journey unfolds in a series of close interactions
with the people of the cosmopolis—his employees, lovers and enemies. Choosing the lead
actor was crucial, of course, and because the rest of cast would have to work briefly but
intimately with the lead, supporting roles also required strong casting.
“Casting is a black art,” proclaims David Cronenberg. “You can kill your movie by making a
mistake before you’ve even shot film.” When Robert Pattinson’s name was proposed for the
lead role of Packer, Cronenberg watched much of his work—including the young actor’s role
as Salvador Dali in Little Ashes—and he was sold: “Rob was the most interesting and
exciting actor suggested for COSMOPOLIS, and I knew that he would bring something
wonderful to the screen—maybe even something he didn’t know he had.” (Kate: I think I love this man. Second to Rob of course ;-})
Under David’s direction, Robert delivers an edgy, understated performance. In fact, Robert notes that he
has never felt “utilized to this degree as an actor,” and fellow cast member Paul Giamatti
describes Robert’s casting as “genius.” (Kate: Couldn't agree more!)

Robert Pattinson, David Cronenberg & Don Delillo Talk "Cosmopolis" (Original Interview Not Translated)
Robert Pattinson, David Cronenberg & Don Delillo Talk "Cosmopolis" (Original Interview Not Translated)
You may remember we had this interview with Rob, David & Don yesterday but it was a google translated version.
Well this time your brain doesn't need to hurt as you read it because it's not translated anymore it's the original interview.
Enjoy
Oooh and WARNING there are some spoliers!
ROB'S INTERVIEW
Were you familiar with Don DeLillo’s novel?
No. But I had read some of his other novels. I first read the screenplay David Cronenberg sent me, and then the novel. One is incredibly true to the other, it is faithful in a way that seems impossible, for a novel that see med impossible to adapt. But even before reading the book, what impressed me the most about the script was the quick-paced rhythm and the unrelenting tension.
What was it about this film that appealed to you the most?
Cronenberg, obviously! I have played in only a few films, and none of them came close to what I expected working with him would be like. I wasn’t disappointed… I knew he would be very creative, and that it would be a real experience. And I was appealed by the writing of the script, like a kind of long poem. And a mysterious poem too. Usually when you read a script, you quickly know what it is about, where it is going, how it will end, even if there might be unexpected or sophisticated twists and turns in the plot. But this time it
was completely different, the further I read, the less I could figure out where it was leading, and the more I wanted to be a part of it. It doesn’t fit any film genre whatsoever, it is in a league of its own.

"Cosmopolis" Teaser Seismically Shifts Critics Perceptions About Robert Pattinson
"Cosmopolis" Teaser Seismically Shifts Critics Perceptions About Robert Pattinson
Yes the critics are finally realising what we've known for years!
Check out this GREAT article by Page Mackinley for Movievine.com:
Revolutions are usually bloody affairs. Sweaty, shouty, violent things that leave a grim taste in the mouth . But sometimes, just sometimes, they’re golden. March 22 was such a day. That was the day, of course, that the online release of David Cronenberg’s first Cosmopolis teaser 180’d the majority critical perception of Robert Pattinson. Critics, film outlets, and a multitude of industry commentators previously queueing up to disparage Pattinson’s acting abilities are now saying just the opposite. In fact, they’re openly rapturous.
Unwilling – or perhaps unable – to see past Summit Entertainment’s YA-geared marketing of Pattinson, as the sensitive vampire rejuvenated by his love for a human teenager, most critics recoiled as Pattinson’s public persona became inextricably entwined with that of the fictional “super boy-friend” Edward Cullen. As The Twilight Saga franchise’s star rose – and that of its young leads – so did the derision.
..........
But now, remarkably, everything has changed. To quote an apt phrase; What a difference a day makes. 30 seconds of eye-popping imagery, scenes of Pattinson evidently well out of his comfort zone, have kicked off a chorus of delighted shock and optimism about Cosmopolis, the return of “old school” Cronenberg, and his rebooted and re-loaded leading man.

I Lived Through Robert Pattinson's "Bel Ami"
I think it's only fair to let you know there are a few spoilers below
Yes can you believe it? I saw DuRob and I lived to tell the tale!
I knew it was my duty to come back and report to you all. I think that's the only reason I managed to survive.
If there’s anything I haven’t covered in my review or anything you specifically want to know make sure and ask in the comments and I’ll try and answer as best I can (IF I can remember, I’m still in a bit of DuRob haze :-))
Also the directors Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod introduced the movie at the festival and were supposed to be doing a Q&A afterwards but for some reason that didn't happen.
I videoed the introduction where they spoke about the movie and Rob (it's funny) so in case you missed it, you can check that out HERE
As you all know, I was beyond excited to have the chance to see the Irish Premiere of “Bel Ami” at the Jameson International Dublin Film Festival last Sunday.
I went in to watch the film with an open and unbiased mind as possible because I wanted to give a frank and fair review and not just talk about Rob’s ass (as fine as it was) because believe me there is a LOT more to “Bel Ami”.
You can see that it really was a labour of love for all those involved.
So here goes..........................
The movie is beautifully shot, hard to believe that it’s Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod’s first time directing a movie. The sets that they used are simply stunning as are the many close-ups of Rob's gorgeous face.
And the costumes, well, we all know how good Robert Pattinson looks in (and out) of period clothes.
“Bel Ami” is the type of movie that I wouldn’t worry about recommending to my non-Rob fan friends. I’m quite sure they’d enjoy it because I feel that there is something in “Bel Ami” to satisfy everyone.
I was expecting a very dark movie and while it was quite a dark in parts I was surprised that there are quite a few light scenes that had me grinning and laughing. There were giggles from the audience throughout. The scene that caused the biggest giggle was when Georges had managed to bed all three of the women and after at dinner he glanced from one to the other and gave this devilish grin of satisfaction. You could just imagine his inner voice saying “I am the Boss”

There's still another part that's not available yet but you know once it is, we'll be posting it. Maybe we should keep posting the presscon until we can all recite it and preform it on stage?
