eOnline mentions Robert Pattinson taking a business meeting earlier this week

Photobucket

It's hard to tell how much salt we need lately with entertainment sites we regularly posted before the you know but this excerpt from eOnline is positive news if true:
As for Robert Pattinson? He's working away. A source told E! News the 26-year-old Brit attended a business meeting Tuesday afternoon in Beverly Hills. He's also on board for Cosmopolis promotion, beginning with an appearance on The Daily Show Monday. He's also scheduled to do Good Morning America Wednesday morning.
Mission: Blacklist should be on the horizon so I wonder if it was a meeting for that film or possibly a new one. Love hearing about WorkingManRob.

Gossip Cop clears up rumors of Robert Pattinson appearances for Cosmopolis - Rob rep speaks

Gossip Cop clears up rumors of Robert Pattinson appearances for Cosmopolis - Rob rep speaks

Photobucket

Gossip Cop spoke to a rep from Rob's camp. THANK GOD! There are no cancellations:
Pattinson “just cancelled an upcoming U.S. press appearance to promote his film Cosmopolis,” reports ETOnline. According to the site, the movie star has backed out of the commitment because he “isn’t quite ready to face the media in the wake of girlfriend Kristen Stewart’s cheating scandal.” Interestingly, ETOnline makes no mention of which appearance Pattinson supposedly backed out of or when it was supposed to take place.

But Gossip Cop has learned the claim is a complete FABRICATION.

A rep for the actor tells Gossip Cop, Cosmopolis is a film that Robert is very proud of and looks forward to supporting.

“No confirmed engagements have been canceled,” says the rep, adding, “Any reports to the contrary are inaccurate.”
This has Nick written all over it, non? Man...my mood swings are giving me whiplash. I've crossed out the previous report from ETonline but BAT4Rob still stands.

According to ETonline & Jarett (senior editor of ET), Rob has cancelled a press appearance for Cosmopolis:
Robert Pattinson pulled out of the Cosmopolis junket on Aug. 11, studio confirms
No mention of the premiere in NYC on Aug. 13th though Rob's appearance has not been mentioned. Also, no mention of a cancellation for the Times Talk event on Aug. 15th. We'll keep you posted.

I'm pretty shattered for him about this since we know how proud of Cosmopolis Rob is. I'm 110% understanding and supportive of his silence and his seculsion. It makes complete sense considering his circumstances. I want him to take as long as he needs to cope with this awful private mess made public.

If you want to support Rob, the BEST way is to go out, and see Cosmopolis

Be assertive. Find those listings in your city, the next city. Hell, make a vacay out of it and go with some girlfriends to a neighboring state. Just go.

Buy those tickets even if you can't go. BAT for Rob, remember??
Buy A Ticket for Rob even if the theater isn't near you.

We love and support Rob and can't wait to see Cosmopolis.

Keep a look out on the blog. We'll be posting info about the film (reviews, theater info, news) regularly. Also check the Cosmopolis tag on the blog HERE to keep up to date.

When Rob was announced to star as Eric Maddox in Jean-Stephane Sauvaire's film, Mission: Blacklist, many of us rushed to purchase the book written by Maddox. Problem was about a week later, the books dried up and the eBook availability disappeared.

Well it's a problem no longer! The book is available for Kindle readers :)) Hope you enjoy the read. I can definitely see Rob playing this character and can't wait to see it.

Maybe Mr. Carratier found out this info from Rob's interview with Premiere but like most of Rob's career moves these days, we're going to have to wait and see what happens when.

Thanks Sky for the heads up :)

VIDEOS: Robert Pattinson talks boxer briefs, Princess Leia, his father role and hoping we all stick with him post-Twilight

UPDATE: Added a video at the bottom of Mackenzie talking about Rob and Kristen as parents

Here's another batch of good interviews.

OnTheRedCarpet: This one is great. Rob has the man-giggles on show but towards the end when he's talking about his future, he mentions he feels he's a good judge of material and hopes Twilight fans will stick with him. He also recognizes that the fans follow the other projects he does. GOOD! We're in this for the long haul. The DR is a permanent dwelling. ;)

Yahoo: Rob mentions boxer briefs here and that's always fun. The question happens at 1:54 and Rob is right after Kellan answers. The second Rob part is just after Taylor when they ask Rob if he digs classic Princess Leia look or Gold Bikini Leia. Which one do you think he chooses?

ShowBiz411: Rob talks about not really having to fill the dad role much in the film. I doubt that. We're all going to be piles of goo with the lullaby... *sigh*

Robert Pattinson is "the perfect choice" for Georges Duroy and he is finally in US theaters this weekend

Robert Pattinson is "the perfect choice" for Georges Duroy and he is finally in US theaters this weekend

UPDATE: Two great reviews came out for the Bel Ami release in the US!

The San Francisco Chronicle reviewed Bel Ami and they gave Rob great compliments!
From this day on, Pattinson cannot be written off as the pale, neurasthenic fellow who would really like to kiss Kristen Stewart in the "Twilight" movies, but he's afraid he'll rip her veins out.
In fact, if "Bel Ami" is any indication, Pattinson should be known as a very good actor.
...
What distinguishes Pattinson in the role is the sense he conveys of someone roiling and churning beneath a surface that is almost, but not quite, calm.
At various times in "Bel Ami," Pattinson registers unexpressed terror, shame, rage and scorn, so that it is impossible not to recognize and even start to feel his tension and to understand the life-and-death consequences behind his every interaction. Young Georges (Pattinson) has nothing and yet finds himself traveling in upper-class Parisian circles - with people who have everything, who know his every move in advance and who would be just as happy to see him land back in the gutter.
...
It's a pleasure to watch him onscreen and wait for the explosion.

Salon gave Bel Ami the "Pick of the Week" calling it an "enjoyably soapy 19th-century costume drama". An excerpt from their review:
It’s legitimate to dislike this film, of course; one of the things I appreciated about “Bel Ami,” perhaps perversely, is how forcefully it resists easy enjoyment. But I think “Bel Ami” has been criticized in some quarters for being exactly what it sets out to be, a trashy, high-culture morality tale with an unpleasant hero and a bleak view of human relations. Pattinson plays Georges throughout as an unsophisticated country boy whose desires and appetites are almost animalistic. He can be a friendly, loyal dog or a scheming, hungry wolf, but the world of high-society Paris rapidly educates him about which of those personas is more conducive to advancement.

The time has arrived, USA. Bel Ami is finally showing in theaters. Near you? Well that's a different story but we'll get there in a moment. I'm sure many of you have already seen the film if you live in certain countries and many of you have seen the film on VOD when it was released May 4th in the US. However, we need to give Rob support in the theaters. The release is limited so if the theaters are near you, make an outing of it and enjoy DuRob on the big screen. My viewings will take place Sunday and I can't wait to see him the way I should have always seen him. LARGE!

Click HERE to visit MovieTickets and search for a theater near you. The release is limited so you still might have a hard time finding the film locally. If it is local, GO SUPPORT ROB! Magnolia Pictures has theaters and dates on their site as well but not all theaters.

More Bel Ami goodies after the cut to celebrate the US release!

Robert Pattinson's Cosmopolis hits US theaters August 17th - LA and NYC first

Indiewire broke the news and we finally have a release date for Cosmopolis in the states:
Entertainment One Films US has set a date for David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis." On August 17th, the film will open in New York and Los Angeles, expanding into additional markets soon after.
Based on the novel by Don DeLillo, the film stars Robert Pattinson as a 28-year old financial whiz kid who heads out in his tricked-out stretch limo to get a haircut from his father’s old barber. Along the way, he's joined by a cast including Juliette Binoche, Sarah Gadon, Mathieu Amalric, Jay Baruchel, Emily Hampshire, Samantha Morton and Paul Giamatti.

...

Entertainment One is releasing the film in the US well after it does so in Canada and the UK, where release dates are set for June 8th and June 15th, respectively.

Canada and UK! Make sure you see the film this weekend and next! Support Rob :)

This video is from set interviews with Rob and David. It's dubbed but transcript of Rob's part is right under the video. :) Cutie in the yellow shirt!

Translation by @london_robsten
Rob: I was interested in the script because it looked like a long and mysterious poem. Usually when you read a script you suddenly get what it’s about, where it’s going and how it will end.

Rob: This time was different because the more I kept reading it the more I didn’t seem to understand where it was going but more I wanted to be in the movie. That movie doesn’t belong to any genre it’s on its own.

Rob: It was hard to interpret a character who doesn’t go trough an evident evolution or follow a predictable path, I mean it does but it’s an incredible evolution that doesn’t happen in the same in which the characters usually change. David was able to control the whole thing I’ve never worked with a director that has such  control over his movie and consider himself the head of every aspects of it.
Sarah Gadon was also interviewed recently and mentioned Rob and Eric. Excerpt from the Toronto Standard, Part 1 of their interview with Sarah Gadon:
It sounds reductive, but I found Elise pretty enigmatic, because we only see her from Eric’s perspective in the book and through their detached communication. How do you pick up on queues beyond the script? When you’re sharing scenes?
SG: More than what goes on in the book—or the script—your character is defined by who’s cast as the lead. Whoever’s cast in the Eric Packer role defines the standard of normalcy in the script. But I like that Elise and Eric don’t know each other. It’s rare to play against a romantic lead while the action in the script is based on that fact.

What is Cronenberg’s involvement? I’ve heard there are no rehearsals.
SG: No, we don’t do rehearsals. But David does a very thorough blocking of the scene before going to camera. It’s like a mini rehearsal where we work out the movement of the scene. But I feel less rehearsal added to the project. There’s so much secrecy, security and mythology surrounding Rob as a person that when you arrive on set and do your scene with this actor and never spend any significant time with them, it feels bizarre. That’s what our characters are like: Two people who don’t know anything about each other. They never seem to find each other and when they’re together and it’s like they’re speaking two different languages. And then they both disappear into the city.

Right, Eric is hermetically sealed from the city in this marble-lined limo and Elise is a recluse. They’re removed from the city—
SG: Right. And because we shot a lot in the studio, we felt so far removed from everything. That’s what I like about the characters. They’re in New York City, but they never interact with their environment. It’s almost alarming whenever the environment interacts with them.

(Tink: This answer doesn't mention Rob but I really liked what she said about Cosmopoolis)

John Updike, reviewing Cosmopolis in the New Yorker, saw the book as “Nouveau roman meets Manhattan geography under sci-fi moonlight.” Nouveau roman places character at the feet of details in the surrounding world and the other people there. It’s like: sketch plot, pencil in character and drop them into their surroundings.
SG: But it’s troubling to categorize the book as Nouveau roman or sci-fi because that misses the mark. I see DeLillo removing his characters from their environment in order to call attention to that remove. It’s the lack that you have to focus on. He’s not weaving them into their environment so he can call attention to capitalism and its breakdown—it’s the opposite. David does the same thing in the film. He’s not trying to weave you into the narrative emotionally. He’s trying to create a distantiation where you can intellectualize the material on screen versus committing emotionally to some sort of narrative. You’re being provoked and frustrated into thinking about the system.

So what commentary does the film make? The book is pretty condemning—
SG: Yeah! This is for the one percent descending from their yacht at Cannes to watch a film that points to a gap in society. I think the movie lends itself to a meta-critique of the film industry. Take casting someone like Rob at the centre of this film. He is the symbol of pop cinema, the symbol of capitalism. The film is about the breakdown of that.

And his character’s so hubristic. He tries to tap into this technological system that’s supposed to order the world around him, the dollars and cents of his life, the free market. And we watch it all fall—really hard.
SG: When I read critiques of the film, I think people miss what you’re saying. They ask, “Why is Robert Pattinson in this movie?” Even for David to cast somebody like me who is blonde, blue-eyed and twenty-five and normally reads scripts where I am hyper sexualized or solve everyone’s problem with my smile. He cast me as a character who will not allow her romantic lead to project anything onto her that she will absorb, it’s kind of unheard of. And there is a difference between [Elise] in the book and the Elise that David wrote. In that the last scene between Eric and Elise, in the book, Eric projects onto an accepting Elise. For me, the best part about ending their narrative in the restaurant, in the movie, is that she ends it and she’s out and that’s it.

Robert Pattinson interview with RTL: "People can think whatever they want"

Robert Pattinson interview with RTL: "People can think whatever they want"

Translation UPDATE: The ladies in the comments added some edits to the translation, especially what the commentary was :)
Rob: When I read the script, as soon as you read the script, it's like: wow, it's so different from anything I did before. It's the kind of challenge I look for as an actor. I mean no one else but me got that role. And then I read the script, I really liked the style of it. It was well structured and really easy to read as well.

If Robert Pattinson made young girls fall in love with him, he only has eyes for her, Kristen Stewart, who became just as famous with the Twilight saga. For the both of them, it's not as easy anymore to live a normal life.

Rob: There's no point in worrying about it. And also, when you come to Cannes, you have to expect all this activity around you. People can think whatever they want.
Live your life, Rob, and love it. I demand nothing and love that you share your talents. As a fan, I support you 110% and appreciate the marks you're making in film.

Robert Pattinsonioni talks to TF1 (Paris) about Breaking Dawn, his career plans and more

He starts off this interview talking about the first last day being depressing. That resonated with me. It was depressing to watch on camera too (Bella & Jacob dance). Other highlights:
  • I love the way he said "huuuuge"
  • I swooned at this quote: People meet each other and they want to fight to maintain a relationship for the rest of their lives. I don't see why that would be a crazy idea.
  • He changes his name
  • Rob wants to work with great directors who know how to make movies
Good interview :)
