It's to be expected that the angle they would choose is *love triangle* it sets it up for Eclipse... I'm looking at this poster and fixating on Diane's comment (@10:30) that put the words 'Robward''finger' and 'porn' in the same sentence! Now I'm reaaaaally hot and bothered!
I don't think they will lose sight of that. From everything Rob, Kris and CW have said, they all get that it's not really a love triangle, at least not in Bella's eyes ... not even in Eclipse. Even then, when she knows Jacob would be the more practical choice, and that there is some love for him, she also knows he never had a chance. It's only a triangle in Edward and Jacob's eyes.
And you know, looking at it again, I can see where people (who didn't know the book) would think ... "what the hell, I thought she was with the vampire..." and I think that might be part of the point of the poster, to catch the interest and make people who haven't read the books want to find out what happened.
But to readers, who sit and (over)analyze everything, it tells a much better story. I think it would be better if they were spread a part some, if she wasn't touching Jacob. I think that's where the real frustration is coming from, especially from the teenies on L&L. I'm sure people will be happier when the ExB one comes out. But right now, this is about capturing people's interest, and I think it will do that.

I really like the poster. Robward looks so yummy, and all the facial expressions are so right on. I'm so glad they do realize,lol, the success of the film is because of the way we feel about Robward. Some people have a problem with it because Taylor isn't as tall as the poster represents, well no kidding. He isn't 6 foot 7 right, but with the magic of film, I'm sure they will make him taller than what he is. So I'm sure that's why the poster shows him taller that he probably is. And he does look quite buff. I also was thinking Jake should have a pony-tail, but then he does cut that off when he goes all wolfy, right?

I´m starting to doubt if this is fan made, but if it is... it is hella good!! because of the height for example.. This Jacob is not as tall as Edward, but Taylor is not as tall against Rob as he looks in the poster either.. I don´t know, ittle things make me confuse.. maybe this is one of the posters, and it has been strategically leaked to test it into fan sites, to see if it is positive the reaction, if not, they could be using as official another in a few hours.
I really like this poster. And I'm liking Robward looking more like Rob; the black v-neck, with the button up shirt partially buttoned, and the black pants. All that's missing are the shiteous Nikes.

Umm I love it of course. Im glad Edward looks "more real" than on the Twilight poster.
To me this poster emphasizes more the rivalry between Jacob and Edward, rather than the emptiness or loss (of Bella). And I think it's a pity. The rivalry doesn't exist yet in New Moon. But I'm glad Bella is not touching Edward...he's out of reach in this book anyway.
I prefer how Bella looks on this one. She was too schoolgirl for me on the Twilight poster. You can sense her maturity here.
I wish she was looking at Edward though, she's always searching for him. But in the meantime, she's the one who tells the story so it kinda makes sense that she's looking at us, to draw our attention.
Anyways, I'm happy to see Edward back. Jacob? tall, small, buffed, skinny I.Don't.Care!!! I think Taylor is cute, hot, not too bad (pick up your favourite) but I just can't bare (to be polite) the Character of Jacob: for some many reasons that can make me do an essay about it. You're not wrong about the theme (riddle is also right about that, I hadn't thought about it), but look at Robward... who cares about themes, plots and a photoshopped Bella when Rob is looking that yummy :)
I just saw fans manip of L&L on the poster: I think it's innocent and cute:))) it made me smile cause it reveals something underneath, that maybe young girls don't know how to express it :) I think it's more than just a "I want Edward to stay with Bella cause he's a vampire and he's hot" thing. Plus I do think than during our first infatuation we don't always know how to be protective, we just feel the need to be and do random things to express it: This manip is one of them :)
well ok Robward looks good(Bella bored and Jacob whatever),but I can't get over how totally wrong the poster is,not capturing the essence of NM at all. pisses me off this.
Actually there is another theory: There's resentment in Jacob's look (because he knows that Bella can't get over Edward and won't move on)
but Edward posture may say that he's about to leave but can't help looking behind (which means he will never get over it neither). He is not getting protective or ready to fight or something. Actually, he's back is not that close to Jacob's which gives the impression that the 2 oters are on Edward's background. When you see it that way, Jacob is the only one who expresses rivalry, Edward is...just looking behind and a bit tortured. He's not considering Jacob at all. I don't know, the more I look at it the more I feel Edward is in a bubble. From this POV the poster captures the general mood of the book.
Bella called Jacob her safe harbour, so it really makes sense that her closeness to Jacob is emphasized.
well I'm not sure the poster is that inappropriat for the story really. I don't see a love triangle there; Bella is looking kind of empty, clinging at Jacob for support but not looking at him. Like it or not (and I sure don't), the Jacob/Bella relationship is at the centre of the book...

I personally don't care that much for the Twilight series, and as far as I'm concerned, they could get rid of Jacob altogether and fill in the gap with steamy sex scenes between Robward and Bella :p

No but seriousely I understand your remarks :) However, I do think New Moon is about Edward too: Edward is gone, and all what happens is because of him: the vampires hunting Bella, Bella getting needy and seeking comfort, and then getting closer to Jacob: Bella first goes to see Jacob for the motorcycles!!! she can be reckless while with Jacob, and thus can do dangerous stuff..........in order to hear Edward's voice. Edward is always in Bella's mind And ours!!! He's not absent, and they have (and chose) to show that part that you feel in the book and which has to be in the movie. The poster is here to draw attention and to reflect the movie: in my humble opinion, it's not a bad thing that they are playing on Edward being more present, it's a strategic move and people are studying and working hard to get this right, and it doesn't mean that they ignore the core of the story: they are just trying to balance things.
However, I agree with you about Edward's style. But you still may find a message in it. I don't know how to express it, but the way Edward is dressed kinda reflects melancoly and wandering (don't know if I'm making my self clear but this is how I feel)

But (whether the teenies want to believe this or not) Summit is well aware of what the fans want, and if Edward was in the back, the vast majority would have had a shit fit, especially since they are already bitching about too much Jacob in this poster.
conundrum. i saw the movie and it's almost a rule with me that i have to read the book before i watch the movie so now i can't read the first book, but how can i read the second book if i've never read the first book? what to do?

The only thing that makes this Edward and not Rob would be the wristcuff (and the lack of scruff). The v-neck and shirt feels more Rob than Edward.

This Jacob is not as tall as Edward, but Taylor is not as tall against Rob as he looks in the poster either.. I don´t know, ittle things make me confuse.. maybe this is one of the posters, and it has been strategically leaked to test it into fan sites, to see if it is positive the reaction, if not, they could be using as official another in a few hours.

I really like this poster. And I'm liking Robward looking more like Rob; the black v-neck, with the button up shirt partially buttoned, and the black pants. All that's missing are the shiteous Nikes.

ReplyDeleteTo me this poster emphasizes more the rivalry between Jacob and Edward, rather than the emptiness or loss (of Bella). And I think it's a pity. The rivalry doesn't exist yet in New Moon. But I'm glad Bella is not touching Edward...he's out of reach in this book anyway.
I prefer how Bella looks on this one. She was too schoolgirl for me on the Twilight poster. You can sense her maturity here.
I wish she was looking at Edward though, she's always searching for him. But in the meantime, she's the one who tells the story so it kinda makes sense that she's looking at us, to draw our attention.
Anyways, I'm happy to see Edward back. Jacob? tall, small, buffed, skinny I.Don't.Care!!! I think Taylor is cute, hot, not too bad (pick up your favourite) but I just can't bare (to be polite) the Character of Jacob: for some many reasons that can make me do an essay about it. I just saw fans manip of L&L on the poster: I think it's innocent and cute:))) it made me smile cause it reveals something underneath, that maybe young girls don't know how to express it :)

Plus I do think than during our first infatuation we don't always know how to be protective, we just feel the need to be and do random things to express it: This manip is one of them :)
well ok Robward looks good(Bella bored and Jacob whatever),but I can't get over how totally wrong the poster is,not capturing the essence of NM at all. pisses me off this.

ReplyDeleteActually there is another theory: There's resentment in Jacob's look (because he knows that Bella can't get over Edward and won't move on)
but Edward posture may say that he's about to leave but can't help looking behind (which means he will never get over it neither). He is not getting protective or ready to fight or something. Actually, he's back is not that close to Jacob's which gives the impression that the 2 oters are on Edward's background. When you see it that way, Jacob is the only one who expresses rivalry, Edward is...just looking behind and a bit tortured. He's not considering Jacob at all. I don't know, the more I look at it the more I feel Edward is in a bubble. From this POV the poster captures the general mood of the book.
Bella called Jacob her safe harbour, so it really makes sense that her closeness to Jacob is emphasized.
well I'm not sure the poster is that inappropriat for the story really. I don't see a love triangle there; Bella is looking kind of empty, clinging at Jacob for support but not looking at him. Like it or not (and I sure don't), the Jacob/Bella relationship is at the centre of the book...

i dont know about the poster...i think...and dont kill me for saying this...that edward should be in the back...behind jacob and bella...i mean bella is the protagonist for gods sake and she is in the back!! and edward is missing for half the story and he gets to be in the full front? i dont get it...

ReplyDeleteI personally don't care that much for the Twilight series, and as far as I'm concerned, they could get rid of Jacob altogether and fill in the gap with steamy sex scenes between Robward and Bella :p

ReplyDeleteNo but seriousely I understand your remarks :) However, I do think New Moon is about Edward too: Edward is gone, and all what happens is because of him: the vampires hunting Bella, Bella getting needy and seeking comfort, and then getting closer to Jacob: Bella first goes to see Jacob for the motorcycles!!! she can be reckless while with Jacob, and thus can do dangerous stuff..........in order to hear Edward's voice. Edward is always in Bella's mind And ours!!! He's not absent, and they have (and chose) to show that part that you feel in the book and which has to be in the movie. The poster is here to draw attention and to reflect the movie: in my humble opinion, it's not a bad thing that they are playing on Edward being more present, it's a strategic move and people are studying and working hard to get this right, and it doesn't mean that they ignore the core of the story: they are just trying to balance things.
However, I agree with you about Edward's style. But you still may find a message in it. I don't know how to express it, but the way Edward is dressed kinda reflects melancoly and wandering (don't know if I'm making my self clear but this is how I feel)

But (whether the teenies want to believe this or not) Summit is well aware of what the fans want, and if Edward was in the back, the vast majority would have had a shit fit, especially since they are already bitching about too much Jacob in this poster.
conundrum. i saw the movie and it's almost a rule with me that i have to read the book before i watch the movie so now i can't read the first book, but how can i read the second book if i've never read the first book? what to do?
