  2. Jan 26 works for me...although, I was hoping to ask Santa Baby to put it in my stocking for Christmas. Guess I'll just have to make due with Twilight and How To Be for an extra month LOL

  5. I've always been moved by that picture of Rob as Dali. His expression is haunting. He is able to convey so much emotion with his eyes.

  12. Emily - I agree! Rob's just amazing in any role. He really identifies with all of them. Even an eccentric man like Dali.

I'm so stoked for this release because a release in the US means a release in Canada! :) Yay!

Though I'm sad that that would mean a direct-to-DVD (is that the term?)release here.

  27. I'm awfully sorry that I deleted two comments - which were done much too fast - before I really had read everything...

    But - now! Finally!

I own all films with Robert Pattinson. Little Ashes is not to be compared with Twilight or Harry Potter, this is a serious film - indie - about three artists who all became very famous Lorca (poet), Bunuel (cinema), Dali (painter), who happened to live in the same house during their time at the University of Madrid in the twenties of last century.
They were attracted to each other, sexually and intellectually, and their relationship is well-researched and it is fiction based on letters and documents.
The film has nothing to do with Robert Pattinson as his girly fandom sees him, OMG, they should not watch the film, they wouldn't understand it, or, better, they would completely misunderstand it and his the character he plays.
Number One - this is a silent film with nuances that make it unforgettable. I have watched it several times and will again, and have been profoundly touched by the story. I happen to be a fan of the three artists and have been admiring Dali for more than 40 years and... after this film, I am sure, this young actor Robert Pattinson really is a tribute to this incredibly sensitive and bizarre personality...

So, if you are interested in art, in history and in the shattering of dreams, homosexual love and shattered relationships, then you should watch it -
But your dreams of Edward Cullen will be spoiled, your admiration for Robert Pattinson will grow....

    ReplyDelete
  28. LadyArt - You said it all! And so true. A lot of my friends don't want to see him in this movie because they're afraid it will ruin "Edward". Hmmpf.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I think I could stare at that picture all day. So gorgeous! Love the movie ordered it from amazon uk. It will only play on my computer. Just so ya know. I enjoy the making of the film too. There's a part where rob doesn't know he's being filmed and totally being himself. Check it out. Thud!

  55. Last night I started reading Wicked Lady. Salvadore Dalí's Muse by Tim McGirk, first published in 1989. Some weeks ago my best friend gave it to me by coincidence, not knowing I watched Little Ashes.
I just read the first 90 pages, and it's all there: Dalís hysterical giggles, his fears, his voyeurism, the nude picture of Gala her husband Éluard carried around and showed to all his friends.

  56. @ JandR: The fingernails of a guitar player.

  59. GOROB: I don't know if you are still checking this topic, but I don't know how else to let you know.

the very nice Mr. Miguel Mera will be in touch as soon as the soundtrack is available for download. He's waiting on Factotum (Barcelona.) There is no score or sheet music available either which is a pity!

Can you post if you read this and I'll check to see if you have? If not, I'll see if I can find you on another topic sometime.
