Hi CullenLoverSmelledThePretty! Why not start some kind of contest to see who comes up with the best word for our Pattinsonian dictionnary to really explain what this man is?
I have to say, can I just tell you how much I love DeantheUberBodyguard?!?!?! I mean, I love the fact that he is always there for our man, no matter what he needs.
@sissidelyon--[waving] there should be a contest and then we can enter the new word (s) into the Urban Dictionary. How does one go about starting a contest....any ideas?

Just randomly saw a YouTube video of him at an airport getting into a taxi (alone)and this woman jumps at him and kisses him, he looked mortified and still smiling, hoped into the nearest taxi.
I think he loves the fact that Dean is there, just not lovin' the fact that he needs him. There's lots of crazies out there.
I agree, it's tipped into weird territory. I understand Dean accompanying Rob to and from set, and even escorting him around such a large lot. But in the night running still, it looks as if Dean is even there in the background! Who knows, maybe he's helping Rob set a pace!!
But seriously, he sticks to the Pretty like white on rice these days. He IS Rob's entourage: part body guard, part security blanket, part p.a., part booster club.... everything but fashion consultant! Who knows exactly what, but I certainly envy his job!
Dean is the reason why Rob is still standing and not ripped into pieces by some crazy fans... I think we owe him a lot! I don't know if they are friends. I'd say no. They can't be. Dean seems much older than Rob and most of all he needs to stay objective and focused on the job he has to do. They surely get on well but I'm not sure they could be friends....
Ah right, I just looked at that vid, thanks. I thought 18 months was maybe a conservative estimate - looks like Dean's been looking after Rob right from the start.
He obviously does a good job of looking after our boy.
And as one of you said, I bet he has some stories to tell!
@Loisada @Sissy @Carole--Also remember last summer in NY, when he was filming RM. All those crazy girls running after him (and the papps, too). He needs Dean! Also, I read some crazy chick got arrested trying to break into the WFE set (is that true?). He needs Dean! As much as I would love for him to be able to walk down the street by himself, go to a bookstore and have a casual lunch, it's just not possible right now.
In Hollywood there is only one reason why stars have bodyguards. And especially when bodyguards stick this close to their subjects it is because those stars have had their lives threatened.
When you're down on your knees at night talking to whoever it is you're talking to, remember to thank them for this man. He is there literally to protect Rob's life.

Dean is somewhat of an enigma. We know why he's there, but I am surprised he's with him when Rob is on set. He's even driving him to the set or just opening the door for him, I can't tell. There are times when he seems not to be around, but maybe lurking in the background. I'm glad he's on the job and has been there since Twi promotions, but I wonder about the rest of his life and is he always on call or has a schedule, which would be Rob's. When is he off the clock? Where does he live? Since he's been around so long, I'm thinking he doesn't mind this job, gee wonder why that would be...perhaps because he wants to protect this adorable, genuine, funny guy, who's probably like a son to him at this point. I bet he loves him. Go figure :))
Not to be morbid, but every few days, I wake up and think to myself, please don't let this be the day that something bad happens to Rob, don't let me hear something on the AM news that will be beyond devastating. I've lived through many, many "famous" tragedies which have personally rocked my world from JFK, John Lennon, Diana, JFK Jr, Heath, and Steve Irwin, to name a few big ones. So, yes, I'm very grateful for Dean.

Yes but he never seems to be more than a couple of feet away from Rob .... I'd really hate that.
