According To THR "Robert Pattinson's $12 Million Dior Fragrance Deal Is Just a Rumor"

So you may remember the other day that ENews released the exciting info that Robert Pattinson was the new face of Dior Men's Fragrance well now according To THR  Rob's $12 Million Dior Fragrance Deal is "Just a Rumor"

Photobucket

Here's what  The Hollywood Reporter had to say:

As a result of the massively successful Twilight Saga films, Robert Pattinson has transformed into a bigger star than he could ever have imagined.

And this week, it was widely reportedly by outlets including E!, The New York Daily News and USA Today that the young actor had landed a whopping $12 million dollar men's fragrance deal with Christian Dior. Gleefully, the press noted that Pattinson's deal had even topped Brad Pitt's reported paltry $7 million for his Chanel No. 5 ads.

But there is no fragrance contract. Not yet, at least.

The Dior international press office in Paris explained to The Hollywood Reporter Wednesday morning that the so-called "reports" were just rumors and that no contract has been signed. They had no further comments.

Calls to Pattinson's camp went unanswered.

There is no question that a fragrance deal may be in Pattinson's future. After all, his Twilight costar (and rumored on-again girlfriend) Kristen Stewart is already plugging the house of Balenciaga’s Florabotanica scent.

Should a deal come through for Pattinson, he would join the ranks of other A-list actors -- Jude Law, Charlize Theron and Natalie Portman -- who have endorsed Dior fragrances in the past. Marion Cotillard is also the face of Dior handbags

But it's worth noting that Pattinson has a closer relationship with Gucci than Dior. In fact, he loves Gucci so much that he wore their designs head-to-toe (the Signoria suit, white shirt, skinny black tie, leather belt and dress shoes) throughout his film Cosmopolis, as well as during the film's press tour.

"After I found out [from his agent] that Rob actually wore Gucci in real life, I looked at photos of him in their suits and that was the style I wanted for his character,” Cosmopolis costume designer Denise Cronenberg told THR. “Gucci is not something I have used before, but I think it’s smart to use a line that he has already worn."

Cronenberg also revealed that Pattinson kept all his Gucci suits from the film. "I didn't think he would because he has like 4,000 suits," she admitted.

When and if Pattinson ever does land a lucrative fragrance contract, we hope he isn't presented with a script that rambles nonsensically about dreams and destiny (see: Pitt's frequently parodied Chanel No. 5 ad).

SO what do you think? Were ENews premature with the big announcement?
Or does Rob really belong with Gucci instead of Dior afterall?

Thanks clarabelg1 for the tip !

  1. NO!!!!! NO!NO!!!NOOOOOOO!!!! i want it to be TRUUUUUE!!!! i want Rob to work with CD, cause it would bring LOTS of benefits to him....i have nothing against Gucci...i LOOOOVE Rob wearing Gucci, but they haven`t signed with him any contracts either, that`s why i was sooo happy to read about this Cristian Dior collaboration, cause it was a real deal.....i hoped that it was.....well, we`ll see!!!!

  2. WTF!!!!! Man, this sucks because if it doesn't end up happening, it'll look bad for him, and if he ends up signing with someone else like Gucci, it would look even worse. Come on Dior, get it together and complete the deal!

  3. Now this makes sense to me, that it was all a rumor. Rob looks AMAZING in that photo above but I have a sneaking suspicion that him signing for a campaign like this at this time is highly unlikely. It's funny how reports for an "inside source" that say something we like, we agree with and reports from an inside source that say something we do not like, we attribute to rumor and gossip.

  4. E! News is probably face palming right about now huh?????

  5. Well APrat was right she said something to the effect that she'd wait for an official announcement before breaking out the champagne and she was right it seems!
My hat's off to you APrat .

  6. Well, whatever the outcome... at least we had a VERY nice positive thread about Rob with 656 comments, no drama, now that's what I like :)

    ReplyDelete
  7. Sheesh! I'd love it to be true, but I need to remember that everything's rumor until it's actually confirmed.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I agree nice to be in a happy place even if nothing comes from it :)

    ReplyDelete
  9. We should have learnt this by now lol

    ReplyDelete
  10. All I can think about is that picture is how I imagine fifty would look.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Absolutely OCV!  That is the best possible way to see this ;D
It was a great thread wasn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  12.  Hey, we still don't know if something comes of it or not... and at least it was good for our happy place, agree :)))

    ReplyDelete
  13. Well we could try and bump it up to 666 and see what happens?? lol

    ReplyDelete
  14. Oh well....I'd be happy with any Rob promotional deal because it just means more Rob...but if Dior is not a done deal then maybe there's hope for Gucci still....He looks so amazing and hot in those suits!!

    ReplyDelete
  15.  It really was... I needed that after the last month :)

    ReplyDelete
  16.  Hey, I'm in... you think the deal will get real then...lol ;)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Rob  may land  not only double but  a triple Endorsement  Mega deals!!!!lol!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I think a whole lot of us needed that.  Maybe the dust will settle soon.  :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. If they took five minutes to check the positive reaction on the blogs, they'd be throwing a lot more than the rumoured $12 million at Rob now!  Just goes to show how wrong these outlets can be and how quickly it spreads.  At least it was good news this time.....

    ReplyDelete
  20. Well stranger things have happened...LMAO
Hmm your avi looks like he's hiding some Halloween fangs.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Nothing that man does would really surprise me...I don't think...

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm thinking right now how ironic it is that the picture of Rob depicted above is the one I have loved for so long and it is displayed near my books w/the title "Joy Delirious" -- I am deflated at the news which perked me up yesterday being just a rumor. Bummer.

    ReplyDelete
  23.  And i'm in agreement with that, Gucci you know what you got to do! there is no time like the present..

    ReplyDelete
  24. And I should have made my self a cup of Greek coffee enjoy it and then read Rob's future in it.

    ReplyDelete
  25. NO Moulin Rouge inspired Rob on a piano surrounded by can can girls....to quote Edward, "That would be a tragedy" :(

    ReplyDelete
  26. Damn the Dior deal a rumor?  But I was gonna wear men's cologne/perfume.....anything to be connected to Rob.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Why would anyone even think there is a deal on the table? E! is a gossip site. That's the problem with rumors. There could easily be absolutely no truth whatsoever that he is or ever has been considering a deal. Doesn't mean he hasn't gotten offers, just that he has not engaged in conversation about them, which is of course, what he has said in interviews as recently as the Cosmopolis promo tour. Kristen's deal was announced by Balenciaga and officially confirmed by her press team.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Wow, everyone just jumped on this & reported it as fact without checking to see if it was true. That is seriously sad. All it would have taken was a call to Dior to verify, and it wasn't just places like Hollywood Lies that reported it, even so called "respectable" news sources put it out as a fact. It's so ridiculous that we can't trust ANYTHING that gets reported.

    ReplyDelete
  29. wow. who invents rumours like this? just astonished. or maybe Dior wants to make an official announcement but later? I wish someone asks rob tomorrow

    ReplyDelete
  30. Excuse my French but MERDE !! I was so looking forward to this... well - maybe it will still happen, who knows ?? Gucci would be good too...

    ReplyDelete
  31. That is so YOU to point it out that way! <3  <3  <3

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hmmmmm, I would say, just wait and see......how is the saying? There´s no smoke without fire?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Just a minute, I need to stop drooling over Rob.....When Rob signs on the dotted line for an ad campaign, will be a great day for everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Not sure that's a good idea tonight of all nights ;p

Your hag already jinxed me earlier on.....nearly had me howling like a banshee.....laptop went cuckoo.....phone wouldn't connect...was just giving up and going to notebook so I could reply to something when up the laptop popped....problem.....battery fell off when the bloody thing fell off the sofa onto the floor.  Not a good night ;-(

Oh and if I eat one more carrot cookie I'll be sick!!!!  Shouldn't have made so many in one day LOL

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hasn't he said that he doesn't want to do a promotional campaign for anyone?  I could be wrong, but I thought I heard him say in an interview once that he has had offers, but it just isn't for him.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Everybody should go visit Gucci fb and 'like' Rob's picture....it's currently at 2077.  Think they may take the hint that he is just a tad popular ;D

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hey Bwen I thought you were dressing up for Hallowween...change your mind ?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Well if he isnt , you can bet your life they're wishing to christ he was after seeing the reaction to just a rumour !
    I

    ReplyDelete
  39. Even though there is no deal, I had a blast reading everyone's comments on that thread and great fun just imagining Rob in the Dior ads looking all smoooooth and sexy schmexy.

    ReplyDelete
  40. many of us remember that, but when we heard the 'news' we thought he had decided it would be a trade-off worth doing, to get funding for projects he would like to do, and to have his face 'out there' so people would not depend on pappz for photos of himself.  But if it isn't so, and/or if he would still rather not do this type of thing, that is understandable. What i don't understand is this whole business of lies and rumours-- there have been many actors who have been reported dead, and it is a hoax--something I find so not amusing, could give a mother a heart attack; this about the campaign is less noxious but certainly obnoxious.

    ReplyDelete
  41. respectable" news sourcesi is this phrase becoming an oxymoron now?

    ReplyDelete
  42. I looked and looked but I didn't have a thing to wear!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hey shouldn't you be getting ready to go out - charging up your broomstick ;)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Isn't it ironic that the one time (or so it seems) we have a large number of posts for something GOOD it ends up being not true!

    ReplyDelete
  45. god what happens to all those christmas gifts for hubbies and boyfriends now ")

    ReplyDelete
  46. Or perhaps he HAS engaged in conversations but no deal is made, at least not yet?

    ReplyDelete
  47. maybe it is a rumor, maybe not. but it was intersting to think about it and it changed my mind about the whole thing. i really hope he will make a deal with some interesting brand now. i tried the Dior fragrances yesterday and liked them very much, though i wasn't fan of their ads. Gucci is what i love on him but i love everything on him. i already forgot he wore Gucci in Cosmopolis because he wore it in his life as well. he really is a free walking advertement for them. i'm curious what we will hear about this the next days.

    ReplyDelete
  48.  You made me spit my tea all over my Monitor. :-(  LOL

    ReplyDelete
  49. hehehe, i just said the same. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  53.  I just did it. He has over 2.000 likes already... more than any other photo of LACMA.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Maybe.. they were just testing the waters.  Because I read and heard it all over the entertainment news.  What... didn't they check their fact or are they just following every news outlet with the same same...is it copy and past with entertainment news?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Yes she did and boy that was an excellent come back... your sense of humor is off the chart and off the wall. :-D

    ReplyDelete
  56. there is no denial , that's the good news

    ReplyDelete
  57. call me a liar but i thought we knew it wasn't confirmed or offical or fact. i found it interesting and tood it serious but i wasn't complete sold....it's like when we hear of new movie projects, at first most of the time we don't know for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  58.  Hi Mizz, good to see you.... lol about you trying the Gucci scents already, quite good, ehhh???
...with this  just wanted to say Hi to Nov as well... she's lurking the whole evening on her holiday-laptop which she has to struggle for .... Go for it, Nov!!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Funny you should say that....my laptop wont turn on today so I'm having to sit at the desktop on a bloody uncomfortable chair !!!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I do have to say that when I heard about the deal with Dior I said right out loud, "that can't be right...Rob does Gucci!"  Not surprised if it is a hoax.  I'm more surprised if it is true.  But the thought of Rob in ANY fragrance add, takes my breath away!

    ReplyDelete
  61. good you dress up the rest of the year! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  62. geez i almost didn't recognize you. are we going to vote for best costume? i think i need to change then.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Halloween !!!  Oh well ...tomorrow is another day :-)

    ReplyDelete
  66. I think it is, it's amazing how nobody does due diligence anymore, if it's on Twitter, then it must be true!

    ReplyDelete
  67. och well its the thought that counts lol

    ReplyDelete
  68. I think most people took it as fact. I only read the Eonline report that was posted here, & they reported it as fact. The only rumor I knew about was the one where he was going to film something in London for Dior.

    ReplyDelete
  69.  LOL... to your name and avi, Very Haloween-like ;)

    ReplyDelete
  82. it's a rumor after all, after I said it will be sold in gallons.I would purchase it even  though it is men's perfume , why would they rumor such a thing ?He could sell anything to me -except alcohol which I daresay will purchase since  not drink !oh !!what irony !

    ReplyDelete
  83. Aww..well that just sucks. I'm not into the fashion thing so I didn't know about the gucci suits and what not so when I heard about Dior I was excited.

    ReplyDelete
  84. i was looking for a different one but could only find this one. he is staying with Bella and looks very vampire like in it. Happy Halloween leah!

    ReplyDelete
  89. If they don't know by now... they will never know. ;-)

Nice avi...after I heard that he will be in this Twilight movie... didn't read the books before then.  I got my EW magazine... I subscribe because of LoTRs and when I saw the cover my forehead was making wrinkles trying to make out who he looked like... I thought... light blub moment... isn't he the cutie young man from HP?  Friend loan me the book and got hooked then start searching everything Robert Pattinson and now I am so Robsessed...

    ReplyDelete
  90. Ain't that the truth... Sheesh!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Well I certainly fell for it,got so excited for him we'll see whatever Dior or Gucci any would be good.

    ReplyDelete
  92.  So unfair all these rumours hoaxes specially to families concerned, people on social media & tabloids spreading lies, how can they be held
accountable must be some way its just vile.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I think they do Rob too.

He's a bit like Ali......floats like a butterfly, stings like a bee....... always on his toes, shoots from the hip those types of things LOL

    ReplyDelete
  94. Of course... ich bin textsicher :)
Have to call it a night now... Good night!

    ReplyDelete
  95. I know, it doesn't take much to make us fantasize about Rob..(loud sigh)!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Just wanted it to be true, and didn't think I would feel this let down now that it isn't --  Halloween today, wish yesterday's news hadn't morphed from the ultimate "treat" to this very disappointing "trick". Sad that so many reports were wrong, where has fact-checking and integrity in reporting gone? This makes a lot of reporting agencies look incompetent, or, at the very least, lackadaisical in their approach to their news stories. In some cases it is a surprise, in other cases not surprising at all. Onward... Rob rules despite them all!!

    ReplyDelete
  97. YUK, men's perfumes never smell very good, any of them, so I don't care what, if any, fragrance he gets millions to tout. However, Gucci really should start paying Rob gazillions of $$$ 'cause he makes their suits look SO GOOD!

    ReplyDelete
  98. OMG you're quoting Ali !
But hey it fits doesn't it!

    ReplyDelete
  99. Hello!!!!!!!!!! .... Trick or treat?

    ReplyDelete
  100. I am !
    I thought so ;p
you don't pin Rob down easily

    ReplyDelete
  101. Okay. So he hasn't signed on the dotted line. As I said, didn't think he would but wouldn't be shocked if he did. But once again, this is a sloppy, lazy media at work. No one picking up a phone to call and check a fact. No nothing. Just a rumour heard on the wind and they're off and running with it. Why? Hits/sales = advertising rates/sales = $$$. And the truth be damned.

Remember Watergate and The Washington Post? The scandal that toppled the Nixon administration nearly 40 years ago? Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein were the young reporters who broke that story and they couldn't print ONE WORD unless they had 2 to 3 confirmations from different sources. Their boss, the legendary editor in chief of The Post, Ben Bradlee wouldn't allow it. For one thing, the paper could have been sued and for another, those used to be the standards of journalistic integrity. Whatever happen to those?

Oh yeah. The corporations took over the news, turning it into entertainment and all that mattered was the bottom line...Money. And here we are 40 years later and few know the difference between The Enquirer and The New York Times and that's because the differences are disappearing. The press is the guardian of the fourth estate and they're leaving nothing of integrity for future generations to inherit.

Sorry for going on, but one of the thorns in my paw (and there are more than a few), is the demise of journalistic integrity, whether they're writing about a movie star or the President of the United States. They hold all the information and we only know what they tell us. Integrity doesn't come in increments. Either you have it or you don't.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I wish for him what he wants if it is good for him. :-D

    ReplyDelete
  103. Doesn't mean there isn't some fire to the smoke. He's had offers, and maybe there's negotiating going on, or a bidding war...lol...or dithering. This happens so often with potential film projects one would be in a constant state of imminent collapse if taking all to heart. Simply best to wait for those directly involved to speak or make the announcement, or it has the "green light"...I think rumours arise because people just want it so, and I guess I can't blame them... ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  104. Well, this sucks...and I hate that word, but it was the only one that I thought appropriate at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  105. What? Bummer. I really wanted Rob to be the face of Dior. What about Gucci? It is still a possibility?

    ReplyDelete
  106. I was excited to see Rob in TV ads, Billboard and perhaps at Macy's but I guess is not happening anymore. Give it to the gossip sites for not doing their homework and giving false information to the fans. He wears Gucci like no other celebrity does IMHO but what about if Gucci is not interested to make an offer to him after all he is advertising the suits for them every time they described what type of suit he is wearing, color, etc. either purchased by him or given to him as a gift. A win win situation for both. Just a thought.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Just got back and read your latest -- can I just say that in my earlier post I brought up this subject because, for the reasons you have articulated so well, the press has my hackles up more often than not, and you are, of course, correct, just as large corporations are taking over media reporting they are snapping up businesses and banks, etc., etc., ad infinitum, we will wake up to a different life some day and some will wonder why, but this has been predicted for some time now. It's the pace at which these takeovers occur, day by day, that isn't noticed, very slow, insidiously -- but, off my soapbox, I want to agree also w/the excellence of "The Newsroom" -- what a great show! I was the towncrier  to those I know about tuning in -- for a great hour of TV (NO commercials -- HBO, it can't be beat, on hiatus now, but will be back next spring, I think) -- thanks again for your insight, very refreshing for me to read.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Lame sauce! :( Now would be the opportune moment for Gucci! lol I still have hope that good things will come to Rob! Some would call it karma. I call it blessings. And it's been a long time coming for him.:)

  109. When I started psychology as an undergraduate, one of the early things we learned was an experiment of one (or a few) of the researchers going out to a street corner and just looking up. There was nothing to look at, but passersby started gathering and looking up, some speculating as to what the person was looking at, some sure they saw something and/or knew for sure what the original person was looking at.
I am starting to wonder if some of the stuff going on is just a social experiment-- what will people believe and do if we print this headline, manipulate those photos, etc. It's not a game i would like to play, but I feel as if I am observing it.

    ReplyDelete
  110. THR hasnt got a confirmation from Dior , while E news got exclusive info from an insider, so we will wait and see. Dior and Gucci are head to head in the brand business, their boutique are always at the front entrance in malls, so people will see it as they enter or from the outside. Dior or Gucci are excellent choices and with the money Rob can have the freedom to choose film roles of his choice and won't have to go for crappy roles in blockbusters film that pays  big money

    ReplyDelete
  111. Could there be the possibility that it is true but the news was leaked early. Really disappointing considering the hype that the ads would be shown next year. This whole business of creating rumours is really dirty business.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Wasn't it Dior even trending on Twitter too...

    ReplyDelete
  113. I am disappointed and happy at the same time, if that is possible.  I am disappointed that there is no deal but at the same time, I hope if there is a deal forthcoming that it will be with Gucci.  They have provided him with outfits knowing how good Rob will show off their suits and I would hope that Rob appreciates that and would want to pay in kind by sticking with Gucci.  I am only speculating, but I would think that Gucci would want Rob as their walking billboard, he is absolutely a dream come true in their suits.

    ReplyDelete
  114. jeez, Mizz, it's you!!  LOL  I thought you were a newbee and found it a bit weird that the others seemed to be familiar with you  :))Until I read Olive's comment

    ReplyDelete
  115. LOL that's what Halloween is for right? hiding behind a masque...
