Imitation of James Dean.

Robert Pattinson is present at this year´s Berlinale with not one, but two movies. In one of them he plays the photographer of James Dean. In our interview the former vampire-star tells how he used to perceive the Hollywood legend.
Berlin. At the luxurious Hotel de Rome in the heart of Berlin, hidden away in a parlor behind the lobby, Robert Pattinson gives interviews for his Berlinale-movie “Life” on Monday. Full beard, tousled hair, on the table in front of him a bottle of Coke. Before we get started on the first question, the 28 year-old quickly pops a stick of gum into his mouth.
In Anton Corbijn`s “Life” Pattinson plays the young photographer Dennis Stock, who discovered James Dean before he had his big break-through in Hollywood. Stock snapped the famous picture of James Dean walking down rainy Times Square in New York with a cigarette between his lips and a popped-up collar. In this interview with German press agency dpa Pattinson talks about his own James Dean-phase and his heartthrob-image.
Q: James Dean is one oft the big icons of our time. What is your image of him?

RP: I think every actor at some point goes through a James Dean-obsession. When I was 16, 17 years old you were practically always imitating James Dean, no matter what the role was… I think James Dean liked people looking at him. But there are other actors who don´t exactly know why they became actors (laughs). I think I´m rather one of those.
Q: What did you do when you imitated Dean?

RP: It´s mostly about body language. For example, something like this (he props his elbow on his thigh and briefly rests his head on his hand). Whoever saw me pretending to be James Dean probably wondered what I was doing!
Q: Since the end of the Twilight Saga you´ve worked with directors like David Cronenberg, Werner Herzog and now Anton Corbijn. Do you think of Twilight as a door-opener for new projects or is it more like a curse because it gave you the image of a heartthrob?

RP: It really only ever brought good things for me. Everybody has to deal with something. There´s something positive about people accusing you of being type-cast; it helps you to try and be casted for different things. It energizes you, in a way. It´s fun to refute such an image.

NEW INTERVIEW: Robert Pattinson Talks To RBB At The Berlin Film Festival

NEW INTERVIEW: Robert Pattinson Talks To RBB At The Berlin Film Festival

Rob is doing interviews this morning in Berlin ahead of the Life Photocall, Press Conference and Premiere later today. And here's one of the first interviews out from RBB.

The translation has been updated with a better version. Happy reading!

 photo RobertPattinsonpresscon70_1.jpg

I´m exactly where I want to be

Even after two Cronenberg-movies many still doubt the acting skills of Twilight-star Robert Pattinson. On Monday he presents his latest movie “Life” at Berlinale – together with director Anton Corbijn. In this interview the former vampire-star explains how he connected with the movie and why he feels his career is in a good place.

Q: Mr. Pattinson, is James Dean still an icon to your generation?
RP: Definitely. Especially when I was young. I knew James Dean before I even knew I wanted to act. I had read many of his interviews. He was style-defining and has an influence on every actor, simply through his physicality. Anyone who´s leaning forward, trying to look cool, is copying James Dean, really (laughs)

More info about the story from the Official Brimstone Site:
ABOUT BRIMSTONE:

Brimstone is a suspenseful tale of guilt and retribution that unfolds in America at the end of the 19th century.

A dark, violent and epic western/thriller about a young woman (and her family) whose lives change drastically when a new preacher comes to town. The story, told in four chapters, shows us how the young woman has to fight for her life and those of her loved ones, but also portrays the horrible past that led up to these events.
Variety:
BERLIN — Robert Pattinson and Carice van Houten (“Game of Thrones”) have joined Mia Wasikowska and Guy Pearce in thriller “Brimstone.” Embankment is selling at the European Film Market in Berlin.
Pattinson plays an outlaw who has a crucial influence on this tale of retribution. Wasikowska plays Liz, a heroine on the run from her past, pursued by Pearce’s diabolical Preacher.
“Martin directs a highly emotional, gripping and unique story of a mesmerizing woman who battles the vengeance of a zealot,” said Embankment’s Tim Haslam.

 Screendaily:
Set to shoot in May 2015, the film will follow a heroine on the run from her past and a diabolical preacher. Robert Pattinson will play an outlaw.
“Wasikowska is a powerhouse performer,” said Embankment co-founder Tim Haslam. “Guy Peace plays a hunter who unleashes hell. Martin directs a highly emotional, gripping and unique story of a mesmerising woman who battles the vengeance of a zealot.”
The Hollywood Reporter:
Wasikowska plays Liz, a heroine on the run from her past, pursued by Pearce's diabolical Preacher. Pattinson plays an outlaw who has a crucial role in the tale of retribution. A film description didn't provide further details.

REVIEWS: Robert Pattinson is sharp-tongued and comedic in Herzog's Queen of the Desert!

Berlinale is underway and the reviews for Queen of the Desert are coming in! Rob was not present for the press conference and premiere but you can click HERE if you're interested in the events.

 photo BerlinRobertPattinsonPortrait.jpg

Since Rob is not in Berlin yet (he arrives for Life promo) and we have no pictures of Rob as T.E. Lawrence (the world is cruel), we have to "settle" for this knock out portrait during Berlinale 2012.

Here are the highlights about Rob and we'll be updating as they keep rolling in:

Excerpt from The Independent:
T.E. Lawrence himself appears (played in eccentric, tongue in cheek fashion by Robert Pattinson of Twilight fame)...Pattinson’s performance, meanwhile, is comic and a very long way removed from Peter O'Toole. He plays Lawrence Of Arabia as a sharp-tongued, sardonic figure who can see through the pretensions of his bosses and colleagues.
Excerpt from The Playlist:
In fact, of the actors not overwhelmed by the heavy sense that "we're playing old-timey dudes in old-timey duds," Robert Pattinson (though the duds do sit awkwardly on him), for words about whom, I'll face the fact that probably 75% of the readers of this review will have expressly tuned in, is most surprising. The part is small. He only has a few scenes, but helped by the writing of TE Lawrence as an ego-driven but lighthearted, whimsical brainbox, he actually sounds like he believes he is living in modern times, not some anachronistic recreation. And so even when he has ponderous words to say, such as when he quotes Jefferson's famous, damning line, "I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just," he does so lightly, conversationally — unconvincing costume aside, he lets a little life in.
Excerpt from The Guardian:
Perhaps in flight from her internal emotional turmoil, Bell cultivates her passionate interest in the Bedouin tribesmen and displaces her need for romantic love outwards – into the desert. There she is to encounter Lawrence himself, played boyishly by Robert Pattinson. He looks a little self-conscious in the headdress – though perhaps no more self-conscious than Lawrence himself looked in it. His appearance got a few laughs from the Berlin festival audience, but Pattinson carried off this (minor) role well enough.
Excerpt from The Hollywood Reporter:
The brief but significant appearances of Robert Pattinson as T.E. Lawrence
Excerpt from Criticwire:
Robert Pattinson gets relatively high marks for his brief turn as the bonafide T.E. Lawrence
Excerpt from The People's Movies:
With the exception of Robert Pattinson as T. E. Lawrence, her male counterparts are somewhat lacking.
Excerpt from Indiewire:
The most ironic aspect of the enterprise is that the one man with whom Bell conducts believable, intriguing dealings is the one upon whom her sex-appeal has zero effect: none other than T.E. Lawrence himself, played with a plummy-voiced knowingness by Robert Pattinson. Pattinson doesn't get very much screen time here, but manages to come up with a Lawrence a universe away from Peter O'Toole's iconic portrayal - a kind of proto-Beat rebel in fancy Arab duds - and his dialogue exchanges with Kidman have a little touch of Steed and Mrs. Peel that at least gives their scenes some kind of oomph.
Excerpt from The Film Stage:
She encounters various historical figures, such as T.E. Lawrence (Robert Pattinson, in hilariously pretentious form)

Yesssssssss. Something action filled and containing murders! I love a good thriller and it looks like we have one on our hands with Karen Robard's HUSH:
 photo 81dvQ1jAHsL.jpg
In New York Times bestselling author Karen Robards’s latest heart-pounding thriller, a woman must uncover a murderer—or risk being the next victim of a vicious killer.
When Riley Cowan finds her estranged husband Jeff dead in his palatial home, she’s sure it’s no coincidence. The police rule it a suicide, but Riley thinks someone’s out for blood—specifically someone Jeff’s father ripped off in one of the biggest financial fraud cases of all time. She suspects that someone is trying to send a message to Jeff’s father: Tell me where the money is, or everyone you care about will die.
Enter Finn Bradley, an FBI agent with a dangerous secret. He's after the money too, and Riley quickly becomes his chief suspect. But when someone tries to kill her, he has no choice but to protect her until he can uncover the truth. The question becomes, can they discover the killer’s identity in time, before he resurfaces—and strikes again?
Dubbed an “exceptional storyteller” by the Chicago Tribune and “one of the most popular voices in women’s fiction” by Newsweek, Karen Robards’s latest action-packed novel will keep you glued to the pages until the final, shocking conclusion.

FanFic Friday
Last week I said I was starting Coming Home and I didn't. I went complete opposite. I read Present Perfect by giselle-lx. It was a quick read but I felt like reading canon fic. I love other work by giselle (Ithaca is Gorges is a major fave, as well as her shorter canon work like Da Capo) and think she has a great take on canon storylines. It's imaginative and feels completely authentic. Check out her fun one shots too about the Cullens.
Present Perfect is about how Alice and Edward became best friends, all pre-Twilight but with hints of the first book sprinkled in. I like how giselle shows Alice's mind and heart at work. I've enjoyed Alice and Jasper canon stories in the past. Finding out what it could have been like for them to first meet and fall in love. Finishing this, of course, put me in a canon and vamp mood again but I'm not sure if I'll stay there. I might go back to Coming Home or even There is a Light - an oldie but one I never read. Tonio is still going strong in Deep In The Heart Of Me. We just came off of the sweeter chapters with him and Sobe. I have a chapter sitting in my inbox calling me name. I can't wait to see what Tonio has planned for his next steps.

Charlie Hunnam Replaces Benedict Cumberbatch & Joins Robert Pattinson In 'The Lost City Of Z'

The Wrap is reporting that Benedict Cumberbatch will be replaced by Charlie Hunnam in The Lost City of Z and that production is slated to begin this summer.

 photo TLCOZ.jpg

From The Wrap:

Charlie Hunnam will replace Benedict Cumberbatch in James Gray‘s “Lost City of Z,” which also stars Robert Pattinson and Sienna Miller.

Cumberbatch was forced to drop out of the project due to Marvel’s “Doctor Strange,” and now “Sons of Anarchy” alum Hunnam will play Col. Percival Fawcett in the adaptation of David Grann’s acclaimed bestseller.

MICA Entertainment has come on board to finance the movie, which Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner are producing via Plan B Entertainment along with Dale Johnson and Anthony Katagas. Marc Butan is executive producing, as are MICA’s Julie B. May and Glenn Murray.

Sierra/Affinity will continue to handle international sales of the title at this year’s European Film Market. CAA represents the domestic rights to the film. Production is slated to start this summer.

“Lost City of Z” follows Percy Fawcett, a British colonial who disappeared in the 1920s while searching for a mythical city in the Amazon jungles of Brazil that he believed he discovered on a prior expedition.

“He’s Got An Amazing Voice & His Songs Are Really Contemporary” ~ Guy Pearce On Robert Pattinson

“He’s Got An Amazing Voice & His Songs Are Really Contemporary” ~ Guy Pearce On Robert Pattinson

The Weekly Review chatted to Guy Pearce recently where he spoke about his music and writing songs while on set. Of course Rob came into the conversation.
I have visions of these two during The Rover filming sitting around a campfire in the outback with their guitars singing and writing songs. Oh to be a fly on a guitar.

 photo YahooUKRobertPattinsonGuyPearce.jpg

'Pearce found film shoots the perfect place to write songs: “No dogs to walk, no family to visit”. But it was always done somewhat in secret. Which begs the question; who else is in this secret songwriter society? Who is the best actor slash songwriter too self-conscious to “come out”? “Rob Pattinson,” Pearce says, naming the Twilight megastar he recently acted alongside in The Rover.

“He’s got an amazing voice and his songs are really contemporary.”'
If you want to read the full interview with Guy head over HERE.
Thanks Nancy for the heads up!

ROBsessed Giveaway: Win book 3 in Anna Todd's series, AFTER WE FELL, for Fiction Friday!

Last week I said I'd show you a few more tweets from Anna Todd about Rob before we get to the giveaway for Book 3 - AFTER WE FELL. She was chatting about his dulcet tones....
This girl rocks. You know someone knows what's up when they are well aware of all of Rob's songs. You've definitely been around Rob's block, if you know what I'm saying.

We're on to Book 3 of her AFTER series now. Click HERE and HERE if you missed info on Book 1 and 2. Here's the synopsis for AFTER WE FELL:
photo 51jZq0t8ICL.jpgBook Three of the After series—now newly revised and expanded, Anna Todd’s After fanfiction racked up 1 billion reads online and captivated readers across the globe. Experience the Internet’s most talked-about book for yourself!
Tessa and Hardin’s love was complicated before. Now it’s more confusing than ever. AFTER WE FELL…Life will never be the same.
Just as Tessa makes the biggest decision of her life, everything changes. Revelations about first her family, and then Hardin’s, throw everything they knew before in doubt and makes their hard-won future together more difficult to claim.
Tessa’s life begins to come unglued. Nothing is what she thought it was. Not her friends. Not her family. The one person she should be able to rely on, Hardin, is furious when he discovers the massive secret she’s been keeping. And rather than being understanding, he turns to sabotage.
Tessa knows Hardin loves her and will do anything to protect her, but there’s a difference between loving someone and being able to have them in your life. This cycle of jealousy, unpredictable anger, and forgiveness is exhausting. She’s never felt so intensely for anyone, so exhilarated by someone’s kiss—but is the irrepressible heat between her and Hardin worth all the drama? Love used to be enough to hold them together. But if Tessa follows her heart now, will it be…the end?

FanFic Friday
I loved Letters to Corporal Masen! This story was so touching. Just lovely. I loved the time period and felt properly transported. I even listen to some songs I have from the 40s through the days it took me to read the story. I also watched Captain America 1 & 2 and caught up with Agent Carter. Clearly, LtCM set me off. It also got me in a mood to check out other popular Militaryward stories I missed. I'm venturing into either Finding Home or Coming Home. Coming Home might win because of the letter writing needs I have post-LtCM. I might reread Mail Order Bride for the umpteenth time since that E&B are so romantic and they start off with letter writing. I get cold feet sometimes starting a new fic and I might reread an easy favorite in between.
I finished the recent update for Deep In The Heart Of Me this morning. It's an instant smile on my face when I wake up and see an update in my email. This update was lengthy and perfectly Tonio. I'd like to say that kid is something else but more and more he's hardly a kid. It's been an experience to read a story from an era where his responsibilities and maturity are quite different from 15-16 year olds today. It has made the adventure pretty captivating. I'm glad it doesn't seem to be ending. :) Counselor, you're so awesome to keep up to date with ROBsessed and shoutout our shoutouts. Keep sharing your wonderful writing talents with so many and we're going to keep singing your praises. xx

Kate and I think we've seen this picture before. We deliberated and almost didn't post it but then thought, "What are we doing?? Why are we fighting that face???? That chest?!"

So enjoy. If you've seen it before, you know you want to see it again. If you've never seen it, you're welcome.

VIDEO: Robert Pattinson Shopping in Dover Street Market London

This is so cute (don't let the title of the video put you off). Two London vloggers just happened to be out and about doing their thing and who should they spot on their travels? You guessed it Robert Pattinson!
I like that they didn't disturb him and their reaction afterwards is adorable.

See him at the 3:25 mark doing a bit of shopping in Dover Street Market.

Look at that smile!

Book Two of the After series—now newly revised and expanded, Anna Todd’s After fanfiction racked up 1 billion reads online and captivated readers across the globe. Experience the Internet’s most talked-about book for yourself!
Tessa has everything to lose. Hardin has nothing to lose…except her. AFTER WE COLLIDED…Life will never be the same.
After a tumultuous beginning to their relationship, Tessa and Hardin were on the path to making things work. Tessa knew Hardin could be cruel, but when a bombshell revelation is dropped about the origins of their relationship—and Hardin’s mysterious past—Tessa is beside herself.
Hardin will always be…Hardin. But is he really the deep, thoughtful guy Tessa fell madly in love with despite his angry exterior—or has he been a stranger all along? She wishes she could walk away. It’s just not that easy. Not with the memory of passionate nights spent in his arms. His electric touch. His hungry kisses.
Still, Tessa’s not sure she can endure one more broken promise. She put so much on hold for Hardin—school, friends, her mom, a relationship with a guy who really loved her, and now possibly even a promising new career. She needs to move forward with her life.
Hardin knows he made a mistake, possibly the biggest one of his life. He’s not going down without a fight. But can he change? Will he change…for love?

FanFic Friday
I left the vamp world and stumbled upon a fic that isn't new (started in 2010 and completed last year) but thank goodness I thought to try it! A good way to find fics is to look at the favorite stories of your favorite authors. That's how I found We Were Here. This is Graffitiward and he is mmm mmmm gooooood. The fic starts in high school but we move past that time in their lives too. It's got just the right dose of angst and the lemons are delicious. I was curious about the author and discovered her first fic was a long time fave of mine, Summer of Salt! This author writes great characters and especially top notch Roses. Give both stories a read if you haven't already and don't forget to check out her outtakes for both fics.
I've now moved on to another story that's back in the world of period fic. I certainly haven't let go of Deep In The Heart Of Me and scurry to read the updates (which has happened just as I typed this! *rushes post*). I have no idea what is in store for Tonio and I relish being back in his mind for a few thousand words. As I wait between updates, I'm reading Letters to Corporal Masen. This story is set in WW2 and is just what it sounds like. We're reading the correspondence from Bella to Corporal Masen. There are some other layers to this story and I'm also enjoying the author notes that read like a little bit of history trivia. Check this one along with the others!

Robert Pattinson The Master Of Our Universe

Robert Pattinson The Master Of Our Universe

For a lot of people there will only ever be one Master of The Universe. If you're one of those people then I think you're going to like this post. Some talented Rob fans got busy and here are the results.

Laura used 'Crazy in Love' and DiorRob for her 'Fifty Shades of Rob' video.

ROBsessed Quickie: Jamie Dornan mentions Robert Pattinson during Fifty Shades of Grey promo

ROBsessed Quickie: Jamie Dornan mentions Robert Pattinson during Fifty Shades of Grey promo

There's only one Fifty for me! Obviously. Jamie is a nice guy though and I looooove his series, The Fall. Best of luck to him but I know who I'll be imagining when I check out the film... ;)

He mentioned Rob briefly in his interview with Variety. The whole interview was entertaining but you can get your ROBsessed quickie after these men are done eye fudging you.
