Robert Pattinson Fans Help The Go Campaign Reach Their Goal

Robert Pattinson Fans Help The Go Campaign Reach Their Goal

You all know that Rob attended the Go Go Gala last week where he bid $5,600 and bought himself a cello, made from trash found in a landfill from the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura, Paraguay.

 photo GoGoGalaRobertPattinsonHQ09.jpg

Last night The Go Campaign tweeted and asked Rob fans to help them reach their project goal and match Rob's bid of $5,600

When they tweeted last night the donations stood at $4,700. We know from past experience how fantastic Rob fans are for supporting his favourite charities and you guys once again did not disappoint. Rob fans rallied together and donated to this great cause that is so close to Rob's heart.

When I checked this morning the $5,600 had not only been matched but at the time of writing this post this is how the donations stand .........

 photo ScreenShot2013-11-21at111158.png
In less than 24 hours the project is 71% funded! We've said it before and we'll say it again Rob fans are AMAZING!!!!!

 photo Myheart.gif

The Go Campaign are on the home straight and SO near their final goal so PLEASE if you haven't donated yet
GO HERE and do it now.
Every $1 helps and 100% of your donation goes to the project.

LET'S DO THIS!!!

A lot of you were wondering what Rob's cello might sound like. Check out the video below to hear one, find out lots more about the project and the kids you'll be helping.

A bit more about the project:
In an area where there is little hope and limited opportunities to imagine a life beyond a town built on a landfill and surrounded by trash, one man is working to make a difference. Using his love of music and the one resource in abundance in Cateura -trash-, he is working to transform the lives of the children and their families. The students in Favio’s music education program and youth orchestra are learning to play Mozart and Beethoven just like music students all over the world, but what makes this program unique is that all the instruments played were created from recycled materials. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to expand their horizons and develop their musical talents, especially in such an environmentally-aware way..........

I can't get enough of the reports about Rob at the GO GO Gala for the charity, Go Campaign. They were so appreciative of Rob's contributions and his attendance. It was awesome to also look in our archives and read about the initial announcement for the auction that led to the girls' school in Cambodia. Click HERE and HERE for the flashback posts.

The author of the LA Times article we posted HERE and that will appear in the Nov. 24th print edition, wrote another article about the gala and reaped more praise on Rob and his giving heart. Excerpt (including the photo captions) from Society News LA:
Bravo Robert Pattinson for using your celebrity to help the Go Campaign to give the world’s children a brighter future and by continuing to contribute generously, as recently as the Nov. 14 GO GO Gala, by bidding with enthusiasm at the night’s live auction.

More than 200 guests – Pattinson included – converged on the Bel-Air Bay Club in the Pacific Palisades for the charity’s annual Gala. Combining ticket and auction sales, the affair raised more than $500,000 to help children in need everywhere by providing them with homes, education, rehabilitation, safety from sex trafficking and more.
...
Former US Senate aide, attorney and script writer Scott Fifer - whose TV writing credits include two Primetime Emmy broadcasts – said he first launched the charity after traveling to Tanzania and meeting a group of orphans. Through a network of “local heroes,” who understand the needs of their communities, the Go Campaign has since helped more than 41,000 children. The varied projects have included a girls’ school in Siem Reap, Cambodia, funded thanks to Pattinson.
“I can’t forget what Rob Pattinson did for us that had tremendous impact,” Fifer said from onstage. “Two years ago, Rob generously donated a ‘meet & greet’ on the set of ’Twilight Breaking Dawn’ for our online auction. And so we put it on Charity Buzz (charitybuzz.com) and it sold to a woman in Chicago for $80,000.” After recounting the success of the girls’ home, Fifer added, “So Rob, there are 25 girls in Cambodia who wouldn’t forgive me if I didn’t just say thank you. Thank you for your kindness.”
So was the meet & greet worth $80,000 to the buyer? Apparently so. In a subsequent conversation, Fifer said that same woman later paid handsomely for an advance screening of the film. Attending the Gala with friends, Pattinson bought himself a cello – made from trash found in a landfill – from the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura, Paraguay, with his bid of $5,600.

Variety had more information about the cello Rob won in the charity auction. Will this be cello #2 in the Pattinson home? Click HERE if you forgot about the first time Rob talked about playing the cello. Excerpt from Variety:
Robert Pattinson was the toast of the town Thursday night at the sixth annual GO GO Gala.
GO Campaign co-founder and CEO Scott Fifer thanked Pattinson on behalf of the 25 impoverished Cambodian girls he indirectly helped with an auction contribution. The actor donated a meet-and-greet on the set of “Twilight: Breaking Dawn” for the non-profit’s online auction two years ago that sold to woman in Chicago for $80,000. That funding led to the creation of a Program Advancing Girls’ Education (PAGE) in Cambodia.
“It’s been remarkable how one auction item from a person in the Hollywood community can translate into changing the lives of girls forever,” Fifer said before the gala.
The PAGE home will expand from 25 to 35 girls early next year.
The “Twilight” star continued his charitable streak by participating in the liveliest auction of the night. Pattinson bid $5,600 to win a cello made out of recycled material (built by Paraguay’s Recycled Orchestra of Cateura). The overall event raised more than $500,000.
The Recycled Orchestra, which plays instruments made from garbage found in landfills, also performed last night, eliciting a standing ovation from the crowd. Maracas hand-made with beer and tomato paste cans adorned the tables.

Excerpt from the LA Times:
Auction sales have contributed mightily to the charity’s revenue, and actor Robert Pattinson, for one, has supported the GO Campaign as a buyer and seller. In addition to winning a recycled cello at the Nov. 14 shindig with his high bid of $5,600, Pattinson previously helped build a girls’ home in Cambodia by offering himself up for a “meet and greet” on the set of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.” Bidding online at Charitybuzz.com, a Chicago woman reportedly paid $80,000 for that privilege.
“We call [the Cambodia home] the house that ‘Twilight’ built,” said Scott Fifer, the charity’s founder.

Another comment on an image (no Rob): I see a bruise forming from #queenshanshan because Robert Pattinson helped me out tonight!!! Such a gentleman!!!#RobertPattinson#VeryHandsom!!!

Excerpt from E!:
Robert Pattinson was certainly in a good mood at tonight's GO GO Gala in L.A.! The hunky Twilight actor arrived with pals (sans rumored love interest Dylan Penn) and looked super handsome in a dark blue suit at the charity event, which works to improve the lives of orphans and vulnerable children around the world. Pattinson grabbed a drink at the bar before chatting with friends during cocktail hour. R.Pattz was smiley and chatty with a group of friends, acting super talkative and in a great mood while mingling and supporting the charity.
Pattinson sat down to dinner where he continued to chat with folks at his table as event host Adam Shankman began the show. The 27-year-old star ate and drank while chatting with a female pal sitting next to him during the bash. At one point during the night, charity co-founder Scott Fifer thanked Pattinson for being one of the online auction prizes several years ago (a lucky bidder paid $85,000 for a Twilight set visit to meet him!) and Rob blushed and smiled as the crowd cheered for him.
A little excerpt about the Go Campaign:
GO Campaign identifies deserving Local Heroes throughout the world and partners with these grassroots organizations to provide children and young adults with critical services, resources and needed opportunities. We offer support and raise awareness about these small, highly-impactful organizations that might not otherwise come to your attention. Our partners develop programs to provide children and young adults with basic human needs such as shelter, food, clean water, education, medical care, vocational training, and income-generating activities. We believe that providing today’s orphans and vulnerable children with these tools and opportunities to better their future is a critical part of the solution when it comes to fighting poverty. History has shown that the most effective way to fight poverty and make a difference in the lives of children is through small grants to grassroots organizations – and that’s what GO Campaign does best.

Learn more about Robert Pattinson's role as a First Responder for the International Medical Corps

Rob is no stranger to charitable work. We first posted about Rob's involvement with the organization, International Medical Corps, HERE. Now we have a little more information about what a First Responder for the International Medical Corps means.

 photo RobertPattinsonIMC2.png
Here's an update released a few days ago on the role of the First Responders, led by Sienna Miller:
photo RobertPattinsonIMC1.pngSeptember 24, 2013 - Los Angeles, Calif. – As part of its 2013 Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Commitment to Action, International Medical Corps President & CEO Nancy A. Aossey and Global Ambassador Sienna Miller will announce a new “First Responders” commitment to assist communities in becoming their own first responders in emergencies and natural disasters. Over the next two years, International Medical Corps will commit to scaling up its successful “health care through training” model, to prepare families and health workers in Africa to better cope with recurring emergencies such as drought, food insecurity or seasonal flooding.

“Working alongside individuals, families and communities, we want to ensure these critical First Responders have the tools and resources they need to better cope in crisis,” said Aossey. “We can’t control earthquakes, floods and wars, but we can prepare families to absorb the shocks that they face. This investment creates an immediate ripple effect, fostering resilience and allowing those who are hardest-hit to get back on their feet and become more self-reliant.”

International Medical Corps, which has responded to every major humanitarian disaster of the last 30 years, will expand its successful training programs in Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan and Zimbabwe, aimed at promoting physical and mental health and well-being. These programs include peer-to-peer education on nutrition and good child feeding practices, training of frontline health workers, and improving access to clean water and sanitation services.

“Resilience is the difference between children in an Ethiopian refugee camp dying of cholera because there is no clean water, rehydration salts or trained nurses – and those same children growing up healthy because the people in their community were educated and trained on proper sanitation and nutrition,” said Miller, who has seen International Medical Corps programs first-hand in Ethiopia, Haiti and the DRC.

As part of the First Responders commitment, Miller has brought together actors and public figures who have agreed to use their public platforms to raise awareness about the need to strengthen communities before disaster strikes. Current celebrity First Responders include: Global Ambassador Sienna Miller, along with Jamie Bell, Cary Elwes, Ben Foster, Chelsea Handler, Ben Harper, Keira Knightley, Jude Law, Kate Mara, Jaclyn Matfus, Robert Pattinson, Eddie Redmayne, Tom Sturridge, Mario Testino, Anna Wintour, and Robin Wright.

Fan Has A TĂŞte Ă  TĂŞte With Robert Pattinson Back In 2011

UPDATED: Added 2 more cute pics
We all know that Rob likes to do his part for charity and I'm pretty sure there's a lot he does that we don't hear about.
This story from 2011 surfaced today.

Rob spent some time when in France for BD1 promo meeting with Julie through a charity called Rèves ("Dreams"): The association that makes sick kids dreams come true.

Here's the lowdown of what happened, along with 3 gorgeous pics!!

 photo RobertPattinsonfanpic2011-1.jpg
 photo RobertPattinsonfanpic20112.jpg
 photo RobertPattinsonfanpic20113.jpg

Translation (via Google Translate with a few tweeks from me ;-})

He is the star of the Twilight saga and the idol of all the girls. Through the association, Julie was able to meet Robert Pattinson in person! This young 15 year old girl had the opportunity to spend a few minutes in the company of the star, on October 24, just before his appearance on 20h TF1. Also moved the girl, Robert easily played the game questions / answers.

The previous day, Julie was able to attend exclusively a Twilight Fan Event for Breaking Dawn Part 1 in a famous Parisian cinema. A special moment reserved for a few fans in which Robert Pattinson and Ashley Greene answered questions from the public. It was followed by a projection of some scenes from the movie.

Charmed and in love, Julie returned delighted with stars in her eyes & with the intention of becoming an actress one day!

Robert Pattinson autographed guitar to be auctioned for Dio Cancer Fund Dec. 1st

Photobucket We love us some MusicalRob and now we're going to see who else loves MusicalRob. Or at least who loves to collect celebrity autographs on musical instruments.

According to the LA Times, a guitar autographed by Robert Pattinson will join over 100 other autographed guitars for an auction Dec. 1st to benefit the Dio Cancer Fund. Guitars can be previewed Nov. 19th-Nov. 30th in Beverly Hills at Julien's Auctions.

Rob contributed an acoustic-electric guitar.

Not the one pictured. I just like this throwback pic of AcousticRob teasing us with clavicleporn.

The auction will be held online and live. Click HERE if you are interested in placing a bid on Rob's guitar and to get more information about the auction. This will be cool! Can't wait to see what Rob's guitar will go for. If Rob's baseball home plate artwork can go for $6,400, imagine what a fine, musical instrument with Rob's autograph could do. :)

Thank lifeloveartfilm for the heads up!
