Larry Carroll shares details from his Twilight interviews with Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart from 2008

Former MTV reporter, Larry Carroll, was busy on twitter a couple of days ago and answered some fan questions about his infamous interviews with Rob and Kristen in 2008 during the filming of Twilight. His replies are italicized:
  • Did you notice a spark of something between Rob & Kristen when you first interviewed them on the twilight set back in '08? :): Yeah, the chemistry was undeniable. I remember each had a book on their chairs, next to each other. RPattz read Vonnegut. I was on set for 2 full days, and the only time they weren't together was when I did my 1-on-1 with Rob. They were VERY into building chemistry, barely knew each other then. To play such intimate characters for several movies they knew they had a lot of work to do. Both of them take acting very seriously, even then when relatively young. They'd share books, watch movies together, hit local clubs with other actors, etc. As soon as Catherine called "Cut!" they'd almost always head off together. I've interviewed each dozens of times, most recently for XBox at the BD1 premiere*. So glad they've come so far.
  •   If there is ever a remake of Last Tango In Paris, what would you think of Rob & Kristen playing the characters? lol: Would be very cool, since I unearthed that tidbit. But I know a lot of people whose heads would explode from the sexiness!
  • Hahaha, you gave us the BEST interview of Rob & Kristen ever! Sad there hasnt been many since! Can you see if you could possibly try & get a joint interview of those two for the final movie promo?: Was a lot easier in those day. I was the only one who cared. I remember explaining to other reporters what "Twilight" was. EW spelled Stephenie's name wrong, on set a lot of people thought the film would go straight-to-video. When I asked to visit the set they were kinda shocked. Said "how many days do you want to come up for?" Gave me full access, no embargo. That's extremely rare.
  • is their chemistry still the same now as it was in the beginning of Twilight? :): Better, I'd say. It's like real life, right? The more you know someone the easier it is to care about them - & portray that.
  • Did R or K seem equally enamored w/ ea other back then, or 1 more than the other? Or just getting to know ea other? Thx: I'd say they were equal. Although KStew definitely seemed to take the lead most of the time. She was the more experienced actor.

*Xbox interview was noted as being only with Kristen.

The 2008 Twilight interviews by MTV were pretty classic so let's take a trip down memory lane! Rob and Kristen before the mayhem. Also, it'll make you go "awwww" when you listen to Rob talk about his musical plans after Twilight. Amazing how much everything changed.

Larry's tweets didn't mention his solo Rob interviews but those produced Spunk Ransom. How can we not revisit 2008Rob?

Great memories. I can't wait to see what kind of interviews, photoshoots, mag covers and other surprises are planned for the end of an era.

Anyway to keep you UK gals going till Monday I thought a little Edward & Bella was in order.

Etalk mentioned some details in a video and a few more mentions in articles.

From Woman's Wear Daily: Meanwhile, “Twilight” honeys Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart made a beeline for the VIP suite, parked themselves at a table and skirted all questions.

From Style.com: After chatting with Catherine Deneuve, Kristen Stewart enjoyed a different kind of tête-à-tête with Robert Pattinson.

From LaineyGossip: Here’s Gwyneth last night in Paris at the Louis Vuitton event, with Dianna Agron, in short pants that look awesome on her. For you Twi-Hards out there, I’m also told she had a moment with Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Apparently they were seen laughing and toasting something.

"Robert Pattinson Is A Great Guy" - Mathieu Amalric

Mathieu Amalric was interviewed by Indiewire recently and they asked him about "Cosmopolis" and throwing a cream pie in Robert Pattinson's face.
Of course it was no surprise that he only had good things to say about working with Rob.
Check that out below.

Do you remember the pie??
Let me refresh your memory....................

He'll next be seen in David Cronenberg's forthcoming "Cosmopolis," playing a "pastry assassin" who creams Robert Pattinson in the face as part of his mission to sabotage power and wealth worldwide. Almaric sat down with The Playlist to talk about his philosophies on- and off-screen, and why he feels an actor is "nothing."

As the pastry assassin, you get to throw a pie in Robert Pattinson's face and then give a six-page monologue.

Cronenberg is very close to the book. And Rob is a great guy. Yeah, yeah -- it's a tough scene. I had to speak in English, and Cronenberg shot it in one sequence, where you do the whole scene in one shot. It was very physical, and I spoke so much. And you're afraid, because it's Cronenberg! [Laughs] But you manage to learn your lines, and I'm always surprised when I manage to be able to say the words in complete order, you know? I don't know how it's possible. But I think it's going to be an amazing film, especially because he shot it in order, exactly as it happens in the book, about a man who gets broken.

Check out the rest of the interview over at Indiewire

Robert Pattinson talks to Film3Sixty (UK) about Bel Ami

Robert Pattinson talks to Film3Sixty (UK) about Bel Ami

From Film3Sixty magazine:
Best known for his portrayal of brooding teen vampire Edward Cullen in the phenomenally successful Twilight Saga films Robert Pattinson turns serial seducer in his new film Bel Ami. In this adaptation of Guy de Maupassant’s classic tale he charms the likes of Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci and Kristin Scott Thomas. Some chaps have all the luck.

Film3Sixty: Your character in Bel Ami, Georges Duroy, is he an amoral man?
Robert Pattinson: He just doesn’t have a conscience. He’s content to do nothing and thinks everything should just be given to him. But if someone slights him, or directs any insult at him, the most overwhelming energy grabs him and he turns into this absolute devil. It’s like in Giant, when [James Dean] builds the entire empire to say ‘F– you’, he’s exactly like that but without any redeeming characteristics. The whole story is these people trying to beat him down into remorse, and just as he’s about to touch it, something good happens to him again.

You have a lot of attractive women to conquer in the film…
Yeah, there’s Christina Ricci, Uma Thurman and Kristin Scott Thomas. And I sleep with all of them!

It was an enjoyable film to shoot then?
The script is amazing. It’s very funny in a kind of strange way. I had to do four weeks of rehearsals, six days a week, like really full-on, including movement rehearsals, which I’ve never done before. That was kind of exhausting and doing fencing every day as well, which is absolutely impossible!

Did you choose the role because the character is so polarised from Edward Cullen in Twilight?
It’s always the script. I guess there’s something quite fun about Bel Ami, going from Edward to playing some guy who pretty much abuses women to get money out of them. Edward so wouldn’t approve – and I thought that was a funny irony. But the story, independently, is great, so I only thought about the irony afterwards.

How do you deal with fame?
I just try to keep working. I remember ten years ago Leonardo DiCaprio saying he liked to be able to take a break from everything, but I don’t think he can do that anymore. I think you both need to capitalize and steer your career at the same time, especially with a thing like Twilight, where it is literally such a huge thing that has blown up. It’s like a whole system, a whole universe.

Is it a burden to you, or does it open doors?
It opens doors and it closes others like anything does. You can say, oh if I was still unknown, then no one would judge me, but at the same time, nobody would give a shit either. It’s a weird little balance.

Bel Ami is in UK cinemas now.
