Happy Thanksgiving! Robert Pattinson wants you to let your thanks express itself

Happy Thanksgiving! Robert Pattinson wants you to let your thanks express itself

If you're stateside, you might be elbow deep in prepping some good home-cookin' right now. It's a holiday of thanks for the US but it's a time we can share thanks all around the world. I've been having a Cosmopolis love fest since the film was recognized yesterday on a top 10 list and I'm continuing my appreciation for Rob's work in that film.

I'm thankful for this review from HeyUGuys for the Cosmopolis UK Blu-ray. I adore and appreciate Rob's portrayal of Edward but it's time for his talent to flex. I feel like Cosmopolis was the turning point for great things to come for him professionally. Here's an excerpt from the review but read the whole thing if you truly enjoyed Cosmopolis:
Say what you will about the Twilight series but you can’t lay the blame at the feet of Robert Pattinson who is just playing an iconic character written to appeal to young teenage girls. Common opinion seems to be that once the series is over, Pattinson is pretty much done. His work in Cosmopolis proves that he is actually the real deal, Pattinson is in every scene and carries the film with ease having to cope with heavy dialogue in scenes that seem to favour a really long take. His portrayal of the character is flawless, a world of pain in his eyes always simmering below the surface of his controlled and manicured exterior. ...Cosmopolis is perhaps the most un-commercial film released this year but somehow starring everyone’s favourite pin-up. It’s also one of the most rewarding experiences this year if you have the ear and patience for it and a timely film about the fragility of our world and the people who control it.
I'm thankful for some more UK outlets with awesome things to say:
Blogomatic: Pattinson is in some ways a revelation in this, or some would say he’s reminding us that he’s not just Twilight. As Eric Packer Robert Pattinson starts off arrogant, you could cynically say the almost robotic way he plays him is like his role in Twilight, which is played much like a plank of wood. This is unfair though because as the film progresses and chaos begins to reign Pattinson changes the character and lets emotion take over, show the weakness of the character as the universe is not doing what is expected, how people don’t do as he says....The fact is though, I’d argue this is David Cronenberg at the top of his game and Robert Pattinson showing just how good an actor he can actually be. I’ve seen some say this is a contender for the film of the year and I’d have to agree in some ways. A truly excellent movie, but one that is not what you expect it to be.
FilmJuice: Pattinson is stunning as Packer...Pattinson may lose a lot of fans due to his cold and unloving take on Packer but he wont be disheartened by that. In fact his talents may just have been opened to a whole new crowd.
TotalFilm: Imperious but impetuous, chilly even when he’s chillin’, Pattinson ably holds his own in a film that’s essentially a relay race of cameos from great actors who are as visibly stoked as he is to work with Cronenberg.
MovieMuser: Even those who struggle through the early stages will probably perk up at the end, which turns into an excellent two-hander between Pattinson and Paul Giamatti, who plays a downtrodden would-be assassin.
I'm thankful fans are lucky in the UK that get to enjoy Cosmopolis on DVD/Blu-ray now even though I have several more weeks to go. *tight smile* ;)
Be sure to pic up the DVD/Blu-ray if it's available in your country or on your player!

I'm thankful for RPAustralia & Roberta for the amazing screen caps from the Blu-ray BTS extras. It's awesome to see Rob go in and out of character just in images.

Happy Thanksgiving (to those who celebrate it)
Love the people who are around you and take time to appreciate what you have.

This recognition of the film and Rob's work will mean so much to people who will really count for him as his career moves forward. I just wish the film had done better at the box office. I loved the whole experience of Cosmopolis, reading the book, all the interviews w the cast and director, the press conf that included Don DeLillo and the the film. It was like a mini University course.

As far as Robsessed Thanksgiving, Jimmy Fallon did a new Rob is Bothered segment last night about why Rob is bothered by Thanksgiving and it was hilarious. I think my favorite one yet.

Specific thanks to those that run this blog,; specific and special and full-hearted thanks to Rob, David Cronenberg, Josh Horowitz, and to the wonderful people who share and write here etc for enriching my life and providing an interesting, sometimes fascinating, window to other worlds. And i will be even more grateful if this site can get its format back to what it was, although I can imagine that many here are grateful I am not posting wordy comments anymore! :-) Enjoy, all!

o everyone please allow me to extend my best wishes to everyone having a. Most joyous healthy safe holiday at home in the us and overseas. Now the thing that I am thankful for the most well after everything that has happened in my hometown of new york affected by the storm a month ago I really want to take this moment to. Say that I am excceedingly thankful that I still have my house and my family here with me. Sometimes we often forget about the things that truly matter in life and it isn't that much. But as for the rest I'm thankful for the life that I have the way it is. Perfect I think not. But I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm thankful nfor my school even if when things are hard and tough but I still have my club which I have been so active and all my friends who make me feel accepted and my teachers bc they have all been very helpful to me. And yes I am thankful for having this site to go to talk about rob but more importantly be wi. I hope to see the th and be aquainted by some really special intelligent funny women of all ages both young and old. I know we may have ouur disagrrements sometimes but the one thing we always do is that we r always honest with each other and we really look out for rob and will always endlessly have his back and watch him grow to be an amazing actor. And for that I am also thankful for the three stories that have been so dear to me one of them being new. First with harry potter for all the memories I have cherished growing up since I was a child and readd the books and made me believe in the power of magic and that love and friendship always conquers evil. Second and I will try to be brief. I am so thankful to god for having twilight come into my life make me believing in true love and helping me get through some of the most difficult times as a young lady. And yes I will say this I am also thankful for allowing myself to be immersed in the world of the hunger games. At first I ddint know what to think of it or if its worth my time but then I just couldn't keep away and I became hooked. I'm reading the first one now and it gives me another thing to look forward too in my life as well. Thank you. Happy holidays robsessed

I am so grateful for the kindness and camaraderie I have here with SO many. This place has been a beacon in the night when I needed to find some happiness. To the mods: You ladies are awesome and so generous to us ... Thank You. Back to the kitchen I go.

At Thanksgiving I always try to reflect on abundances of my life - the many many things that I see around me that are beautiful, the things that I think are meaningful, the things that bring me happiness. To the awe-inspiring women who have created and maintain this wonderful site, and to all of the cool, entertaining and zany people who comment here, I hope that all of the good things in life will be yours in abundance this Thanksgiving and throughout the year ahead.

Happy Thanksgiving to our US friends across the water - I hope you have a wonderful day with your friends and family. We don't celebrate it in the UK, even though we have a lot to be thankful for. Just off to see BD2 for the second time - so thank you Rob for brightening our lives and thank you Robsessed ladies for just being there xxxx

Gozde said...

Happy Thanksgiving!:) First and foremost I have to thank God for my life. I could have lost it twice this year yet some reason I was spared. I am so thankful for this blog, it's mods, of course, Rob - who can always brighten my day with those happy fits of giggles- and for the ladies on this site who I would consider sort of matriarchs and protectors! You all are great with your deep words of wisdom! I just want to soak those words all up like a sponge! Hope all my fellow Americans eat their fill (try not to go into food coma! haha!) and just relax in thankfulness and friends and family! To the mods: have a relaxing and awesome thanksgiving day!!

Gozde said...

Thank you Tink and to Robsessed for providing us enjoyment throughtout the year on all things Robert Thomas Pattinson. I am thankful for many things I still have in life and thankful that I can still attain goals to make life better for myself and others. I enjoy sharing comments and debating on them civilly with other commenters on the board, which can be very educational and informantive on things outside of Rob's career. It is truly a blessing that I discovered Robsessed at a dark time in my life and it provides enjoyment when RL can become overwhelming. As for David Cronenberg and Robert Pattinson, I hope to see many pairings of these two in the future, as you stated in your post, I knew too this would be a turning point for Rob. He needed this critical acclaim and although the movie did not fair well, the critical acclaim I think was needed more than the success at the box-office. He still has time to have other box-office hits, plus deliver performances that I want to see him act in rather than the bland super-hero, horror ridden, or idiotic romantic comedies that seem to rule the box-office. B O R I N G...Thank you Rob Pattinson for providing entertainment throughout the year and hope next year is exciting for you and for us when those films are released.

Gozde said...

Yes pretty bad flooding around where i live very windy !!
I remember Rob saying in an interview fro BD1 that Edward and Bellas honeymoon was like a holiday in England playing board games LOL........he remembers !!!

Gozde said...

The water level isn't too bad here, raining but a lot of the time drizzly. Poor you! Your house safe from flood waters?
In the film they were playing on the beach :-) I bet he's forgotten how gristly it can be here - just yukky.

Gozde said...

Yes were safe thanks :)...... Good old English weather hey lol :D

Gozde said...

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.... today I am thankful that I am not a turkey..lol

Gozde said...

And the other days you wished you were one or?
wish granted. lol

Gozde said...

Oh well.....only a month to the shortest day of the year and then we will be moving on up in the daylight stakes :-)

Gozde said...

Well... it wouldn't be too bad I suppose!...lol.. although I would want to be a tom turkey as they get lots of turkey sex and there would not be a language barrier as I reckon 'gobble' is universal. Losing my head might might be the sticking point tho :0

Gozde said...

Erm....losing your head? That ship may have sailed if you're talking about being a turkey :p People are locked up for less :-)

Gozde said...

It sort of makes you wish we did it too doesn't it? Only sort of, it is much too close to Christmas :-)

Gozde said...

The Pilgrims came from the religious congregations of Brownist English Dissenters who had fled the volatile political environment in the East Midlands of England for the relative calm and tolerance of 16th–17th century Holland in the Netherlands. Concerned with losing their cultural identity, the group later arranged with English investors to establish a new colony in North America.

Gozde said...

Noo, that's 4th of July...Rob says ya'll sacrifice an American on that day...which is also known as Independence Day.

Gozde said...

Gozde said...

Good Night!

Gozde said...

Tired brain tonight....no songs coming to mind. How about a joke?

It's not the coughing that carries you off, it's the coffin they carry you off in :

Hearse going up a steep hill and the back door flies open, the casket slides down the hill hits the kerb and the corpse flies out into the Chemists shop, the casket continues down the hill, the corpse lands on the counter and asks `Have you anything to stop my coffin`?

Gozde said...

All I can remember is they came here b/c they wanted to be Quakers?

Gozde said...

Oh you poor thing, it's getting worse!! Are you a turkey or are you Harry Potter now??

Gozde said...

Great! Coffin jokes from our very own lovable Vampire..lol
You go sleepy now ..Nighty-night.

Gozde said...

Dream deal.. Luvturkey and Edturkey sitting on the sofa, watching Twilight together, gobbling away... waiting for mumma Mizza to come home with fresh grain and corn.. awww...

Gozde said...

LMAO okay ..that works too.
Oh Maria wants you to stop talking to her so she can got yo bed!
She has OCD when it comes to responding to people on the blog.

Gozde said...

Traditional what???

Over the river and through the woods,
To grandmother's house we go;
The horse knows the way to carry the sleigh,
Through (the) white and drifted snow!

Now you know more :-)

Gozde said...

That girl is hyper! And drinks tons of coffee to boot...
I told her g'nite already and cheerio and all that..
We'll see if she really goes to bed.. she's like an unruly child that way..lol

You made my day! Now off to bed with you, little Liza!

Gozde said...

Harry Potter!!! No...........I am luvturkey thankyou!! (G*d I'm gonna get locked up again lol )

Gozde said...

Okeydoke. I'll try to come up with a vampire song for tomorrow :-)
That's a tough one!!! When I think 'song' and 'vampire' together I either get 'sexy back' on youtube for Damon Salvatore in my head or Rob singing 'I was broken'........I think maybe my brain is in the same condition!!
btw - there is also a 'sexy back' video for Rob. Love the music.
Night

Go to Bed!

Gozde said...

I agree, BB..it should be a global holiday to take the time to give thanks..of course that wouldn't work in places like North Korea..those poor people have to pay homage to their dictator/opressor...One more thing to be grateful for...our freedom to give thanks to whoever we please...and I thank God for that.

Gozde said...

You know I think that's the only thing she procrastinates about...going to bed//lol

Gozde said...

You're right because while she is chatting with you on the blog she's emailing me! lol

Gozde said...

She's a trip and a half!

Gozde said...

Thanks :-)

Gozde said...

If anybody ever took her coffee away from her she'd crash and burn! Well I have to run see you and I hope you have a great Thanksgiving when your son and his wife are off.

Gozde said...

Thanks so much Bwen ..later

Gozde said...

Have you seen "Lincoln" yet? I hope to see it soon.

Gozde said...

Unfortunately not yet, but I hope to see it soon, perhaps Saturday night.

Gozde said...

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on it.

Gozde said...

No--puritans are different from quakers.

Gozde said...

I am sure it will be just my cup of tea-- Daniel Day Lewis with Tony Kushner screenplay, and history.

Gozde said...

Didn't they divide into separate religious groups then...one Quaker..one Puritan?

Gozde said...

SIL makes the pumpkin pie. I made pecan, caramel, and chess pies. and I've eaten so much I think I'm gonna give birth later! :P LOL

Gozde said...

Thank you ladies for always doing a fantastic job. I truly appreciate for all the time and dedication that YOU do on Robsessed.

Gozde said...

Tired and stuffed..says the cook..lol

Gozde said...

yes...terribly so. I don't think I'll eat anything else for a week! :P

Gozde said...

Or cook, huh..leftovers it is!

Gozde said...

I wish! I hardly ever have anything left! Guess that's what I get for making it taste so dang good! :P LOL

Gozde said...

I always cook too much on purpose..but after 3 days out it goes..salmonella and all that.
This tear I cook Sunday to accommodate my son who's working the holiday.

Gozde said...

It seems like from here thru the rest of the year, every weekend has a reunion or gathering of some sort. I feel like all I do is bake from Thanksgiving thru the New Year! :P

Gozde said...

Wow Jenn, hardly anytime to enjoy,..unless of course you like to cook..and even then there's clean up..oh well ..it'll be January before we know it..lol

Gozde said...

I love to cook. I hate to clean up all those dishes though. DH is a peach and always helps me clean up. Says if he doesn't, he will end up asleep on the couch and miserable come bedtime! LOL
I know ... another year, come and gone. My Daddy always told me that the older I got, the faster the pages on the calendar would turn. He was right. :)

Gozde said...

The Quakers came up from the Puritan movement (congregationalists, wanting each congregation to be its own entity and not be part of the 'borg' of the church of england) but split off and developed very differently into very different groups with very different approaches. And the Puritans persecuted the QUakers in England and wouldn't tolerate them in their colony in New England. And the Quakers weren't too keen on the pUritans either, disagreeing with their specific views and ways.

Gozde said...

So true ..and this day and time even my grandkids tell me time is flying by for them, too. When we were young it was the opposite for us. It's like the world is spinning faster or I dunno what it is.

Gozde said...

Thanks for the lesson Solas..It's always been a fuss hasn't it ? At least it's something worth fighting for.

Gozde said...

I remember when I was a kid...people had time to just come and visit. Sit up playing Rook or whatever until midnight and us kids would play outside til they made us come in (which they didn't). Hide and seek in the dark outside ... good times. Nowadays, it seems nobody has time (or TAKES time) to just go visit and sit around and talk anymore. Everyone has somewhere to be and in a hurry at that. I miss the 80s :P

Gozde said...

Good Lord weren't those days wonderful? I miss them so much..but for me was the 60's. The 80's were work and children in school. Not my life anymore..just mama.

Gozde said...

I was born in the 60's but just barely. And yeah, they really were wonderful. And you know, our parents had all the time in the world it seemed...even with us kids and whatever we had going on (school) but nowadays, it just seems like it's all we can do to get thru the week without forgetting something! Just last night, completely forgot about guitar! It's every Wednesday night ... but it just slipped EVERYONE'S mind! lol ... getting old I suppose. :P

Gozde said...

I think we try to do too much nowadays..past times wasn't that much to do. What guitar? Lessons?

Gozde said...

yeah, my girl's been taking now for almost a year. says she's gonna be a rock star someday. ;D
she IS good ... I told her I expect back stage passes. she say's 'gosh mom! you'll be like 60! that's too old to go to a concert!!' .... i think i actually heard my heart crack just a little bit :/

Gozde said...

Peace & Love to all this holiday season wherever on this earth you are. I consider you all my extended family & wish you all happiness in the year ahead. With all Rob's projects in 2013, the next couple of years will be our well deserved gift for all of our love & devotion.PEACE my friends.

Gozde said...

Kids can be so cruel nowadays. But you know you'll be there. Justin B. pulled his mom on stage with him Sunday nite at the VMA awards. They showed it on GMA next day.

Gozde said...

Oh yeah.........does anybody know if Bluray can be played on a regular DVD player? I don't have a Bluray & I know they won't have the BTS content on the regular DVD. I wanna know before I can pre-order it.

Gozde said...

She's wanting to go to Bonnaroo next June. DH says hellno! says it's full of potheads and drunkards (usually 80,000 in attendance over 4 days) but I don't think its that bad. DH is older than me and lacks the same get up and go that I still have in spades! :P

Gozde said...

nope. it wont. btdtlthw! LOL

Gozde said...

No hon sorry. You have to get a blu-ray player and it WILL play regular dvd's. And so worth it . I got mine for 58$.

Gozde said...

Is she wanting to perform there or just attend?

Gozde said...

Danm the bastards!! There's always an angle. I guess I'll have to find a cheapy. Thanks!

Gozde said...

This the best time of year to buy one..Lotsa sales. If you get one thats wi-fi or internet ready you can watch ROB on yt on your tv!!

Gozde said...

she just wants to attend. there are usually ... idunno 200 different performers? there's a LOT! she's not crazy about a mosh pit tho...almost got caught up in one last April. scared the beegeezus out of her. but she's like me when it comes to music, we love darn near everything! lol...this afternoon, we were fixing deviled eggs to Pantera! :P

Gozde said...

Well I hope y'all get to go. She could maybe play onstage with other bands..for experience. Good way to start and catch the eyes of agents and talent scouts. Is she ready for that yet?

Gozde said...

well, she just turned 13. she's no stranger to performing in front of a crowd though. but when I say crowd, I mean 300-400 ... not 20,000! I guess that would definitely test her mettle huh? :)

Gozde said...

this is the strangest dream I have heard about lol

Gozde said...

Jenn do you know why a comment made hours ago is appearing at the beginning of thread and says a few min. ago?

Gozde said...

Oh wow ...no hurry ..she's a baby still..I must've thought she was 17 or18. Plenty of time..She's not even old enough for Idol yet.

Gozde said...

hope everyone who celebrates had a happy thanksgiving. we don't celebrate it here. we don't give thanks:)

Gozde said...

beats me...it does this all the time now. I really hate this new format! D:<

Gozde said...

she could pass for 17 ... scares the shit outta me. nearly 5'9 now! kinda makes me wanna put a brick on her head to slow her down! I've been the shortest person in the house now for over 2 years! :(

Gozde said...

I guess I gotta go shopping!!!!! Bubye old VCR/DVD player........Momma's coming up in the world!!!!!!

Gozde said...

But what the hell do I do with all of my treasured VCR tapes? I have all the award shows & interviews with Rob in them for the past 4 years!!!

Gozde said...

Wow best thing is keep her up under you as much as you can..having two grown daughters. I been there done that and i feel for you...mine did wrong ..I was always at work and turned a blind eye. Now i raise my grandkids. Keep her close to you as you can ..the older she gets the tighter you hold her..

Gozde said...

Save those...keep your player plugged in..you can use both ...But you gonna love the blu-ray I promise!

Gozde said...

She's mama's girl ... and never fails to talk to me about whatever is on her mind. I just hope that that never changes ...uno? She's the reason I quit public work. I've always been at home when she gets in from school and I will never regret that. But thanks for the advice. I really hope she doesn't do that, but it happens all the time. :)

Gozde said...

Thanks. Now all I have to do is figure out how to hook all this shit up!!I'm not real mechanically inclined. I'm more like mechanically retarded.

Gozde said...

You keep it up Jenn ..you know what you gotta do...Sons are wonderful but our girls are our treasures and not some random boy's pleasure (poet and don't know it)...Your on the right track and hopefully she'll remain close to you untill she's grown...

Gozde said...

Sometimes there isn't much to be thankful for so I find myself scratching my head & wingin it !!! This past year has been kinda sucky for me. Next year maybe better.

Gozde said...

always hope for better:)
