Robert Pattinson's 'The Lost City Of Z' Will Have It's World Premiere At The New York Film Festival

Robert Pattinson's 'The Lost City Of Z' Will Have It's World Premiere At The New York Film Festival

Exciting new today, The Lost City of Z will have it's world premiere on Saturday October 15th as the closing film of the New York Film Festival.

Read more about it below.......

From Filmlinc.org

The Lost City of Z, written and directed by James Gray (The Immigrant, Two Lovers), will close the 54th New York Film Festival. The film, based on journalist David Grann’s nonfiction book of the same name, will make its world premiere at the festival’s final gala screening on Saturday, October 15.

James Gray’s emotionally and visually resplendent epic tells the story of Lieutenant Colonel Percy Fawcett (a remarkable Charlie Hunnam), the British military-man-turned-explorer whose search for a lost city deep in the Amazon grows into an increasingly feverish, decades-long magnificent obsession that takes a toll on his reputation, his home life with his wife (Sienna Miller) and children, and his very existence. Gray and cinematographer Darius Khondji cast quite a spell, exquisitely pitched between rapture and dizzying terror. Also starring Robert Pattinson and Tom Holland, The Lost City of Z represents a form of epic storytelling that has all but vanished from the landscape of modern cinema, and a rare level of artistry.

“James Gray is one of the finest filmmakers we have,” said New York Film Festival Director and Selection Committee Chair Kent Jones. “Each of his movies is so beautifully wrought, visually and emotionally, but The Lost City of Z represents something new. It’s a true epic, spanning two continents and three decades, and it’s a genuine vision of the search for sublimity.”

“It’s truly a dream come true for me to have The Lost City of Z selected for the closing night of the New York Film Festival,” said Gray. “I couldn’t be more honored that the film’s world premiere will be in my hometown, a city I still love above all others.”

Gray’s previous film, 2014’s The Immigrant, was an official selection of the 51st New York Film Festival.

The Lost City of Z is produced by Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Anthony Katagas, and Dale Armin Johnson, and is executive produced by Brad Pitt and Marc Butan.

Tickets for the 54th New York Film Festival will go on sale September 11.

Anton Corbijn Talks About Robert Pattinson At The Latin American Premiere Of 'Life'

Anton Corbijn Talks About Robert Pattinson At The Latin American Premiere Of 'Life'

On Friday night at the Guanajuato International Film in Mexico Life made it's Latin American premiere. Director Anton Corbijn was in attendance and conducted a Q&A after the screening of the movie.
Below are some extracts (translated using Google translate) where he talks about Robert Pattinson.

 photo Life_Photocall_Berlin_Flm_Festival33.jpg

Excelsior:

"GUANAJUATO, 26 July.- Although many related and pigeonhole the name of Robert Pattinson in the Twilight series, there are others, such as Dutch director Anton Corbijn who see beyond the stigma and / or social labels.

That's why I did not offer preposterous British actor the role of Dennis Stock, this famous photographer 50s that caught James Dean three months before his death in the film Life.

"After Twilight I felt Robert tried to choose characters away from this whole saga.

"He wants to prove to the world that he is a real actor can do challenging roles and that reminded me of Dennis Stock, a photographer who wanted to check he was good at what he did. That part was something I found in common between the two.

On the other hand, Robert is always being chased by photographers and I liked the idea that in the film he had to act like a photographer behind a star, Anton Corbijn said to questions expressed by Excelsior.

The filmmaker, who likewise attended the Festival last year to promote The most wanted man, was forceful in ensuring that while speaking of James Dean Life is not a movie about him, but the man behind the lens that made him some emblematic images that turned it around the world.

"Whoever thinks that this film is about James, I'm afraid to say that is not so.

"In fact, when I was offered the script I did not care because I did not want to make a film about James Dean, however, when I began to see that the story was more about the photographer, I felt I identified because basically that's what I've been doing for the last 40 years, " said Corbijn.

In addition to Robert Pattinson, Life features performances from Dane DeHaan, Ben Kingsley, Kristen Hager and Joel Elgerton.

This film was shot in Canada and does not have release date in Mexico. "

Eluniversal:

"Guanajuato.- Because after Twilight Robert Pattinson had shown he wanted to remove the image of an easy film actor, he was chosen to star in Life, directed by Anton Corbijn.

In the movie he plays professional photographer Dennis Stock, who came to have a friendly relationship with James Dean, legend of cinema. That closeness was born after
the image Stock took of Dean in 1955.

"I had noticed that he took movies out of the ordinary (Bel Ami and Cosmopolis) wanting to check that he was a real actor; and good in his life he is chased by photographers, and now he must act as one, "the director recalled yesterday.

Life appeared
Friday night at the Teatro Juarez in this city, in the framework of the International Film Festival that ended this weekend.

"It is not a biography of James Dean, so if people believe that's what they'll see they better get out," joked the filmmaker, shortly before the screening.

Life still has no release date in Mexico. It was launched internationally in February, during the Berlinale and now it was the event of the Bajio.

In September it will reach cinemas in France, UK and Ireland, one month later will be the turn of Italy and Germany."

AM.com:

Corbijn spoke with Sara Hoch to present his latest film at the historic Teatro Juarez, so the filmmaker traveled to Guanajuato to share with buffs his short film inspired by the friendship that had photographer Dennis Stock (Robert Pattinson) and the new promise of cinema in the mid-fifties, James Dean (Dane DeHaan)
On choosing Pattinson for the role of the photographer, he said he and Stock have a lot in common, at the time Stock sought recognition, the same goes for Pattinson,
who sought the opportunity to demonstrate that he is a serious actor despite the latest movies that launched him to global fame.

He said he was not interested in making a film about the life of James Dean, the writer liked the character of the photographer and that is why on Friday night hundreds of people had the opportunity to see the film to be released in theaters film at the end of the year.

Deadline:

Werner Herzog’s epic Queen Of The Desert will also add star power at the Berlinale Palast with Nicole Kidman, James Franco, Damian Lewis and Robert Pattinson. The film is the story of Gertrude Bell, the Lawrence of Arabia of female diplomats and political attaché for the British Empire at the dawn of the 20th century.

The Hollywood Reporter:

Germany's biggest film fest has announced a slew of new competition titles for its 65th edition, including Werner Herzog's Queen of the Desert.

In Queen of the Desert, the one-time Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson plays Lawrence of Arabia, aka T.E. Lawrence, alongside star Nicole Kidman as explorer, writer, archeologist and British Intelligence officer Gertrude Bell. Queen of the Desert also features Homeland's Damian Lewis as Charles Doughty-Wylie, a married British officer who had an unconsummated affair with Bell, and James Franco as Henry Cadogan.

Screen International:

The 65th Berlin International Film Festival (Feb 5-15) has added a further eight titles to its Competition programme, ahead of the complete line-up next week.

The films, which originate from across Europe, Asia, the US and the Middle East, include the world premiere of Queen of the Desert, Werner Herzog’s biopic based on the life of British explorer Gertrude Bell.

Nicole Kidman plays the 19th century explorer, known as the female Lawrence of Arabia, and her co-stars include James Franco, Damian Lewis and Robert Pattinson (as TE Lawrence).

The Film Stage:

With our most-anticipated film of the year leading the line-up, this year’s Berlin Film Festival has announced more titles to join the slate. Notably Werner Herzog’s first narrative feature in half-a-decade, Queen of the Desert, will be premiering there. The story of legendary cartographer Gertrude Bell features Nicole Kidman, Robert Pattinson, James Franco, and Damian Lewis.

Indiewire:

The 65th Berlin International Film Festival added eight films to its main competition this morning, including new titles from Werner Herzog, Benoit Jacquot, Bill Condon and Jafar Panahi. The festival also added an additional 14 films to its Generation selection, which is comprised of features and shorts aimed at youths.

Herzog will be in Berlin with "Queen of the Desert" starring Robert Pattinson as T.E. Lawrence (aka Lawrence of Arabia), alongside Nicole Kidman as British Intelligence officer Gertrude Bell.
