From Deadline

EXCLUSIVE:

As packages firm up for AFM, here’s one that will surely reverberate in Santa Monica. Robert Pattinson is signing on to star with Carey Mulligan in Hold On To Me. The film will be directed by James Marsh, who won an Oscar for the docu Man On Wire and followed with Project Nim.
Pic is based on a true story about a femme fatale who with her boyfriend kidnaps and ransoms the town’s richest man. They bury him in a box and things go horribly awry. Pattinson plays the flashy supporting role of the woman’s life love, Jimmy, who isn’t involved in the crime. The project was scripted by Brad Ingelsby.

Indian Paintbrush’s Steven Rales, Mark Roybal and Michael Pruss are producing with Alexandra Milchan. Also producing is Todd Field, who originally developed the film to direct, but stepped off to helm Creed of Violence for Cross Creek.

Pattinson adds this to an early 2013 schedule that will have him starring opposite Guy Pearce in the David Michod-directed The Rover, and he is also starring in Mission Blacklist, the true story of the U.S. military interrogator responsible for discovering the location of Saddam Hussein in the hunt for the fallen leader. He is repped by WME and 3 Arts.

Robert Pattinson and David Cronenberg talk about US promotion for Cosmopolis - LA & NY!

Robert Pattinson and David Cronenberg talk about US promotion for Cosmopolis - LA & NY!

This is exciting! PromoRob isn't done with us yet. ;)

Photobucket

The Globe & Mail spoke to Rob and David and they talked about US promotion for Cosmopolis:
“With big movies, it’s usually six or seven countries,” Pattinson says. “But this is way harder getting people to see. For smaller films, they just say, ‘Oh, just New York and London’ or ‘New York and L.A.’ I don’t really understand it.”

“We have the U.S. to come,” Cronenberg reminds him. “I’ve heard both July and August from the U.S. We will be doing New York and L.A.”
David is dropping July and August and as I told you guys yesterday, the producer told me the release date (first half of August and it's a double digit).

Robert Pattinson talks about the 6 projects he has lined up - First up: 'Mission: Blacklist'

Robert Pattinson talks about the 6 projects he has lined up - First up: 'Mission: Blacklist'

Cute video of sweet, giggly, funny Rob from the article :D The video was actually HERE but we never posted the YouTube. :) That's why it was new to me. My comp wouldn't load that screencap.

From USA Today:
On Nov. 18, he'll reprise his role as vampire/new father Edward Cullen opposite Kristen Stewart in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn— Part 2, the final installment in Stephenie Meyer's behemoth series.

But before that, he'll appear in a surreal role as a Wall Street banker in David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis (due in August), which earned a standing ovation for its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

"I used to think it was a good thing to have a safety net,"
says Pattinson, 26, of his starmaking Twilight role. "To know you're always safe is not real. It's got to matter."

So after Breaking Dawn, Pattinson will launch into a busy slate of projects that are starting to take shape.

"I have five things going — actually six,"
he says. "I'm pretty sure I know which one is going to be first."

That would be Mission: Blacklist (2013), based on the true story of the interrogator credited with locating Saddam Hussein after the fall of his regime. After that, Pattinson will head to Australia with Guy Pearce to shoot The Rover, a thriller set in the post-apocalyptic future. It will be directed by David Michod (who wrote and directed 2010's critically acclaimed Aussie film Animal Kingdom).

Like his role in Cosmopolis, this movie doesn't quite fit into a box.

"It's really complicated to explain,"
Pattinson says, laughing. "I seem to like choosing movies lately that are difficult to promote."
Six...hmmmm....
Mission: Blacklist, The Rover...then what have we got Map to the Stars, The Band, maybe Hate Mail and then the thriller with the beautifully written script that he said didn't have a director.

More Info about Robert Pattinson's role in David Michôd's next film, 'The Rover'

UPDATE: Added another article about Pattinson being cast. Scroll down and look for FilmInk, Australian movie mag. It has a little more detail about the film. :)

We already posted about the confirmation of Rob in The Rover, the next film from Animal Kingdom director, David Michôd.

Photobucket Robert Pattinson, David Michôd, Guy Pearce

For a moment, Variety and Deadline were conflicting with which role Rob would play but everyone is in sync now. Rob will play Reynolds, "the brother of one of the thieves who is left behind when an encounter with the police goes very wrong".

From Deadline:
Robert Pattinson has been cast as one of the leads in David Michod’s The Rover. The film chronicles a man who relentless pursues a gang who stole his car through the wild and rough Australian outback of the near future. Pattinson, best known for playing Edward in the Twilight franchise, will play Reynolds, the brother of one of the thieves who is left behind when an encounter with the police goes very wrong. Guy Pearce co-stars in the film as the man in search of his car. David Linde’s Lava Bear and Liz Watts’ Porchlight are producing the film. Pattinson was just attached to star in Jean-Stephane Sauvaire’s Mission Blacklist, and he also toplines the David Cronenberg-directed Cosmopolis that is in competition at this month’s Cannes Film Festival. David Michod is repped by UTA, Australian Agent Jane Cameron at Cameron Cresswell and attorney Alan Wertheimer. UTA Independent Film Group is representing The Rover for sale. Pattinson is repped by WME, 3 Arts, and Curtis Brown.

From Variety:
After taking his time in finding a follow up to "Animal Kingdom," helmer David Michod has settled on "Rover," with Robert Pattinson and Guy Pearce currently in negotiations to star. Pearce will play a man who pursues a group of men who stole his car through the wild and rugged Australian Outback. Pattinson will play one of the thieves. Michod also co-wrote the script, based on an idea he and "Animal Kingdom" star Joel Edgerton originated. David Linde will produce along with Liz Watts through Linde's Lava Bear banner and Watts' Porchlight Films. Lava Bear prexy Tory Metzger will oversee the production. Pearce has stayed busy with strong supporting roles in films like "Prometheus" and "Lawless," and is also in negotiations to join the cast of Marvel's "Iron Man 3," as Variety first reported April 20. As for Pattinson, the role marks another project the "Twilight" thesp pursued because of the creative powers behind it as opposed to commercial appeal. He can be seen next in David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis" which will preem in Cannes and also attached himself to star in "Mission: Blacklist." Pattinson is repped by WME, Curtis Brown and 3 Arts. Pearce is repped by CAA, Independent Talent Group and Shanahan Management.
I wanted to know a little more about this film and the players prior to Rob's involvement.

Video On Demand Viewing Info for Robert Pattinson's Bel Ami US Release (May 4th)

We are here, USA! DuRob in your bedroom at midnight! Or family room. Whatever. Wherever. Where you watch Bel Ami is your private business. ;)

Some misinformation was spread yesterday about viewing options for Bel Ami. I was hyper-sensitive about it because the info claimed I'd get to see Bel Ami through my cable company on May 4th and being a customer of AT&T, I know they won't provide the VOD until June 8th (theatrical release).

Lucky for us, if you've been following Torture Tuesday for the past 6 weeks, you know what's up.

Here's the screencap from Magnolia Pictures official site, letting you know your viewing options.

As you know, I'm going to get the iTunes first so I can see it at midnight and then I'll transition to Amazon over the weekend after my iTunes rental is up. I love that Amazon skips the long download process. How are you guys viewing it? I know you have a plan by now. ;)

Click HERE if you'd like to visit the official site.

Look out for the spoiler post in a few hours. Many of you have seen it already but you can join in the squeees and praise for Rob's work at Georges Duroy. The film also opened in theaters in Germany and Austria :)

A trailer specifically for VOD was released as well. There are slightly extended shots in the trailer we haven't seen before but nothing major.

Enjoy Bel Ami all weekend and all month!

Robert Pattinson's New Film Role Announced! 'Mission: Blacklist'

WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!!!!

Photobucket

From Deadline:

LOS ANGELES, CA – May 2, 2012 – Robert Pattinson has come on board to star in the upcoming film “Mission: Blacklist” with Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire committed to direct. The screenplay was adapted by “Band of Brothers” writer and producer Erik Jendresen from the Harper Collins novel Mission: Black List #1 written by military interrogator Eric Maddox with Davin Seay. Ross M. Dinerstein, Managing Partner of Preferred Content, is producing alongside Jendresen and Kevin Waller.

Embankment Films, the international sales and distribution company recently launched by international sales veterans Tim Haslam and Hugo Grumbar will begin selling the film at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.

”Mission: Blacklist” is a psychological thriller that details the true, inside story of the search for Saddam Hussein and the interrogator, Eric Maddox, who spearheaded his capture.

“This movie is a gripping, edge of your seat thriller,” says Dinerstein. “I have been inspired by Robert and Jean-Stéphane’s dedication to tell this story in the most authentic way possible, and I’m thrilled to add Hugo and Tim to our team.”

Pattinson can next be seen in David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis,” which is premiering at the Cannes Film Festival in May. Sauvaire’s last film, “Johnny Mad Dog,” premiered at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival where it won the Prize of Hope.

WME represents Pattinson, Jendresen, and Sauvaire. Pattinson is managed by 3 Arts
Entertainment and represented by the Curtis Brown Group in the UK. Sauvaire is managed by Anonymous Content.

The deal was brokered by WME Global’s Graham Taylor and Deborah McIntosh and Preferred Content’s Kevin Iwashina and Christine D’Souza. WME Global and Preferred Content will be corepresenting the North American rights.

I CAN'T TAKE IT!!!!

Click HERE to visit an informative website about the story and HERE to learn more about Eric:
Upon graduating from the University of Oklahoma in May 1994, Eric Maddox joined the U.S. Army as an infantry paratrooper for the 82nd Airborne Division.  After three years as a Ranger qualified infantryman, Mr. Maddox reenlisted as a Chinese Mandarin linguist interrogator.  Since 9/11, Mr. Maddox has conducted over 2,000 interrogations while deploying six times in support of the global war on terrorism to include multiple tours in Iraq, Afghanistan, South America, Southeast Asia, and Europe.  In 2003, while assigned to a special operations task force in Tikrit, Mr. Maddox conducted over 300 interrogations and collected the intelligence which directly led to the capture of Saddam Hussein.  As a result, Mr. Maddox was awarded the Legion of Merit, the Defense Intelligence Agency’s Director’s Award and the National Intelligence Medal of Achievement.  Now as a civilian with the Department of Defense, Mr. Maddox continues to fight the global war on terrorism.

Torture Tuesday starring Robert Pattinson: BEL AMI WEEK!!!

Torture Tuesday starring Robert Pattinson: BEL AMI WEEK!!!

IT'S TIME!!!!!! IT'S TIIIIIIIIIIIMMMMEEEE!!!!!!

I'm bursting out of my skin. I'm a sizzling live wire. I'm a bundle of cosmic fire. Can you tell I'm READY for Bel Ami???

Australian distributor, Hopscotch Films, released this cool, behind-the-scenes look at Bel Ami but before we get to that, let's talk business: how will you be viewing Bel Ami on May 4th?

Amazon Instant Video viewers:
Magnolia Pictures released a VOD film (Apartment 143) on April 27th. I checked Amazon on April 27th at midnight ET and the film was not up. It was not available for instant viewing right away. It took several hours. The film was also never in the 'coming soon' list, it just appeared. I know this worried several people since Bel Ami has not appeared on the 'coming soon' list. My test showed the films do not update right at midnight but it's still worth checking if you plan to watch Bel Ami at 9pm PST like I am. ;) If you are going to be more rational, the film will be ready for you to watch instantly at a normal hour on May 4th.

iTunes viewers:
The film will update May 4th at midnight. Only bummer is the download time. It'll take me 1.5 hours to download but those times change depending on your internet speed. Since I'm on the west coast, this isn't bad for me but I know it's a tough one for east coasters.

Cable viewers:
You need to check this chart to see if your cable company is on here. If it is, there's a good chance you can view Bel Ami immediately at midnight on May 4th. Read carefully because some companies (like mine, AT&T Uverse) only let you see VOD on the theatrical release date (June 8th).

Photobucket

At midnight on May 4th, I'll put up a spoiler post but really I think it'll be a "Let's go ape sh*t about how amazing DuRob was" post. Show your support for Rob's long awaited film and check it out all weekend. I already know I'm going to be breaking the bank for the month of May with those $9.99 rentals. Rob's worth every penny.

Now about that behind-the-scenes footage. I'm hoping we see more of these in the Bel Ami DVD extras because I'm forever fascinated by filmmaking. I also get a kick out of seeing Rob "come back" after being in character. You can always tell when he's with us again. :)
