"People Aren't Thinking Of Me As A Kid Anymore, So I've Got To Stop Behaving Like One" - Robert Pattinson

First of all for those of you interested (because I know you are) Rob is listed among the actors/directors in Cannes today according to the FestivalDeCannesTwitter so yes he is there people :-)

And now some more new quotes from Rob in the article below from FoxNews

CANNES, France – Vampires, Transformers, singing high-schoolers: They can all be tough to outrun.

But at the 65th annual Cannes Film Festival, a number of young Hollywood stars are attempting to do just that. By striking out on their own, they hope to move their careers beyond mega franchises and toward more mature roles in bolder films.

Robert Pattinson ("Twilight"), Kristen Stewart (also "Twilight"), Shia LaBeouf ("Transformers," ''Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull") and Zac Efron ("High School Musical") all have films in competition at the French Riviera festival.

In David Cronenberg's Don DeLillo adaptation "Cosmopolis," which is to premiere at Cannes on Friday, Pattinson stars as a Manhattan billionaire on a crosstown odyssey.

"It's changed the way I see myself," Pattinson said in an interview ahead of his festival arrival.

"I'm kind of getting older," the 26-year-old actor says. (Kate: I kind of am too Rob ;-)) "People aren't thinking of me as a kid anymore, so I've got to stop behaving like one." (Kate: No we certainly are not! Our Rob is ALL man now)

With the next "Twilight" installment, part two of "Breaking Dawn," due out this November, Pattinson has also lined up parts in David Michod's "The Rover" (a role he says he fought harder for than any in years) (Kate: Wow, can't wait to hear more about this movie. It must be special) and the military thriller "Mission: Black List." Like "Cosmopolis," they're films without the surrounding hoopla of blockbusters.

"When you do a big franchise movie, there's a ton of pressure on you that's really nothing to do with the job at all," says Pattinson. "You have to adapt to an entirely different world, rather than just try to get better at acting and do better within your movies. As soon as you become famous, your movies and your life become one and the same in the eyes of the public in a lot of ways."

Certainly, most actors would eagerly jump at the chance to star in well-paying, hugely promoted movies. But iconic roles begun as teenagers can choke promising acting careers

Efron, Stewart, LaBeouf and Pattinson will get no better launching pad for their new roles than Cannes, where daring is prized above all other attributes.

"There's no point in being scared of just trying," says Pattinson. "The worst that can happen is just failure, right?" (Kate: Good advice)

Robert Pattinson going to Cannes? The signs continue to say YES!

Official word isn't until April 19th but The Hollywood Reporter is claiming inside scoop on an early peek at the line up. An excerpt:
An Early Peek at Cannes 2012 Films
Pitt and Pattinson are in while Gosling's a question mark as the festival comes together.
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have a date on the French Riviera. The official lineup of films selected for the 65th Cannes Film Festival won't be revealed until April 19, but the Twilight stars can book their flights because both have movies debuting at the fest, which kicks off May 16. Stewart's invite comes courtesy of On the Road, director Walter Salles' adaptation of the 1957 Jack Kerouac novel that defined the Beat generation, while Pattinson stars in David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis, the screen version of Don DeLillo's novel about a fateful day in the life of a wealthy financier.
Is anyone doubting at this point? My calendar is already cleared and....

Robert Pattinson's Cosmopolis on Cannes Film Festival Wish List

Robert Pattinson's Cosmopolis on Cannes Film Festival Wish List

Photobucket

EXCITE! I love the Cannes buzz for Cosmopolis. Indiewire included the film in its wish list titled, The Indiewire Cannes Wish List: 30 Films We Hope Make The Festival's 2012 Lineup:
Cannes is a sort of annual cinematic Olympics, with almost every country vying for spots in the official selection. But with the official 2012 Cannes Film Festival announcement a little over a month away, Indiewire is offering its annual Cannes wish list.
Indiewire's annual Cannes wish list isn't so much about officially predicting the lineup, but rather is a roster of films we hope are finished in time, good enough and invited to the Croisette (though we do muse about what's more likely than others).
Among the candidates are celebrated filmmakers like Woody Allen, Paul Thomas Anderson, Olivier Assayas, Jacques Audiard, David Cronenberg, Xavier Dolan, Matteo Garrone, Wong Kar-Wai, Ken Loach, Terrence Malick, Cristian Mungiu, Francois Ozon and Walter Salles.
Movies that don't get a spot in Cannes (and there will definitely be a few) will immediately become hot topics for a fall fest berth in Venice and/or Toronto. Either way, let the guessing games begin:
....
"Cosmopolis," directed by David Cronenberg
David Cronenberg has been working on a far more restrained note in recent years, exploring the realm of interpersonal relationships without the subversive edge of his earlier films. "Cosmopolis" finds him in more ambitious terrain, adapting Don DeLillo's novel about a hotshot young Wall Street hustler in the near future facing the possibility that he might be the target of an assassination. A dark Cronenberg thriller is reason enough to get excited, but the project takes on a particularly strong amount of curiosity because the leading man role goes to Robert Pattinson (acting opposite Juliette Binoche and Paul Giamatti), who may have finally discovered a director willing to push him in bold new directions. Promotion & Distribution News:

This poster is coming out of the Berlin Film Festival. Variety reported on TeleCanada promoting Cosmopolis at the fest:
Telefilm Canada boosts titles at EFM
Canadian producers are riding a surge of industry buzz and critical kudos at the European Film Market with hopes that a slate of pics from seasoned Canuck helmers and newcomers will keep the momentum going in 2012.
At the forefront is Telefilm Canada, which brings its sixth edition of Perspective Canada to the mart. The federally operated film funder will showcase a selection of features for the market, including David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis” and Sarah Polley’s “Take This Waltz.”
“We’re in a very positive wave of cinema right now with the successes we’ve had internationally,” said Sheila de la Varende, director of industry promotion at Telefilm. “That creates recognition and anticipation in the marketplace for Canadian films.”

And Telefilm Canada is also at work with the distribution. Excerpted from a press release:
Perspective Canada returns to Berlin International Film Festival to support sales of 19 Canadian films at European Film Market

...

Coming soon
Sales for films still in production are also encouraging. To date, Deepa Mehta’s Midnight’s Children is presold in over 40 countries and counting, and David Cronenberg’s eagerly awaited Cosmopolis is presold in over 25 countries, including Italy and Portugal, and will travel the world.

Robert Pattinson and Cosmopolis Make 2012 Film List & Cannes Buzz Continues

Excerpted from Film School Rejects:
I am admittedly excited to see what Robert Pattinson can do outside of the Twilight juggernaut as I suspect there might be more to him than just a pretty face (although I am also prepared to be proven wrong as I was after my similar predictions of Channing Tatum). But really, this film had me at “David Cronenberg.” -AL
Nice to see the excitement for what Rob will do with this role and under Cronenberg's wing. There is definitely more to Rob than his beautiful face. :)

We would all welcome a return of CannesRob, wouldn't we? ;)

What Does Robert Pattinson Smell Like?

Our friend Maria Lindholm from ELLE Sweden interviewed Robert Pattinson at Cannes Film Festival. We posted the sound clips from that interview before.

Jessica (Gossip_Dance) asked her what Rob smelled like and here's her answer:

I couldn´t smell him even if he was only half a meter away but since we were sitting at a beach restaurant maybe it would have been different if we were stuck in a funky hotel room.. What I did notice was that he was so furry in a blond way, big eyebrows, long long eyelashes, lots of little hairs sticking out from his shirt and sleeves. Sort of sweet if you can picture the type. My guess is he smells like hotel soap and maybe a little bit of dirty hair...

Thanks to Maria for sending us the translation. Leave her some love on her blog. The picture above is in HQ over there :)
