Even MORE exciting news today from "The Rover", the press release for production revealed that filming will wrap mid-March.

Porchlight Films and Lava Bear Films are delighted to announce that filming on THE ROVER commenced on Tuesday 29th January 2013. With support from Screen Australia, the South Australian Film Corporation and Screen NSW the seven-week shoot will take place in South Australia.
Written and directed by DAVID MICHÔD, the visionary behind 2011’s mesmerizing and universally acclaimed Animal Kingdom, THE ROVER is a slow burn thriller, starring GUY PEARCE (Lawless, The King’s Speech, Memento) and ROBERT PATTINSON (The Twilight Saga, Cosmopolis).
Joining the two principal cast is a superb ensemble including SCOOT McNAIRY (Argo, Killing Them Softly) who plays Pattinson’s brother, SUSAN PRIOR (Animal Kingdom, Not Suitable for Children), GILLIAN JONES (Oscar and Lucinda, The Tree), ANTHONY HAYES (Burning Man, Animal Kingdom) and DAVID FIELD (Chopper, Two Hands). All have descended on regional South Australia for the hot and dusty shoot.

While donning the directorial hat, Michôd also wrote the script for THE ROVER based on a story he conceived with Joel Edgerton (Zero Dark Thirty, The Great Gatsby). The film is set in the Australian desert, in a dangerous and damaged near future. Eric (Pearce) has left everything, everyone and every semblance of human kindness behind him when a gang of desperate criminals steals his last possession. Eric sets off on a ruthless mission to track them down, forced along the way to enlist the help of Rey (Pattinson), the naïve and injured junior member of the gang who was left behind in the chaos of the gang’s most recent robbery.

Liz Watts is producing for Porchlight Films and David Linde for Lava Bear Films. Watts and Porchlight Films produced Michôd’s debut feature Animal Kingdom. At commencement of production the Producers commended the enthusiasm of the cast in their new environment. “The South Australian desert environment can be a tough one to work in, particularly for those coming from a Northern Hemisphere winter but both the cast and crew have thrown themselves into the shoot. We are shooting in some of the most haunting and stunning landscapes in the world, and are fortunate to have such an exceptional cast and a truly talented crew ”, Watts and Linde said.

FilmNation represents U.S. sales with UTA Independent Film Group. FilmNation also acquired the majority of worldwide sales rights to THE ROVER and the film has already been sold to leading distributors around the world (for a full list please refer to page two) – including Australia where distributor Roadshow Films’ Managing Director Joel Pearlman added “this is an incredibly exciting project which we are thrilled to be working on with Liz, David and the whole creative team.”
Shooting completes in mid-March in South Australia, with postproduction taking place in Sydney.

Also Producer, Liz Watt’s company, Porchlight Films, has revealed the first still from The Rover that gives us an idea of the production design!

"i know this isn’t a picture but im going with it. i get so frustrated with Rob films that dont give us Twilight-level extras on the DVDs. i want more more more. i want a 20 hour movie that has Rob as the leading man and on the commentary and 50,000 deleted scenes added plus 100,000 set interviews from Rob. i want it ALL. i would be in heaven if i had access to all the footage stored in the archives of Rob’s film’s studios or whoever the fuck owns this stuff. anyway, im on a drunk rant. point being, we did not see this scene and i wish we saw this scene. there’s a still of Rob and Uma that is also a scene we did not see. when he undresses her. that’s a pic and i suppose i should have used that but im using this. i wanna see this stuff! ugh. and right now, as im typing this, i want to see DuRob taking Mado on the chaise with his slidy foot. YES PLEASE!"

Do you know I would crash my car and endanger many lives if I ever say Rob driving? Take a picture? HA! HAHAHA! How about just trying to live through the awesomeness and not swerve into pedestrians or other vehicles.

The source doesn't give us a date but Rob is wearing his watch. He's worn it a couple of times with his dress wear during the fall but not as often casually since summer. I also say this like I see Rob daily. Please. In my dreams. The hair tuft through his cap suggests summer or earlier or late fall/winter (after LACMA Gala haircut). We know his hair was longer by TCA until LACMA Gala. It's not recent since Rob is filming and buzz cut. Sorry I'm not Sherlock, guys. :( I'll check the source again later to see if she updates. :)

"This isn’t my favorite sex scene or the one I think is best. I measure that against many factors. Cosmopolis wins. But that’s doesnt mean I don’t love ALL Rob’s sex scenes and Bill Condon was a devil in disguise coming to kill us with the way he shot Rob’s body in BD2. Good LAWD! Since higher quality gifs are popping up with the DVD release around the corner, while Cosmopolis is my fave, I can NOT get the Robward porn out of my mind. He is too sexy and beautiful to comprehend. Wish we had sound like Cosmopolis but I enjoyed the artistry. Beautiful Fiest song played over this scene and paired with the slow motion edits made it one of Rob’s more sensual sex scenes. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm"

"Another difficult choice because I love ALL of Rob's sex scenes (obviously) He does them all SO, so well. So I'm going to go with the one I'm most looking forward to watching over and over again, SOON. This one took my breath away each time I saw it and was above and beyond what I expected it to be. The honeymoon gave us a taster of what was to come so I'm not sure WHY I was so surprised at this scene being so breathtaking but all the preparation in the world wouldn't have had me ready for the awesomeness that we received in BD2"
