Robert Pattinson Talks To The Boston Globe About The Safdie Brothers, His Good Time Character & More

Meredith Goldstein from the Boston Globe interviewed Robert Pattinson & The Safdies recently.

Here are the parts of the interview where she spoke to Rob:

"Just before an interview with the Safdie brothers – the filmmakers behind the gritty crime-thriller “Good Time” – a reporter gets a warning: “They like to talk.”
(.......)

Their “Good Time” star Robert Pattinson calls this trait an “abundance of energy.”
“It’s just that, from Day 1, Minute 1 of the day until wrap,” he said. “Just always at maximum.”
(.....)

The project came out of a meeting with Pattinson, who told us in a phone interview that he was drawn to the “frenetic, frenzied energy” of the brothers’ work.
(.....)

Pattinson said he feels lucky to have worked with them when he did.

“I could really see that people around hadn’t really noticed the extent of their potential when I first met them,” he said. “You can feel that they had — that they still have a lot inside them people haven’t really seen yet.”
Meredith also tweeted out some extra tidbits from Rob that are not included in the article:

NEW PICS: Sneak peeks of Robert Pattinson for his CBS Sunday Morning appearance

Rob will be on CBS Sunday Morning Aug. 20th at 9am ET and there are several great pics shared from the interview!

Excerpt from the interview with CBS Sunday Morning:

Actor Robert Pattinson became a household name and a heartthrob to millions for his work in the “Twilight” films. But now, Pattinson is playing against type in his new film, “Good Time,” where he stars as a gruff, unshaven bank robber. The role shows a different side of Pattinson, which is something he likes, he tells Michelle Miller in an interview for CBS SUNDAY MORNING, to be broadcast Sunday, August 20 (9:00 AM, ET) on the CBS Television Network.

“I think so much of life people are trying to put you in a box and define you all the time,” Pattinson tells Miller. “And it’s just exciting to have a job where you can– where you’re allowed to– consistently break the walls of the box around you.”

“Twilight” brought Pattison superstardom, but he’s been trying to grow as an actor ever since.

“It’s not like, ‘Oh, I’ll come down from an ivory tower to be…’ I mean, these roles are hard for me to get. It’s not like I’m… Leo [DiCaprio] or something,” Pattinson says. “The only thing that being famous really helps in is…getting financing for your… movies. And…the movies I do are weird and they don’t make a lot of money… a lot of the time.”

Pattinson also talks with Miller about his childhood, breaking into acting, his on-going struggles to deal with the tabloids, personal relationships and more.

These days Pattinson says he appreciates an occasional break from the limelight, but he’s also very aware of how fleeting success can be.

“I always think that, like, at some point Karma…is like, ‘Oh, that’s all your luck run out.’ And now it’s, ‘so a whole bunch of bad stuff’s gonna happen.’”

CBS SUNDAY MORNING is broadcast Sundays (9:00-10:30 AM, ET) on the CBS Television Network. Rand Morrison is the executive producer.
