More info about Robert Pattinson's and the Eclipse casts visit with Oprah

Photobucket

A couple weeks back, Oprah announced on her website that she was looking for the "ultimate 'Twilight' fans" to be a part of her top-secret May 13 show (airing on that day specifically because it's RPattz's birthday!), which would cover the release of the newest film, "Eclipse." We already found out that the lucky few who were selected got a chance to be a very early look at the entire film, and today got the attend the show's taping with special guests Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Dakota Fanning.

Now, since we're Hollywood Crush and obviously didn't want to miss a beat, we knew we would be remiss if we didn't do our best to track down some of the lucky attendees and get some inside info on the show a week before it airs.

Click on after the jump to see what our investigative reporting turned up.

It's already been announced all over Twitter that Oprah asked Rob and Kristen the Big Question: whether or not they are an item. Niekema Hudson, who Tweeted the majority of the events last night and today, told us in a phone interview that despite Oprah's yes-or-no question, Rob and Kristen still managed to avoid answering it.

"[Oprah] asked the question directly, like, 'So, everybody wants to know!' but they really did avoid the question," 31-year-old Niekema said. "They both kind of looked like, 'Uhh, are we supposed to answer this?' and then Rob joked that Kristen was pregnant, and she joked that, 'If I'm pregnant, then Rob's going to have the baby.'"

Niekema had seen that Oprah had been looking for hard core "Twilight" fans on the "Twilight" Facebook page, and sent in an essay detailing the extent of her love of the series. She found out last Monday that she had been selected as an audience member, and brought her cousin, who originally got her into the series, as her plus one.

"I was so excited about being able to go to the show, I completely read over the fact that we would be seeing the movie the night before," she said with a laugh.

EclipseAttendees were encouraged to wear "Twilight" shirts and dark clothes, and bring along Team Edward and Team Jacob signs. Niekema estimated that about 150 fans attended the screening and taping. She said they ranged in age from 14 to 40, and were mostly all women with the exception of one unhappy husband.

Nicole Salera, 19, sent in an essay that included photos showing how "Twilight" is in her life, and brought her friend along once she found out she had been accepted as an audience member. Seeing all the "Twilight" stars — and the movie — brought her to tears, she said.

"I felt Kristen's personality shine throughout the interview. She explained how she is shy and just as nervous as we are, which is cool of her to say," Nicole said in an e-mail interview. "Taylor Lautner, my husband who doesn't know it yet, looked hotter than ever and I couldn't stop staring at him. He explained how he likes dorky girls, yes! We will be perfect together. He also loves beef patties."

Conversation ranged from upcoming projects to the stars not having any friends to hang out with on Saturday nights to Kristen's cat — though, surprisingly given today's news, "Breaking Dawn" wasn't brought up even once — but the crème de la crème for both Nicole and Niekema was the chance to see RPattz in person.

"Robert, oh Robert. His accent is to die for, listen to him say 'nachos.' It's the greatest," Nicole said.

Niekema was lucky enough to be standing near the aisle where the stars walked out, and said, "That gave us the opportunity to basically reach out and see if they would shake our hands and Rob and Taylor did, so that made the experience even that much more amazing because I am such an Edward Cullen fan." Does it matter that Rob isn't actually Edward Cullen, but only the guy who plays him? Absolutely not, she said.

That was as close as any of the fans got to the stars. No autographs were signed — with the exception of one special young girl who came from the Caribbean and wrote about how Kristen Stewart and Bella are her role models (during a break, KStew gave her the ring she always wears, which we think is adorable) — and though fans were supposed to get a chance to ask questions to the stars, but that didn't end up happening. So Nicole resorted to the only option she had left.

Eclipse"We waited for the cars to leave [after the show] and my face was basically smacked against Rob Pattinson's car and it was perfect," she wrote. "Best day of my life!"

Oprah always gives her guests a special gift at the end of each taping, and today's was especially topical: everyone in the audience got a voucher for the official Bella's Engagement Ring from Infinite Jewelry Co. Neither Nicole nor Niekema knew which of the three versions they got, but Nicole did say one lucky lady got the $1999 Genuine Engagement Ring, made with 13 diamonds that add up to 1.06 carats.

hi kate....Isn't it like 5 AM in the morning in the UK?....Don't you sleep?...Hats off to your dedication :-)....Also i guess the carrot in this case is totally worth it....

I can't believe she asked them. I fucking can't believe it. I thought she might, but then hoped her sense of propriety would prevail and she'd let it go. Doesn't anyone in this fucking world understand the concepts of...

Privacy. Dignity. Respect.

It seems the only thing that matters now is that you've got 'something' on 'somebody' so you can run as fast as you can to the Twiddle before anyone can beat you to it.

You would have thought that with her own privacy being trampled upon, she might have had a little bit more heart for these kids.

You'd think, huh?

nikola6 - I can well believe it. Oprah's a law unto herself, and given that every other schmuck from low to high has asked the same d**n question of one or both of them...

(shakes head) Gossip will never die out. People will never ever get over their need to mind someone else's business.

Myself, I think it was painfully obvious a year ago. What more does anyone need to know...or have a right to know, beyond what their eyes tell them?

The fans AND the rags need some decorum, otherwise the pressure they're placing on those two kids will kill the very thing that they so ardently demand to know about.

It seems like all the talk show hosts ask Rob and Kris that, even tho' I'm sure they're asked not to! Good for them for making a joke out of it. What was their body language like? Did you get the impression that they ARE a couple? Just wondering....

Thanks, Kate for the report. I wish I'd been picked! I'm an old cougar, and I thought I should represent the PattinhOOrs....

Hi Nikola6... glad to see you back. Are you one of the crowd who is attending the premiere in June? I loved what you had to say about the manager of the Grauman's... you were hilarious that day. Looks like now you'd have no regrets about that personal slice of history.

I'm with you, by the way, about the Robert/Kristen questions. That has got to be getting so old to hear all the time; whether they are together or not is no one's business, but just having someone ask, wherever they are is an invasion of privacy. Sorry to hear that Oprah did it too...

Iluvthemovies said...

I saw an article on Kristen on her appearance in June's Elle magazine and they asked her whether she was Team Edward or Jacob. Her reply was great, it was "people say that I should just tell them who I am seeing and that would stop all the questions, yet they would still continue to want specifics." Good for you Kristen. Whether from the fan on the street or the Mighty Oprah, people should respect their privacy especially in showbiz and stop asking them those questions it is so redundant.

I want to see the show just to see how they glance at each other. I like watching them look at each other that is so sweet, call it the romantic in me. Their glances are better than them declaring to the world that they are an item. Once they declare their item, the next thing you will see is people saying their breaking-up all the time. Its an endless cycle.

No Dignity and respect at all! What a sad thing! And to be honest .... I really don't get this interest! (but really really really). Anyway I loved the irony and the cleverness of their answer...

I agree with Rick. It is painfully obvious, so why are people still wondering and asking the question? The pictures say it all. If they said, yes we are, then people will want to know if it's serious, how Rob is in bed, did she cheat on Michael, and it will go on and on.

Oprah seems to think that she's above it all, so she wants her privacy but the hell with anyone she interviews.

ShariG said...

Of course she asked them. It is the question that everyone wants answered and she believes she is the queen of all interviewers. I loved that they made a joke out of it and didn't give her a direct answer. They weren't intimidated by the fact that it was Oprah. Good for them. Still not pleased that they were here in my city and I could not find out when they would be here to even have a chance of getting a glimpse of Rob. Where are all the news sources before the fact rather than after is what I want to know. The Oprah show and Harpo Studios do not even have a listed phone number. The only way to reach them is via email and they don't respond. Don't like Oprah any more. (But still will watch and tape the show on Rob's birthday. Can't wait!)

Nikola6..You know that the great Oprah would get the answer when no one else could but Rob and Kris were too smart for her. They intend to keep their personal lives private and I really admire them for that. Oprah had to feel like an ass later, well maybe not. Can't wait to see her show and actually here what they said myself. Kristen better be gearing up for a spectacular birthday party for Rob.

Im not surprised that Oprah asked I WOULD be surprised if they actually said yes or no. If they said NO nobody would believe it. NODBODY-the sites would go apeshyte. Mountains would crumble. My chihuahua would talk in French..I would lose 50 pounds...

Good one--- @ Skorpia!

It's typical of Oprah to ask the question but at least she didn't probe any further. I've seen her countless times push people into answering things but she let this one go. Maybe it was just a half-hearted attempt on her part?

nikola6 said...

Well. I haven't seen the show yet, so I'll wait before I form an opinion on 'how' she asked. But I just wanted to say to Rick...

Great post there buddy. That one thing you said about it being 'so obvious' and has been for about a year or so. Duh? Of course it's obvious. But how often have I read comments that say...'until I see photographic evidence, I will not believe.'

Well. In the words of Charlie Swan...'good luck with that one.'

And it's so nice to have a boy around here. Well. At least one who's identified himself as such. I've sometimes wondered if there are guys posting here too. It's okay guys. Come on out. We won't bite.

Uh...well...we might. Especially after looking at the latest fuckhawt photo of Rob.

lallieb said...

Of course she was going to ASK, she kind of had to to maintain any cred as an interviewer. If she didn't, she could be accused of bias, giving them special treatment, going soft, being intimidated by publicists, etc. etc. So she asked the BIG ONE, they deflected with humor, she didn't press, end of story. Everyone's happy.
@Nik, kind of surprised at your take on this.

nikola6 said...

Uh. Wait a sec. Rick? Are you a boy? I just jumped to that conclusion because of your screen name and then I stopped and looked at mine...Nik. *face palm*

Whether you're a boy or a girl, doesn't matter. And you sure as hell don't have to answer that question.

Sorry.

nikola6 said...

Delle 1...

They have answered the question.

"I've been trying 'cryptically' not to answer that question."

And yeah...

"If I'm pregnant, then Rob's having the baby."

That too was answering the question.

But unfortunately today, people have to be hit right smack between the eyes with a two by four before they can 'see' something.

I think in part it's because in this modern celebrity world where the famous are spilling their guts all over their webpages and their twaddle and in interviews, that when two young famous people come along who are practicing DISCRETION in their lives...

The people are...WTF? They don't 'get it.' They don't know what that word means anymore and that's because in this age of information and disclosure, nobody is practicing it. Except...

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

lallieb said...

@Nik, in case he doesn't come back. Rick is definitely a boy. He's commented before and I have email from him. He's a very smart boy with extensive interest and knowledge of vampire lore, among other scifi/supernatural stuff, I'm guessing.

nikola6 said...

Okay. I'm sure some, alot, are practicing it. But here in the Twilight bubble, all eyes are on these two and what the others are doing, were not paying attention to that.

I apologize to all those famous people who are indeed practicing discretion in their lives. That was a blanket statement. I've made more than a few of them and when I catch myself, I try to correct it.

nikola6 said...

Okay llalieb...

Thanks. I just kinda figured he was from the way he posted; level headed, no mention of 'poofing panties.' That sort of thing.

He's into vampires, huh? Interesting. When I said that we wouldn't bite, maybe it'll be him who'll be doing the biting.

Bring it.

I love me some vampires. It's the reason I picked up the first book in the first place (after my 13 yr. old niece threatened my life if I didn't) And then this little shit named Rob Pattinson came along...

And my life went to hell in a handbasket.

Thanks alot...ya little shit.

mpackergirl4 said...

I didn't see it as an invasion...Oprah just asked the question like everyone else does...She didn't say another word about it after the baby comment and it was hilarious...You will love the show, especially when you see what Oprah made poor Rob do-it was hilarious-he was hilarious period...he absolutely stole the show with the way he was messing with everyone! And Oprah is so secretive because of the mad riot that would've happened had everyone known in advance. I'm glad I didn't get trampled or had to deal with any more people than we already did, cuz it was nuts...

TwiHusband said...

lallieb - Thanks for the plug, but I ain't smart, just old. ;-)

Yep, I'm a male-type. (snickers) According to my wife we male Twi-fans are referred to as unicorns, because we're rare and shy.

Nik - Re: Photographic evidence, what do they want, photos of them having sex in Trafalgar Square? Then the question will move on to what type of birth control they're using or who got off first. People's need to know things that are none of their business is insatiable. I think if I were ever confronted by one or both of them in a situation where I couldn't gracefully duck, I'd apologize on behalf of the entire planet before I'd ask for an autograph.

As for the photos, just watch them interact on video. See them smirking at each other at public appearances. Either one of them is wearing a "kick me" sign on their back (that the other one slapped on them), or they're in love. (grins)

Oh, and don't worry about the gender confusion. In this fandom it just keeps happening. Some poor girl on ff.net nearly died of embarrassment when she assumed that she'd blundered on my gender. (chuckles) It's my own damn fault. I love to cook (which is good because my wife can't) and I like a good chick flick as much as I like bullets and car chases. Speaking of which...I'm listening to the soundtrack from "Last of the Mohicans" as I type. Madeline Stowe. (sighs)
