IFC Films has acquired Queen of the Desert and they're bringing it stateside Spring 2017! I was lucky enough to see the film last year but there are so many Rob fans that have not been able to catch Rob as T.E. Lawrence. That is a tragedy!!!!!!! I'm hoping the film makes it to theaters (some gorgeous shots in QOTD) but also VOD so more of you can see it.

Check out the press release:
IFC Films announced today from the American Film Market conference that the company has acquired US rights to Werner Herzog‘s QUEEN OF THE DESERT. The film, written and directed by Herzog, stars Nicole Kidman, James Franco, Robert Pattinson and Damian Lewis.
The film was produced by Michael Benaroya, Cassian Elwes and Nick Raslan and was executive produced by Jonathan Debin, Cathy Gesualdo, James Lejsek, Ben Sachs, D. Todd Shepherd, Shelley Madison, Harmon Kaslow and John Aglialoro. IFC Films will release QUEEN OF THE DESERT in Spring 2017.
QUEEN OF THE DESERT is the true story of British explorer, cartographer and archaeologist Gertrude Bell (Kidman). Set against the backdrop of the disintegration of the Ottoman Empire, Bell sets off on an epic odyssey as an attachĂ© of the British Empire to chart and define the modern borders of the Middle East.
IFC Films stated: “The entire team at IFC Films is thrilled to be working once more with Werner Herzog who is undoubtedly a modern master of cinema. Having previously worked with him on his award-winning CAVE OF FORGOTTEN DREAMS, Werner continues to bring innovation, elegance and poignancy to each of his films and his latest work is no exception.”
The deal was negotiated by Arianna Bocco, EVP of Acquisitions and Production from Sundance Selects/IFC Films, with Cassian Elwes, Lawrence Kopeikin and CAA on behalf of the filmmakers.
IFC Films is a sister label to Sundance Selects and IFC Midnight, and is owned and operated by AMC Networks Inc.
QUEEN OF THE DESERT was financed by Benaroya Pictures.

I'm still skeptical about the US release date. Someone could have plugged that in with the assumption that the UK date that went around with the trailer was also the US date. Believe at your own risk. I'm waiting for another source.

When will Bel Ami grace us with Robert Pattinson?

A few days ago we posted this rumour/mistake/dream/wish/hope from the Hollywood Reporter... and although we still don't have a concrete answer either way, IMDB now has October 19th, 2011 listed as the release date for Bel Ami in the US.

Like Tink, and Kate and Goz.... and most probably all of you, I want this SO BAD. So wish upon your wishing stars, and together we will make it happen!

So The Hollywood Reporter has a Breaking Dawn gallery. Exciting. What's REALLY exciting is the description used for one of the photos:

Pattinson, who recently appeared in Francis Lawrence's Water for Elephants, will also star in Bel Ami with Uma Thurman; the film is set for an October 19th release.

From MTV

"On 'Water For Elephants,' every day there would be, like, 50 people [staked out]," he recalled. "We shot in Tennessee for about a week and there would be people camped out in the hallways of our hotel. All day, all night long, it didn't matter. People were there to try to catch a glimpse. I'm proud of the movie, I'm actually sitting in the cutting room right now."

Even though filming wrapped at the beginning of August, Francis said he's not even close to being done with the editing process. "This is only my fourth week of cutting," he said. "Then I just took a quick two-week vacation, and now I'm cutting. So I'm probably cutting all the way up to Christmas. I think it's gonna be [a spring release], but it has not been confirmed yet."
