Torture Tuesday with Robert Pattinson: 6 more weeks

Torture Tuesday with Robert Pattinson: 6 more weeks

It was announced in 2009 that Rob would be playing Georges Duroy. Waiting for this film to hit the screen has been the longest torture I've experienced in my ROBsession.

Now I don't have just one date to look forward to. I have 3!
  • May 4th at 12am ET, Bel Ami is available on VOD. Click HERE for more info on how to view the film at home.
  • June 8th, DuRob is LARGE on the big screen. The film makes it the US!
  • July 23rd, Bring DuRob into the boudoir! Click HERE to pre-order the DVD or Bluray!
To celebrate the end of a loooooooooooooooong wait, we're going to turn Torture Tuesday over to DuRob - a master of tantalizing torture. I decided for the first DuRob themed TT, we should take a trip back to Spring 2010 Budapest...

Yup. We wants to go to there?
This next video was when Rob did the "moonwalk" during filming. Or was it a lazy running man? ;) He was likely just walking backwards but what fun is that? Look for Rob bustin' a move around 3:40

After you get past the odd :30 in the beginning of this next vid, you pretty much fall in love with watching ActorRob prep his scenes and get into character. It's a bit of a bonus the video maker chose Rob's soulful voice as the musical accompaniment.

This final vid is TOO cute. After filming his scenes for the evening, he spoke Hungarian to the fans waiting for him. He thanked them from being quiet during filming, smiled, waved and slayed dozens of Hungarian women.

Rob: Torturing the ladies since 1986. See you next Tuesday with DuRob and 5 weeks left!
Oh...and because I just KNOW you want this...here's the gif of that first video. ;)

The Herald talks Robert Pattinson and Bel Ami

Robert Pattinson heads from Twilight to darkness in Bel Ami

Twilight made him a heartthrob ... and Robert Pattison is ramping up his sexual adventures (Kat - OMG, kill me now) in his new film which is previewed at Glasgow Film Festival. He talks to Will Lawrence

Photobucket

'There are lots of attractive women in the film," says Robert Pattinson of his latest screen release, Bel Ami.

"Christina Ricci, Uma Thurman and Kristen Scott Thomas..." He pauses before flashing a smile. "And I sleep with all of them!" (Kat - I said kill me now... stop the torture!)

After five years cocooned in a teenage Twilight world of angst, anger, vampires and werewolves (in which sleeping with people is a complicated process), the 25-year-old Englishman clearly enjoyed this romp through 19th-century Paris.

Perhaps the best known of the six novels by French short story writer Guy de Maupassant, Bel Ami is certainly his most subversive, savage and ironic piece, charting the tale of Georges Duroy, a young man who travels through 1890s' Paris, from cockroach-plagued garrets to magnificent salons, employing his wits and beauty as he bids to rise from poverty to fame.

The story comes to the big screen in March — previewed by early screenings at the Glasgow Film Festival later this month — courtesy of theatre directors Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod, who have put together a piece that resonates strongly today, regardless of its period setting.

"This character uses sex and women's huge attraction for him to get to the top of the pile," says Donnellan of Duroy. "It's an unremitting world and, in the end, he gets the lot. There are no consequences for him. People think it's very modern, somebody getting to the top with very little talent. Duroy has an enormous desire to get to the top, and that is his talent. It's about incredibly modern themes. That's one of the thrills of doing this story. It is set in 1890s' Paris but it would almost be too near to the bone to do it now."

To bring the laconic and lovely-looking Duroy to life, the directors turned to Twilight star Pattinson, one of the most desired men on the planet, whose real-life journey, while not quite mirroring the lothario lifestyle of his character, has certainly benefited from his exquisite good looks.

"My Bel Ami guy doesn't have a conscience," explains Pattinson. "Most fictional characters are driven by some target, but he is like a reverse character. He's so content to do nothing and thinks everything should just be given to him. But if someone slights him, or directs any insult at him, the most overwhelming energy grabs him and he turns into this absolute devil who will do anything."

Robert Pattinson's Bel Ami & Cosmopolis are notable films for 2012

Robert Pattinson's Bel Ami & Cosmopolis are notable films for 2012

Yeah I'm using this gif again...it can not be denied.

Photobucket

Bel Ami is on Dark Horizon as a notable film for 2012:
Bel Ami
Opens: 2012
Cast: Uma Thurman, Robert Pattinson, Christina Ricci, Kristin Scott Thomas
Director: Declan Donnellan, Nick Ormerod

Analysis: Though it shares the same name as Europe's most prestigious hardcore gay porn studio, this is an adaptation of French author Guy de Maupassant's much beloved 1885 novel about a young former soldier who screws his way up the social ladder of Parisian high society.

Recent trailers show a period faithful film that's pretty to look at but oddly inert in emotion, a not unexpected sign considering the author's legendarily efficient and involving prose is very difficult to translate on screen. As a classic French tale, if this English-language adaptation proves anything less than adequate it will likely get torn apart by European critics.
Hm...well we know the faithful fans love it. They also listed Cosmopolis as a notable film for 2012 :)
Cosmopolis
Opens: 2012
Cast: Robert Pattinson, Paul Giamatti, Jay Baruchel, Juliette Binoche, Kevin Durand
Director: David Cronenberg

Analysis: After reinventing himself with 2005's "A History of Violence", David Cronenberg's second coming has kept up its strong track record with both "Eastern Promises" and this year's "A Dangerous Method" scoring very good notices.

Now comes this high-concept adaptation of Don DeLillo's popular novel in which "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson plays a financial whiz who risks his immense fortune by betting against the yen on one particularly chaotic day.

Much of the action is set inside a limousine with Pattinson's character transported from one location to another so expect a fairly tight little piece akin to "Phone Booth" - a deliberate comparison considering Colin Farrell was originally cast in the lead role.

Pattinson has yet to really tackle a film not primarily aimed at women, and it'll be an interesting experiment to see if both critics and Cronenberg fans can get over their issues with a "Twilight" star being in this and judge it fairly.
We hope they can get over their issues too. Rob's got talent. Deal with it.
Vote for Rob, everyone! Voting ends tomorrow at 5pm ET.

Natalia Tena talks about filming sex scenes with Robert Pattinson in Bel Ami

Photobucket

This obviously isn't Natalia but it looks like "fun sex" to me. And "fun sex" with Rob's Bel Ami character, Georges DuRoy, is what Natalia is talking about. Read on...

Recently she finished filming Bel Ami with the all-star cast of Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci and Robert Pattinson. Playing the role of a prostitute, a lustful sex scene unfolds with Twilight’s sparkling vampire, Robert Pattinson. “It’s actually harder to do sex scenes when they’re intimate but when I’m just a prostitute who he’s banging, it’s fun sex, you can have a lot of fun with it.” In between takes the pair were laughing and encouraging each other to “groan louder, louder”.

Oh God...this movie can't come soon enough...

*NEW* Robert Pattinson "Bel Ami" Scenes In Russian TV Report

UPDATE Added You tube version & Translation (scroll down)

There's some NEW Robert Pattinson "Bel Ami" Scenes in this Russian TV Report and they talk a little to Rob too!

GAH now I want the full undubbed, unedited version of this interview, because I'm greedy where Rob is concerned ;-}

Big thanks to our reader Ramona for the tip!

Translation via HolyPoutyFace & Robstenation
Robert Pattinson had left the Twilight Zone for a little while, and starred as a lead-actor in the movie Bel Ami. His co-stars are Uma Thurman and Christina Ricci. What a company! - vampire, serial killer and daughter from the Adams family. Scary, scary melodrama.

Damned womanizer Pattinson, clothed in the 19 century suit and a hat, looks amazingly gorgeous. This time he's playing the part of a seducer Georges Duroy, a sickly-sweet adventurer, who's trying with all his might to get into Paris' high society.

Rob: Georges doesn't differ from other people, he doesn't have a talent, he's not noteworthy, but he knows exactly what he wants.

Maybe with this new role Rob will be able to get rid of association of being a Twilight leech Cullen.

Bel Ami is a screenplay of Guy de Maupassant's novel of the same name. It demands serious approach.

Rob: When I read the script, I learned that this character is absolutely atypical to me. Basically, it's a story about the bad guy, who is ready to do bad things to achieve for the sake of his benefit.

Robert is undoubtly lucky - he's accompanied by real hollywood beauties - Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci, Kristin Scott Thomas. And he has an erotic scene with each of them. Unfortunately, one by one, and not all together.

Christina: There's an intrigue and a game in this story, just like in real life. I think, everyone can find themselves in some character.

Kristin: I like this story about the guy, who can rule the women, arrange them around himself as he see fits. I think, that's interesting enough.

There's always rumours about Robert being involved with his co-stars, after every movie's release. That was with Kristen Stewart from Twilight, and then with Reese Witherspoon after WFE. Who will the journalists marry him to this time, since he has three co-stars? We'll see.

Christina Ricci says Robert Pattinson is absolutely lovely

Photobucket

I can't get enough of this picture. I think we've used it on the blog 3 times within 24 hours.

While promoting her new TV series Pan Am, Christina Ricci's final question was about working with Robert Pattinson in Bel Ami:

What was it like to be seduced by Robert Pattinson for Bel Ami?

RICCI: Oh, he’s absolutely lovely! He’s great in the movie. It’s a very different role for him. It’s classic Guy de Maupassant. It’s very interesting, grittier material. It’s really good.

"Bel Ami" At The Berlin Film Festival In 2012?

Photobucket

Following on from what we were saying yesterday about the possibility Robert Pattinson's "Bel Ami" premiering at the Berlin film festival early next year, it looks like the film sites are carrying this "rumour" too.

Let's hope there's some truth in it and we will FINALLY get to see this!

From Indiewire via PattinsonStew

Based on the book by Guy de Maupassant and featuring Uma Thurman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Christina Ricci, “Bel Ami” will find Pattinson playing George Duroy, a sexy social climber in turn-of-the-century 1890s Paris, who seduces his way to wealth and fame from a poor beginning. Thurman will play the wife of one of Duroy’s friends who eventually marries Pattinson’s seductive schemer. Kristin Scott Thomas will appear as a woman who overestimates Duroy’s attachment to her. These pics show Pattinson easily proving his manhood with the female leads, but whether the film is a winner or not, we won’t know for a while yet. (Kate: Oh I think we already know it's gonna be a winner)

From what we hear, the producers are aiming for a Berlin Film Festival premiere in 2012 and it might be a while later before it hits theaters as the film is still without a distributor. So stay strong RPatz lovers and let these pics tide you over for now. (Kate: Stay strong? I don't think I can stay strong for much longer)

I need to watch this again to help me stay strong..................

Ok so if you're all still alive after those HOT pics..........according to the website that they're on and using Google translator (because I don't speak Russian) it says "Bel Ami" is being released February 2012.

Is this true?

You're guess is as good as mine BUT the movie tie cover of "Bel Ami" is coming out Jan 2012 & also "RUMOUR" has it that it will premiere at the Berlin Film Festival (which is in February) so.......

Here's the translation done with Google Translator (& for once it's actually not too bad) but the important bit is at the end.

"Robert Pattinson looks equally good as in the image of the modern vampire, and in the way of the XIX century dandy. You can verify this by looking at the new footage from the movie "Dear Friend" (Kate: I don't know why this translated as "Dear Friend" unless that's what they're going to call it in Russia :-?)

No prizes for guessing that the picture - the screen of the novel by French classic Guy de Maupassant. The main character Georges Duroy (Pattinson) - typical minion of fortune. And women. In spite of his peasant background, George achieves inconceivable heights of career and enviable status in society. And all because he did not scruple to use his looks and his adoring women. However, if at first he does not act with malicious intent, it soon becomes a complete scoundrel.

Robert Pattinson has repeatedly recognized the novel "Bel Ami" - one of his favorite works, so the image of a charming but ill-suited hero actor carefully. We think it was easy, because the company made Pattinson experienced actress Uma Thurman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Christina Ricci.

We look forward to the movie release (it will be in February 2012), and, to be honest - even more than the new part of the "Twilight" saga. In the end, we know Rob for so many years as the good guy, but we've never seen him as a villain."

Robert Pattinson's "Bel Ami" Showing At The Baltic Pearl Film Festival in Latvia?

Rumours have been going around that Robert Pattinson's "Bel Ami" could possibly be shown at the Baltic Pearl Film Festival in Latvia which runs from September 15th through the 25th.

Photobucket

It is listed on the festival's wesbsite page and appeared on the festivals twitter page as a film being included in the festival.

RobPattzNews contacted the orgainisers for more information they were told "they can't release screening dates or any additional information, until an announcement on a world premiere is made. They are hoping it will come soon, and as part of the Toronto Film Festival lineup."

The full schedule for that festival is to be released August 23rd (so hopefully not too long more to wait for news).

Kristin Scott Thomas talks about Robert Pattinson in Bel Ami

Kristin Scott Thomas talks about Robert Pattinson in Bel Ami

We are SO ready for promo on this film, aren't we? Kristin was promoting another film but Bel Ami was discussed.

The intro to the article:

Kristin Scott Thomas is firmly on Team Edward. Yes, she's starring now in a wrenching film about the Holocaust. But Thomas, 51, also shot the period drama Bel Ami with Twilight's Robert Pattinson and laughs when asked about his appeal. "Yes, I understand, I understand," she says with a cool chuckle.

And the question about Rob:

Q: Tell me about working with Pattinson in Bel Ami.

A: (Laughs) He is absolutely charming and delightful, and he looks very good in a top hat.

Yes indeed...

Media coverage of Robert Pattinson's Bel Ami trailer

Media coverage of Robert Pattinson's Bel Ami trailer

What. a. day. That trailer hit and the fandom when WILD! *cue stadium screams*

I loved how well received the leaked trailer was and wanted to share a few sites that gave our boy some props :)

Click each site link to read the entire post

Robert Pattinson is seething with lust in an explosive portrayal of Guy de Maupassant’s scandalous protagonist in a leaked trailer of “Bel Ami,” a movie about decadent French society, co-starring Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci and Kristin Scott Thomas.
This could be the film where Pattinson establishes himself as an actor, on par with Marlon Brando, James Dean and Richard Burton.

He exudes lust, desire and ambition as a “penniless” soldier who’s determined to find his place in French society by seducing the wives of powerful men at the center of Parisian society.

Photobucket

Los Angeles Times
Robert Pattinson's much anticipated "Breaking Dawn" sex scene might not hold an oil lamp to the action in the actor's upcoming period piece, "Bel Ami," if a trailer leaked Friday is any indication.

Photobucket

Hollywood.com
Wow. After watching Robert Pattinson basically grow up in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the Twilight saga and Water for Elephants, I'd basically give up hope that the twentysomething heartthrob could escape his soft-spoken typecasting and become the next Johnny Depp or Leonardo Dicaprio.
But after a few snippets of scenes from his latest indie period drama Bel Ami, I'm starting to wonder if he's been hiding his real talents in order to survive the Twi-hards!

Photobucket

The Daily Mail
It looks like Robert Pattinson’s career as a Hollywood heartthrob is far from reaching its Twilight.

The hunky English actor is getting ready for the release of his most outrageous movie yet, in which he stars as a philandering Frenchman who sleeps with married women to advance his social status.

He shines as cad Georges Duroy in Bel Ami, who travels through 1890s Paris using his attractiveness to seduce influential older women.

Photobucket

The Film Stage
Forget San Diego Comic-Con, the real superhero is Robert Pattinson and his unrelenting charm in the first trailer for his drama Bel Ami.

Photobucket

Cinemablend
This trailer for Bel Ami gets it. The movie stars Robert Pattinson and someone involved somewhere in their marketing department seems to not only understand who he is, but who his audience is. Robert Pattinson is the girl-crush of every woman who has ever read or will read a romance novel. Women want to fantasize about being seduced by him, bedded by him, swept off their feet by him. So the first trailer for Bel Ami is nothing but a series of sequences in which Robert Pattinson does that to a series of different women of all ages.

Photobucket

Alt Film Guide
I'm no fangirl, but I'm looking forward to this one.
