athenia_22 @chrisweitz if you had to choose either rob or kristen to babysit your son who would you choose? hehe

CW: Taylor

AwesomeArianna @chrisweitz It's whateva wednesday right? Random: Did you guys use Virgin Airlines in NM as a crack towards E/B virginity? Please do tell!

CW: Yes, the idea of using that airline amused me....

tucheer83 @chrisweitz Since I'm watching NewMoon I have 2 ask: Y didn't you have Edward steal the pics from Bella but decided to let them disappear?

CW: Film narrative -- seeing him steal the pics would give away the game. But seeing them not there all at once would, to me, lessen the impact

tucheer83 @chrisweitz Now here's the season's scene. Y didn't you let Edward take the pics like the book & chose to let them disappear off the wall?

CW: Yeh. Nice to see it in the process of happening; her heart is still breaking.

mvdsbRDTP: @chrisweitz in BD do you think edwards penis should sparkle?? ;)

CW: only if he is nude sunbathing

(Tink: We were almost there...)

Photobucket

jeihlynn0921 @chrisweitz i want to ask if in the future you still want to work with Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stew and also Taylor Lautner?

CW: Turning irony off... Yes, yes. I like the all very much. Fond memories.

JimiMarie @chrisweitz so who's idea was it to have edward park across 10 parking spaces in New Moon?

CW: Me... Better pictorial arrangement. Bu I like that Edward don't give a f--- !

Photobucket

DrVivibuff @chrisweitz In NM there r some scenes were you put things that normally not everyone would notice, like Volterra on Bella's Romeo&Juliet book, or Jacobs Tshirt, Dream catcher on Edwards face, the golden compass attached to Bella's bag... do you do that kind of stuff in all your movies.. or was this at first 4 you?

CW: I always do this sort of thing, though I did more than usual in NM. It's fun to play semantic games!

MizzezPattinson @chrisweitz If you could direct any movie of your choice and have ROB star in it, what would it be? ♥

CW: There's a great fantasy series called The Prince of Nothing by R. Scott Bakker. Rob would be great in it.

RobPattMoms: @chrisweitz in which role? Anasûrimbor Kellhus?

CW: but of course, no? perfect, no? Good catch

(Tink: A little info from wikipedia: This trilogy details the emergence of Anasûrimbor Kellhus, a brilliant monastic warrior, as he takes control of a holy war and the hearts and minds of its leaders. Kellhus exhibits incredible powers of prediction and persuasion, which are derived from deep knowledge of rationality, cognitive biases, and causality, as discovered by the Dûnyain, a secret monastic sect. As Kellhus goes from military leader to divine prophet, Drusas Achamian, the sorcerer who mentored Kellhus, comes to realize that his student may well be the harbinger of the Second Apocalypse.)

eclipse_patz @chrisweitz Hi!! could you please explain that scene where you say cut and they continue, I wonder how long continued?

(Tink: Here's the video she linked in her inquiry)

CW: What can I say, NOBODY LISTENS TO ME

PattzManiacas: @chrisweitz HOW IS WORKING WITH ROBERT ??

CW: HE SPOKE VERY QUIETLY

And there ya have it! You know this isn't the last of him ;) Follow Chris Weitz HERE if you'd like to know more about New Moon and other funny and informative ramblings.

Chris Weitz talks Robert Pattinson on Twitter

New Moon director, Chris Weitz, recently joined twitter and tonight, he answered many fan questions about Robert Pattinson :)

Here are some highlights:

@heyitsdani @chrisweitz what do you think about water for elephants' trailer, new Robert pattinson movie?
Chris Weitz: That's my boy right there. Looks lovely. I'm in line 1st weekend.

Tink: awwwww :)) Showing Rob some love for his WFE trailer day.

@tinkrbe1l3 @chrisweitz what happened to that kissing scene Chris...the one OUTSIDE in Montepulciano? (still love what u did with NM :))
Chris Weitz: Oh. Well, even with R+K, too much of a good thing...

Tink: say whaaaa? Look who got a question answered :)) You guys have NO idea how much I've b*tched about this missing scene. It was smokin' hawt and GONE. At least I still loved CW...unlike some OTHER Twilight directors *eyes Slade* I can't even broach the subject of the horrifically edited scene post-dog kiss.

@robzsinger1 @chrisweitz Is Rob even more dreamy in person? do tell. ;)
Chris Weitz: He is so dreamy that I am sometimes asleep while talking to him.

Tink: And this sealed the deal. Chris Weitz is hilarious and I'm following him now.
Visit Robstenation to read what he said about New Moon, Kristen, and Taylor and give him a follow if you like his witty banter. I'm a little smitten by him since he answered a question of mine that has haunted me since Nov. 20, 2009 ;) Even though his response wasn't exactly lengthy, I'm satisfied and appreciate the director of the film even bothering with my question. Thanks for the closure on this:

I told him to stick it in the director's cut box set :P

Chris Weitz talks about Robert Pattinson and New Moon with a Lucky Contest Winner

JennyBrutal was lucky enough to win the @Twilight Sweeps Contest and was able to talk with Chris Weitz on the phone. Below are the questions about Rob and Edward - you can read the full interview HERE.

I know Edward's car is now a dark silver, but was there any reason for the change?

Availability. Volvo wanted to introduce a new car into the series, instead of the older model. So they provided a newer model, brown Volvo. Immediately we knew it had to be repainted, and chose a dark, non-shiny, black colour. It added more to the first Edward scene in the movie, the feeling is upbeat but the colour of the vehicle adds to the danger lurking.

I really enjoyed the added scene with Victoria swimming towards Bella. (The book hints to the orange colour the water was reflecting, in a later revelation by Bella.) How did this scene come to be?

Well, the orange coloured water wouldn't have looked right in the scene so we put her in the water visibly. That scene was difficult because we wanted to film her swimming towards Bella but it had to be at a distance. If it wasn't at a distance fans would wonder why Victoria didn't just get her in that short scene, but at the same time it had to feel threatening. That was all shot in Vancouver in a swimming pool, we had the actors underwater with four or five frog men with air tubes for security purposes. We also had green screens in the water surrounding the actors so we could CGI in all the particals in the water. Theres actually a program to add in all of the floating debris and colour differences in the water after filming. Kristen had a cold at the time and was scared of drowning. We had to force her to stay in the water [laughter] But Rob was more comfortable in the water, hes had to shoot underwater scenes in the past. [Harry Potter]

Were there any scenes that you would have loved to see in the film but never made the final cut?

Yes, one scene. Theres a scene with a motorcycle crash that gives more of a sense of danger. The reason why it didn't make the final cut was because of weather reasons, it was just too sunny to be considered Forks. The DVD will include that scene as well as extended scenes. Some of the extended scenes include more of Edward's visit to the Volturi concerning his immortality and more from the scene between Carlisle and Bella. [when he was stitching Bella up.] In one of the early drafts of the script this scene was not in the movie. Immediately I knew that had to change, it was essential to the story line.

“New Moon” takes #3 all-time best opening weekend with $140.7M

Summit Entertainment now officially estimates that The Twilight Saga: New Moon took in $140.7M from 4024 theaters this weekend. This puts the film in third place for all-time opening weekends, behind The Dark Knight ($158.4M) and Spider-Man 3 ($151.1M) and ahead of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest ($135.6M). The film also hauled in $158.8M internationally. This was the widest opening of all time for an independent film and the biggest ever box office opening for an indie.

There was a 41% drop from Friday to Saturday, about the exact same percentage decrease Twilight had one year ago (down 40.8% Saturday, down 41.9% Sunday). Another 40% drop going into Sunday, based on advance sales, tracking polls, and other industry formulas, brings the weekend total to $140.7M.

For those who are new to the box office numbers game, it may seem odd to have these figures when Sunday isn't even over yet. But it is standard procedure to have weekend totals announced at this time. After the Saturday box office totals come in on Sunday morning, studios always estimate Sunday and come up with a weekend projection. Of course, Sunday and weekend figures can only be estimates at this point. The actual Sunday numbers aren't known until Monday. But many years and literally thousands of projections have yielded formulas that allow the industry to predict fairly closely what Sunday will be based on Friday and Saturday's numbers and, therefore, what the weekend will look like. The actual numbers that come in on Monday are usually not too far off from the estimates made on Sunday. They usually adjust slightly up or down but are rarely far off.
