'New Moon' To Receive Fan Choice Award At ShoWest

In the eyes of the Academy Awards, "The Hurt Locker" was the Best Picture of 2009. But a loyal army of Twilighters feel differently — and this week, they're making their opinions known at one of Hollywood's most visible annual conventions.

"The Twilight Saga: New Moon" has been selected for the ShoWest/Fandango Fan Choice Award, which will be presented Thursday at ShoWest's Final Night Banquet and Award Ceremony at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas. The Fan Choice Award was voted on by nearly 50,000 moviegoers, who were asked on Fandango to select their favorite film of 2009.

ShoWest, the largest annual convention for the motion-picture industry, is currently under way in Las Vegas. This year's installment will once again end with the celebrated Banquet and Award Ceremony, where awards will also be presented to Vanessa Hudgens, Zach Galifianakis, Amanda Seyfried, Sam Worthington and Jerry Bruckheimer. Rumor has it that a producer from the "Twilight" series will accept the award, and a special video message from one of the franchise's top stars will be played for those in attendance.

"You might have guessed that 'Avatar' would have won the Fan Choice Award, since 'Avatar' was the top ticket-seller in our company's history," explained Fandango Chief Marketing Officer Ted Hong. "But never bet against the passion, loyalty and dedication of the vociferous 'Twilight' fans."

The sequel to "Twilight" garnered nearly 66 percent of the vote — although "Hurt Locker" shouldn't feel too bad, as the same studio (Summit Entertainment) showed off its diversity in 2009 by releasing both films.

"Moviegoers on Fandango have been behind the franchise from the very beginning, and that's why the first 'Twilight' movie won the Fan Choice Award last year," Hong added. "The big question will be whether or not 'Eclipse' will be in the running for next year's award, and if the franchise can pull off a three-peat."

"We are thrilled to once again have the opportunity to partner with Fandango to present the ShoWest/Fandango Fan Choice Award at this year's ShoWest Final Night Banquet and Award Ceremony," ShoWest managing director Robert Sunshine said in a statement. "It is no surprise that the fans have chosen the box-office hit 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' as this year's recipient, and we are excited to present the film with this award."

Who's your man? Loud and clear - Robert Pattinson!

Well leave EW.com a comment here... and of course... leave us a comment too!

Johnny, Matt, Leo, or RPattz: Who's your man?

For the record, I swear I will never again write the word “RPattz.” Blame it on the dizzying effects of the storm that turned the East Coast upside down on Saturday, ripping giant trees out by their roots. But you know what I mean: Depp, Damon, DiCaprio, and Pattinson all wanted you to choose them this past weekend, offering a quartet of movies that, taken together, might be read as the resting pulse of serious, mainstream American cinema. Which is why I’ve always had a particular fondness for springtime wide releases: They’re so content to be what they are. There’s no pretense, no great expectations. Spring movies don’t rattle their chains and bellow like summer joy-ride blockbusters; they don’t hustle for prestige (with the best of manners, of course) like autumnal Oscar bait. What you see is what you get.

And by that measure, Alice in Wonderland, Green Zone, Shutter Island, and Remember Me comprise a pretty classy assortment pack. (For the mainstream comedy alternative, add She’s Out Of My League.) Here’s Tim Burton’s family fairytale made by one of the medium’s most inventive visual stylists, starring one of the medium’s most interesting chameleons; Paul Greengrass’ distinctive action pic, incorporating essential information about current events; Martin Scorsese’s lavish construction of a big old spooky junky thriller; and dewy romantic mush that ends with the kind of howling tonal misstep that makes bad movies interesting.

When you look it at it that way: Cool! (And no one is angling for an award!)

So who was your man this weekend?

Robert Pattinson Talks To "On The Red Carpet"

Robert Pattinson sinks teeth into new role in 'Remember Me'

Twilight hunk Robert Pattinson has more to him than a gaze to send hearts aflutter.

In the new romantic drama Remember Me, Pattinson stars opposite Lost's Emile de Ravin as they fall in love while coming to terms with their own personal tragedies. But Pattinson also took his talents to the other side of the lens, as an executive producer on the film.

"There was something so powerful about it, when I first read the script," Pattison told On The Red Carpet's George Pennacchio (who was pretty under the weather at the time). "I didn't want it to be compromised in any way... So I said anything I can do... if anyone tries to mess around with it, I want to do my bit to protect it."

It turns out he's pretty comfortable in the producer's chair, "I'd love to do a film as a producer right from the beginning. I'm hoping to do that over the next few years."

Pattinson also said he's proud of the movie's message, and how the ending makes the audience think.

"I don't want to make something just for entertainment value," he joked. "I don't find myself very entertaining."

Robert Pattinson Interview with NJ.com

Some of this looks new, some looks familiar - all in all a 'new' article...

Robert Pattinson interview- 'Twilight' star wants to go from heartthrob to serious actor

"I don’t know why I didn’t see it coming,” Robert Pattinson says with a small smile. “I thought I’d be doing this tiny little film in New York, just hang out in New York.”

It didn’t quite work out that way.

Pattinson made the “tiny little film,” all right — a perfectly right-sized indie called “Remember Me” that opened Friday, with Pattinson and Emilie de Ravin as college lovers and Pierce Brosnan and Chris Cooper as the fathers who inevitably complicate things.

It was the filming itself that was over the top.

“It was nightmarish,” says director Allen Coulter, who handled the on-location shoot. “How he managed it, I don’t know. The paparazzi and the hordes of females?”

At one point in the movie, Pattinson’s character — a Holden Caulfield-ish rich kid named Tyler — has a chat with his tween sister in a city park. Coulter says hundreds of screaming fans showed up, hoping for a glimpse of the “Twilight” phenomenon.

“Just bedlam,” the filmmaker says. “But I thought he handled it very well. He thought about nothing but the film. He’s quite an actor.”

Co-star Brosnan — who wryly allows that “I’ve had my own fair share of admirers, long may it last” — says he was impressed by how Pattinson has been handling the “vortex of fame.”

“As a man of certain years and time in this business, and having sons, I want the best for this young man in every possible way,” he says. “And I think he’s acquitting himself grandly. I think he’s got a head on his shoulders.”

“Pierce was very mentoring on the set,” Coulter says. “He felt very paternal, certainly.”

The younger star’s appearances in public require a certain amount of forethought, subterfuge, quick thinking and stolid security. (During this interview, a very large and unsmiling man stood outside the door to his suite). The details of his private life — which he works hard to keep private — are the subject of rumor, analysis and outright fiction.

Case in point: his “Twilight” co-star Kristen Stewart. Since that movie series began, fans — and celebrity muckrakers — have tried to link them. First, the young stars denied a romance. Then they simply said nothing. Finally, haltingly, the actor confirmed to a British paper, “We are together, yes.” (Kat - you might want to re-check your source on that little quote!)

But the two young stars still play it carefully, avoiding being photographed together, entering parties separately. “If there’s a photo, they’ll write a story about it,” a wised-up Pattinson observes. “If there’s not a photo, no one seems to care.”

Huffington Post - Robert Pattinson's draw as a movie star.

The Huffington Post talks about the weekend box office numbers.

The most oddly high-profile release of the weekend was the romantic drama Remember Me. The film was seen by many as a test of Twilight star Robert Pattinson's draw as a movie star. Of course, if Summit was trying to prop up the numbers by attaching the Twilight Saga: Eclipse trailer to prints of Remember Me, it might have helped if they had NOT released the trailer online the day before the opening. So while some may decry the 'mere' $8.3 million, we must recall that a movie like this wouldn't have made $1.75 if not for what drawing power Pattinson has. Sure Shia Labeouf can open slickly-marketed thrillers like Eagle Eye and Disturbia, but let's see what happens when he has to open a movie all-by himself that doesn't already look particularly appealing.

Besides, as word leaked out about the film's extended-middle finger of an ending, even some of Pattinson's die hard fans apparently decided to stay away. Speaking of females, the gender split was 84/16 on this one. Point being, if he can open Remember Me to $8.3 million all by himself, he may just be a movie star.
