Rob leaves Vancouver for LA then France and Italy

As we reported before Rob will be at Cannes on May 19th. (Rob in a tux again? Yes pelase! :))

Back home for a break before resuming filming, Robert Pattinson had quite the action-packed stay while residing up in Vancouver for “New Moon”.

Aside from hopping back into his beloved role of Edward Cullen, the hunky “Twilight” stud enjoyed both a cast wrap party and a 23rd birthday celebration during the course of his time in Canada.

As for his birthday party, Rob was joined by family and co-stars, with fans quickly taking notice as they ran up to try and meet the “New Moon” stud.

One lucky fan gushed, “I was so happy to see Rob and help him celebrate his 23rd birthday. He took the time to meet us and take a picture with us, that was so cool.”

Finally finished up in Vancouver, Pattinson has since jetted back to LA, but will soon be shooting scenes in Italy - as everyone involved try to wrap things up in time for the much-anticipated November 20th release of “New Moon”.

"Little Ashes" to be shown @ Cannes

Regent Worldwide Sales, the sales affiliate of Regent Entertainment, and CineTel Films have entered into a ‘strategic alliance’ for international sales of television and DVD rights, the companies announced Friday from Cannes.

Regent and CineTel titles at this year’s Cannes Marche du Film include “Little Ashes,” a historical drama about the college years of Salvador Dali and Federico Garcia Lorca, starring Robert Pattinson (“Twilight”) and Javier Beltran, Slamdance entry “Weathergirl” starring Tricia O’Kelly and Marc Harmon, “Icarus,” starring and directed by Dolph Lundgren and “I Spit on Your Grave,” the remake of the highly controversial 1978 cult classic.

They’ve had to postpone these scenes due to weather, now must rush him through the shoot to get him out on schedule. It’s supposed to be a beautiful day in Vancouver today. Which is perfect because – get ready for it Twi-hards – today they are shooting in the Meadow.

It’s a dreamy sequence. In the Meadow, Bella sees herself get old, looks like her grandma. And Edward wishes grandma happy birthday. Then they’re young together and lying in the field and looking at each other and it’s pretty.

New Moon Poster Premiere?

There are some conflicting reports on New Moon Poster Premiere this weekend. Twilight Saga Salt Lake City and Twilight Saga Denver (both official pages) announced on Twitter that the New Moon Poster would premiere this weekend but then the Denver page updated with "plans have changed...details TBD" so don't hold your breath ;) You can keep staring at the gorgeous fan made poster posted below until the real one comes along...

And right after I made this post they both tweeted that the release has been pushed for next week ;)

He's only 25, but Spanish actor Javier Beltran is already being compared to the likes of Antonio Banderas-and making out with 'Twilight' heartthrob Rob Pattinson. Now in his first major feature film, 'Little Ashes,' which opened on May 8, Beltran stars as legendary Spanish writer Federico Garcia Lorca. The actor talked to us about playing a Spanish legend, why he thinks people compare him to Banderas and what it was like sharing hot make-out sessions with Edward Cullen himself.

What is your film, 'Little Ashes,' about?

It is the story of two geniuses, Federico Garcia Lorca and Salvador Dali, who share their lives, their art and their way of seeing the world.

Why should people go see this movie?

Lorca and Dali­ were two historical geniuses, and to be able to know their relationship would be interesting for anyone. The important thing is that they make a connection because they were very different and they had different ways of thinking, and this is the main issue of the film.

What was most unique about Dali's relationship with Lorca?

What I find very interesting is that at a predetermined period in history, in Spain, two geniuses— Lorca and Dali-became friends and shared their lives. They influenced each other greatly. Lorca would write a play and Dali­ would produce the designs.

People can't stop talking about the sex scenes you share with your costar, 'Twilight' heartthrob Rob Pattinson. Were they difficult to do?

No. It was not uncomfortable. The hard part was to transmit the emotions of my character. That was the challenge. But the scenes came out really well. I am very proud of this film. I would love for people to see this movie, because it's a very good movie.

Millions of girls want to know what it feels like to make out with Rob Pattinson-tell us, is he a good kisser?

(Laughs). He's okay. He's good.

A lot of people are calling this a 'gay' film. Do you agree that it is?

It's not just that. But I like that people are talking about the movie. I also think that Rob's success with 'Twilight' will make people see this movie, and if they want to see Rob, that's great, because they'll see the film too. He does a splendid and wonderful job as Dali.

This film is entirely in English, but your first language is Spanish. Was it difficult to learn the English necessary to play the part?

I studied for two months with a coach. Each day, I spent many hours studying. I spoke English before the film, but I still had to study to make this movie.

Did you feel a lot of pressure-since you're a Spaniard-to portray Lorca accurately and make your fellow Spaniards proud?

Yes. It's a responsibility. He's not just any character; he's one of the best Spain has ever had, and he was an incredible man. But the same time, it was a pleasure. I'm very excited for the Spanish premiere of the film. I'm interested in the response of the Spanish audience, and I hope they'll enjoy it.

Why do you think some people are comparing you to Antonio Banderas?

Because I'm Spanish! It's very pleasant to me to be compared with him. He is a great actor with an astonishing career and he has done a lot for Spanish actors around the world. In Spain, he made very good films!

Little Ashes in Tampa, Florida

Good News for Tampa residents! There is a special event going on at the Tampa Theater in Florida on May 15-17.

Dr. Hank Hine, director of the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, has seen the Little Ashes already and will host a Q&A after Saturday's 7:30pm showing on May 16th.

Other museum officers will handle those duties after Friday and Sunday's 7:30pm performances.

Paul Morrison's Little Ashes, a portrait of the artist Salvador Dali as a young man, is more than a movie to Dr. Hank Hine. As director of the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg since 2001, Hine sees Little Ashes as another method of expanding awareness of Dali, his unique life and accomplishments.

Hine viewed a DVD copy of Little Ashes before discussing it with the St. Petersburg Times. He'll also appear at Saturday night's 7:30 screening of the film at the Tampa Theatre to answer questions after the show. (Other museum officers will handle those duties at Friday and Sunday's 7:30 performances.)

Little Ashes deals with Dali during his academy days, forging friendships with his peers, filmmaker Luis Bunuel and poet Federico Garcia Lorca. Is that a wise focus?

I wasn't sure what story they would weave together because there are so many stories in Dali's life, so many associations with so many different people in different contexts: from Spain, to Picasso and the surrealists in Paris, his connections to the United States, Hollywood, the Beatles, the Pope, (Francisco) Franco, the king of Spain. . . . But I think this was a good filmic choice, to choose a moment of formative intersections, connecting to these other artists who hold great interest for the public.

Especially with Lorca, whom the movie depicts as sharing a homoerotic romance with Dali.

First of all, it's not known if they were lovers. Dali was always ambiguous about it. I don't think there's anything documented about Dali having homosexual relations.

He did have a great deal of curiosity about other people's sexuality. He liked being voyeuristic. These other things are not known, but one imagines from the elasticity in his own identity that he could have been bisexual.

I'm sure that will surprise fans of Robert Pattinson (Twilight), who plays Dali. What did you think of his portrayal?

He did a good job of capturing that noncommittal aspect of Dali, who wasn't committed to the Lorca relationship, nor was he fully withdrawn; he vacillated.

What we're told about Dali — and this is the place where (the film) may have overstepped a bit — is that he was really reticent about any kind of physical contact. They did a good job establishing his reticence, that ambivalence he had about connecting with others.

I was surprised that the movie, at least in early scenes, portrays Dali as socially awkward, not the brash artist we know best.

As (Dali) describes it, he had a lot of social unease. When he met (artist) Paul Eluard and his wife, Gala (who later married Dali), they came to visit and apparently Dali used to laugh uncontrollably, get almost hysterical. Gala, he claims, was the calming influence in his life.

Little Ashes is fairly conventional filmmaking, although Dali's art and life were anything but conventional. How do you think he would feel about this movie?

Dali was famous for saying: "The more confusion, the better." To the extent that the movie shows a confused view of his sexuality, I think he would applaud it.

First paragraph:
Reading a masterpiece, to like and to know it by heart is a thing, but always, one doesn’t know how this materpeice came to the world, how it was thought up, created by its author. For what is the first book in the saga, Twilight, Stephanie wrote in only three months, and this is short for a book of this volume. While working on writing it, she didn’t sleep much, and worked on it mainly after taking care of her children (? Not sure about that sentence). She wrote every night. The other books in the saga took longer to write, and according to the other intervies, wrote less and less quickly. Finally, Tentation occupied five months of her life, contrary to a year for Revelation (I don’t know which books received which titles in France, so fill in the blanks if you know which books took how long ☺ )

Second paragraph on the first page (this gives you an idea):
Now that you know how Stephanie Meyer proceeded to write, it remains a large question how she came up with the general idea and history of vampires. Also as astonishing is the idea of how Twilight came to her in a dream in June 2003 and that from that came the thirteenth chapter in the book. This book was written without real preparation. The rest came to her because Stephanie continued to make alive these persons so that she would know what their destinies would be. She acknowledges herself, that often times history takes a step and imposes itself. When one asks her who are the authors who inspire her in her life and her writing, Meyer responds that there are two: Shakespeare and Orson Scott Card. She also really likes the style of their writing, and their marvelous face to face reactions. But has Stephanie put this in her characters? Yes and no, she says. No character truly represents it, but they all started from it. Certainly characters resemble all kinds of people that he knows, like her friends and Bella. She also adds that the werewolf Paul is near to her son who shares the same name, but that wasn’t intentional. On the contrary, she frequently has the issue of naming her characters like those in her family. It’s all the same Edward who is the character that she understands the best and she is the closest to in the element of his fictional character.

Italics:
After the success of twilight, she retraces the history of bella’s life in Forks, whom teenagers all over the world envy; the author more in the style of writing, broke out with a new writing project, Midnight Sun. The name doesn’t “challenge you” (literal meaning, can’t figure out the idiom)? However this book is very judicious and already has a certain buzz on the internet because it is the telling of Twilight, retold from the point of view of the overly tortured vegetarian vampire, Edward cullen.

The stolen manuscript:
The idea to write the first book of the saga from Edward’s point of view isn’t recent. Stephenie had begun writing this well before writing the last book, Breaking Dawn. The author had given a copy of the manuscript to Robert Pattinson during the filming of the first chapter of Twilight so that he could totally analyze and impersonate the complicated character. If the young actor knew so well the role that he had, it was though this book (I think that’s the gist). He said in an interview that he adored this version and wanted to read it through till the end. Midnight sun is destined to know the same success as the rest of the saga, if this is not a disadvantage. Moreover, like all the preceding books, the fans could read the first chapter of the book on the official website of Stephenie Meyer. The buzz was there. Only this story didn’t happen like the author had hoped, and the worst thing that she feared ended up happening. An individual introduced herself into the home of a young girl and stole the manuscript. The incident, already dramatic, didn’t stop there, when several hours later, the fist 12 chapters of this book appeared for downloading on the web. The author was very angry and disappointed , betrayed, tehn left the public a note on her site that she was very sad and discouraged at the incident. She made the fair decision to pause with the vampires and didn’t finish writing the end. She told everyone her decision and was not definitive how long it would be before she would have the courage to write the end of the book. In order to get rid of the illegal downloading, she decided to offer a free legal download of the first 12 chapters on her site. While reading, we can understand the spirit of the young vampire and see he is very tortured and complex, and also has been very alone. We see in this book that she writes the exact same dialogue between characters as in Twilight. The presence of his family is not really a comfort. Moreover, there are only four people that he refuse to listen to; preferring to listen to hearing the thoughts of all of the students. This day, his interest is peaked when one of the students, Jessica, is talking to a new student about the rumors about the Cullens. The young man quickly tries to give himself something to do (??). Strangely he can’t listen to the thoughts of Bella Swan. Frustrated, Edward finds her odor irresistible and wants to kill her and drink her blood. For an entire hour he has to sit next to her in biologie, and he thinks of different plants to kill her….enter his random thoughts about why me, why me, can I do this? Etc. (end of second page)

Hi guys,
I'm on my laptop at the hospital. We are going through a very tough and trying time as a family. I hate making personal posts but I have 5984 unread emails right now and I don't want you to think I am ignoring you or that I didn't thank you for the link/picture/email you've sent.
