This week's giveaway should be a treat for many of you because it's coming from a previous fanfic author with a very well known story.



Sophie Jackson wrote the popular fanfiction, A Pound of Flesh, and the story is now being published under the same title! Releasing June 9th, A Pound of Flesh will be the first in a series (details below). We got a chance to interview Sophie about her story, dream casting, Rob (naturally) and more but first let's give you guys a synopsis in case you're a newbie like me:

Haunted by nightmares of her father’s street murder fifteen years ago, Kat Lane decides to face her fears and uphold his legacy of helping others by teaching inmates at a New York prison. 

There she meets arrogant Wesley Carter, who’s as handsome as he is dangerous, as mysterious as he is quick-witted, and with a reputation that ensures people will keep their distance. 

As teacher and student, Kat and Carter are forced to leave their animosities at the door and learn that one should never judge a book by its cover. As Carter’s barriers begin to crumble, Kat realizes there’s much more to her angry student than she thought, leaving them to face a new, perilous obstacle: their undeniable attraction to one another. 

When Carter is released and Kat continues to tutor him on the outside, the obstacles mount. 

Can they fight the odds to make their relationship work? Will Kat’s family and friends ever accept her being with someone of his background? And will Kat’s discovery of Carter’s role on the night her father died force them apart forever...or unite them?

And now our interview with Sophie Jackson!

Congratulations on A Pound of Flesh! I'm a lover of Twilight fanfic but remarkably late to the party for your wildly popular story. You know how you have stories on your TBR list and they just get away from you sometimes? It does however excite me to read the published work without the fanfic bias. I'm starting from scratch so tell me - what inspired you to write a fresh take on the teacher-student trope?

Thanks so much! When I originally got the idea for PoF, I set it in a high school. It was a story about a delinquent, ex-juvvy boy being tutored by an exemplary student girl, but their ages limited where I could go with the story, so I aged them 10 years and placed them in a prison.
As important as it was, the story wasn't ever really about the teacher/student relationship, but rather Kat and Carter having a mysterious history between them, while being in a hopeless situation, in a hopeless setting, which added to the tension between the two of them. I hope it worked.

I'm a big follower of the podcast Serial and by proxy, Adnan Syed's ongoing case. I also listen to a follow up podcast, Undisclosed, that factually tracks the case even more than Serial. I say all that to say I'm increasingly sensitive to the issues surrounding the incarcerated. Tell me about your choice of setting. How did you land in a New York prison to tell your tale?

New York is my favourite place in the world, so it had to be there!
I may have answered this above, but, Carter was always going to be a 'bad boy' while Kat had to be in a position of authority that would, again, increase the tension between them. Setting the story in Arthur Kill allowed the characters to get to know each other in ways they may not in an ordinary every day setting. Prison is not an easy place to be, which fit perfectly, because this relationship is anything but easy! I like to think that the prison also represents Carter's life before he meets Kat. It's only with her help that he manages to free himself of all his restraints, physically and emotionally.

I've spoken to other published fanfic authors who had a desire to publish and were exercising their skills and some who didn't know they had it in them and just had a story they wanted to try out. What came first for you? The desire to be a published novelist or the dive into the world of fanfiction?

Of course, being published is the dream, but I never believed it would happen for me. It was never the end goal.  It was always just about scratching a creative itch by writing characters I'd fallen in love with in a new and different way online. I loved writing Fanfiction; I love the people and the community. I've made some incredible friends. It was a baptism of fire, but invaluable to me as a writer. I learned so much.

Beyond the synopsis, what kind of guy is Wesley Carter? How does he pull your readers in? Do you think we get attached before Kat or follow her road?

Carter is stubborn, caring, mysterious, and passionate. He isn't a 'bad guy', but rather he's made bad decisions that were all based in love and friendship. He's loyal to a fault. He's had a pretty tough upbringing and lashes out as a way of protecting himself. He's pretty endearing from minute one, but I definitely think the reader sees what Kat sees as the story progresses. She is able to peel him apart layer by layer, which is great. The readers fall in love with him right along with her.

Have you dreamcasted your characters? If a studio rang you up today and said give us your ideal actors, who would play Kat Lane and Wesley Carter?

Tom Hardy for Carter seems to be a favourite amongst the fans, while I think Christina Hendricks would be my perfect Kat, curvy, sassy, sexy with all that glorious red hair!

Because we're a Robert Pattinson fan blog and you're no stranger, has he inspired your writing or characters in ways that will make our readers swoon and sigh?

He was and will always be my perfect Edward, but, in my fics, and certainly when I read other fics, I don't tend to cast him in my mind. Certain types of Edwards can conjure up his image, though, like a goofy, geeky, sweet, laughing Edward is just perfect for Rob in my opinion!

What's next for you in the literary world? Where do you go beyond A Pound of Flesh?

PoF is the first of five books in the series. After its release June 9th, it'll be followed by the enovella, Love and Always, which is out in August. This enovella gives us a glimpse of life for Kat and Carter straight after the end of PoF. That'll be followed by An Ounce of Hope, Carter's friend, Max's story, which will be available January 2016. Both are available for pre order now.

FanFic Friday
I haven't read any fanfic lately because I reread the Demonica series in anticipation for Hades, which released May 26th. I did however finally read Rochelle Allison's one-shot from a few months back. If you haven't checked it out already, do yourself a solid and tuck into this gem for a half hour. The (Wet) Dreamgirl is classic Rochelle which means it's perfect.

Tales from the 'Heaven Knows What' after party with Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson attended the premiere of 'Heaven Knows What' at the MoMA in New York yesterday. He also attended the after party and took some fan pics we posted earlier.

Well the fan in the photo, Joey Boots is a regular caller on the Howard Stern show (a New York chat show on sirius satellite) and shared a story about meeting Rob at the after party. See the Utube clip below.





Probably not the fan photos Rob's used to!  Can you wash iPhones at all? That iPhone 4 will be getting an upgrade sooner rather than later!

With him, she was happy for the first time in seventeen years. Because she didn’t know what Avery was doing. 

During the case review, as Angel recounts the lies and mistakes that snowballed into the sentence she’s currently serving, she’s simultaneously formulating a plan to escape. She aims to find her long-lost love, Jake, and spend the rest of eternity trying to make up for her part in the crimes that landed her in jail. 

But before she can do that, she needs to get through the case review. She has to make sure that the interviewing panel understands that it was not her—that is was her best-friend turned sworn-enemy, Avery—who plotted and carried out the crimes. That it was Avery who killed Angels’ boyfriend, Jake Haddon.

We're big fans of Diane Munier's work and have a double hitter for you this Fiction Friday!

Since that giveaway, two other stories have been launched and I loved them both when I first read them. We're doing a 2 week giveaway for a package of both books for 2 winners. Deuces all around! Both stories also take place in the sixties and if you know anything about Diane, you know she can write amazing period pieces. The woman transports you. I feel like I step into a time machine when the story takes place in another era.

Here are they synopses for Darnay Road and Finding My Thunder but I'll say a little bit extra right after:

Darnay RoadIt starts out in 1963, spanning ten years in the life of Georgia Christine. At ten years old, she and her best friend Abigail May are mystery solvers. They get to the bottom of things like–what is inside the altar at their Catholic church? Rumor says the bones of the saints. Climbing that holy gate and entering the forbidden area so they can take a look means the threat of eternal flames is not greater than their curiosity. It’s not different when they meet Easy and Cap, the brothers from the other side of the tracks. Those two may live on Scutter, the most down-and-out street in town, but they are always in the road riding their beat-up bicycles. And when someone dies on the tracks behind Abigail’s house, the mystery surrounding them deepens. But so do their friendships. When Abigail moves away and Cap is no longer around, it’s as natural as breathing for Georgia and Easy to step in the gap toward one another. But Easy is in trouble and even a dedicated-mystery-solver-turned-teenage-problem-solver is limited in what she can do. When Easy has to leave will their friendship just be a sweet memory or can Darnay Road stretch long enough to keep them connected even if that gap becomes an ocean?

Finding My ThunderThe story takes place in the late sixties. Hilly Grunier has been in love with Danny Boyd since she was a kid telling scary stories on summer nights at the fire hydrant while Danny pulled close on his bike. But when Danny is thirteen, their friendship ends when he and his brother Sukey have a vicious fight over Hilly. Years pass, and Hilly carries a secret and growing love as she watches Danny rise athletically to the top of their school’s food chain. He even dates the prom queen and rumor says they are engaged. Now Danny has graduated and shows up in her dad’s shop looking for some temporary employment until the army picks him off for Vietnam. He’s thrown aside his college scholarship and the golden girl. He seems to be searching for something new before he leaves town. He seems to be searching for her. Hilly can’t let him go overseas without showing him how she feels. But once he’s gone, her own battle intensifies. It’s a long road to finding her thunder.

I didn't know how I was going to feel about reading a story with kids as my guide when I first read Darnay Road. This was pre-Tonio mind you. But I read anything Diane does. Of course I didn't regret it. The story is vivid and intense. I was always trying to figure out what was up with Easy just like Georgia. I fell for their coming-of-age story and the road they took to get there. I'm also pleased that the published work included an epilogue! I never want to leave Diane's character so any extra will always make me jump for joy.

Finding My Thunder was one of the first stories from Diane that took my by surprise. It was the last I read when I first discovered her and went on a binge of whatever was complete at the time. I didn't think I wanted to go to the 60s when I was so thoroughly in love with her post-Civil War work (My Wounded Soldier! Bringing Bella Home!). I ended up loving this story so much. It's darker in ways then her other work. There's pain that unfolds and your heart cries out for these characters. But you get the title right? You have to go through what Hilly goes through and it's worth it. She's worth it. It's a powerful love story in more ways than you can guess.

There are other exciting developments for Diane: By now you probably know that Deep In The Heart Of Me completed and is being readied for publishing. We also know we'll be getting a sequel of that story! My Wounded Soldier will also be two books. Two wonderful books that I can't wait for. You can keep up with the latest from Diane (who is also writing mysterious and intriguing dribbles titled Sam) on her blog HERE!

Now let's ready to go back into time! Start in the early sixties with the kids on Darnay Rd then close out the decade with Hilly and Danny while she finds her thunder.

This sweet story is very short but shows just what a sweetheart Rob is. It's from the fan event for the premiere of New Moon in London and you can tell how hard Rob tries to make sure all the fans that come out to his premieres go home happy.

Rob is a sweetheart! He signed my book but another girl had hers on top of mine so I kinda had half of the famous "R" and I asked him if he could do it again. But there was so much noise I had to call after him and I touched his arm for him to turn his head. When he did I said I was sorry but I would like him to sign my book again and when he realized he didn't really signed mine 30 seconds earlier he started to touch his hair and kept apologizing (I swear it was like I told him he killed my cat) So I told him it was ok, that with all the madness. He smiled at me and I almost died lol. He is so dreamy!

Have you ever wondered what it is like to win a meet and greet with Robert Pattinson?

After Kate's post revisiting Rob's appearance on The Graham Norton show we were contacted by a lucky fan who had been at the show .... AND had been the winner of a 'Meet and Greet with Robert Pattinson'.  Lynne has very kindly shared with us all what it is like to win a meeting with Rob.

The day MTV UK telephoned me to tell me I’d won their competition, which was a Meet & Greet with Robert Pattinson plus tickets to the premiere of Water for Elephants in London, I think I honestly went into shock. I had already luckily got tickets for the Graham Norton show interview with Rob and Reese that I was very much looking forward to going to, so I was planning on a trip to London anyway.

The MTV prize included a night’s stay at the Hilton Hotel in Kensington with a private car taking me to the Connaught Hotel in London’s Mayfair. I couldn’t believe this was actually happening.

I checked into the Hilton in Kensington and got picked up by the car to take me to the Mayfair hotel. I’ve never been so nervous in all my life, literally felt like I would throw up. When I arrived at the Hotel, the prize winners were taken into the function room to be briefed about security etc and were told that Rob was running late for the premiere and it would be a group photo only due to time constraints with no autographs. The winners group was placed at the back of the room to set up the photographs and I was put in back row, in the middle as I was one of the taller ones there. A stand-in person then stood in the place where Rob would stand to set up the shot for the photographer. We were told that Rob would come into the room and pose with us for photos but he would have to leave soon afterwards to get to the premiere.

It was a very tense wait and everyone was quiet and incredibly nervous. The security surrounding Rob was quite overwhelming, it was definitely a VIP moment. Rob came into the room with a shy swagger, his hands in his pockets with a big smile and said a quiet "hi" to everyone. We all nervously said hi back and he went to stand in his pre-designated spot amongst the group. My first impressions were how young he looked and how slim and tall in the black suit he wore for the premiere and his shock of crazy messy auburn hair (he’d just finished filming Breaking Dawn 1 & 2). He stood in his place but he stood more in front of me so I was a bit hidden behind him. I leant forward and jokingly said "don't hide me Rob". He didn’t realize I was in a bad position where I was standing and he smiled and said "come here" and guided me forward to his side and put his arm round my waist. The photographer started taking some shots. I also put my arm round his back. By the way, he smelt very nice too, freshly showered. I’m pretty sure I felt him shaking slightly through his suit jacket, I’m sure the prospect of an imminent red carpet would do that.

After the photographs, the room was really quiet, but as I was standing closest to Rob he asked me if I was going to the premiere. Part of the prize was two tickets to the premiere but I had planned to go to the Graham Norton show interview instead and I couldn’t make both but didn’t have the heart to tell him that. I said I had seen the movie already (I saw a preview showing the week before) and thought it was brilliant and that he was amazing in it. He was very sweet and smiled, raised his eyebrows and shyly said “oh really? thanks”. Dream moment, having Rob himself ask you what you thought of his work. He wasn’t able to stay and give autographs as there were a lot of us and he was running late for his premiere at Westfields. There was some more cute fan interaction when Rob was given a ‘signed by Van Morrison’ CD of Brown Eyed Girl - which he seemed surprised and grateful for. His team moved him out of the room and he was gone as quickly as he arrived, leaving us all kind of dazed in a “did that really just actually happen?” way.

I had very little time to get to the studios for the Graham Norton show to get a decent seat, but I jumped in a taxi and made a mad dash across London managing to get seats in the middle of the studio & then spent a wonderful 45 minutes + of watching Rob being interviewed with Reese. After the day I’d had, I didn’t want it to ever end.

A week or so later, I was sent two of the HQ photos from the Meet & Greet by the organizers. There were many more photos actually taken on the day, so I’d love to see the outtakes but these were the only two they sent. The whole day was one I’ll never forget, I feel privileged to have had the chance to experience it.

I'm now entering every competition ever!! Are you wishing you had been Lynne too? Rob has fans all over the world and many may feel they would never get the chance to see Rob in person. So a big thank you to Lynne for sharing her story with us so we can all share a little in her experience.

Another great fan encounter with Robert Pattinson

We've been posting fan encounters with Robert Pattinson that show just how good he is to us fans.  This story is the story of another fan encounter. Some lucky fans shared this story from the set of 'Childhood of a Leader' and we get to hear how people who work with Rob think he is kind and impossibly patient!

An extraordinary chance appeared for me and a friend of mine: we grabbed the opportunity to be on

set in the Court of Lions (Buda Castle), freezing in the cold on 2nd February, from 10 am to 4 pm.

Promising that we would not sneak in the picture, take photos or faint at the sight of anyone, we

were allowed inside the cordon.

The situation was not easy: the place was cold and droughty, so we almost froze to death, even

though sometimes we were let inside the cabinets used by the staff to get warm.

So we just stood there, waiting for the big, black car, which eventually arrived, with no one but the

driver. He put a small bottle of mineral water in the cup holder at the back seat, and nothing else

happened. Then the door of a large caravan opened somewhere behind us, and Rob stepped out with

his assistant, so that they could shoot a scene already rehearsed without him.

Originally this was the moment, where we should have fainted.

At this point of the plot, Rob’s character is completely bold and wears a thick moustache and beard.

I think these were dyed even darker than his own hair.

This was the first time I met him ”personally”, and I just melted at the sight. I, being 1.78 m tall,

never thought him so much taller with his 1.85 m, yet, I must admit that I felt him towering over

me. *sigh

And he is thin as a blade, which was clearly visible, although he was wearing a massive military

coat.

And he has a voice, which is… just music to my ears. Unfortunately we could not hear him during

the shooting, I guess he must act a bit, as his own voice does not quite fit his hardy character. We

shall see.

There were about 200 extras freezing with us as well.

I could not recall, where would the scene we saw fit into the original piece by Sartre, so I think an

entirely different story will be built for us.

Besides that it was an unforgettable experience seeing Rob just a few steps away from me, it

was even better to hear the opinion of the crew around on him. We asked one of them, to tell us

honestly, what kind of a person he is – not the performance delivered by him, but simply Rob as

this one guy, in private and as an actor at work.

According to the reply he is a kind lad, polite, kind, impossibly patient, doing everything he is

asked without the slightest complaint. He would not drive anyone mad with his allures. He is just

sitting silently, does his job when told so, and goes off reading when there is time for rest.

We just overheard an opinion, when a guy from the technical department walked over and asked the

others, who had not yet seen Rob: „Hey, have you seen Pattinson?” „Not yet.” „Man, what they did

to him… but as disgusting his character is, this appearance should just fit.”

At another chance to get warmer, we just walked into the shelter provided for the VIP, where Brady

Corbet was watching the scene being shot outside. (Actually he is indeed a small guy, very adorable

and a bit nervous. Maybe he was upset by the commotion in the neighborhood caused by the visit of

the German chancellor.) We were standing almost just behind him, watching the screens as Rob sits

in the car, Rob gets out of the car, Rob gets into the car, and finally Corbet said ”Cut!”… and then

Rob walked in to have a look of the shot. He watched it without a single frown, and just held up his

thumb.

We were almost at the melting point.

He left and they shot another scene.

By the way, I guess that the shooting of a film is such an unbelievable event: not really interesting,

but mostly tiring and slightly boring, unless there is someone to keep your attention. :)

We did not wait until the end of the day for Rob to leave the location. We saw the essence of it, we

were given more, than we hoped for, so I could not tell if Rob dressed up normally after he left or

not. I could also not tell how he looks like in plain clothes.

Still, the lines we heard and the answers we were given brought us some sort of a silent

complacence: Rob looks just the way as I imagined him. He has wonderful eyes *sigh, his voice

could be a cure for any illness, and he did not show any sight of being self-conceited as a movie

star.

We behaved like good kids, we did not push too far and did not even try to take backstage photos.

We did not disturb him as he concentrated on his role by popping up and asking for autographs. So

we are left only with this little story, told by heart.

Fanfiction Friday
I haven't been reading anything new because I feel deep into the Demonica Series. So deep that we are going to have a giveaway of the first 3 books from the 11-book series, an exclusive interview with the author and a special gift! Can you tell I've made it my mission to get you guys all on board? I'm in withdrawals right now, reread my favorite book of the series and I'm now rereading the whole series again. Back to Tonio and awesome news regarding Deep in the Heart of Me. On the last update, counselor let us know that we're about one more chapter away from the end. But wait...there's more! It's not the end! The story will be pulled shortly after the final chapter posts and readied for publishing. Then there will be a sequel!!! I can't tell you how ugly-cry happy I am about this. I've said time and time again that Tonio got deep in the heart of ME so to know he's not leaving us just yet - it's thrilling. And also a little scary. Do you know why? Eeeeek! I won't say since you might not be reading this yet or will wait for the published story. But I'm nervous about the sequel and the roads Tonio will travel. But I'll  be there! Every step of the way. Robert Pattinson is so good to his fans

Here's another story from the ROBsessed archives that shows just how good Robert Pattinson is to the fans that come out to support his films.  This fan's story os from the 'Water for Elephants' premiere in New York.

"In the middle of the night, all of us who were literally suffering outdoors got a pizza delivery. They told us that it was from Rob, Reese and Christoph.

When it was finally time to meet Rob, I was in the first row with camera and phone in hand (Also a poster I wanted Rob to sign). Everyone around me was telling him "you're so nice," "you're so handsome," and I was paralized as I saw just how beautiful he is. When I finally had him in front of me, all I could think of saying was: "Rob, thanks for the pizza that you sent fans last night” and his reaction is the picture at the top.

There's no doubt that he didn't know what I was talking about, but I love him for being so nice and genuine. His expression will stay with me forever. He then signed my poster with that precious smile of his. 

I can tell you Rob is a very patient man. He never complained as he signed tons of posters and took pictures with fans."

Everyone always says Rob tries to sign autographs and take pictures with as many people as he can in the fan lines.  Have you ever seen how generous Rob is with us fans at premieres?

Robert Pattinson is so good to his fans ... and we fans love him for it

We love how thoughtful and kind Robert Pattinson is to all of us ROBsessed fans and so we are sharing some these fan encounters you may have missed from the past.

This girls story is so sweet ... you can just feel how excited she was to see Rob at the Water for Elephants premiere in New York in 2011.

The Story!

So we planned on going to the WFE Premier for weeks in advanced and figured it would be easy to get to see him boy was I wrong. The night before the WFE Premiere we happen to find out about THE LINE of over 200 people that were trying to get wrist bands. We weren’t even leaving PA until Sunday Morning! On Sunday my friends and I (who by the way it was our 3rd time driving to NY in hopes to get a simple glimpse at Robert) had plans to get up at about 5 and be on our way by 6am .. I didn’t even get up until 6:15 cause I was dreaming I was already there and I was in Happy, Happy land, anyway when I got up I quickly showered and ran out the door to meet my Friends.

We drove into NJ Port to ride into the city by bus. Of course the bus was late and when the next bus got there it was so full we had to wait for yet another bus. By this time we are more than an hour behind schedule (our goal was to be there before 9) . So we got to the city as soon as we pulled up in front of the Ziegfeld one of the security guards saw us getting out of the cab and said right in front of us. “we are cutting it off right here” we begged the guy for the 2nd VIP, of course they don’t care about anything and said no. After tears of sadness we decided we are not budging in hopes we could at least get a single glimpse of Rob.

We sat and waited and happened to recognize a couple from one of the fan sites on FB and twitter that did have the VIP pass and we told them our sob story lol. We kept in the area the rest of the morning just waiting in hopes. At about 1pm we started to gather near the VIP area just so we could have a our far spot but in good view. That’s when we happened to cross paths again with the fan site group and she was exited that her husband was able to get access into the Press box and she told us she had something for us!!!!! IT WAS A FREAKING VIP PASS!

We cried our tears of joy and thanked her like a Zillion times up until we realized there was 1 pass and 3 of us! After just staring and thinking we decided to compromise, one would get the experience and get the autograph but, then we would have to give up the autograph to the one that stayed behind. My Friend Wendy decided she would go- I get to keep her autograph. (TEARS!!! SNIFF, SNIFF) but it was the deal we made. About 10 min into getting into the VIP access area she felt sick and got scared she would end up throwing up on Rob so she said No You go!!!!!! (you didn’t have to tell me twice) I got into the VIP area like 3 rows back and hoped and prayed he would come by our side and I could at least get a picture of the oh so HANDSOME GOODLOOKING BEAUTIFUL Robert Pattinson !!!!

I waited a good 3 hrs without budging! And then the security guard told us shhh! don’t yell yet but HE is 4 cars away!!! OMG! I was already floating! When I saw Rob hop out of the car I though this is not real pinch me someone!! Oh I got pinched alright and pushed and shoved and squished LOL! And don’t ask me how but I got to the front banister, screaming, crying shaking all emotion you can think of I had it !!!! There HE WAS less then 15 feet from me! Oh God I thought I would faint! Its true you know, He is very, very handsome in person! The aura he gave was just amazing! He looked so beautiful!! I was in a daze. When he got a bit closer I heard him talk OMG I was done for! The accent!! Then my hands failed me. My picture for my autograph the poster and sharpie everything went right to the ground. After what I thought was an eternity of trying to get my stuff together he was right there in front of me!!! I thought IS THIS REAL LIFE???

I asked him for the autograph and snapped like 100 shots of him and then out of no where I got the guts and said “ can I please, please, please get a picture with you !” and before I knew it he was crouching down like a foot from me!!!!! And posing for the picture All I kept thinking was oh God please don’t let me chop off our heads while trying to get this picture please let me have at lease our faces in the shot! Well the picture turned out great and I asked him for another autograph and he was so sweet to give it to me ( so now I got my own and the one I had to give up). I must admit I professed my love to Robert at least 125 times and got like 50 great shots of him as he slowly walked away!!!

Oh this was by turned out to be a great day for me I will never ever forget how handsome and dreamy he was!
