Day ARGH! Quick Rob. Look sexy for us.

That'll do nicely. :)

My work load has gotten the best of me. I wanted to write and make sure you all didn't think something bad happened in my neck of the woods since the DoR halted for a bit. I need to get everything in a manageable pattern which isn't easy with 8 online classes. That's where my concentration and time have been. I'll be back with more DoR when I can sleep and breathe like normal again. :) And I'll throw in some quickie Robs when I can. ;)

We haven't done 30DoR/44DoR/365DoR in YEEEEAAAARRRSSSS. We'll see how long we can go and what we come up with for the days. What the hell else we gotta do?? I mean...I do now have to teach 8 classes online but you get me. ;)

Robert Pattinson's Full Interview With 'The Observer' Magazine Plus New Photos

Robert Pattinson's Full Interview With 'The Observer' Magazine Plus New Photos

image host image host image host

He’s about to appear in what might be his best film yet. So why is one of Britain’s finest actors so convinced he can’t act? Robert Pattinson talks to Alex Moshakis about stage-fright and why he couldn’t say no to a role in The Lighthouse.

Do you want to hear a funny thing about Robert Pattinson? Robert Pattinson is convinced he doesn’t know how to act. Willem Dafoe can act, Pattinson thinks. Willem Dafoe can act the socks off anyone in the business. And Joaquin Phoenix. Joaquin Phoenix could tie his shoelaces on film and be nominated for an award. And Bruce Willis – Bruce Willis! – now there’s a leading man. But Robert Pattinson? Nope. “I only know how to play scenes, like, three ways,” he says. Three! That’s all. Despite more than a decade in the industry. “I’m nervous on, like, every single movie.”

Pattinson, who is 33, is sitting in a booth in a low-lit restaurant in Notting Hill, west London, dunking table bread into a pot of something. It’s the early evening, dark and cold outside. He has arrived from rehearsals for The Batman, which started not long ago and which are taking place, to his delight, in the studio in which he filmed Harry Potter in the mid-aughts. The Batman is the first time he’s worked in a studio in “like, forever,” and his first mainstream leading role since he retired his best-known character, Twilight’s Edward Cullen, sexy vampire. That was in 2012.

Maybe he’s tired now. Or maybe he’s had a bad day. Maybe he’s arriving at the studio every morning and not quite getting Batman’s vibe. Maybe he’ll never get Batman’s vibe, and people will finally agree he really can’t act, and his career will come screeching to its inevitable end, and the whole world will fold in on itself.

Which are the kind of thoughts Robert Pattinson has.

NEW Damsel CLIP: Robert Pattinson Serenades Us With Honeybun

NEW Damsel CLIP: Robert Pattinson Serenades Us With Honeybun

Sure what more could you want on a Wednesday

From Entertainment Weekly:
There’s something about singing in front of an audience that makes Robert Pattinson “terrifyingly nervous,” the actor told EW.

“No matter whether you’re playing a character or not, there’s something about singing where you’re naked,” he said. “I hadn’t sung in front of anybody for years before that.”

Pattinson, 32, who rocketed to fame as a certain brooding, sexy vampire, delivers his funniest performance to date in David and Nathan Zellner’s Damsel, playing a gangly, bumbling wannabe cowboy named Samuel, searching for his kidnapped fiancé Penelope (Mia Wasikowska) in the Wild West wilderness with the help of a hapless preacher (David Zellner).

“I wanted to do a full-on Jim Carrey out-of-control thing…proper slapstick. I remember doing the first take on the first day and I was screaming,” the actor said.

“I think I was supposed to be playing it serious, and I just couldn’t do it. So it just became this goofy thing.”

The biggest challenge was not adopting a drawling Western twang or acting in the heat of the desert while wearing a thick suit, he said. Instead it was the scene above, where Samuel decides to sing a sweet little ditty he penned for his fiancée called “My Honeybun.”

“That was the only thing in the whole movie where I was really nervous, I have no idea why. My hand was shaking so much,” he said.

“It’s such a weird little moment … it’s so weird and earnest and sweet at the same time.”

It’s been 10 years since Pattinson played teen vampire heartthrob Edward Cullen in the first Twilight and amassed millions of fans. After saying goodbye to the role, Pattinson said his “lucky break” came in 2012 with David Cronenberg’s trippy Cosmopolis, in which he played a cocky billionaire. Since then, he’s eschewed franchises and blockbusters, instead diving into underdog roles like the slow, naive Reynolds in David Michôd’s survival drama The Rover (2014) and the frantic Connie in 2017’s urban thriller Good Time.

“I do find a lot of my characters are alienated. I definitely think I’ve gravitated towards that more after I got famous,” he explained. “It’s like, I can relate.”

Pattinson confessed that he used to be shy, but by allowing himself to relax and take risks as an actor, he’s open to playing the fool. The Dior ambassador is actually a giggler — he giggles as he quips how he’s been forgetting people’s names now that he’s in his ripe old 30s, or when he orders a “tiny English muffin” at lunch.

Meanwhile, the Twilight mania has faded and while his name still pops up in tabloids, he says fan interactions are much more manageable nowadays.

“It was always just people who were trying to make money out of it because then they never left you alone,” he said about being tabloid fodder.

“If someone’s making money out of something, you’re like, ‘Nah man, this is my career and you’re literally stealing from me and because of some loophole in the law, you’re allowed to do this,’ and so it’s one of the most frustrating (things), it just makes you feel very impotent … Now, it’s really nice because it’s not the hysteria so people come up to you and they’re nice to you. Whenever someone asks for a picture, it’s because they like you.”

Now that he’s locked in his first comedic role, the actor said he’s definitely looking to exercise his funny bone on screen, developing projects that fuse comedy and drama.

“I’m trying to choose roles where audiences wouldn’t have preconceived expectations of how those characters would behave,” he said.

Thanks Flavia

Loving all these new Rob interviews. Here's another, this time with 'The Irish Times'

Robert Pattinson is gleaming just as surely as his odd little golden splodge of hair at the front. Today that blond bit is made especially visible by a close crew cut. He’s in strikingly chipper form. I’m not sure I was expecting chipper.

Having worked with Werner Herzog, David Cronenberg, Anton Corbijn and, as we meet, Claire Denis, Pattinson has blossomed into the one of the most interesting actors of his generation. Still, he has never been the kind of performer you’d confuse with such great, boozy, storytelling carousers as Peter O’Toole.

“How did those guys do it?” Pattinson says. “It’s the most amazing thing. How can you operate at that level while simultaneously sabotaging yourself? Have you read that Andre Agassi biography? I can’t get over it. So he was still seeded. Around 30th in the world, I think. And he was addicted to crystal meth. And he’s also gluing his wig to his head with polymer cement. So he’s playing a five-set tennis match. On meth. With a wig cemented to his head. How crazy is that?” He laughs. “I mean, I can’t do anything if I’m slightly tired. Or if I’ve drunk two cups of coffee. After two cups of coffee I’m literally incapacitated.”

When we last caught up the artist formerly known as R-Patz was shooting The Lost City of Z in Belfast and had just been declared a total ledge by the media after dropping in on a Co Down wedding reception. He had a great time, he says.

“But the best thing about Ireland was seeing Van Morrison play in Cypress Avenue,” Pattison says. “It was my birthday, and he was incredible. I’m a bit obsessed with Van Morrison. I’ve seen him seven times, and twice he has really, really killed it. But that was really something. Just amazing.”

The same production would bring Pattinson to the caiman- and viper-infested waters of Colombia’s Caribbean coast, where, in a fit of method madness, he ate live maggots from his beard. “I can’t believe they deleted that scene,” he says.

Did they? Did they really? This isn’t one of those patented Pattinson tall tales, is it? Like the time he claimed to have extraordinarily heavy saliva? Or the time he told the Today show that he saw a clown’s car explode at his first circus? Or how about last summer, when he told Jimmy Kimmel that he refused to masturbate a dog for his new thriller, Good Time? “Robert Pattinson is our kind of guy (and everyone’s who has a heart) for refusing to masturbate a dog,” said Lisa Lange of the animal-welfare group Peta, in a laudatory statement.

Except, no. The dog masturbation was also a fib.

“No, there were real live maggots,” he says, grinning.

We’ll leave it at that.
