Jackson Rathbone talks about Robert Pattinson's Absence in New Moon to J-14:

J-14:
So New Moon has a totally different focus than Twilight?

Jackson: It’s one of those things where you think losing Robert Pattinson for a lot of the movie would kind of be like a down turn but you basically get another, equally inspired, and equally riveting male star in Jacob Black. It’s one of those things where Bella is devastated by the departure of her vampire love but you know she gets her spirit rekindled by her growing friendship and her growing love in her and Jacob.

"Basically get another equally inspired and equally riveting male star Jacob Black". Hm. For Jackson maybe, but not for me . Jacob not equal with Edward, And Taylor NOT equal with Robert. Please what does it mean riveting ? In my dictionary it is an architecting word, and it doesn't fit to the sentence

Completely agree, @twmmy. In the book, Bella NEVER forgts Edward, ever.
And poor Tay-Tay, equal with Rob? Maybe in his dreams!!

Jackson recited his PR line like the pro he is.

All the actors say the exact same thing, "people will forget Edward and move on to Jacob". I know they've been told to say that, and I guess it's a valid marketing strategy, but I find it so annoying.

Because no one questions my faithfulness to Robward. NO ONE.

It's funny how the entire cast seems to have problems to seperate the actors from the characters. It's Edward and Jacob or Rob and Taylor! And if the audience doesn't mind Edward's absence because they have Jacob instead they failed to translate the book into the movie.

Yes, but still Bella never forgets Edward or what he means to her. She taps into her memories through the risky things she and Jacob do, so he never really leaves her heart either. And then even better she gets him back in the flesh, and Jacob becomes the unresolved character.

here, "riveting" means somthing that holds your attention, like you can't look away...and that is NOT Taylor, sorry! The only riveting male star is ROBERT. I can't wait for Eclipse! :)

I do hope that Taylor isn't total crap, though, there's going to be too much of him in NM for that!

It's funny how the cast have to keep reiterating how wonderful Jacob/TayTay is; how we're all going to be overwhelmed with TayTay's performance: Edward's going to be forgotten....bloody rubbish...'Methinks they doth protest too much' or words to that effect....smacks of desperation methinks. It's hilarious how transparent their marketing ploys are for this film...'push TittyTayTay'

Ha-ha,If I could I skip over the wolf-scenes in the movie like in the book. By the way once must see it for the story. But my son said, "what will you do in the movie, how will you ffwd the film?

I'm sorry, but Jacob is not going to make me forget about Edward. They make it sound as if he can just "replace" Edward and it will all be okay, but that's not true. I mean, we're not all Team Switzerland. There's a reason we like Edward, and he is VERY different from Jacob, so I don't really see people on Team Edward switching. After all, we all know he comes back in the end(not to mention who Bella chooses in the very end), so we'll just be waiting until that moment :)

Agree with what you have said. They all say Jacob will carry the movie. That will be plain wrong. If anything, Bella the character will have to carry the movie, as this is about loss and longing.
I think CW even mentioned during press conference that he was careful not to make Jacob the character too appealing.

Jackson is one cool and sexy dude. I don't care if he is toeing the summit line with these comments.

While I am Edward (Robward) all the way I still can't wait for all the emotional build-up of the relationship between Jacob and Bella. I am re-reading NM at the moment (cos like all of you guys I sped read through the Jacob parts to get to my beloved Edward) and there are some pretty intense and amazing scenes between Bella and Jacob so I am looking forward to seeing how they portray all of that on screen.

But yeah - Edward has my heart...forever

It bugged me in the books that Bella basically goes back and forth between the 2 guys, and they go along with it!! Ex, sleeping bag scene. It is not so much the the fault of the director, etc...Stephenie wrote some really whacked books!
