*NEW* Robert Pattinson Interview with Vikend (Slovenia)

Thanks to our friend Darja for sending us all these scans and translations! Our readers and friends are the best! :))

The interview is from Vikend's(Slovenia) Nov 28th issue

Robert Pattinson, New Moon

Sexiest Man?
I'm not even a Man yet!

Los Angeles is full of covers of Robert Pattinson, 23 year old Londoner who became a new sex symbol practically overnight. After closed screening of New Noon, the sequel of phenomenon Twilight, we met Robert and co-star Kristen Stewart at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills. Every step we were followed by their personal PR people and by people from agency that organized interviews. And we were warned: "No personal questions. We are here to promote the movie." Okay. Anyway, we asked Robert about OK magazine, the actual cover was about their breakup, he smiled and said: "Gossip doesn't affect my career..." We can tell you, dear female fans, Robert is not as pale as Edward and his lips are not that red either.

How many girls asked you to bite their neck today?
(laughter) I have to disappoint you. I'm surrounded by bodyguards at all times and they practically carry me in and out, so I have almost no idea what is going on outside.

How do you handle instant fame, media interest and fan pressure?
Sometimes it is unpleasant, all those interviews, army of fans, magazine covers... At the beginning it was nerve wrecking, I tried to hide, but why bother? I have no intention to hate my life. I try to accommodate as much as I could.

Can you walk the street without being stampeded by an army of female fans?
Not really. Well, I don't even have time. I work a lot these days and I don't know what is happening in real world, I'm spending all my time on movie sets or hotels or on airplanes anyway. Big cities surprise me sometimes. Recently I've been in Tokyo and I went for a walk and no one recognized me and it was strange, since I was the only white person on the street...

Maybe all white people seem alike to them.... (Gozde: a touchdown by the interviewer :))
(laughter) Maybe. But it was a great experience, opposite to New York where I was making a movie recently. I had eight bodyguards there and they were walking along me on my way from trailer to movie set, but one day there was such a crowd that we had to actually run away - they were pulling me around, pushing, it was a mess. We had to hire additional ten body guards so I went to work every day surrounded by eighteen enormous guys. That was surrealistic.

Are you afraid of all the craziness around you?
Hysteric masses of people can be scary. I think everyone would feel bad in a situation where you have no control, where you can't do anything to calm the situation. People in this kind of situations are in a state of kind of hysteric hypnotic madness. Einstein was right when he said that human civilization is the most dangerous when it moves in masses.

As a teenager, were you never obsessed with a star?
I don't remember being obsessed, but I remember the huge impact the movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest had on me. I started to dress like Jack Nicholson and I started to mimic him and it lasted some time. But I wasn't crazy over him or sat in front of his house.

Were you ever in love with an actress?
Maybe.... I don't know... I always liked Patricia Arquette, I think I was in love with her as a teenager, she wasn't very inspiring (laughter). Hm, it looks like I was a little lost as a teenager as well (laughter)....

Your parents are probably very proud of you?
Very! And they are a little surprised by my reaction to my success, I don't experience it as they are. They are impressed by it, everything is so fantastic to them, mom reads everything about me (laughter). I still think that everything is a lucky coincidence. I never wanted to be famous, I didn't plan big things in my life, so everything is strange to me. I still adapt and still think what to do with everything.(Gozde: Hi Mama P. :))

Mom believes everything she reads about you?
Unfortunately yes! She blindly believes everything she reads, even the bad stuff. When I try to explain her it's the tabloid magazines' imagination, she says: I know you, I know what you are like! (laughter)!

So she doesn't believe you and Kristen Stewart aren't a couple?
Like the rest of the world doesn't... (laughter) Well, I explained her that! (Gozde: Oh man! Now I wanna know!*stumps foot* I hate when other people know something I don't. To be a fly on the wall when he explained her "that" :))

So we can't ask you about this ?
You can, but the answer will be the same as it was at the beginning of the conversation.
Are you and Kristen good friends?
Very, but only that! (laughter) As a team we are very close, because we are together all the time, making movies one after another. We are of the same age and we think alike, so we encounter the fame that happened to us together.(Gozde: Uhoh...let the fighting begin. Analyze this sentence to the last drop of your blood :)) #DebateTillYouDie :)

Are you worried that the role of Edward will always follow you as a shadow in your acting carer?
Not really. Anyway, it's too late to think about it after I signed for four movies of the series.(Gozde: yeah he did say 4 movies! Wooohooo! :)) It's normal that the audience see me as Edward, they watch me in this role all the time. I have to be patient, I make other movies too and I believe audience will see me as a different person. If they will see me as Edward in twenty years, it's possible I'll have to murder someone (laughter)!

So, you don't regret accepting that role?
There are good and bad sides of everything. Of course I don't regret it, but everything isn't perfect either. If no one knows who you are, it is difficult to land a role and it sucks because you feel like a loser. When you become someone, everyone expects a miracle from you, big roles, big movies, big hits, and it is not easy because it is a big responsibility, big pressure. It's always the best to be in the middle.

What can we expect from the third movie, Eclipse, you wrapped that movie?
Yes, recently, we are preparing for the fourth part. Expect more characters, more interaction among main characters, relation between Edward and Jacob, fighting for Bella's affection is
accentuated. There is a war between vampires and humans, there will be more action, the movie will be a spectacle.

During making movies you probably don't have enough time for music, which is a big passion of yours; you've written two songs for Twilight?
Yes, I put music aside for a while. Acting and music are important for me, but it's difficult to do both of them simultaneously. I try and play some music or write new songs during movie breaks. I'll try to record something later this year....

Is this the announcement of your record?
I don't know... Maybe (laughter).

Well, girls will go crazy if you become a rocker!
That's true! Women love rock stars! (laughter)

What's necessary for a woman to impress you?
Money! there's never enough of it! (laughter)

Besides that?
A lot of patience! (Gozde: I have the patience of a saint and I'll try to make more money from now on ;))

Why?
I'm not the easiest person. I'm stubborn and I don't like people to tell me what to do; if people order me around I become irritable and evil.(Gozde: Typical Taurus :))

Describe a perfect date....
Uffff..... I don't know, I'm not very good in dating as dating is understood in America.

What do you mean?
In England, having a date means going out with your boyfriend or a girlfriend. Here in America, everybody goes on a date as if it is nothing special. "I went out with three guys this week..." Yes, you are a whore then, right? (laughter)

You know, you are being compared to Leonardo Di Caprio?
So stupid! It's not fair to him, my god, he was an Oscar nominee when he was eleven years old! (Di Caprio was nominated for an Oscar at twenty for the first time , author's remark)

What about being called the sexiest man alive?
That's even more ridiculous, I'm not even a real man yet!

awww, he's so cute. what a great article. Some different (kind of) questions. He seems so laid back!!

Anonymous said...

This is a great interview with some different questions! He actually said regarding his little walk around in Tokyo that he was the only 'Western' guy there LOL That does seem odd that he wasn't recognised but nice for him.

Had enough of the drought already! Roll on next year!

Haystackhair said...

Nice! He's such a goof. Suz, think we will refresh and have this post up to 150 comments? LOL. Biting my tongue too....

Gozde--feel better. I have some nice home-made chicken soup here if you want to come over. :-)

And it isn't only Taurus that bristles and resists being told what to do; am a Scorpio and I cannot stand being told what to do.

SluttyPattz said...

Loved the interview...I don't care who he's shagging so won't even go there. (Long live Gozde's motto)

LOVE THE BANNER, have been on holiday for a week and the banner made my head spin round like Linda Blair.

As always, love this blog and the constant stream of information.

Problem is... Suz and Haystack.. I tend to bite mine all the way through and then start spewing bloody spittle!

Love to hear him in a playful mood like this but it all needs to be taken with a bucket of salt. Wish we had a real transcript, because again the translation is godawful. Context and nuance are everything, and thanks Lizzibee for pointing out that he said actually said "Westerner" and not "white". A nice debate that mistranslation could start, thank heaven we're not that unforgivingly PC here on ROBsessed.

loved the white boy in japan comment! as for the interview's implications, I think most really don't argue over it anymore, at least that's what I noticed here. Him and Kristen do their thing, and they ain't gonna let us know what that thing is exactly. lol

Gozde said...

Awww, don't trash the translation. I think it's great. Do you know how hard it is to translate something? I thought this was one of the best translations we've had. Darja's English is really good.

Plus THIS interview says white person not Western, he might have said Western in another interview but this one clearly says "Belec" which means "white" :)

Gozde said...

Excuse me belec = Caucasian :))

Solas, send the soup over ;))

Dilia said...

i think is all about being neutral they just basically give non-answers.

Kristen said a couple of times that its just that people confuse them with their characters and that the tabloids are all made up like a soap opera and they only write lies.
and she also talked about how it didn't matter what they said people were gonna take whatever they wanted to take from it and that she wanted to keep what was hers to herself ans she didn't feel like she had to confirm/deny anything.

here in this interview i think Rob is doing pretty much the same, is like answering but at the same time leaving room for interpretation when he elaborates.

im not saying is a publicity ploy or anything but the way the media and both Rob/Kristen approach this subject is always the same, leaving room for the whole Aren't they/Are they question.

His mother is awful. No wonder he fell so deeply in love with Kristen, she's the complete opposite of her.

Gozde said...

His mother is awful? WTF? What the hell is wrong with people? Get some prozac, get out of your worshipping mood and stop hating.

Noone trashes Rob's family here!

Gozde said...

I'm going back to bed :(

SluttyPattz said...

lol @Gozde!! Solas, quick the soup, STAT!!! She's on the edge.
My mom would be the same as Robs I am certain of it, and I would hope I wouldn't be with my son when he is older but I could definitely see myself questioning things I read. Unless it was ridiculous like he was impregnated by an alien or something. UNLESS................ j/k

Maryann said...

firstly to BASH Rob's mother is uncalled for and the person who did this obviously doesn't have a clue about Rob's goofy sense of humor, he JOKES alot, get on with the program before you start bashing someone's mother! GRRR

That said..Oh Rob, you goofball you. LOL. He can't stay serious about himself too long hehe.

When was this interview done? During the press kit for NM? If so Rob was talking about Breaking Dawn before Summit officially greenlit it lmao. I guess he shows he HATES being told what to do and not to do. I wonder if Summit gave up on telling him "Don't talk about Breaking Dawn yet as it hasn't een announced!" cos he's been talking about that since May this year lmao. Too funny!

And Rob? It isn't only Tauruses who are stubborn...Cancerians are too..I am VERY stubborn and hates to be told what to do myself. As for money..dude ya make more than most ppl do sorry cannot help ya there..the rest? I got lotsa patience and spunk *winks*...

And there I go into my fantasy...LOL!!

And finally, I actually wish the mags would stop asking about him and Kristen cos at this point I am finding that question godawful boring, ask about the stuff (pranks, jokes, silly stuff) they do on sets instead then lol. That stuff is funny!

jmm4832 said...

I have no stake in the whole Robsten question, but I doubt Rob made that statement. He's been refusing to answer the question during the whole press tour and on Letterman, so why would he suddenly says they're only friends to a Slovenian magazine? Doubt it.

Agree with Godze. Please don't insult Rob's family (or friends) on here.

AP said...

@twilight,
why would you say something so hateful about Robs mum?
Are you so ugly on the inside that it just leaks out?

Gozde is right, take a Prozac or a whole bottle..

Great interview! Rob seems so much more relaxed these days and I'm so glad he's getting some down time, even though the drought has begun and I miss him.

Mechevpao said...

Great work on the translation, thanks to the person that did this, it involves a lot of work.

Rob gave some good answers during this press tour for NM.

Ps: I love how people twist the clearest answers to make it all fit in fantasy world.

Oh and the insulting to his mother was too much; what is next? I can´t believe some people. Ug, no wonder I was avoiding stepping into any comment section whatsoever, it is impossible to be around sometimes. (nothing against you, Gozde or Kate or Dani, but some people go really far)

I doubt he said they were just friends. And I hate the interviewer for holding up trash OK magazine in Rob's face!

you know what he should have said "hey, at least I'm on magazine covers, has your face been seen anywhere? loser."

I know he's too polite for that.

gracefulgrace said...

Loooved this interview! I do hope he was joking about money being the most importatint thing to impress him. Makes him sound a little shallow and materialistic. I'm guessing it's just a way to get around answering on physical personality aspects :)
Can't believe the comment from twilite. Rob's mom rocks for looking out for her son. Love her.

Moniq said...

Geez ppl, are you serious?
It`s obvious that this interview is fake!

1. Rob talks about BD, which is strictly forbidden
2. He said that he had signed the contract - how is that even possible, while Summit confirmed that according BD nothing was decided yet?
3. He said that they are preparing to BD shooting? He has two movies signed for next year, so he def doesn`t have time for BD in nearest future.
4. He actually said that he is only friend with Kbitch, while he denied any confirmation during whole NM tour - and you belive that he decided to talk about it with some Slovenia paper (no offence)

So, nice try. Interview is fake. Very funny, but still fake :D

I said this before on another blog but I have been following the twitter of one of the Stunt people who worked on Eclipse. She is legit...I looked up her bio and everything. She has said repeatedly that Rob and KS are NOT together. They are not dating and its all a PR stunt. I believe her...why would she lie about it. She was there at the Kings of Leon concert and said they snapped those pics when Rob and KS were talking close so they could hear eachother, then post them all over saying they're "together" and kissing. She said that was so false. I know none of you will believe this....but I do. They're body language is not that of a couple who are dating or together.

Also, about Rob's mom...don't diss her. She knows her son....as I know my son! (who is nearly the same age as Rob). She will always give him crap about things..that's what moms do! We have to keep our boys grounded! Maybe Rob was a goof off when he was younger...we don't know anything about him...so please leave his mama alone!

Ahh Monika, coming out to spew again.. Don't you ever give up the hate?

I actually feel sorry for you and your kind.

Rob has spoken about breaking dawnany times, in video interviews so I've seen & heard the words myself.. He has said he thinks it might begin filming next fall, but that it could change and he's said it may be filmed in Portland, but that's not confirmed..

We don't use "kbitch" here and you as always are not a welcome name to see here..

Go vomit elsewhere

SluttyPattz said...

@Monika, if this is your first post don't take any offense to phosphorus. There was a Monika that posted here all of the time that was booted off the blog for her disrespect of the blog owners. She was also known for constant Robsten nonsense. You may want to change your screen name b/c you will get a lot of negative remarks b/c people will assume you are her.

BTW - I lol'd at your Tombert comment.

rpattzgirl survived Rob! said...

And if you're not THE Monika, then I apologize although you're still wrong about Rob talking about breaking dawn

Unknown said...

I'm sure the translation is great and the interview is great too.

The reality is Robert's had a set answer for the big "are you or aren't you" question. We're close friends, we're close, we've been through a lot together.

Vanity Fair's article was similar in tone-this one goes a little farther. Since I think if he had anything to clear up, he would have done it in Vanity Fair. Since he didn't do it with that magazine, I don't really think he'd give the exclusive somewhere else to be honest.

With that said, this is business as usual though in terms of answers-this is his way of presenting his relationship with her publicly, and her approach is similar. They don't want to share the exact nature of it, nor should they have to.

Moniq said...

rpattzgirl - Wow - one person accused me of being Robsten shipper, and then You wrote that I`m not welcome in here, as always... very strange, cause like I said, it was my first comment in here, so both of you probably took me for different Monika, or I have some memory issue.
However, i still think that this interview is fake... I can not belive that Rob would say so many important information in some Slovakia magazine and only there...

GiGi said...

What is all this about Tombert?? Is that referrring to Rob and Tom Sturridge? They're best friends arent they??

Moniq said...

@LovesRob - yeah, it`s def about Tom and Rob :D I love Tom very, very much :D
@ Teri, thanks for clarification :D I probably shpuld change my name, but I have no idea how, so I`ll stick with Monika, and take everything you`ll throw at me :)

rpattzgirl survived Rob! said...

Monika,

Ilke I said, if you're not that Monika then I humbly apologize... You'd have to know the history of that crazy person and you'd understand... She's a whacko...

I still don't belive this is fake, but it's your belief to have.

riley said...

riley--this thread? Is exactly why Rob answers the way he does in interviews. There's a strategy here, and don't blame him for being strategic, his fans and their insistence on him either being with Kristen or NOT beint with Kristen has forced his hand.

Obviously, nonstens and robstenites care very deeply whether he's shagging his costar or not. That sort of passion on BOTH sides means confirming or denying will alienate one demographic or another.

Rob has MUCH to prove with "Remember Me"---he has to prove he can open a movie without Twilight backing him. Alienating EITHER group right now is just stupid on his part. His people know this.

So, Rob does not answer the question, and nonstens can swear up and down they are so not a couple, and robstenites can swear up and down they are.

Everyone's happy.

I don't care either way. The only thing I think that's clear is that regardless of what he says, he spends a lot of time with kristen, and he loves his mother. So no need to be ragging on either of them.

phosphorus said...

@ Monika, the new one: Yes, there was a girl with that name here before and she fervently argued in favour of "Robsten". So you may imagine my surprise to read your Kbitch remark. I should warn you, though: This remark won't go down well with Gözde, one of the blog owners.

Kristen Stewart & Robert Pattinson - Robsten - RK_Team said...

monika if u are polish, i know u from some polish forum

beyonce said...

People looking for a real confirmation or denial need to realize like others have said. If he didn't bother to set the record straight in Vanity Fair, don't expect to have set the record straight in Vikend.

I love the interview, it's fun. I agree the translation is fine I'm sure. That doesn't mean what he said necessarily gotten recorded correctly from the paper though.

Doesn't it seem curious that Robert and Kristen have handled the relationship question very guardedly in all American interviews. And then all these foreign magazines suddely get "the scoop" exclusively?

I'm just sayin', the fact these other foreign magazines, where translations not just from the magazine, but from the interviewer and interviewees, get these total confirmations and denials allgedly seems a little suspect.

Moniq said...

@ phosphorus - thanks for warning :D
@ rpattzgirl - ok, no blood, no harm :)
About interview - he may said something about BD in others interviews, but - already signed contract, while summit said that nothing was decided according BD?
And You really belive that he had offically denied his relationship with her in some slovakia magazine? I would be really happy about this confession, b/c, like i said, I`m big Tombert shipper ;)But I can not belive it...

Angela said...

Monika, I agree the Kbitch term is inappropriate for this site. This is a Rob-Loving Site. Not a kristen-hating place.

And the assumptions about breaking dawn are incorrect too.

So, we don't play that way around here.

But I do agree, some of the answers in the interview are a bit "off" for Rob, but we see that all time time around here in different magazines.

phosphorus said...

As to the interview: I, too, was wondering how the interviewer managed to get such a long interview with Rob. Remember the short interviews everybody else conducted recently? How long were they? Three minutes? And then they were cut off.

Slovakia is a rather small country, i.e. this Slovakian magazine won't sell that many copies. After all, it is not Vanity Fair, and how many people speak Slovakian? And I doubt that they can afford to send a journalist over to the US and cover all his expenses. Either this Stjepan Hundic is a free-lance, who not only managed to sell this interview to several magazines (perhaps in different languages, too) but was also able to draw the name of a bigger magazine out of the hat in order to get that much time with Rob - or this interview is faked, at least in some parts.

Moniq said...

@ Angela - exactly which of my assumptions about BD are incorrect? Summit confirmed that BD is ready for shooting? That cast signed contracts?

phosphorus said...

And the second thing that is bothering me with that interview: Those pics aren't exclusive pics. If the interviewer was granted that much time with Rob for an exclusive interview, he would have brought a photographer to take exclusive pictures.

solas said...

At one point, Rob and Chirs said they were having over 70 interviews in one day. i cannot fathom that. And this was whilst on a tour of 6 countries in 7 days. Most brains would just shut down and tongues would like to fall off. So I would imagine that after a while, or perhaps even ahead of time as prep, Rob would have ready staple answers, especially since most questions are so darn unoriginal.

Moniq said...

@ phosphorus - I haven`t thought about it, but you are 100% right... Huge interview in some small magazine in Europe.. very strange

phosphorus said...

Perhaps Stjepan Hundic also took some quotes of Rob from older interviews and threw them into the new one to make it longer.

phosphorus said...

Oops, it is a Slovenian magazine not a Slovakian. Sorry. Nonetheless, it is a small country, not that many people speak the language.

Nina said...

hmmmm.. i've given it a long thought whether to write a comment or not, but here I go although I'll probably regret it :D

the whole dispute about whether Rob used the word "white" or another one is just silly. Of course we'll never know since we'll probably never get the transcript of the actual interview (it might be fake, anyway, as someone pointed out - so what's the point *sarcasm*)... it's just the question of choosing politically correct word (caucasian, white, colourless, etc.) and whichever word Darja chose I think we all got the point or undertstood the answer and that's the most imporant thing right.

and to finish: Darja, excellent translation! (not because you're my friend, but because it'r simlpy well done)

cheers to all happy people ;))

Moniq said...

@phosphorus - or Rob gave him some common knows answers, and he decided to write a few Q/A himself.. let`s be serious.. Rob and his staff will probably never read this interview..and even if they found out somehow, they would probably do nothing about it. With all this bullshit which is written about Rob constantly, one more fake interview doesn`t do any difference.

solas said...

As for the issue/question of Rob's parents, Kristen, etc, --Rob has a lot of wonderful, beautiful qualities; sometimes these are as a result of being raised well, and sometimes a matter of a strong stubborn soul finding his own way. As I said previously, some really fine people have come from parents who did not raise them particularly well--sometimes people turn out well in SPITE of their parents, or at least in reaction to them; it is the better part of being human to seek to transcend that which transgressed you--even if it is your parents. I remember being upset when Rob was being mobbed in NY, thinking I would go down and shoo the pests away from him myself, and wondering why his own mother did not do the same. But I know my own son, older than Rob, would have been mortified if I had done that, and my kids tell me I am overprotective anyway. Could be; I just want everyone, not only my own kids, to be safe and healthy and happy. I also get upset that Rob's mother would read, let alone believe, what rags say about himself. But yes, sometimes as mothers, we know the damage our boys can do! Ultimately, I think Rob was and is a special soul, and I honestly think Kristen is the one who can give him the support and guidance in what gives him grief now--- he is not a little boy, but has some unresolved childhood issues, probably from being different, gifted, way beyond average, yet treated as average or expected to be. By being in the same place and time as Rob in so many crucial ways, and considering that Rob is no longer a child, Kristen can help him grow and flourish far more than his parents can, and I think she has, and I think he, in turn, has been wonderful for her.

There is a British interview where he talks about old quotes getting reprinted and "exclusive interviews" he never gave.

@Monika: Two assumptions regarding Breaking Dawn are incorrect. One is that Rob does not have a contract for a fourth film, if not a fifth, and the other is that he will have no time to do it next year, which is what I assume you meant by near future.

phosphorus said...

Here is Part one, just in case you want to watch it. ;-)

Moniq said...

@phosphorus - I absolutely adore this interview :) He looks so happy and relaxed :) However, That was exactly my point - a lot of magazines insists that they have exclusive interview with him, while most of them are simply fake or re - wirtten from different papers. And this one, unfortunatelly, looks like one of them...

phosphorus said...

@ Monika: Yep, the GMTV interview is lovely (and true).

And it was nice to hear that he's sick of the white make-up as well.

Moniq said...

@A - First - ok.. i haven`t heard or read anything about signing contracts, so I may be wrong, but please, give me a link if you can to any interview where anyone - from Summit or from the cast confirmed it.
Second - I said that it can not be true that they are preparing for BD shooting, b/c first half of the year he will be very busy... maybe after shooting Bel Ami.. but def not now. I may or may not be wrong... it`s just a thought

@Diane, loved your put down of Twilite girl's ludicrous comment. I was about to say something, but you did it better. I'm thinking the interview might be a fake for reasons people have already given, especially why he would care to describe his relaysh with K to a small foreign magazine. QUESTIION: How come I don't see much reference to the Harper's Bazaar interview with them both? Or did I just miss it. Frankly, that blew me away and revealed quit a bit about them and I'm pretty sure it wasn't fake. I know someone commented that they took offense to the "honeymoon" photos?

Dear Rob,

Did you have a good TG weekend? I bet you're so glad the press/promo tour is over. But we sure aren't. This is what happens when there's no news about you; people get desperate and start disecting every word you say in interviews and possibly even making them up!

Anyhow I hope that you're well and are having some fun. I miss you.

And Solas,
Such lovely and intuitive thoughts... you obviously understand human nature very well.

The little kid that plays Seth confirmed he had signed contracts for several movies.

Rob also confirmed in that one red carpet where he was so hyped up. Remember before Twilight premiered and he looked up and went "Oh yeah yeah. I'm signed on for Breaking Dawn as well" He looked shocked himself. It was too funny. he also talked about it at the academy awards "Breaking Dawn will be along sometime too"

Poor guy hasn't even read the book. Wants to be surprised or something. He'll be surprised, that's for sure.

And the whole comicon conversation about the cesarean was too funny.

I don't think there's a breaking dawn gag order from summit.

I think what's up in the air is whether it's 2 movies or not. I think they are signed to 4, but might be protesting the addition of a 5th movie. Thank God.

And I was pretty sure I read they plan to start filming in Fall of 2010, Rob will shoot the other 2 movies before then.

Apparently they make movies in like 6 weeks nowadays.

Loisada said...

Nina, I appreciate your remarks in that we all certainly need to stay positive and I was needlessly snarky, but I think you missed my point. I was trying to ward off conflict over these "quotes." The example with the different translations of any one word was simply to show people how useless it is to overanalyze vocab, syntax and punctuation to prove their own point about what they believe Rob is saying or prove or disprove their theories about his personal life.

Even if this was an exclusive interview, when you are reading a retranslation of a translation of a transcription of an interview (!@!).... chances are there is not one single sentence in this text that corresponds exactly to what he actually said. Yes, I know that's obvious, but I think too many people tend to forget it. It is just a fun approximation of answers he appears to have given at some point, and that's always an entertaining gift for us and thank you Darja for sharing it with us.

(I still have my salt bucket handy... right alongside my margarita pitcher!)

Rob was so funny. I'm a Sagittarius that hates when people tell me what to do and I'm stubborn as well. I definitely can be difficult and evil. LOL

Phos- I agree. This translation is good. BUT like Rob said there are some things he never said and old quotes being reprinted. This is a foreign mag from a small country that gets "THE ANSWER" big time US mag VF can't get. THIS IS HIGHLY SUSPECT.

Beyonce and Rosa- I agree with y'all. No way would he put their personal business out there like that. They have their set answers. Business as usual.

solas, I bet your intuition is right about Rob. you are so sweet. No matter what, Kristen and Rob will have grown tremendously and intimately from this experience. they will forever be linked together, like Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill. OK, who else is here is old enough to know who they are?

lallieb- I think the HB interview got burried in all the excitement around here. I think we all loved the photos and felt the comments were suggestive, but no one really got upset about them. I think the consensus was we likey the bikey.

yeah, I think the Harper's Bazaar stuff was well-received here, especially the pictures. @Monika: When Rob stated at Cannes in May of this year that he had 'signed on' for Breaking Dawn he meant that literally. Something written is a contract, without a doubt, even in a ‘pre-nup’ form. lol Obviously principle photography seems to be happening after Bel Ami, and not before. Summit has not said nothing is decided, at least not to my knowledge. It has said it’s not putting out any more info right now, other than their commitment to do the film, but it’s interesting they sold FX the rights to broadcast four films, and not just three. I guess we’re stuck in a quandary: either Rob is lying, and I can't think why he would, or....

Also why do people think this is not a real interview? Why would they lie about attending the press session in LA? I’m sure it was an exclusive for their reporter, meaning they may have been the only reps for their country. It sure sounds like they are being careful to include his non-verbal responses as well as the transcript. Maybe their translations are not as careful as some might do it, but it seems like bone fide to me. Just because Slovenia is small, doesn’t mean it’s insignificant… ;)

Marna said...

I think this interview suffers from too many translations, so some of the meaning may have been accidentally lost because I can't imagine Rob came right out & denied he was going out with Kristen. It's not that I don't think it's possible, it's that he's been avoiding the question everywhere else, why would he answer it for this interview?

Now, is there somebody from England who can explain the whole dating thing to me? Is it true about the 1 date thing? That just seems so odd to this US woman. Way back when I was single, 3 different dates in a week wasn't strange, & it didn't make you a whore either. How do people in England get to know each other?

solas said...

Angela--thanks, and I do remember Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill from Star Wars, but never ever considered them linked at all, and I do consider Rob and Kristen linked, at the very least as best friends and true kindred spirits. I just wish , especially for Rob's sake, that Kristen learn very soon -as in right away- what honest-to-goodness is compared to merely being honest, and the ultimate reflective intent and ramifications of the latter.

phosphorus said...

@ Karina: Thank you.

@ A: Well, I already explained why I think it is bogus or at least half faked. Rob is one of the most wanted interviewees at the moment, and there clearly is a hierarchy when it comes to choosing media. There are tv and radio shows, magazines and newspapers a celebrity just has to do when promoting a film and others that are not so important. The Slovenian Vikend clearly falls into the latter category. To get a message across it would have made more sense to give an exlusive interview to an British, French, German or Russian magazine - all languages spoken by a lot of people in more than one country (there were interviews in Spanish and Portugese, I think, this is why I didn't list those languages).

Moreover, some of the quotes just sound like taken from older interviews with other magazines. I neither have the time nor the energy to do the research to prove it to you. But I can assure you, I know what I am talking about.

Stjepan Hundic might have been to a press conference or to one of those "three minute dates" but I doubt he conducted a long exclusive interview with Rob.

Caroline said...

"I doubt Rob made that statement. He's been refusing to answer the question during the whole press tour and on Letterman, so why would he suddenly says they're only friends to a Slovenian magazine? Doubt it".2

beyonce said...

I'm not gonna lie, I really thought that Robert would make a "statment" either way about the Stew in either Harper's or Vanity Fair. There were rumors that he denied in VF and rumors he confirmed in HB.

When those two cover articles failed to deliver beyond suggestive implications, I knew THEN the question would not be answered definitively, and by design.
When you have FRACKING VF doing a cover story on you, it's an ideal forum to make a statement, and he didn't.

So, to be honest, any interview post VF seems sorta inconsequential to me. If this interview or any other interview had a legitimate confirmation or denial, as this interview asserts, it would be on every blog and Entertainment show today. It's not though, which says something.

@ A: Their management and Summit have a say in that, too, you know. They are the ones who choose the media, not Rob or Kristen. An interview of that length isn't done in three minutes, believe me.

Gee said...

Hi,

LovesRob i have to ask whats the name of this stunt person whos twitter you follow...im intrigued as to why he/she would make an effort to deny it on their behalf? does that seem suspiious to anyone else too?

And Marna im from the north of England...close to where robs dad is from!? * whoop, whoop* what he said is true, the dating scene is very different here...people don't really extend beyond more than 2/3 dates if they are genuinely interested.....dating sporadically is seen as a little loose......just my take on things!? P.s Dani, Kate, Gozde thank you soo much for doing a bloody ace job!?

Karina said...

I think that the answer is quite simple really. Vanity Fair wrote that Robert said they were just "friends." Robert and kristen have always acknolwedged they are friends. The "just" that VF added takes on a whole new meaning though. And that sorta nuance and the differences in implications happens when we are all speaking the same language!

Add a different language on, where Robert has a question tranlated into English, then his answer is tranlated into a foreign language, than the writer writes it up with quotes as well as his own sequeways. Then have someone translate THAT back into English?

See how easy it would be for the words and meanings to come out a little differently?

This interview has a definitive denial in it. The fact he has not given a definitive denial to anyone else, including Vanity Fair, makes it easy to imagine that perhaps language and translations and retranslations may have to do with the change in approach he has kept going throughout his press tour with every other media outlet.

No one's a bad guy, there's just a lot of room for small nuances to get lost in translation.

I remember Rob and Taylor's appearance on Tyra's show last year. Tyra asked them both if they were dating and when Taylor said he was dating two girls, Rob's immediate reaction was, "What?..How do you do that?!" He was genuinely puzzled. This says a lot about how Rob views dates; they are for people in relationships.

Marenostrum said...

@Marna, I don't know about England but I know about Turkey which seems like having the same dating culture of England. You only date with the person you like and you date only one person and this person is your girlfriend/boyfriend. You don't randomly date with people. You get to know each other without dating, as a friend. Then when somebody has the courage to say or show that they like the person, this is the time they start dating. In summary, you date with your girlfriend/boyfriend. I have been US almost 9 years now and I could never understand this dating culture either. And I have never been into it, as I have been with my husband for the last 10 years, 4 years of marriage. I would feel weird anyway. I would never want to go out with somebody that I don't like already or just beacuse he's cute. I always went out with men that I am already in love with. I think this is just a culture difference.

Loisada said...

Solas... that's such a perfect misconstruing! We probably should call fan fiction "FFF"... free fantasy fucking!

well, I'm in the states and I didn't date casually at all, not beyond the first date. I found it dishonest, but yes, some people think they are all sex and the city and can date lots of people. Most people just talk about it but don't actually do it!

I'm thinking now that this article took an old "just friends" quote from Rob, just like VF did. He was denying it up until Comicon, so it's just an old quote resurfacing.

And VF did post in the article that this was an old quote. they put something like "this may have changed by the time this is published."

YES, Robert's wording of his relationship with Kristen is nuanced, it walks the line.

People all speaking the same language read his nuanced definitions, and argue about the inferences.

Now throw in foreign laungage translations and retranslations, and the nuance is even further obscured.

Robert's gracious in every interview, but he's consistent in terms of how he frames how he relates to Kristen. That's why people are wondering about this interviews implications.

solas said...

I don't think it is only a British thing; in my world, we only date one person at a time, get to know each other intensely and decide to either end it totally or continue exclusively; dating more than one person at a time would dilute the experience, and add confusion (Was it this guy who did that, or the other, etc...). We also don't drink, though. (Please no jokes about my being Irish and not drinking!!)
But back in the day we did go out in groups of guys and girls together. It wasn't dating and as far as I know, no one was sleeping with anyone; we just went out and had fun--good clean fun. I don't know if people do that anymore.
I didn't catch that Rob asked Taylor how he did that-- date 2 people at the same time-- but that was very interesting.

Shani said...

Gee- That's because here in the US we drive everywhere. People so often take huge risks in driving while intoxicated. That risk turns into accidents and deaths. The driver most times doesn't even end up with a scratch on them. But the innocent driver that they hit has lost their life or is seriously injured and stuck in a hospital for weeks or months. THAT'S WHY we have an organization called MADD(Mothers Against Drunk Driving). It's to keep the message in the forefront of the public's mind...That if you drive drunk you are not only messing with your life, but you could destroy an innocent family.

I mean at times if you even look away for a split second your car can turn into traffic and cause a major accident. So your focus on driving surely isn't up to par while your drunk off your ass.

riley said...

PR stunts are for lower level celebrities who need to stir up heat and attention on their tv or movie projects with a showmance.

Robert is too big a celebrity to have to schlep around a showmance for half of a year now(the length of time they both stopped denying outright).

New Moon has so much publicity with Rob, he uses a public bathroom and it's top news now. He doesn't have to encourage attention when it comes to Kristen at all. They were on opposite coasts and the "romance robsten story"kept chugging along all summer!

PR for New Moon is great for Summit, but BAD for Robert long term. The more PR that's associating him with Edward and with Kristen Stewart, the more he's got "Edward 2010" stamped on his head.

riley said...

ps: every movie production talks up the "chemistry" of the two leads when there's a romantic angle. That sort of PR is understood for Robert and Kristen and Summit talks about it all day long because it's honestly the only selling point of the franchise.

It's another thing to do sham showmances that stretch out for months on end, and intrude onto the personal lives of the stars to the point it has for both Robert and Kristen. Their lives as media targets has been insane for months now, that sort of intense scrutiny is not your average PR "are they or are they not" move.

jen said...

if two people refuse to state exactly the nature of their relationship, I think it's fair to say they are going to be just as careful to not give away the nature of their relationship with nonverbal language as well when out in public.

solas said...

At the risk of sounding redundant, because I HAVE asked this here before, what difference does it make if Rob and Kristen are a 'couple', dating, etc or not, unless you are engaged to or married to one of them, or expect to be?

At the very least they care about each other, enjoy each other's company, and seem to be kindred spirits. Can we not all just wish them well, and leave them with some sense of private lives, no matter what(unless something dangerous G-d forbid) goes on those private lives?

jmm4832 said...

LovesRob, I have to disagree with you about the R&K body language. Have you seen the pictures of them promoting NM in Munich? They are very telling. Do I really give a cr*p who Rob dates? Nope.

Shani said...

SORRY SOLAS!! But I have to agree with Jen's comment. Those two are smart. If you don't want your personal business out there your not going to give any clear indication something is going on. People do it all the time.

For instance, co-workers in an office. You know their is a non-fraternization policy which means your not allowed by the company to get into a relationship with anyone you work with. But people overlook that policy and get with their co-worker and act like they hardly know each other at work. It's all hi and bye. Then go home and get busy. LOL

PhinPhan said...

Shani: Thank u so much for the support. However, my conscience calls. For anyone interested, I am starting a new support group: MATFLAR - Mothers Against Themselves For Lusting After Rob. Meetings will continue until further notice, i.e. until Rob reaches manhood or until I (and by that I mean we) capture him and teach him how to be a man.

GiGi said...

Yes, I see your points...and maybe they are together...but if Rob isnt the type to partake in a "PR" sham, then why do they feel the need to not show their romance....I would think if they really are dating, they would be happy to let the world know...the stunt gal said they are not together but are "teasing it"....teasing all of us....So...who really knows. We'll see if KS goes to London for Christmas...that will be really telling.

jlsentangledweb said...

I agree with Solas. What does it matter who says/does/thinks/acts what? He (and everyone else) is entitled to a private life, and as long as he's happy (as he seems a lot lately), more power to him.

jen said...

lovesrob: you have to ask what robert and kristen are getting from "teasing" us. Teasing is asking for more attention. At the moment, they are the most overexposed celebrities along with Jon Gosselin and Octomom- not the type of professional company they want to be keeping. It cheapens their public image to be overexposed, and it creates a backlash as well where people get sick of them before they are even done with the franchise.

Robert and Kristen have made it clear they want longetvity, not superstardom in acting. Teasing the public with PR stunts is not the way to go about this. The fact they both have gone MIA the minute they are done with promotion is a clear sign they aren't begging for attention.

Re the ff---and alt definition---I've been getting freaking GREAT fanfic recs from the group here (Wide Awake, wow!); a big thank you! Maybe Goz & Co could spring us "Fanfic Rec of the Week" spot---kinda like NM spoilers? Would make them MUCH easier to find. And I'm sure there's a random pix of Rob lying around to get us drooling...

Re @marenostrum and @Gee - I'm finding the cultural differences of dating absolutely fascinating. There must be a line between being "friends" and "dating" that isn't so clear in the US. Going to a movie can be seen as a "date" and then yes, you can have a SATC kind of date. There's a whole lot of wiggle room (lol) in there, but still, all dating. Give me examples! What's a "friend" thing versus a "date" in other countries?

lallieb said...

@Robslove: Months ago on another blog, a guy (I believe) wrote a comment the he had witnessed Rob and Kristen together and that they were dating, but it was new (during NM shoot). I questioned him. His response really gave me pause, because he seemed very sincere. He apologized to me that he made it sound like he was in the room with them, but he worked in Vancouver and feared losing his job if he said too much. Now I may be a big sucker, but something about what he said and HOW he said it, made me believe him. Now it could be that he was just observing their growing closeness as friends and misinterpreted it. I don't care if they are dating, agree with others on supporting whatever their relationship is, but it is annoying to be bounced back and forth, no I definitely don't believe it to yes I think they are on and then back again. I have whiplash from it! I know I gotta let it go - until the next Pap photos of possible PDA come out!

Marna said...

I'm also finding all these dating differences interesting, so I have more questions LOL

1. If people are friends & then it becomes serious & they date & are officially a couple, do you have such a thing as "friends with benefits"?

2. Do you have anything like the 3rd date rule? (that's when it's OK to have sex with someone)

3. What happens if you go out on the first date & decide you don't like that person, do you have to break up with them, or just not go out on any more dates?

I've changed my mind..if he's dating her, fine. He needs the experience (according to the man-child himself)...if he's not, all the better...he needs a teacher with experience. If he wants to and she doesn't, then he'll find someone else (MAYYYYBEEE a fan). If she wants to and he doesn't...well maybe his taste are not so white-bread)which is good for all of us here on the fringe. The only sad possibility in the list of possibilities is that he could be gay, which is fine for him, but bad for US. So, I say let's look at his possible interest in "her" as a good thing . Dating/Not Dating....Definitions of dating.....what is a date in Timbuktu...what is a date in London...what is a date in LA....this is all irrelevant to me. I say drinking and dating go together very well, at least that has been my experience. I would still be immaculate without the vino and so to recap...Rob should drink and date whomever and with all his millions, he should just hire a driver. I think that covers everyone's concerns (other than my continuing guilt complex, which no one has sucessfully talked me out of).

What is SATC?

Dating habits: In my particular world (a fairly strict religious order type of existence)we date one man at a time and get to know each other. The dates are often chaperoned, especially dates for young people, or in public places where they are watched. No touching is allowed. No sleeping together is allowed. If, after 3 dates, they don't feel a connection that will last for life, or cannot see committing to that person for life, they end the dating and look for someone different to date.
It was not always like this. Back in the day when I was a teen, the religious establishment, and especially the parents, were not that extreme; we DID go out in groups of boys and girls and, as I said before, had good clean fun (sometimes obnoxious fun). The most shocking risque thing was if a girl sat on a guy's lap when the car was crowded-- if parents were driving we would NEVER be allowed to do that! My father once called my older sister a whore for sitting on a boy's lap!!!For a real date which we defined as one guy and one girl, a boy called up and arranged a date, parents checked out the boy and his family. (It was like what was seen in shows taking place in the 50s, except this was in the 70s!)I personally was not allowed to date until my parents felt I was ready to marry and find a mate for life, but I escaped my parents' home at age 15 and had a few years of freedom, yet still did not do anything that I see in the outside world going on today-- no sleeping together, not even kissing.
From what I see of the outside world today, people automatically assume that those who are dating are -or will be- sleeping together, that it is just a matter of time (How many dates). Intellectually I understand this happens, but I cannot fathom it; as a psychologist/counselor I would not advise it. I could go into how harmful I think it ultimately is socially, emotionally, etc, but I am taking too much space already and want to see other people's ideas of dating.

@solas, sorry, SATC=Sex and the City (not a big fan, but my MOTHER is. Go figure. She's almost 70!)

Then, I am here... Gwen grins sheepishly.

LOL Gwen.
Thanks for the definition. I saw the show once and was utterly horrified and stunned and wanted to hide under my bed for fear of what would happen in a world where this was the norm! ;-)

@solas, for your own peace of mind, I promise never to tell you about my 20s :-)

What is wrong with SATC? I loved it and the fact that women were shown to be masters of their domain for once. Feminism saved us from being slaves to the other sex. Without it, there WOULD NOT BE SITES LIKE THIS. Men have been using women for sex without consequence since the beginning of time...I feel like I've travelled back in time even saying this. Viva la SATC & Viva la Sexual Freedom for ALL the sexes.

Gwen Cooper 426 said...

@Solas, great info on the dating diffs! Wow, I never considered how things could be elsewhere, in this day and age.

My dating history is pretty gosh darn small:
1) dated a co-worker briefly (lol, R&K); he went off to study theology. Yeah.
2) dated a neighbor briefly---he was getting divorced. Can you say rebound? Yuck.
3) my cousin introduced me to one of her military buds. We dated for 3.5 years, got married---and we're still here! (Slightly Jealous Hubs printed out a Thanksgiving pix of himself to put on my monitor---because I'm at this site so much!) ;) He's so cute! My Hubs.

Well, Rob too, but that goes without saying.

I can't blame cultural mores for my lack of dating---just my mom. (You know, the SATC fan? Yeah, the same one who would have put me in a convent if we had been Catholic. Go figure.)

Hollywood must shock some countries silly---both in movies and celebrity lifestyles. Interesting! And good to know that perception of things like this can be so different based on where you are!

Whether or not they are together will have to surface relatively soon. They're not going to be filming together for a while so it's going to be harder to hide.

And I don't really care if they are together or not, but here are the facts: you have two highly attractive people, of the opposite sex, working extremely close together for hours on end, locked up in hotels together, and seemingly unattached to anyone else.

Well, I remember my college days pretty well, the ages that they are right now, and if they're not 'together' in one way or another, then they've got a hellavalot of personal restraint and zero hormones. I mean, wow, it's almost unimaginable that they aren't together given the circumstances. Just sayin...

solas said...

Gwen--yes, hollywood does shock many in the world, even in this country! Television, movies, secular (nonrelgious) music, and even internet are strongly frowned upon by the present establishment of my religious 'order', and some will not associate with me or did not let their children play with mine because I do watch some TV, a few movies, use the internet, and listen to rock almost exclusively.

I wasn't kidding before when I said this site has given me quite an education!

Gwen Cooper 426 said...

Side question folks, what is Hollywood's counterpart in England? I mean, obviously, I watch BBC shows (ahem) and I've seen HP; assuming there's a major film industry in England? But, I thought Rob mentioned in an interview that he had to be in LA---cause there wasn't one...or much of one?

solas said...

I don't recall anything like Hollywood in England.

@Gwen and Marna: There is a difference between being friends and being boyfriend/girlfriend (which means dating)... When you are friends you are usually not alone with that person; if you are alone, it is beacuse somebody or both of you are trying hard to create that situation which is already saying something... :P When he asks you to go out together with him alone, it probably means that he is going to say that he likes you and he is going to ask you to be his girlfriend. Nobody usually asks a person out without knowing him/her.

Having sex on the third date??? Are you kidding me? In Turkey, probably most of the women are still virgin while getting married. (Each one of them is Bella.. :))) ) But, now it is changing. I can still say that the girls prefer to have sex for the first time when the relationship is serious. And because going on date means having real feelings for the other person and announcing those feelings, you could have sex on the first, second, third or whatever day of your relationship...

Gwen Cooper 426 said...

@Marenostrum, thanks for sharing! I think I get the worldwide appeal of both Stephenie's and JK Rowling's books now too.

I'm constantly defending both to friends and family from being "too kiddy-ish"---they are Young Adult books (read chaste). Since I read a WIDE variety of genres, so I don't really get too passionate (snort) in their defense, but I bet that is EXACTLY why they appeal to such a global audience.

I can read smut anywhere (sometimes, even here, lol) online (spent years reading/writing about a couple of FBI agents---damn xfff habit). Sometimes, it's just nice to visit Bella's world. It's really pretty. So is Edward, sigh.

(Sorry, Mulder.)

Marna, at least here in SoCal:

1. No... because FBs are not a couple. They are friends doing it on the side, but choose not to commit and are still open to meeting other people.

2. Well... in the LA area.. if you're attracted to the guy and hold off until the 3rd date... you're playing the prude game! ;-)

3. No, you don't break up until you've decided to tell people you're dating, and 1 single date doesn't qualify for that.

There has been a big change over the past 20 years in the States as to the definition of "dating" among young people. Before, you "dated" someone to get to know them, and it could be very casual like a movie together. You could go out on dates with different guys, doing "innocuous" activities with them, and not look slutish. Once you decided to become exclusive and get intimate, you were boy friend and girlfriend, and not just dating any more.

Today (at least among So Cal youngsters), kids "hook-up" first, which means establish some kind of physical intimacy, then decide if they want to keep things going and get to know each other better. If they decide to become exclusive, then they say they're "dating" each other. The world upside down!

Karina said...

BarbG---haha, that's how I see it. it's just sorta more about biology and hormones and very good looking people being isolated together more than all these other factors people talk about.

Gwen Cooper 426 said...

@Loisada, same here in Colorado. Your last paragraph especially. Upside down; casual hook-ups, THEN the "dating/relationship". Maybe.

We left SoCal back in '04; I'd say that the more casual thing was in place even ten years ago. But, I was already married when I went to CSUN, so maybe my perspective was off. Still, had lots of single friends---there was a whole lotta gray to the "dating" scene. I was actually GLAD I wasn't single.

God, I miss LA. (Snow is pretty. On Christmas day. Only.)

Marna said...

I'm in Northern Cal now but I know nothing about dating here since I didn't move here until I was long married. All my info on dating is from when I was single (a VERY long time ago) & also living in the New York/New Jersey area. I remember it being very casual, & seeing more than one guy in a week. The 3rd date rule was used by girls to themselves from themselves LOL, I remember not shaving my legs before going out on a date because I knew there was no way I was going to have sex with hairy legs! Some girls would wear "granny panties" for the same reason. Unfortunately, it didn't always work :-)

Gwen Cooper 426 said...

@ Marna, LOL! Granny panties! And even SM had Bella shaving her legs in BD, THAT night.

Think guys do "getting lucky" stuff? Extra deodorant maybe? I should ask the Hubs---then again, he's packing for a business trip right now. Maybe not. Might give him ideas...

Wow--I am blown away from reading something on this site again!!! I heard of 'hooking up' last year, was told it meant 'sleeping with' (euphemism here) someone you did not necessarily love or know very well, but I did not realize it was done FIRST and AFTER which people would decide whether or not to date!
Psychologically that is so not good. I am just stunned, that in addition to everything else going on the world, young people will have to contend with the ramifications of that. :-(
Now I am wondering of the increased oppression in the religious establishment is a reaction to the 'hooking up' phenomenon, and the reasoning/ rationalization supporting it; an attempt to protect the young. Wow.

@Becky: I wish I could help you out with the guilt thing, but I'm dealing with my own issues (am I a perve or not?) re. the man/child. Did he really say that? I use to tell friends at work that I thought of Rob more like a son. They weren't buying; next thing I know there's the life-size cut-out of Edward standing in my cubicle one morning! I don't need to tell you where he is now, but I justify it saying he hides the vacuum cleaner. I liked how you wrapped up the "dating" issue and especially that you put what I think is the "elephant in the room" possibility up for consideration. Good for him, not necessarily bad for the older gals, and actuallly wouldn't be so good for him at this point in time.

Though it seems everyone has moved on - the term 'Kbitch' is being used POSITIVELY on several LJ communities that are definite fans of Kristen Stewart and are also very pro-Robsten. Taking offence to the term is one thing, but given the Kstew fandom I don't think you can assume the person who uses it is anti-Stew. The opposite more likely. I am 100% sure that these two are a couple and that it will just be a matter of time before it is confirmed. I'm rather disappointed to see the level of disrespect everyone is showing to each other here - it's more like some other boards that I've had a look at. Yes, Rob has a great sense of humour and so the comment (which is not new) about his mom believing the tabloids over him should be taken with a grain of salt, but coming down so hard on someone for saying something negative about his mother; really?

solas said...

Freeedomland-
Some here are passionate in their defence of Rob and, by extension, his family. So when they perceive an attack, they strike back. Very primal here, sometimes!
I personally wish they would be as strong in their defence of Kristen, but because she is seen by some as a threat to their covetous needfor, or plain phantasies of, Rob, she is not always included in the extension of Rob's world.

Thanks Solas - I find the interest (including my own) in these two to be quite amazing. Celebrity obsession seems to have taken on a whole new level. Having never been one to follow the lives of celebrities before I am amazed at the power that these two have to draw out such a range of response from people coming from such different life circumstances and personal backgrounds; from the lustfulness of some to the protectiveness of others (myself in the latter category). I guess we must all be a bit bored as a baseline ;-)

solas said...

heh heh--If you knew my life, you would know I don't know what bored is--no time for it, and too busy trying to stay alive!, but I am surely in the latter category (protectiveness). They elicit the mother-bear in me.

This is funny - Kbitch has made it into the online urban dictionary :-)

Well, I can't seem to get my thanks about the clarification on the other post so I'll try here. I guess if this doesn't go through my commenting days are over. lol

Thanks for the clarification, but sorry it was necessary, and for the translation, Darja. Enjoyed the interview and nice of the editor to respond.

@BarbG: Re. the two young attractive people, situation, and hormonal urges...Yup, people can analyze it to death, but when all is said and done you nailed it. A "hook-up" would be hard to avoid unless no hormones, no libido, and perish that thought!. Case closed? (Doubt it.)
