MTV Interview: Robert Pattinson says 90 year old women say the same things to him as 12 year olds!

From MTV
Robert Pattinson Calls Taylor Lautner's Transformation 'Strange'
'I was like, 'Jeez, now I have to go to the gym!' ' the 'New Moon' star recalls

With "New Moon" still riding high at the box office and poised to become one of the highest-grossing films of the year — if not all time — the world can't seem to get enough of Robert Pattinson. It's a good thing, then, that our pals over at MTV Radio recently spoke with the "Twilight" heartthrob.

Last week, we brought you RPattz's thoughts on romances, both onscreen and off. Now, as those Thanksgiving leftovers wear thin, we're happy to dish out part two of that interview, featuring some yummy tidbits on Rob's 90-year-old fans, jealousy over Taylor's bod, and his New Year's resolution to be less self-deprecating.

MTV: Taylor Lautner's transformation between the movies is now the stuff of legend. Tell us about the first time you saw him and what you thought.

Robert Pattinson: I didn't see Taylor until just a little bit before we started shooting ["New Moon"]. When he came back, I had the same reaction as everybody else. I was like, "Jeez, now I have to go to the gym!" But yeah, it was strange. This one was weird, because I hardly did any scenes with Taylor. We did the scenes at the beginning and scenes at the end [together], and he had his entire story line develop without me being around, which is interesting, because I had no idea where his performance was going. So it wasn't really a competition or anything; it was all independent. Whereas in "Eclipse," we're doing scenes together all the time with Bella.

MTV: Who is your favorite movie vampire of all time?

Pattinson: Wow, I don't really know. I always think of the wrong people. I always think Christian Slater in "Interview With a Vampire," but he's not the vampire — he's the interviewer! I really like Wesley Snipes [in the "Blade" movies]. I think Wesley Snipes is great.

MTV: Out of all the "Twilight" stars, you seem to do the fewest interviews. Why is that?

Pattinson: I think it's such a risky thing doing interviews. I try to limit the amount of interviews I do, because no one is that interesting, especially when you're not really saying anything. I don't particularly want to be some kind of character in society or whatever. So I guess the only thing you can do is do jobs and see if people respond to that.

MTV: You tease yourself as "not saying anything," and a lot of people see you as being self-deprecating. Are you?

Pattinson: I'm always told that I don't really know who I am, so hopefully I won't compartmentalize myself because of that. I am just completely ignorant of [how others perceive me]. I've never really struggled with anything up until recently. I've got to stop being so self-depreciating, because people are starting to believe it. They're like, "Yeah, that guy is an idiot." So I've tried to stop doing that.

MTV: What was the last fan interaction that really made you laugh?

Pattinson: I always find it funny when older people come up. There was a woman who came up to me the other day who must have been in her 90s! And she said all this stuff; it's very unusual. And they say exactly the same things as 12-year-old girls! That is kind of bizarre. (Kate: It wasn't me I'm not 90 (yet))

Thanks to RobPattznews for the tip

Well 12 year olds want you to bite them, where as the "older" ladies want a lot more from you, or want to do things (good things) to you!

Susana said...

@rpattzgirl ;) I agree pretty much! "Older" women knows what they want REALLY, REALLY WELL!! LMAO
Good point!

Youth is wasted on the young!!! Yeah, Rob, we wouldn't have any problems with what we'd want and btw, you sure don't need to go to any gym. You're perfect!

I will always love you Rob...no matter what you do, who you co-star with or what projects I see you in...you just have that incredible, sweet manly nature and zest for life about you that Hollywood hasn't seen since ohhhh let's see? Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan. Oh and once a man to one, you will always be a man to many. Yes, 90 yr. olds say the same things that 12 yr. olds say about you and to you I'd imagine because we all, as women, recognize beauty, charm, intelligence, and humility. In other words the perfect man! And you my dear are most perfect darling. And we will always love you Robert. Always. I think we can see where you're headed and it's all bright sunny skies and long, sexy, sweet, passionate, kisses on your co-stars and we can live vicariously thru that as well. I've started thinking about younger men as a real, viable, source of happiness and love for myself now as I never did before. You've opened the nations women's eyes towards younger men on the whole I think as well as to yourself. We know what we're doing and how to get what we want. So....watch it Mr. Pattinson! One of us 'older women' may just be your cup of tea in a very happy, blissful, satisfying way that no woman your age has ever been to you so far. lol! Just think...;)

Love Lisa J.
single, older Mom loving RPatz and everything he does.

"Geez" I don't think that Rob needs to go to the gym at all. He is gorgeous! I am glad that he has plans to stop self depreciate himself all the time.

rpattzgirl survived Rob! said...

Beautiful words Lisa J, amen to that!

I'm watching twilight and although it will always have a special place in my heart, New Moon quality is so much higher.

"Bella" does not have that garrish blue eye shadow anymore or the peachy lipstick... She looks so much more natural & beautiful in nm.

And Robward, well he's stunning in both.. But like his clothes way better in twilight!

Ana73 said...

rob looks so HOT in this pic...

i dont understand the comment that he doesn't do many interviews, i think this month he did a ton, more than twilight.

RPG - completely agree with you.

jc(britlover) said...

rpattzgirl
Total agreement! Robward's clothes much more suitable and trendy in twilight. The only time I like Rob's pants is at the clock tower scene-how low can you go!!!!!!

rpattzgirl survived Rob! said...

@jc
I totally agree!!! Nice V shot was the best!!

Hi Ana73! Cuddled up with my Lily watching twilight having a nice quiet night..how you doing?

rpattzgirl survived Rob! said...

Oh! Did you read the EP out take??? Holy god had to take a cold shower after that one!

MMc said...

I wanted those pants at the clock tower to be tighter - they were too loose and baggy on him.
Aren't we picky?

I loved the long coat he wore in NM, though, and the clothes he wore on "the walk" - pure awesome........drool worthy for sure.

Ana73 said...

RPG - just saw there was one and waiting to put my son to sleep before i read it.

doing fine though, weekend over and house back to normal. one more month of work then i get to quit, YAY!!!

rpattzgirl survived Rob! said...

@femroc,
I so agree on the clothes during "the walk" gah!!

Swoon worthy!!

Ana73 said...

oh, and the loose pants showed off his "v" much better, so i did like those pants a whole lot :))

rpattzgirl survived Rob! said...

And his sparkles in New Moon were to die for!! He was so breathtaking in the opening scene thought I would pass out for sure!

Ana73 said...

the opening scene when they showed him, he actually took my breath away, no joke. when i went with my husband to see it, he said that every time "edward" came on screen i had a big cheesy grin on my face :)))

rpattzgirl survived Rob! said...

Ana73,

yay for you!!!

Yea we're back to normal now too..love the peace and quiet..

I've been on vacay for a week and back to work tomorrow-boo...

I've had a horrible cold the whole time I was off-but it didn't stop me from seeing new moon all week long!

Unknown said...

@piningforpretty - I actually saw the same demographic on the premiere too..and mind you most of them were rooting for ROB!

Rob I just think that a little less self-deprecating would be okay, it really does get old you know.I think you need a good break and an Oscar-worthy movie, that should fire up some self-esteem, but know that we, your fans are all here to support you on whatever you do (except fade into oblivion cuz then we can't track you)

RPG-oh, that's a bummer to be sick on your vacation but hey at least you got to see NM again and again...

rpattzgirl survived Rob! said...

Ana73,
ugh!!! How infuriating for you!!! Yea that would piss me off to no end!! Good for to get out & go shopping!!

Yea, I forgot to mention that my ex don in law who walked out on his family 7 yrs ago & hasn't been seen since decided to show up that night.. The nerve of some!!!

I was lucky enough to be passed out for most of that!

Gee, can't wait to see what Christmas brings!!

Hope santa brings me Rob

Ana73 said...

RPG- well my christmas will be much quieter, just my husband, my son and myself. everyone is going to calif. this time.

it was kind of funny that i wasn't planning to go to the sales on friday but when i saw that, i went and shopped and shopped and i am not the shopping type.

that does suck about your son in law, i guess you didn't welcome him with open arms.

Ana73 said...

oh, and i am hoping for rob too, nicely wrapped in a red bow, just a bow and nothing else :)))

I've been trying to process the parallel of 90 year olds with 12 year-olds, and after the initial grossed-out/freaked out impression, I came to realize that 90 year olds, if mentally competent, are wise and have seen a lot; they must realize with a surety how beautiful and talented Rob is, beyond anyone else they have experienced in such a long lifetime. The 12 year olds are at a point (hopefully) of innocent awareness, where they can still appreciate the beauty in the world without all of the jaded eyesight of so-called sophistication and all the games of growing up and dealing with all the garbage of the world. So it is logical that those with much wisdom and experience, and those with innocence and unclouded appreciation of beauty, can coincide in their appreciation of Rob. ;-)

I know this doesn't go with post but I just wanted all your opinions of new moon. Is it good? Cause it looks exciting to watch.

My friend told me that someone told her it was boring and it wasn't good as twilight.
It sucks hearing from another fan that they are not excited to go see a movie that fans have been waiting for.

I haven't seen it yet * hides in shame* but the thing is my father wants to go see new moon also, I think the cgi wolves pulled him in Lol.
And I'm waiting for a day he is free to go.

Haystackhair said...

yeah well, Rob can get the girly bits of any age in a tizzy.

Emily said...

Hi ladies!

I just read this interview and I gotta say, I hope Rob doesn't believe people who tell him that he doesn't really know who he is. I think he knows exactly who he is and that's why he has been able to go through all of this without it changing him.

But I do agree when he says, "I am just completely ignorant of how others perceive me." And that's okay. It would probably just freak him out. ;)

solas - Very insightful. I always like reading your comments, you are so deep.

Kimmie - YES! GO!

Ana73 said...

kimmie - they have a thread on here just for New Moon spoilers - look thru the past days - and that is where everyone is giving their opinions about the movie. that's really nice that your dad wants to see it with you. i loved the movie, i liked it more than twilight, it wasn't boring for me either. hope you get to see it soon.

solas said...

Kimmie--the first time I saw NewMoon, I liked it but my mind was racing; I think I was thinking about how the movie compared to the book, and anticpating what was coming, and wondering what was missing, the second time, I loved it, and the third time, WOW!!!!

Ana73 said...

solas - you are so right about the first time, especially since i re-read new moon the day before. i was comparing to the book too much. the second time i loved it even more. want to see it again but haven't been able to go again but i will :)

Emily said...

Yeah, definitely see it more than once. I loved my first time because I was by myself and the theater was pretty empty. I felt more much more emotional during the first viewing but the second and third times it was easier to focus on the details.

I'm ready to see it again!

Kimmie said...

@ Ana73, solas and everbody else. Thanks. Yea I'm thinking that I might be comparing the movie to the book when I see it. Hopefully I don't though. Hopefully after I see it the first time, hopefully I can go see it few times more.

rpattzgirl survived Rob! said...

Kimmie,

go, run, see... But.. It may take 2 times.. I say that because and I think many will agree, the first time you're anxiety is so high, and it's natural to be waiting for things in the book, and you end up focusing more on what's missing, rather than the total beauty of what's there.

It's breathtaking, funny, exciting, scary, heartbreaking, emotional and visually stunning.

Yeah, I didn't know what it was for a long time either. :)

Well, my husband is falling asleep on the couch next to me so I better call it a night. :)

Sweet Rob dreams to you!

Something maybe unrelated to this post... I was at a a big shopping mall the other day and saw a male and a female mannequin, at a Levi's store I think... The thing is the male one was dressed with a shirt, which was PLAID AND MISBUTTONED. And the female one, which stood just beside, was dressed with a similar plaid shirt and properly buttoned. I really don't know why someone just misbutton the shirt on the male mannequin. I was like "WHY?". I do really, really want to know the person who put those shirts on for the mannequins and maybe I would ask if she (I'm quite sure that person was a girl, I don't know why) did that (misbuttoning the shirt on the male mannequin) on purpose and if she was inspired by Rob.

I'd never seen any mannequins here dressed in a misbuttoned shirt before.

Really wondering.
