We're all looking forward to this one... I'm sorry that Robert had to work on his birthday,,, but, I did too. I'd love to find tha shooting schedule for this, I'm not far off from some of it, I think.

Well, he's a grown up & grown ups have to work on our birthdays! He worked last year too...

I'm hope he has fun tonight....whatever type of fun he choses...

Was he talking about the old Jacob or the young Jacob since I don't see how Rob has had time to prepare.

Steph is Legit said...

he plays both parts. they just put makeup on him

i am looking at oprah agaiun

Ana73 said...

Just saw the oprah show on TV, loved it. I thought ALL three of them do have a really good working chemistry. I wish they would have focused less on fans and more on them. but i did love it.

Jane - Hal Holbrook is supposed to be playing the older Jacob in WFE, i think.

HeartThePretty_EvenMore said...

He worked on his last birthday according to the New Moon outtakes. They had a cake for him on the set.

I wonder if I can hire a helicopter and scour the area for 'the Big Top'. I can do cake delivery!

Have a great time celebrating with Rosie!

solas said...

No steph--Hal Holbrook will play old Jacob.

Steph--is today your 21st birthday?

solas said...

Perhaps the rehearsing was to get used to the elephant. wonder if they are dyeing Rob's hair red, and if so, when?

My guess is Rob will not be going to Cannes.

Based on his comments in the Details article (best day of my life...) I'm guessing he probably LOVED being with 'Rosie' on his birthday.

I hope that Robert will have a wonderful 24th birthday, with the best of my wishes.

I'm really excited for Water For Elephants, I think it has great potential with the basic romance storyline, and the story of the circus and Rosie entertwined with it.

On another note, I watched the Oprah show, thanks to this website! I wasn't at home when they showed it on television. And I thought it was a fairly good interview. They all seemed more relaxed, and Robert was great in it. I loved how he joked a lot. And the part when they showed him going to the fans' houses was TOO CUTE, and FUNNY.

I liked the clip when they showed Edward at a stand off with Jacob over Jacob forcefully kissing Bella. Angry/strong/protective Robward is really HOT! But I still have a lot of reservsations about this movie...but anyways great clip with Robward.

And lastly, Happy birthday Robert!

I call BS. Multiple sites are saying rob and Kristen are vacationing together. Is francis Lawrence just throwing up a smokescreen.

MsTaurus14 said...

Saw the Oprah show, thought it was good, I do wish that they had focused more on them than the fans, but I did like the house to house part that was really cool. Loved it when the mother at one of the houses said "Wow your really hot!"
Loved that Kristen seemed a little more relaxed and some smiling, but as she said she's quite shy. It was interesting about her cat and how attached she is to it. Rob was adorable and so sweet and funny...he's just so damn cute all the way around. Taylor was a good sport to go into that sorority, but I was with Oprah on that, I was a little fearful for him, I wasn't sure if he was going into a lions den for a minute, but it was all good.
And I loved the Eclipse bit they showed with PO'd Edward, that was hot....sigh.
Well, I hope Rob got to celebrate his birthday, even though he had to rehearse, it all comes with the territory of being in the working world no matter what your job is.

I didn't see anywhere in that tweet where Rob's name was mentioned....maybe some taking a leap here today??

Steph is Legit said...

@solas.. no its on the 21st, but i get yelled at everyday so im just predicting this lol

teamprettyman said...

Yeah!!! I love this book hard. I am so crushing on Jacob Jankowski! Rob is going to be perfect.

jmm4832 said...

Shalf, Rob is in preproduction for WFE and the real production starts next week so it's unlikely that he's taking a vacation.

Steph is Legit said...

he could of vacationed last week, but in terms of this week that would be a resounding no.

desi said...

Saw the interview with Reese Witherspoon, talk about totally gushing about being able to work with Rob...(cow...yes that is jealousy talking)...

She's probably happy to be acting with Rob cause of the publicity she'll get and hopefully boost her career more...

rpattzgirl survived Rob! said...

I highly doubt a profound director or any director for that matter, would put up fake tweet to put up a smoke screen...that's just ludicrous...
Filming starts next week, rehearsals would make sense...

nikola6 said...

Talk about calling BULLSHIT!

Why would anyone listen to the chatter of the internet over the director of the film? What? Francis Lawrence is in on the conspiracy too? To quote one Robert Pattinson..."Jesus Christ."

Think about it...
He's suppose to start filming in less than two weeks and because of him being delayed in Europe and with additional work and promotion of Eclipse, he's running out of time to rehearse for this film. Normal pre-production can take up to a month; hair, makeup, wardrobe, etc. Getting the character's 'look.' Then you've got script read throughs (breaking down the character), scenes to block, memorization of dialouge and then the actual rehearsals of scenes. But with this particular production, you've got an added element; animals. And he's running out of precious time to work with them; to get comfortable with them and them comfortable with him.

So of course...
He's going to take an entire day off to celebrate his birthday or better yet, he's going to leave town with his girlfriend on a vacation.

Think people. THINK!!!

And quit paying any attention to the bullshit, the horseshit, the dogshit, the humanshit of the internet.

One more time Rob. They didn't hear you...

"Jesus Christ."

Sorry. But after awhile listening to people bring the 'noise' of the internet here, just makes one want to scream.

Scream over.

Carry on.

nikola6 said...

I too caught the show and was it just me, or did she focus more of the interview on Taylor? I think so and I got a theory 'bout that...

She wanted a particular answer from Rob and Kristen and she didn't get it (and to her credit, she didn't push), but then it seemed to me she then asked more questions of Taylor. Which was A-OK with me.

The more Rob keeps his mouth shut, the more mysterious he is. And the more mysterious he is, the more interesting he remains.

Just my opinion.

Vangie said...

rpattzgirl i thought to myself the tweet said jacob and in WWE has two jacobs as he did not say rob could'nt mean the old jacob just thinking, what do you think

solas said...

Hi Nik! Maybe there is no contradiction; maybe he spent his birthday with Kristen and ALSO rehearsed. Maybe they vacation in his trailer. Or maybe they vacaton before and after rehearsal. or maybe, just as he can supposedly impregnate across continents, he can also vacation and rehearse across continents. We know he has long limbs;-)

By the way, thanks for the remark on my girls--they are the daughters of my older daughter= my grand-daughters. :-)

nikola6 said...

And I apologize to any TWI Moms in the audience here, but I gotta tell ya...

That display in the basement and that spread in the kitchen, was a little over the top for me and made them look silly. I would have much preferred she sat and really talked with these women about their feelings about all of this. They hit on it a bit, but she went for the 'spectacle' of it rather than any depth.

But to be fair to these ladies, I don't have a husband or kids that I've given my life over to (although that always was a part of my life plan). No, my life is still my own and so I just cannot relate to them. I'm not settled into the final relationship of my life and looking back on my first love with longing which is what they said, these books and these characters have brought to the forefront for them. I'm still out there looking for what will hopefully be my last romantic relationship of this life.

But when that one little kid in the backyard said...'my mom loves Edward Cullen more than me', that made me pause. Fan worship is fun, in my opinion, needs to be kept in perspective.

And I'm just spouting my opinions right and left here, arent' I? I am orry. But when people start bringing up the internet with any kind of legitmacy, it get's me all stirred up.

So take a friggin' pill and shut up already.

Okay.

rpattzgirl survived Rob! said...

evangeline,
you're right of course, they're are two Jacobs, but old jacob probably wouldn't be rehearsing with Marlena, August or Rosie...right? That's my take... Robs got a lot of work ahead of him with filming starting soon, like Nik said, there's a ton of prep work before they even close to filming...not to mention all the Eclipse promos Rob has ahead of him...

Nik,
did you get my emails???

And yes, I think Oprah did spend more time on Taylor... Rob was just perfection....

nikola6 said...

I meant to say that I'm 'sorry' not
'orry' although I'm probably that too (ornary is more like it).

And I'm guessing you're funnin' me there Solas as no, he's not running around anywhere right now except back and forth from a studio
and/or a zoo (or wherever the critters are).

And no, a film production doesn't give a damn about birthdays. Doesn't recognize them oneiota. He's working this one and he'll work more throughout his career. But I wouldn't worry 'bout him...

He'll probably have a high ol' time tonight. Although, depending on what time he needs to be back to rehearsals tomorrow (and no, wandering in at 2 in the afternoon because he needed time to recouperate after his birthday shenanigans from the night before, would not be acceptable), I would get take a guess and say that whatever he's doing, he ain't doing it all night.

And those were your grandbabies? Wow! You were a young mama then, weren't you? Because you certainly look like you could be their mother. If I'd been able to have a baby, I would have wanted to do it while I was young too. To be young with my child and then hopefully, young with my grandchildren.

Rob said pretty much the same thing last fall. Imagine if he has a child within the next five years and that child had a child while in it's 20's. Rob could conceiveably be a grandfather before he's fifty. Holy Shit! Can you even imagine Rob as a grandpa? I think he'd be a hoot actually.

Don't get ahead of yourself there Nik ol' girl. Let him get a baby first.

jessegirl said...

But Nik, the spectacle is what TV is all about, and the visual. Unless you're looking at RP and KS for an hour, you'd need more visuals. Therefore, chocolate covered strawberries and their own 'red carpet' and Edward cut-out, etc. It's stuff to look at. Of course I think they should have just stuck with the trinity and left the Twimoms out of it entirely.

What makes me roll my eyes is the shallow level of this show. If you aren't going to find out what really is the draw of Twilight for older women, then leave it alone. If you just show mini red carpets and tee-shirted mothers acting juvenile the public will still not get it and will remain contemptuous.

The general public is too shallow--so producers think--to follow in-depth interviews with Twimoms or anybody else. So they come off looking silly and make any older woman who loves Twilight silly by association.

solas said...

Yes, NIk, I was playing a little. :-) And yes, as I've said before, in my world we have babies when we are 19 or 20, although I know a few who had their first at age 18--and by the way, are still very happily lovingly married(and some keep on going; many women are still having babies when their older ones are having babies.)In my family, we are usually grandparents by age 40. I am still theoretically in family production mode; if I were to meet and marry the right man, I would be overjoyed to be blessed with more children.

I totally hope, that if he has gotten to the point he can wholeheartedly commit himself lifelong to one woman and she to him, that Rob will have children starting within the next few years, and have and enjoy children when he is still young, and I hope he can enjoy grandchildren starting at a young age as well.

Nik - I love your comments and completely agree with your 10:17 comment. That was a little over the top for me too. You said it so great :)

i didn't feel that they stayed on taylor too much, although i would have loved the whole show to have been about rob but i thought everyone got their equal time. i would have left out alot of the fan stuff. I wonder if rob would have wanted the soriety house instead of the families and teens. i also think she left kristen alone because she could tell she isn't comfortable doing interviews.

@Jesse, once again ITA, gotta stop this. There's a whole website for Twilight Moms and not sure they're all over the top like that, but maybe. And definitely would have appreciated more of them (R,K,T) than that nonsense, but it did draw attention to the wider fan base.
@Nik, OK so he's working on his birthday, we all do, but just would have liked him to have a break, but he's back at work. Hopefully this weekend?

solas said...

Thanks Ana--if you saw a photo of my daughter (she might kill me though), you would think she is a teen, same with me when my kids were little- people thought I was the teenaged babysitter. When we get family photos, people think my daughter and my granddaughters are my kids and teh photographer orders them around calling me mom. My daughter is used to it but she growls sometimes!
My relatives that did not smoke or get murdered off lived to well over 100 with full faculties, and always looked much younger; Thanking G-d (and hoping the evil eye keeps away), I think maybe we age more slowly than the general population.(although lately I am feeling like I am aging rapidly!)

jessegirl...
You hit the nail on the head. The silly, no, not silly. Silly is fine. Silly is fun. The IMMATURE behavior displayed there makes all women -of a certain age- who are caught up in all of this, look like idiots to those who just don't 'get it'. C'mon. Walking down a red carpet and posing with a life size cutout of Edward? That was more 'over the top' than the college coed who slept with an Edward blanket AND I'm guessing these women would sleep with such a blanket too if their husbands would permit it. I actually think that men put up with a lot with this thing. Could you imagine women being okay with their husbands if they were responding to say...oh...Megan Fox or Kim Kardashian in the way that they do to Rob? Yeah. Right. The thing is, I really do think there is a story here.

Not an immature one, but an important one. A story about women and what it truly is that has touched them about this story, the character of Edward Cullen, the actor portraying him, Robert Pattinson and the legitimate feelings that have ensued. And if told right, with humour and heart and some introspection, it might help those who don't 'get it' to 'get it'. Hmmm...This has just hit me. This story really does need to be told. And it needs to be told by someone who understands and more importantly, RESPECTS what is happening here. Hmmm...thinking.

And evangaline honey...
The sooner you stop reading all of this crap on the internet, the happier your experience will be in this fandom. So often I hear in your comments that you're sad about something you've read. Please don't read it. Most of it is motivated by jealousy and spite and almost all of it, is MISINFORMED information. The reason this blog is so credible, is because the ladies who run it are not misinformed (and in the very rare instances that they are, they find out the truth and correct it PRONTO) and they are not motivated by jealousy and spite. There a few other sites out there that I've read; 'Letters To Rob' and 'TWItarted', but I only glance at them because they are fall down on the floor funny who laugh at themselves as much as they do Rob (and oh my lordy, if he isn't a target. what a noodlehead. lol) But as soon as you can break the habit of looking at them...do it. I promise you, you will not be missing anything by avoiding them. You want as much of the truth about Rob as you can get? Then stay here at home. Not trying to tell you what to do, just want that sadness in your posts to go away.

Ana...
Thank you. And it's not that I felt she ignored Rob and Kristen in favor of Taylor. Not at all. It wasn't that lopsided in terms of where her attention was, but rather, it was what she talking to each of them about. She seemed to go a little deeper with Taylor. Once Rob and Kristen opted not to answer THE question, but rather joked it off (funny answer there kiddies and in your way, you did answer it...you always do) and I do believe that was the 'get' she wanted, and when she didn't get it, her questioning of them seemed to become more superficial to me. I mean, she didn't ask Rob and Kristen what they were looking for in a potential romantic partner. She even got more in depth with Dakota about her friendship with Kristen. I just think that she knew they weren't going to give anything up and so...she didn't go any deeper with the two of them.

And I think there's a few more here I want to respond to, but...I think the length of this post has just passed 'loopyville' and is headed straight for 'stark raving bonkers town.'

Well. If you guys wouldn't make interesting comments, then I wouldn't have anything to say.

See. This madness of mine is all YOUR fault.

nikola6 said...

What a lovely gift. Giving a book is such a personal thing. Meaning, you're giving a piece of yourself to someone (if you feel about books the way that I do and I'm guessing Rob feels pretty strong about them too). And knowing how Oprah feels about reading, I'm going to bet she was quite touched by the gesture.

In her magazine, she sometimes has a section where she'll ask a famous person something like...which five books changed your life? Something like that. If she really was impressed with Rob and if she thought his choice of book was interesting, she just might ask him that question for her magazine one day. And god, wouldn't I love to know the answer to that question. I know he loves the work of Martin Amis (me too. he's one of my very favorite authors). But I'd really love to know which books mean the most to him. Or has he already answered this question? You'd think I'd remember if he had, but who the hell can keep up?

And no RPG...
I haven't gotten to my e-mail yet. But I will before bed.

And Solas...
Being raised a Mormon (who was born a Catholic and has been known to dabble in Buddisim and I think Wiccan is interesting too, but I've yet to dabble there), I too came from a culture in which the women marry young and start having children...lots of children.

My niece Katelyn who will be 22 in July is getting married in August and when she does, she will be the last girl in her H.S. graduating class to marry. Such a rebel. LOL! And me? I never married. So I am seen as either a freak of nature of the daughter of the devil himself. It's why I had to get out of Utah once I became of legal age (and left the church). The pressure to 'conform' is OVERWHELMING. And I just couldn't.

OK, I deleted it and I'll tell ya the truth. I believe Mormonism is right up there with Scientology. That should tell you something. And I refuse to believe that my people had anything to do with it. I know Steph is Mormon, but I never said I liked her as a person. I liked her books (LIKED) that's all. Ppl calling her God and what-not is creepy, and reminds me of a cult. That being said; from the few Mormons I have seen here, there is no way I could see that faith any other way. From women wanting to be Robert's Mommy to women obsessed with dog shyte, yeah....

nikola6 said...

I just thought of something...

Remember how he said in 'Details' that playing with that elephant was one of the best days of his life? Well. If he spend the day playing with Rosie, then I'd have to say, this was probably one of the best birthdays of his life. And then he got to go home to his girl. I don't think anyone should be feeling bad for him in anyway today.

And didn't Frances say they were working under the big top today? Hmmm...I'm still wondering if they're going to film those scenes in the Downey studio. As I've said before (somewhere around here), that studio boasts the largest indoor soundstage in the world. In the world! And what better place to film the inside of a circus big top? I mean, you gotta have enough room in one large space to hold the audience, all the performers, including the capacity to set up a flying trapeze AND all of those animals including, a team of horses and...AN ELEPHANT!!!

And if so, that studio is about...I dunno...15 minutes or so from where I live. Wow! After him being so far away for so long, today he could very well have been just a few minutes down the road from where I live. Oh...

But if he was there today, he probably got caught in that horrific traffic jam that closed down the 405 today in both directions (the freeway he would have taken if he was coming from the valley and I'm guessing he was as he probably hasn't moved into studio provided housing yet). And I can testify that jam was a doozy 'cause I got caught in it (took me over two hours to get from Huntington Beach to Long Beach. Normally, a 15 minute jaunt). Apparently, the cops were chasing a bank robber. Yup. Life is never dull on a Los Angeles freeway. It is often, a living hell. But never...dull.

And with that, I think I'm gonna go check out some other threads as I've been yapping here all night.

Cheeky Chops said...

@Kember

I'm not mormom. My mom's catholic and my dad's protestant and I have Orthodox Christians in my family as well. Maybe it is because I live in NYC so im exposed to different walks of life or people, but i sort of learned a tolerance for religion that i didnt have a few years back. I can't really judge a religion. To me scientology sounds like a crop of crazy sh*t, but look at how the world views the roman catholic church. last time i checked the pope is trying to cover up molestations scandals by forgiving artists who live questionable lives. Every religion has it faults. If you really think about it. Catholicism sounds nuts. follows drink the blood of christ and eat the body. How morbid is that? why is that normal and not mormonism? I don;t know anything about scientology. Until someone tells me what its really about I think its unfair of me to really judge it.

just trying to shed some light. I believe in a higher power, but as a said once before on tis site I dont believe in organized religion.

Well, it took me a while to type out that comment. It's hard for me to go deep, very hard. Oh silly things (even sex) that's easy, and not really important. But things like this, are extremely sacred to me. It's not that I'm a very private person (actually I am sort of) but I have built myself a mental wall. I keep my deepest thought to myself. It's almost physical. Mix that with not talking much period, now maybe you see why my comments are the way they are. And sometimes, yes, full of shyte. LOL. I'm not going to sit around and say all Mormons are bad people. No. But, I would really not like too talk about it anymore. Sorry.

I have to work, when my birthday. I then just go celebrate in the evening. I think that Rob will also do so. In the movie business, there are often no Sunday or holiday. When the shooting schedule runs it does not matter whether someone's birthday. The show must go. Actor and the team behind the camera are posted. Mnchmal too expensive headlight or other technological devices have booked the cost thousands of dollars a day. It's been a big problem if someone gets sick really should not happen. It is always a huge pressure behind it.

The thing with the Twilight moms has been very embarrassing. Hard to believe. This is so stupid that hurts. Helloooo comes back to you. How embarrassing it must be for the actors.

But first to evangaline...
Well. You're welcome sweetie. If anything I say here can help you in anyway, then I am overwhelmed. They say to break one habit, you must replace it with another and that it takes 21 days to form one (a habit, that is). So...maybe you could try to find some other blogs about Rob to read instead of the ones you've been visiting. The ones I mentioned, 'Letters To Rob' and 'TWItarted?' They are very funny. Very entertaining AND a little naughty BUT they are not mean spirited. Yes, they do poke fun at Rob (mock him to high heaven in fact), but they love him too. They're just having fun with him. But try to stay away from those gossips sites like Lainey and Ted C. as the posters there are miserable, wretched creatures. Okay?

Okay. Mormonisim...
And I suppose this would most definitely fall under the catagory of OT. And I'll just give you a thumb sketch which ain't gonna be easy 'cause when you yap as much as I do, thumb sketches are hard AND it is quite a vast philosophy. So...yanno. I'm not gonna do it here. It just doesn't feel right. And frankly, I'm just to beat to go into it all right now. Sometime this weekend, I'll go and post on my little blog on my profile here. And I'll also explain how Meyer's beliefs have made their way into this story and why. So Steph, if you really want to know (and though I haven't practiced for years, I KNOW my Mormon philosophy), I'll tell you. Just check my profile by weekend's end. And yes, it is a very interesting philosophy. Different from any other Christian religion in the world.

Yanno. I've always wanted to ask Rob...

'Rob darlin', are you aware that you are playing the world's first Mormon vampire in history?' LOL! Well. Maybe that's a bit of a stretch. But not by much. Especially the 'eternal' aspect of Edward and Bella's love story. It very much mirrors Mormon belief about marriage. And I'm guessing as well read and curious as he is and with his association with Meyer, yeah, he understands the 'Mormon' undertones in this story.

Oh. And just fyi...
There most DEFINITELY is a connection to Mormon history and the native people of America. And it is such an audacious premise that the Book Of Mormon puts forth. Wait till you hear it.

This weekend. I'm not planning on taking off, so...I should be able to get to it.

And NOW, I'm gonna go try to peek in at some other threads.

I love Rob on Oprah, he was great and spontaneous and made me laugh!

I think Oprah gave each individual equal attention, the best part of the show is Rob, he lights up the atmosphere, he is the sunshine....

He looks great even after a flight when he goes straight to the fans houses....

Love Dakota, she is gorgeous and grounded. I definitely approve Rob with her when she is over 17!

Sorry but Kristen has to much issues within herself, if she loves someone than she shd be proud and respect him.....

Why critised the Twi Moms, they love Rob as Edward as much as we love Rob.....they don't hide behind computers, if I have friends that love Rob as I do I will do the same.....

The Twi Moms are like any other fans who has poster or merchandise of their idols, its normal.....its their guilty pleasure.......

jimmyzpieperOprah's questions were boring ( I'm sorry as she is as well now) and didn't really provide any type of atmosphere to develop... It would have been better to have people in the audience to participate as well.... Rob and Taylor were open and great as usual... but poor Kristen... she has changed so much since the first twilight press tour...less confident, childlike, and actually sorry to say... a personality like a druggy... paranoid, disconnected, and yet Oprah kept saying how shy she is... it's more like guarded....... which actually fits as Rob said in his previous interviews she has a fierceness about her...and she has a potty mouth ( as flaunt magazine reported and Dir Chris Weitz said...which can also act as a guard.... sad, as she is so pretty and really talented.... but comes off as a valley chick from L. Nik: that should be an interesting read. I do think that Edward is very linked to the archangel Michael, tho he's got hints of both avenging angel and savior in him. SM constantly has Bella refer to him as her guardian angel...

Given how much ink that convo is going to take, perhaps it would be best saved for your blog? Give us the link!

Frankly I am enlightened by the religious talk here , I am foriegn to regular religions comming from a entirely diffrent faith, and shares the same beliefs as like chasteness(?) before marriage.I thought the TWIMOMS feature in Oprah did not fullfill its purpose , the Question was how did the story appeal to women of latter generations(Oprah kept hinting that it is safe to have an obsession which does not disrupt the basic family stucture etc) , but the Soirees, the display of red carpet cheapened the experience, the daughter complaining the her mother loves Edward cullen more then her !!!!what is wrong with those women?
There are so many shades of love , one cannot be better then the other , every love has its own place in ones life , they can not be replaced or compared , all are essential for existence.
looking forward for the WTF movie, may be even more then Eclipse(SORRY) it will be a fresh experience, like Rememeber me, to see RP in different routine .

I caught the late repeat of Oprah last night and here's a few more observations.

Rob's wonky turned in feet. I think it's a sign of shyness but Solas says hip displacement. Hope not. All I know is that him sitting there, arguably the biggest star in the world, with his feet turned in, is so damn adorable. But then, name me one damn thing about the man that isn't. That giggle of his is to die for.

Some being put off because Rob walked out ahead of Kristen, thinking it rude or ungentlemanly of him. I didn't take it that way at all. It looked to me like he simply took the lead and Taylor took the rear like they were 'flanking' her in a protective sort of way. We know how she struggles with all of this. Whereas Rob with his more
sociable personality, is able to bury his shyness better and adjust. Maybe I'm blind, but I just didn't see rudeness on his part. He adores that girl and it's
so obvious.

I think Kristen may have made a little 'slip.' When Rob said she was pregnant and she said he was going to carry the baby. Just before she said that, she said..."we've discussed this." Did anyone catch that? They've discussed her having a baby? Now that doesn't mean they were discussing her having their baby. Probably means nothing, but it did sound like a little 'slip.' Or maybe they set this 'answer' up before hand, knowing that Oprah was going to ask. Which reminds me. I wonder if anyone from Summit dared to tell Oprah...'do not ask THE question.' Obviously not. Or being Oprah, she ignored the request. My guess is, she wasn't told not to because Rob and Kristen did not look put off by it. I think they were expecting it.

But I was put off that she made note of the fact that Taylor is so 'clean living' with no smoking or drinking when it is famously known that Rob does both. Then adding that must be because he comes from a good family. Implying that if you do indulge, you don't? Maybe I'm just being a bit too sensitive here, but there was something about it that rubbed me the wrong way. Why even bring something like that up, when you know that the other one does?. And with her crack research staff, believe me, she knows that Rob and Kristen smoke and (in Rob's case), drinks. I just found it odd.

And with that, those were my observations on my second and last go round. And yes, my observations the first time were correct. Once Rob and Kristen deflected THE question, she did concentrate more on Taylor and didn't go deep with Rob and Kristen's relationship (on any level, friendship...anything) again.

To be honest, I really don't think Oprah is all that interested in theses books or movies. You notice she never said that she's read them and I think if she had, she would have mentioned it. She would have focused equally on both the books and the films. Although maybe she has read them and just didn't care for them. Don't you think that if Oprah liked these books, she would have used her show before now to talk about the 'phenomenon' rather than waiting two years after the last book was published and a year and a half after the films exploded? (and yes, she had Meyer on before, but I felt that was more about Meyer's extrodinary publishing success, than it was about this actual story). I just don't think that fantasy genre is Oprah's cup of tea which makes what she did all the more meaningful. Even the great Oprah Winfrey has finally had to awknowleged the power of Twilight. The only holdout now is Craig Ferguson. He has yet to have a single actor from this franchise on his show. He's stated more than once, he doesn't care for pretty, sparkly vampires and blames Twilight for ruining the genre. HIs show. His opinion. And I'm still crazy mad for him.

And I know this isn't the Oprah thread, but I've yet to get over there. Sorry.

@Nik, Kristen absolutely says "we've actually had this conver..." points to him, then went to explanation of her skinny little frame having a baby (I'm actually thinking she might have some phobic fear re. giving birth, I just thought of that, hmm.) I've watch that segment several times, when the big question is asked, and yup, have to agree they answered it all right, albeit in a very obtuse way.
I totally agree about O's question to Taylor about smoking and drinking. Not good, since we all know the others' habits and how that "good family" comment must have cut. That may have been the low point of the whole interview. I was frankly embarrassed for Rob and Kristen.
Any news on Rob's birthday celebration, if, when, where, postponed??

AP, I guess I don't really get the meaning of "sloppy seconds" cause I thought it was funny. Kristen, however thought it was gross, SOooo I can only imagine???

Steph is Legit said...

@Nik

Never cared for Oprah. I thought the interview was a bland and she didn't ask anything meaningful. I sort of felt like she made a mockery of the fandom and made us the world perceive us as screaming lunatics. As far as R&K not addressing 'THE QUESTION', I personally feel that there are contract stipulation to what can be said, but that is just me.

I also feel like the denial is getting pretty old and it sort of hurts me to see how she paraded MA around so proudly and then keeps Rob on a short leash. At first I admired the fact that they didn;t say anything and now I find myself getting annoyed at it. I know people want to argue that the whole MA thing blew up in her face, but I don't see how. People break up..it happens. People fall in and out of love and sometimes are painted in a bad light because of it, but I mean if she is going to argue over people wanting the specifics if she spouts off about her relationship..well news-flash..people already do even without the confirmation. To me its all very backhanded.

I did not feel like Oprah intentionally patronized Kristen. It doesn't mean she didn't because I think she did. I just don't think it was an intentional thing. I feel bad that Kristen is forced into doing interviews, but one thing I noticed is that she is very relaxed in interviews where she doesn't have to talk about twilight and can focus on a diff project. I just think she is paranoid over interviewers asking questions that will blindside her or having to focus on saying the wrong thing (regarding her relationships.. she has to craftily orchestrate her responses). Oprah is also a good interviewer in terms of 'continuing on' she did not get what she wanted out of Rob & Kris and so to make the show flow she jumped right into another question to sort of mull over the rejection. She may not ask solid questions, but she isn't a journo..she is a talk show host.

I still love Ellen best. I think they talk about nothing of vital importance, but Rob always seems to be pleased to be there. I think Ellen could ease Kristen a little too. I don;t know if K was ever on Ellen or not, but I feel like Ellen is a pretty easy going person and fun to be around. Oprah is entirely too intimidating. Also Oprah has the power to own Summit's a** 100x over with the amount of money she has. I don;t think she fears Summit or their stipulations in any way , shape or form.

Yes. I've decided to write about Mormonism on my profile blog and since I don't know how to put up a link (don't laugh), when I finish it, I'll just tell whoever's interested to just go to my profile.

And I'd like to address this idea about Kristen being a druggy...

We saw one, ONE PIC of her (nearly a year and a half ago) with a pipe in her hand and from that one image, the opinion has been formed by some, that she is a drug addict (I've had a joint
and/or a bong in my hands several times througout my life and I am not a drug addict. Alot of drinkers are not alcoholics and alot of pot users are not drug addicts).

But let me ask some of you this...
How many pics (over SEVERAL YEARS) have we seen of Rob looking drunk off his ass and yet, has anyone ever dared mention the word alcoholic and Rob in the same sentence around here? No. And why is that? (and with a name like PATtinson, that boy's Irish and drinking is in their blood. I know. My blood is Irish too). And as long as I'm getting this off of my chest. With his genetic heritage and his penchant for the drink, if he continues at his current pace -didn't Catharine Hardwicke say that he was drunk EVERY night while filming Twilight?- if he doesn't get a handle on it at some point, he could absolutely be staring alcoholism down the barrel one day. Frankly, I think he drinks in part in order to be able to interact socially and if that's true, then he may already have a problem because then his drinking wouldn't be a want, it would be a NEED! And when wants become needs, you've got a problem (and speaking of using shit to get through stuff...who's the one who swallowed the valium to get through the Twilight audition?)

I'm just sick of her getting bashed and him getting cut the slack for basically, the same behavior. And I think it's because as I said on another thread (a few days back), women criticize women more than they do men. We are our own worst enemies. I'll repeat a little of what I said there...

Kristen is criticized for the way she dresses, her hair, her facial expressions (why isn't she smiling more), her social awkwardness; very PERSONAL criticisims. Yet Rob...

Can dress like a dumpster bum and what do we call him? Hobolicious. And when his hair looks like it hasn't seen a comb for a week, what do we call it? Sex hair. And Rob can walk around wonky legged, acting socially awkward, putting his foot in his mouth and what do we call it? Adorable and endearing.

What is that internet expression?

I call bullshit?

When women desire a man, they'll exuse damn near anything. But they'll rip another woman to pieces
for any little thing. And that's because women are jealous of one another and in competition with each other.

And men think were idiots because of it. And they're right. Women are idiots because of this behavior and as long as we continue on with it, men will never respect us in the way in which we desire to be AND they'll see us as their equals.

God. This double standard really steams me. Sexually, men impose one on us. But this one? We do it to ourselves.

And I hate the way the word 'rant' is used on the internet. If you type more than two paragraphs, you're having a rant. And to rant is to express anger. When I'm talking around here, I'm not ranting, I'm talking. But in this instance...yup. This is a rant. Because the unfounded PERSONAL criticism of this girl, just pisses me off. Come up with a legitimate critcisim of her, and I might agree with you. But hair, clothes, her personality not meeting YOUR standards? That is so junior high. So petty and so jealous female.

For fortunately, my anger fades quickly. Having gotten this off of my chest, I feel better already.

solas said...

Nik--I thought the same thing when Oprah commented about Taylor's family with his not smoking and drnking-- what disrespect to Rob's family!

AP said...

@Rob's Bitch: Understand your concern but I think they are being very careful about choice of animals, and the whole premise of the book and film is primarily against abuse of both people and animals. The two are equated. However, it won't be easy to watch some scenes...you are right.

Steph is Legit said...

kristen isn't a druggy. I'm not going to say that everyone smokes weed because it's not true, but in my eyes it isnt a big deal. If she were doing lines of coke then I'd say maybe she has a little problem. Perhaps I can relate to her because I'm a little older than her, but still around her age. I'm not saying I have a drug problem, but I have smoked before. I didn't drive or do anything stupid or reckless. I didn't do it regularly either and haven't done it for yrs since I have a corporate job. I just think people need to relax when calling her a druggie. People have no idea wtf a druggie really looks like and by calling her a druggie people are making themselves look ignorant to the real problems REAL addicts face. Kristen isn't an addict and people should drop it. The girl likes weed. so what?

Fact: Getting drunk actually kills more brain cells than smoking a joint.

As for the criticism of Rob. I don;t like it, but I agree. I have said before how I don;t think he is an angel, but we all know how people take criticism on this website so I kept my mouth shut.

I will also say this again. I don't comment on K's looks, or clothes. I don't really give a damn. I have an opinion, but it's irrelevant to how I perceive her. I will comment on her personality and acting because these are things that I will always comment on time and time again

Hi Nik
I think the crap written about Kristen on the internet is in the same category as the crap written about her in the tabloids. Why give internet crap more credence than tabloid crap? It's all crap. You can just ignore it. I'll bet she does.

Re the Question on Oprah: I think they were expecting it, she knew they were expecting it, they knew she knew etc. The baby answer is surely an extension of the Edward/Bella/Breaking Dawn motif. They've used it before, its an easy, entertaining, amusing way to deflect the question. I didn't take it at face value at all.

Like Steph is Legit I "never cared for" the Oprah show, to put it diplomatically, but I gritted my teeth and watched. Way too much screaming and tasteless extraneous stuff for me :-)

nikola6 said...

okay lalli...

I'll tell you what it means.

Sloppy seconds refers to 'having' a woman right after another man has had her. Women hate the expression almost as much as they hate the 'C' word. But while a man doesn't mention the 'C' word in a woman's presence (not if he wants to go on living, he doesn't. that word doesn't bother me though. it's just a word. a very crude one. but then, so is...fuck), but a man will use the 'sloppy seconds' phrase more casually. Although...I watched that interview twice and where did he say that? And in what context? I'm really rather curious about that?

And Steph...
In regards to Rob and Kristen's relationship and Summit's involvement. I've written extensively about this (one late night about a month ago? I wrote sheets and sheets about it which apparently not too many saw as there was very little discussion that ensued and I was expecting alot). And I'm not gonna do it all again. But suffice to say...

Rob and Kristen cannot 'parade' this relationship around even if they wanted to and they don't want to and they don't have to just to satisfy the desires of strangers. Summit wants this relationship 'quiet' until after this franchise has been put to bed. They fear the impact at the box office if something went wrong with a 'real life' Edward and Bella. And with the lines of reality and fantasy so BLURRED in this fandom, who could blame them?

Trust me on this one. It's the truth. And they do answer the question. Everytime they're asked. They just answer it with discretion. But you've got to really listen hard to hear discretion. And I know that's not easy when our ears have been attuned to the great, big white NOISE of celebrity.

Another thing-- how do you appear to resepct someone's shyness and then ask a question-- a personal, intrusive and intrinsically rude question, since Oprah knew darn well was put off and shut up for a long time now? It makes Oprah look to me to be a big fake--all that hugging, and soft psych talk about recognizing Kristen's shyness--just fake, false. If you know anythng about me and my postings, you know I try to give the benefit of the doubt, to look for an alternative view that is not negative. But i have thought about this and reviewed it from various angles, and now I find her to be disrespectful and offensive re Rob's parents, and just a big fake re hugs, supposed understanding and respect. No rant Nik , continue with your uber responses

nikola6 said...

Okay. Little rant over. Although I left out a word. I said 'they'll see us as equals' when what I meant was...'they'll NEVER see us as equals.' (I figured you figured that out, but we anal retentive types have to cross every t and dot every i).

And yeah, best not to respond to the crap. But jesus, after awhile it just gets old. Doesn't it? I want to clarify something. Like everyone else around here, I cut Rob slack all day long. But I cut it for Kristen too. For god's sake. In many ways they're still just kids and they've got a lot of growing up to do. And while most of us got to do our growing up in obscurity, they get to finish their's with the whole goddamn world sitting in judgement of them. Lucky them.

And please? Would someone please tell me where and in what context Rob used the phrase, 'sloppy seconds.' I watched the show twice and I didn't catch that.

And I see I'm not the only one who caught the 'good family' comment and yeah, that's what it was Solas. It was so disrectful to Rob's and Kristen's families. I am this close to sending her an e-mail about it. Maybe a few of us should. She does pay attention to that e-mail. Although if more than a few of us caught it, then others have too and I'm sure she's hearing about it.

As for the critters...
My best friend is the same way. I've told her the story of the book because she cannot read it because it involves animal cruelty and she will not see this film. Even though I've explained that Jacob saves the animals. She just can't 'look.' Remember the opening sequence of Twilight when the deer is being chased and caught? I had to tell her 'when' so she could open her eyes after that part was over.

I think she's a little excessive here because sometimes in life, you've got to face down the misery, walk right up to it and look it head on, in order to defeat it. But she simply cannot where animals are concerned. She cannot even watch animal rescue shows. She cannot watch the joy of them being saved because she cannot watch the cruelty of what they went through in the first place.

Like I said, a little excessive for me, but I do understand.

captain said...

Hey Nik
Regarding 'sloppy seconds', Rob said this when they were discusing Twilight audition and when Kristen had done the kissing scenes with a bunch of other guys before Rob. Now I understand her disgusted reaction. Wow Nik how do you know about how all these things mean?

nikola6 said...

Sorry AP. Didn't mean to step on your toes there. I thought you were just leaving it and that lalli wanted to know. I'm really sorry.

And again, would someone please tell me where and in what context he used this expression? I'm gonna guess he was joking and we all know about Rob's quirky sense of humour; alergies and 12 year old virgins licking his hair. God. He is a crackup. But I am surprised at something...

I am surprised that he appeals so strongly to those around here who obviously have a more conservative bent as he doesn't live a very conservative life and I've wondered how some reconcile that; his personal standards veering so sharply form conservative ones. If I don't 'get' someone one on a personal level, I may still like them, but I don't really liiiiiike
them. And that's 'cause I don't really 'get' them and I figure they're not gonna 'get' me, so what's the point of going deeper? I mean, when Rob says or does something that offends conservative sensibilities, how does one who has those sensibilities, explain or justify that away? Or are his other qualities strong enough that they balance out the few things about him that might cause some to raise an eyebrow?

I'm not criticising anyone here. I'm truly curious about this.

Just curious.

you don't rank. i'd rather hear your comment than "OmGzZz he's soooo hott!" while i agree lol (i think we all do). I value discussion and thoughtful responses more. I can't say I will always agree with you (today I do) , but I value your responses as well as Solas and a few others. Yours (as well as others) thoughts intrigue me.

While we know which side of the robsten fence i am on lol. I still think I try to judge fairly and I will defend Kristen when I feel that others are out of line even if i dont particularly care for the girl. I also like when people call me out on my BS or hypocrisy because sometimes I don't even realize when i contradict myself.

Don't let anyone tell you that you rant. They don't have to read it the same way I dont have to agree with what everyone says. It's an opinion and it should be stated as long as you conduct yourself in a respectful manner (which you have). I like people who like R&K together as well as people who dont care, who dont like them at all and people who believe they are just friends. As long as people get their points across without being too rude then I am A-Okay with them. It's certain people on here who berate me for my feelings that I dont like as so far i dont think they participated in this discussion yet.

Oh thanks captain...

Finally, someone answered my question.

And yeah, of course he was kidding. And even the fact that he make such a joke at her expense, indicates that they are sexual mates. LOL!

And how to I know what? What things mean? Is that what you asked captain? Well. I don't know that I do. Like everyone else, I just express opinions. Although I've been told I have a mind like a steel trap. I was told that when I was young and I didn't know what it meant and I thought it was an insult. I learned later that it was not. I don't know. I guess I just have the ability to hold vasts amounts of useless information in my head, read other opinions, form my own and then express them. And just because they're my opinions, don't make them right. I guess what it all comes down to is...I am VERY well read on alot of subjects. You want to know what things mean? Stop watching tv and READ!!! (not you personally as I don't know what your habit are). I mean people in general. We are dumbing down so fast in this culture. It's coming in increments of weekly as oppose to yearly or even every decade.

BTW--I am thinking of signing up for the mtv person and I think you ought to, too, NIk. I agree with the dumbing down bit. Much of what's on tv these days is just... ugh. What really bothers me is some of the kid shows that are on Disney channel. Shows like hannah montana and the like have got kids eating out of their hands. To me that's really the scary part.

Speaking of reading, I'm trying to do more of it. I see what you mean, it can be very mind-opening.

I always enjoy your writting as many on this blog do. It's got a really cool 'tone' to it. I can see that you really put your heart and soul into what you write. I think it's your sense of humor that keep things fun and light even when you're saying something really deep.

And speaking of writing. Oh if only his gorgeousness would sit down and write something one of these days. That would be my fantasy, is to read something by him.

I haven't even looked at the videos of the show posted here. In fact, since yesterday, I haven't gotten off of this thread. I don't think I've even gone to peak at any of the others. I feel like I'm caught in an episode of the Twilight Zone. I can't get off this thread. LOL! But thanks for the info. I think I will go take another look at that 'moment.'

And thanks Steph...
Yeah. I know that most people on the internet express themselves in one to two sentences and there's nothing wrong with that. But for some, that just isn't enough. They've got more thoughts in their head that they want to get said. And nothing wrong with that either. And if you think about it, if that is how internet communication was suppose to be, then we'd be limited (like in twaddle) in character space.

But I do feel that because of the way that alot respond to a longer post, that it makes people reticent to truly express themselves. They hold back 'cause they don't want to get slammed (I'm very self conscious about my long posts and wait everytime for someone to hollar back at me...'will you shut the hell up.') And that's sad. I think we should say what we want to say (as long as were not hurting anybody) and for those who don't want to read it...don't. But they do and human nature being what it is...they just gotta 'getcha' for it.

But then as I've said before...if you're gonna lay your head down on that chopping block, you gotta expect that someone is gonna pick up that axe and take a swing. And from experience, it only hurts for for a bit. But the truth is, you cannot truly be hurt by someone who doesn't know you. Not really.

Okay. Time to post this one and then go back through it looking for all the mistakes I made and putting up another post with the corrections. I know. Why not just check it now? Cause that would make sense. And I try as often as possible to make as little sense as possible. Where the hell is the fun in making sense?

I say pish.

Good AP. I'm glad were okay. And yeah...he does run off at the mouth, don't he? But that's what makes him so funny. The funniest things that come out his mouth are when he's saying something off the cuff and usually a bit naughty. I hope he never stops. The day he stops putting his foot in his mouth is the day he starts losing some his charm.

And Solas? What?

An MTV person? What is that? There are no persons at MTV. No 'human' ones at least. I really don't know what this is. As for Rob remembering me...

Oh. I don't think so. That day was nearly two years ago and I can't even imagine how many people he's met in that time and all of the crowds and blurred faces. Just on Oprah's show. Do you think he could remember the faces of those four TWI moms who stood up OR that darling little girl who came to the stage to meet Kristen (and why hasn't anyone mentioned that lovely gesture of her's with that ring? If Rob had done it? Oh.My.God. There would have been 500 responses about it. You guys know it's true whether you'll admit or not) OR do you think he could even remember the faces of some of those whose homes he was in? And this was just a week ago? Nah. He wouldn't remember me if I went around a corner, bashed into him, knocked him flat and while lying on top of him said...'hey remember me from Comic Con...TWO YEARS AGO???

(actually. he'd probably say yes just to get me the hell off of him. lol)

Interesting you should bring up the point about liking Rob even when he may do or say something that you don't like.

This happened to me and it was the oddest feeling. It's not quite what you were talking about but in some interview he was asked if there was a main character from a piece of literature that he would like to play. And he mentioned Howard Roark from The Fountainhead and John Self from Money by Martin Amis. There may have been another one but I can't remember what it was. I dislike Ayn Rand's books immensely and while I like Martin Amis I also hate his novels. Both of these choices have a similar philosophical bent to them that are the very opposite of mine. I was so surprised. I thought, "Rob likes books I absolutely can't stand!! There's probably loads of things I don't agree with him on. Deep things, personal things." But you said it yourself, his other qualities are so strong that they do balance out any of these negative factors. I think he's just an extremely fascinating and unusual (at least for the industry he's in)person.

CB works fine.

Rob's not perfect. He may be ethereal and perfect looking, but his personality is flawed. so is mine and so are all of yours. No one is perfect. We all take the good with the bad. I am actually shocked we are able to talk about how imperfect he is without major backlash. Just because he isn't perfect doesn't mean we dont love him. Every person has faults or does something that makes u want to get physically violent. I'm convinced he is conceited, but I don't let that tarnish my image of him. He is, but it doesn't mean he isn't a good person. I just think he acknowledges that he is a good looking person lol

It might be fun to engage in a little Rob bashing actually, just for balance. Conceited...I'll go along with that. Likes Ayn Rand. That's two.

You can love people who have different tastes from yourself. I love Thomas Hardy and George Elliot novels, among others. My daughter read two and said--blehhh. My son tried one and said-- Don't ever even SHOW me that garbage ever again! i guess they didn't like them. ;-) However, I had them read Atlas Shrugged when they were 15 as that was when I first read it, and my son loved it and my daughter could not take the length. yet she will read any length of Stephen King, and I cannot stand him or his books. But she likes Harry Potter books as I do and my son is not into them. You can like and love people even if they like different stuff. BTW--You CAN appreciate Ayn Rand's novels even if you don't agree with her philosophies.
And as for liking Rob himself even if he does stuff that I don't like-- my own kids can be way more obnoxious than how I see himself as behaving even on his worst day, and I still love them. :-)
As for conservative--I am very conservative in some things, but radical in others, so don't assuem becasue someone is conservative in some statements, she cannot take or tolerate or accept in others nonconservative behaviour. 0:-) My main aggravations with Rob and his behaviour, as I have said before, are the smoking and the drinking. Obnoxious is one thing; self-destructive is another. Doesn't make me not like or admire himself on the whole, or his work; makes me want to throttle him!

sarsaparilla said...

Mannner of talking in statements that are shocking (paradoxical)is to deflect attention from the original argument , many people have this habit , method of protecting their sensitivities , statements like allergies to female parts, etc could be Brtish trait.

Steph is Legit said...

love Amis, but most of rob's book choices aren't for me. I pretty much stick to anything written after 1970. The only writer I like pre 1970 is Katherine Mansfield.

solas said...

CB_-it might be interesting to ask ROb WHY he likes Howard Roarke.

I don't think Rob is conceited-- he said from the beginning he cannot figure out the looks thing and finds it amusing that he is suddenly considered beautiful; he asked his friends what was different--his hair was the same, etc, and people had so recently been calling him ugly! (Look at the comments from when he was cast as Edward! Even now, I see some comments about him being so ugly!))He didn't even want to try out for the Edward part because of the way Edward was described. I think his blaming it all on Edward character is very telling. If he really thought he was beautiful he would not say it was all about Edward.

Steph is Legit said...

I don't see this as bashing. It's constructive criticism for him if he ever reads this. He is a little cocky, conceited, and maybe a bit narcissistic. You can see this the way he accentuates his cheek bones in pics (he sucks in his cheeks a bit), he pouts A LOT and no he doesnt just look like that, he always makes comments regarding his looks. Kristen even says he spends a lot of time in front of the mirror. I just find it all the more hilarious lol. It is so humanizing. I'm not going to say it's endearing because its not, but its does make him very human to be conscious of how he looks and how he feels about how he looks.

Steph is Legit said...

he isn't obvious about it like Cristiano Ronaldo. You know he know he looks good and likes to let everyone know he knows he looks good too lol. Rob isn't like that. He is a bit conceited, but not enough to make you gag..not even close.

nikola6 said...

Oh and thank you captain. What you just said there, that was really nice. I appreciate that. But truthfully? I don't really put that much thought into what I write. I mean, while my thoughts and opinions are certainly important to me, I don't sit and think much about what I'm going to say until I start typing. My thoughts just start flowing and my fingers start flying. That's why I've always thought if I could slow my brain down and really think about what it is I want to say and not just type off the top of my head, I might actually be able to say something worthwhile. I don't know. But thank you.

And CB...

The thing about actors is...they are attracted to characters that, while they might not necessarily like them, they are fascinated by them. Rob doesn't have to like the character to want to play him.

And I have read both of those books and Rob would be amazing in either role. His fans might not like seeing him play flawed characters, but I can guarantee you, those are the types of characters that he is going to seek out during his career. And when he does, I suspect that those who only want to see him as the romantic hero, will step back from him.

I personally hope that Money is one of the stories he's working on when the time comes to build his own production company and make his own films. If he did take on the role of John Self, I wonder if he'd transform himself too? Gain the weight? Do everything he can to bury that beauty? Yeah. I think you're gonna see him attempt that too throughout his career. And again, for those who only want to see him looking beautiful on screen? They're going to be disappointed in some of his film choices. I mean, he's already done it. Daniel (BMH) and Art (HTB) were nerds in the extremem and Rob did everything he could to bury those movie star looks in order to play them. But yeah...John Self. He'd be amazing in that role and now that I think about it, it would make perfect sense if Rob wanted to do it someday. This story is about everything in Hollywood that Rob hates. I'm gonna go read it again.

And there was something else...oh yeah. About being fascinated by a character that you might even hate. One of my favorite characters in all of literature is Catherine Ames Trask from John Steinbeck's East Of Eden. I hated her. She was a monster. But she was absolutley fascinating.

August in WFE? A real bastard. But in alot of ways, he is the most interesting character in the book. Well. Besides old Jacob. No one in the book is more interesting than old Jacob. But truthfully, August has got more shading to him than Jacob does. Jacob is the standard, young romantic hero in the story. Nothing wrong with that. But I'll bet if you asked Rob which character he would rather play, he'd choose August in a heartbeat. But...he can't. Too young.

Anyway...I gotta get off of this thread.

Sumbuddy stop MEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Solas...

I'm sorry there. I didn't mean to make a blanket statement about the sensibilities of conservative people. I know that it's possible to feel one way about one thing and then feel the complete opposite about something else. I'm so liberal that I'm really a socialist (a dirty word here in America), but I am. And I suspect, being raised in Europe, so is Rob. But...I also have rather high handed, perhaps even conservative opinions about some things. And yeah, sometimes they contradict the hell out of each other. I'm all for the sexual emancipation of women, yet the fallout of the sexual revolution (12year olds at oral sex hook parties), makes me want to vomit.

And I suspect that Rob too may have a few conservative leanings. I remember that one time he was talking about sex amoungst his generation and he said..."it just so cheap." And he didn't say it as a joke. There was a resignation to him when he said it. Like he thought...this wasn't the right way to be going. But anyway. I apologize if I put you off there.

As for concieted. Hmmm...I don't think so. Look. There's no way he can look in the mirror and not see those incredible eyes and that handsome face staring back at him. But just because you recognize that, doesn't mean you 'fawn' over it. It doesn't mean he doesn't have an ego and that he doesn't look in the mirror. Of course he does, but I just don't see any 'vanity' in Rob Pattinson. And that's really what conceit it. It's vanity. If he were vain, he's have his hair styled and he'd dress to the nines. He doesn't give a good goddamn about his appearance. Just my take.

Oh. As for suching in those cheek bones? Yeah, I noticed that early on and thought...what the hell are you doing kid? You look like a male model. Then lo and behold, I discovered he'd been one and that' most likely where he was taught that 'preening' pose. I've noticed he did it early on in his stardom, but hardly ever now. Probably didn't know what to do standing there having his picture taken so he did what he knew when standing in front of a camera...he sucked his cheeks in.

OH. MY. GOD.

I'm still on this thread. Why didn't sumbuddy stop MEEEEEEEEE???

For god's sake people. Don't you recognize a psycho in your mistds (how the hell do you spell that? does the t come first or the d?), when one is standing right in front of you foaming at the mouth?

Remember old Tim Johnson, the mad dog from "To Kill A Mockingbird" that came foaming at the mouth and wobbling down the street and Atticus had to shoot him? Well. At the moment...that's me. Foaming and a wobbling. Hey. If I ever need another screen name, that's it. Tim Johnson (and no will know what it means. It means...mad dog).

I thought this thread was dead this morning. How has it kept going? We started with twaddling and now were on to mad dogs. I just love it when a thread does this.

You know we're going to get tarred & feathered any minute now. Rob bashing...Oh oh, can't have that LOL. Rob does have his faults, of course, buy I really, really don't think conceit is one of them.
But while we're on the subject of Rob's imperfections...

@Nik, I HAVE mentioned Rob's drinking and alcoholism in the same sentence here. ITA with you. It's all fun and games at 24, but down the road, Rob may have a problem if it goes unchecked, especially if he is drinking to self-medicate to deal with social situations and the enormous pressure he is under. Remember the Details interview (I'd like to forget it!), whatshername, punctuated the published interview with the number of beers Rob drank (4, and they were pints I believe), and how abruptly he ended the interview. What did he say he could never give up for Lent recently: "Beer" Enough said. It's simply the Elephant in the room around here (and it ain't Rosie!), and there's bound to be backlash, because, afterall, he's "just having a good time" "letting his hair down", "he deserves it", "he's not drunk, he's just tired" Okiedokie.
YES, thanks for sloppy seconds definition. I thought was something like that, but it was kind of funny that he used that expression, re being the last one she had to kiss, wasn't it? I just love how these things pop out of his mouth, he doesn't filter much, especially when the girl is sitting beside him, he seems more relaxed. Come to think of it, did he run his fingers through his hair at all???? That's unusual.

nikola6 said...

Oh my god Solas...

I'd rather dring cyanide than go to the MTV Movie Awards. If Rob thinks that the sound of girls screaming is what it will sound like at the gates of hell, I think the MTV Movie Awards are HELL. Yes. The actual spot.

I wouldn't step foot in there if Jesus Christ himself was waiting for me to interview him.

But seriously Solas. Oh. I just couldn't. Ten minutes in that chaos and fakery and I'd run screaming for the exit.

And I hope that me pointing out a few 'truths' about Rob today was not seen as bashing. I would never bash him. I'd call him on his shit (if I thought he was really getting out of line). But to bash someone is to go for their throats and how can you do that with someone you love?

I couldn't.

And would you people stop being interesting and stop saying interesting things for just one damn minute so that I can go away? Jaysus!

Why you hop right back on here and say something interesting, which I cannot resist responding to and now what have we got? Correct. Mad dog still foaming at the mouth. Yell at lolli ladies, not me. She made me do it. Her fault. Not mine.

But seriously...
You hit the nail on the head. His drinking is the 'elephant' in the living room on this blog. And yeah, it's chalked up to youthfulness and whatnot and hell, I've made more than my fair share of comments about him getting his drunk on (and laughing about it), but the truth is...at 24 we can still laugh about it. But if he wakes up at 34 and is still at it...it ain't gonna be so funny. And I'm not ready to sound the alarm...yet. Lets see how he's faring once he becomes a husband and a father (that's usually when alot of this behavior takes a header). But yeah, I'd be a liar if I said it doesn't concern me. It does. I cannot tell you how many true artists throughout history were substance abusers and actors? Oh my god. Some of the greatest drunks in history were actors...

Spencer Tracy
Humphrey Bogart
Jack Lemmon

to name just the first three that came to my head and there are thousands of them.

And...they're saying that the current drug amoungst the young in Hollywood, isn't a drug at all. It's alcohol. That's the new drug. But of course, alot of young posters here probably don't want to hear any of this because (like Rob) they're in their drinking years and probably can't see what all the fuss it about it. And I'd have to agree. Nothing to fuss about yet. But it's certainly something to keep an eye with him.

But that's just me...

A clucky mother hen
OR
A mad dog foaming at the mouth

I'll answer to either one.

I was just wondering what would happen if I ever was forced to attend the MTV Movie Awards...in any capacity. Well. After about 10 minutes, I'm pretty sure I'd rush the stage, grab the mike and start screaming (not only at the audience, but to the camera as well)...

WHAT THE HELL IS THE MATTER WITH YOU PEOPLE? HAVE YOU LOST YOUR DAMN MINDS? HALF OF THESE MOVIES ARE SHIT! SOME OF THAT MUSIC YOU LISTEN TO IS EARSPLITTING SHIT! YOU GIRLS ARE DRESSED LIKE STREET WALKERS! PUT YOUR GODDAMN UNDERWEAR BACK ON! YOU PASS EACH OTHER AROUND LIKE THE LAST BEER AT A KEGGER! YOU'RE NEVER GONNA SEE YOUR TEENS AGAIN, SO GROW THE FUCK UP, WILLYA? A CENTURY AGO, PEOPLE YOUR AGES HAD A SPOUSE, A HOUSE AND THREE KIDS! NOW KNOCK THIS SHIT OFF!

(Lewis Black isn't my favorite comic for nothing. I've learned how to SCREAM from him)

And once I'd gotten that off my chest, I'd just mutter a quiet 'thank you' and then awkwardly and timidily make my way off the stage and sneek out a side door. And the room would be still be sitting there in stunned silence with everyone wearing a WTF was that expression?

Yanno. That would actually be a very funny moment at the MTV Movie Awards. And Lewis Black outta do it.

@Nicola6, you are on FIRE today... LOL, keep it up. :)
I watch the show and record it. I dind't mind her asking the relationship question because everyone seems to do that now... They made a joke and moved on. I love Rob... funny qippy self and Kristen's shyness and ackwardness. I find that very endearing... take me I can fight to the bitter end on the phone, but to stand up in a room with a crowd of ppl... cold sweat will be running down my face. I watch almost everyone of her interview and she does seems to have the shakes and seem unsmiling unless she with RP & Lautner or an interviewer she comfortable with. I saw her on R&Kelly and the walk out all nice and hot wearing a tight leather pants and the first thing Regis said was " Your pant are a bit tight aren't they? You could see the smile disappear for her face. With Jimmy Fallon... she seems abit more relax but still jittery... with Jay Leno... when he was talking about England... you could see her tensed up waiting for the RP question... She seems very gaurded. I don't like to talk about myself either... I am more of a listener.
I have to say I am not a fan of TL.... I love ppl voices and accent... his nasal well rehearsed voice and interview bores the heck of me... I just want him to move on... No disrespect... it's who he is.
Now... Nik, I do think that we should e-mail Oprah... I think it was very rude of her to say that because TL ... his father was in the audience... I believe! had good parents because he doesn't drink or smoke... How many murders have great parent? And how many rotten parent have amazing children who doesn't dring or smoke. I was offended especially as K & R was sitting right there... It wasn't a 1&1 with TL, then she could say that.
I am not a fan of O... I find her "too much". I would watch any interview with R & K... I like how pretty these two are and how normal, young and prone shy and giddy to me they seem normal.

JMHO.

Regarding the Drug thing.... No one said Kristen wasn't pretty or talented, or for that matter what type of clothes she wears. ( who cares)... I lived with a druggie (perpetual pot smoker ) functioning, nice, very sensitive ( which most are) and there are certain traits that come to a person who is mentally and emotionally altered by a substance that acts as a filter...... I didn't come to my conclusions about Kristen because of one photograph of her smoking a pipe.... or the fact that she had pictures of weed on her bikini or for that matter a vacation in Costa Rica where by the way, weed is one of their specialties ...... she proudly wears it and smokes it like a lot of people do.... I just feel bad that it seems that she portrays some of the traits that go with that type of activity... and as she is in the media now more then ever,,,, it's her mannerisms and reactions that can be picked up on if you've had any experience with it at all and you've watched her in the last two years....... so please... being a druggie is not the worst thing.... it's not the best either... but no one said anything about her look or her acting... or that Rob is above reproach... It's an observation of a beautiful talented actress that seems to portray herself at times in a less then inter grated way....so could you pls rant about something else,, your good at it... what about the Oprah faking it...... that was a good thread...

i always tent to agree with most people in this blog, I love this, but i think some are just analyzing Rob way to much...

first of all, he's not perfect but he never pretended to be, nobody is perfect. conceited? i really don't think he is. does he have to not care at all how he looks like? if that is so, i guess everybody is conceited.

second, i do agree that Oprah was disrespectful to R&K with the "Taylor is clean shit", and saying his parents are great, Rob's and Kris's parents are just as great and just different, and i don't believe, not even a little that that dude is all that clean. (i really don't like the dog, sorry)

third, about the alcoholism thing, people, let him be, i drink and I'm young (22)and that doesn't mean I'm going down that path. that boy works his ass of, he is entitled to do whatever he wants on his free time and plus he's got a family that probably, most certainly will tell him when is time to stop if it don't look to good.

let's not go ahead and see the future...let's take it one day at a time and just enjoy the pretty.

PS. what a love the most about him is the verbal vomit, so please rob! never change that even if some don't get it, i get it, cuz i do that too!

Well. I'm most likely not going to e-mail Oprah because I haven't even gotten around to answering my own e-mail for two days. And I figure that more than a few people 'caught' thit and they'll let her know. BTW...

She wants feedback for her show. She wants us to e-mail and twaddle and let her know what we think about what we saw. And that is why alot of people e-mail her. She encourages it.

And yes, what she said was an indirect insult to the families of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. That Taylor's 'clean living' comes from the fact that he came from a 'good' family. And even though she didn't say this, by saying the other, she implied that because Rob and Kris aren't 'clean living' (and with her reseach staff, there is no way she doesn't know that these two, indulge in a couple of the vices), that they must not have come from good families. All of this was implied and truthfully, I'm gonna give her the benefit of the doubt and say that this remark just came out and wasn't what she meant. But...

If Richard and Clare Pattinson and their girls had been sitting in that audience, how do you think they might have felt about that remark? And to have it come from Oprah Winfrey to be broadcast around the world?

I think they would have felt 'stung' by that offhanded remark.

And I would have to sign up for the twaddle huh Solas? Well. That seals the deal, don't it? How could I ever learn to twaddle? With the way that I talk? My brain would explode in frustration.

Oh no, no, no. I know my limitations and if had to walk into that cesspool of hype, falsefuckery and excess and having to twiddle on top of it...somone could get seriously hurt.

Seriously.

You said just what I thought some of the younger posters might say...'he's young. just having fun. get off his back, etc.' And I agree. For now. He's young. You're young. Have fun. I did.

But I've been 22 and I saw what happened to some of my friends who couldn't get a handle on their drinking. It altered their lives and in some cases, destroyed them. But you can't see that yet from where you're standing at 22 and that's because none of your friends have gone off the rails yet. And I'm not saying that Rob will. I don't have a cystal ball. But alot of us have been there, done that, survived and watched others...not survive. You cannot sit there and say with any assurance that some of the YOUNG people you're drinking with today, are not going to wind up alcholics tomorrow. You gotta start somewhere. And that future that you say we shouldn't worry about? It's going to come up upon you so fast. You're going to blink and you'll be staring down 30. Blink again and it'll be 50. But you cannot see that yet and that's because the road, the future is stretched out ahead of you and all that you hope for in this life is waiting up ahead for you. But one day soon, you'll turn back around and see the road behind you and all that happened in your life and you won't believe how fast it all went. And the same holds true for Rob. He'll blink and his 20's will gone and then his 30's and then... And if he continues as he is now, or even picks up the pace, he will be in trouble with this. If he eases back as he gets older, then he won't have a problem.

And no, I wasn't bored today. I have two comps; one for work and one for play and somehow, I can do both at the same time. And I don't know how this thread blew up today. I liken them to conversations and like one, they turn and twist and what you usually start out talking about, is not where you end up.

And the rant comment...
Already covered that today. Not gonna go into it again except to say this. The internet has fucked up the meaning of that word. If you have more thoughts than a paragraph can contain, you're ranting. To rant is to spew in anger. I'm rarely angry when I post here. I'm just talking and yeah, I talk alot. But I'm not ranting.

Although I guess some could interpret that word as just going and on about something. And I do. But no apologies. I'll only do that if I hurt someone's feelings. The thing is, the people you feel are the ranters? Why do you read their rants? Why use your time in that way? Just let 'em go by. I'd be damned if I'd waste my time on that which annoys me.

You know what I really think? No. Do tell. I think that alot of people on the internet don't really read the comments (especially the long ones) BUT...they do comment on threads in which they aren't privy to all of the conversation (which is their right), but then...they give uninformed opinions. At least concerning whatever the current topic of conversation is. Many times I've read comments (and I do read 'em. that takes up more time than my posts) and I think...are they even reading any of the conversation that they're jumping into? And this is where alot of the disagreeing starts. And I guess some might say...I don't wanna read all that, I just wanna say something. Ooookay.

Rant (giggles) over...

Maybe she was putting the pressure on the new kid..ever think of that..the new kid that is OVER 18 years old now..and has too learn to stand on his own two feet..umm have any of you seen his Father? Do you call that clean? She was digging may-haps? But again, I also thought it was a great interview. :)

Insult to Robert's and Kristen's parents indeed. LOL

@Solas, I know you're gone now for the Sabbath, but I think you should email Oprah, and I will too (if I can figure out her email address). The more I think about that comment and what must have been running through Rob and Kristen's minds, the angrier I get. I'm sure she did not mean to insult or hurt them, but words have power and Oprah's utterings have A LOT, like it or not. I would personally appreciate it if she made an apology, I think she's done it before. Innocent or not, she insulted two of her guests and their families through insinuation. I don't want to make more of this than has already been posted here, but it was way wrong, and indeed tactless. A word I'm well acquainted with, as I've been accused of it many times. In my case, I'm always joking, but some don't get it.

Well. For someone who wasn't gonna go back into 'rant' again, I just wrote three large paragraphs.

Ah shaddup. Could have been 12. LOL!

Nik,

Yes, i'm young but i did not say what i said because it. I said it cuz rob looks to me like someone with intelligence and giving him the benefit of the doubt, i think he will be able to control his booze. That was the only thing I meant. I know a lot of people who unfortunately could not control it. Yes it can happen, but i'm just saying to not over think stuff.

Cheeky Chops said...

Yep, and ppl like me..in a hurry..always on the go..and reading other things in the process..do you think they read all that? Do you think I read all that? NO. But, it gives you something too do, and one can dream. Carry on. :)

My new glasses won't come until next week and I just spent too much time plowing through all these comments! Eyes hurt with after images.

Nik & solas you are great, as always enjoy your comments. Some of the other folks too but a few not so much.

Rob is so full of life it is intoxicating to me. Anyone, everyone responds to those few among us whose eyes sparkle more, who exude some kind of magnetic electric current above and beyond the norm. He is rare. Enjoy him and love him now. If Kristen makes him happy I am all for it.

Even though there were lots of nice moments I have to agree that Oprah was condescending to Kristen. The comment about TL's family was a jab at the families of R & K whether it was intentional or not. What a lot of rubbish these young people have to put up with. Smile, you are on camera. Yck.

nikola6 said...

Okay. You guys are starting to turn my thinking around. I've been thinking about giving her the benefit of the doubt, but then...was it me, or did Rob kind of get a funny look on his face when she said that? Or, he looked down or something. Or maybe I just imagined it. It's just...

If so many of us caught that, then Rob and Kristen had to catch it too and I would guess that when they walked out of the studio, that they didn't give it another thought. That were more upset about it than they are right now. Maybe in the moment it stung them, maybe not. But now? I can't imagine them stewing over this.

Hmmm...I know I'm not gonna write to Oprah (don't have time), but now I gotta figure out whether to still be pissed at her. Truth is...she's done alot of good in this world and I admire her tremendously for it, but...there's always been something about her that's put me off. And we need to remember (and I just did), her show didn't start out as it is now and she wasn't always, Queen Oprah; benefactor of the world. It started out as a tabloid talk show. I remember, she got disgusted with it and changed the format. But yeah, that's where she started. Hmmm...interesting.

i think we will always find a fault in every interview that involves rob.

the only thing i noticed was the robsten question ad how she sort of disregarded kristen and directed the question and rob. to me it was rude. the smoking and drinking comment i just dont think she knew about r&ks drinking or smoking habbits so thats her crews fault. I doubt she is the gofer for info regarding her guests unless she is personally invested like obama or beyonce.

i also doubt she will care enough to read the letters. she prob wont make a public apology either so its a wasted effort. while i do agree in the fact that something should be said. i am just curious about what everyone expects in return?

nikola6 said...

I hear you Lexi...

And I agree. He is a very intelligent young man, well raised with a good head on his shoulders and no, none of us knows the future. But having lived a little bit longer, you get a different perspective on things because you've seen more of life and what it can do to, yes, intelligent, well raised people with good heads on their shoulders, who make the wrong decisions when they're young.

And I want him to have fun while he's young too. But I also want him to make those right choices that will give him a long and happy life. And I'd hate to see him doing things today that could COULD run away from him and harm his future.

But I too am optimistic about Rob. I've said all along...I think he's gonna be just fine.

Thread dead yet? If not, I would politely like to reiterate MHO on Oprah's asking them the QUESTION. Many have taken umbrage that she dare ask, including Nik. Come on now. She was bringing up more than just "rumors", how about a damn obsession that has been tweeted, published, lied about, speculated on, and ingrained in Pop culture gossip and people's minds now for a long time. Are they or aren't they? She HAD to ask, how could she not and retain any cred as an interviewer. If she hadn't, she would have been accused of caving to publicists (or Summit), going soft on them, giving them a pass and special treatment, whatever. Would Barbara Walters have backed off it? She asked, they joked, she moved on. I don't believe she expected an honest answer at all, but I do think it may have set the tone for the rest of the interview and where she went with it. She was thwarted, and "choked". Couldn't think on her feet of other questions she could ask them of a remotely personal nature, except the book question to Rob, which was edited out in the Northeast, so she turned to Taylor, which resulted in her unfortunate faux pas. I wonder how much else was edited out?
This thread is not dead until Jessegirl weighs in!

@ nik - There's so much to refer to but time is of the essence, so regarding your comments about ranting: Today so many people think and respond in the length of sound bites. Concise expression that regretfully negates complete thought and analysis. What's so endearing about you is that you have substance when you write. When you lengthen your comments, they do, regardless of what you said, make sense. I'm concerned about young people today not being able to formulate a meaningful comment beyond three sentences. You are always interesting and you explain yourself well and use good examples to drive the point home.

@ Solas - I love Ayn Rand and read Atlas Shrugged when I was in my late 20's. It was a life changing read. I would love to see Rob play the part of John Galt. What an amazing role that would be.

Hope I'm not too late for the thread. I usually join so late I miss most, if not all, the fun. I love you NB's.

I cringed when Oprah brought up the smoking and drinking question to Taylor. My first thought was that was really obnoxious in front of Rob and Kristen who do smoke and drink. Now Rob doesn't come from a good family because he drinks and smokes? I didn't care for Oprah at all in this interview. She came off as condescending.

nikola6 said...

No. Don't think this sucker is dead yet. From the length and varying subject matter, I think were gonna have to beat this one to death with a club. LOL! Actually, when threads explode like this and I go back and read them in their entirety, it always makes me think...'next time you bring the cheeze whiz and I'll bring the crackers. hee hee.

And thank you so much Barbara. Those were very kind words. I know I can chat up a storm, but I do try to also toss my warped sense of humour into the mix too. I mean, if we can't laugh, then what's the point?

And lalli...
You gotta point there. She did have to ask. You're right. If she hadn't, her credibility as a talk show host would have been on the line and I hate that. That it's come to that, that the culture has pushed it to the point, that we have to ask private people very private questions. And she did it have heartedly like she knew she wasn't going to get THE answer. But yeah, she had to ask.

Once she left the White House and public life, how do you suppose that Jacqueline Kennedy would be perceived today? Second only to her children, she valued her privacy most. Like Garbo, she went silent in the EXTREME and every journalist in the world wanted to interview her but she said no. In fact, she didn't even say no. She said nothing. I think she would be perceived as a cold fish who thinks she's above talking to the public and spilling her guts about her life. She wouldn't be the revered figure today that she was in her lifetime.

My My. The times they are a changing'...

@Barbara, think we're actually closing out this thread, but just to say ITA and you expressed something I had not given much thought to, but you're so right about people expressing their opinions. The good news is that despite Nik's uber long comments, they are always smart and insightful, often LOL humorous, and the surprising thing is that many around here appreciate them judging on the feedback she gets.

lallieb said...

Well this has been a great, gratifying thread, totally unexpected from the original topic. Does anyone remember what it was? LOL. My final words, seeing and hearing Rob on Oprah and especially that backstage interview, endears him (and, yes Kristen too) all the more to me. Don't know why, can't explain it, but I guess I have to say it FILTM! With that, I say Good Night!

@nik...spot on with the comments about criticising Kristen and not Rob...
