Robert Pattinson had his gym clothes in hand yesterday afternoon following a workout in LA. (Kate: Boy would I loke to be a fly on the wall for that) He had the afternoon off after spending much of last week in the Ventura area getting down to work on Water for Elephants. He was the first on set looking hot and dirty, but Rob was later joined by his costar Reese Witherspoon for more filming. Reese also had some downtime, and she spent her Saturday bonding with her son Deacon and boyfriend, Jim Toth. Robert's own special friend Kristen Stewart was nowhere to be seen but he and she will be together next month when they present a sneak peek of Eclipse at the MTV Movie Awards with Taylor Lautner.

M: can't remember all the articles, but Rob's Vanity Fair interview had these quotes from Hardwicke:

The studio also wasn't sure he was right for the part, according to "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke. " 'Catherine, do you think you can make this guy look good?' " Hardwicke recalled being asked. "So I said, 'Here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to get his hair back to a different color, do a different style. He would work with a trainer from now on. My cinematographer is great with lighting. He will study the cheekbones, and I promise you, we'll make the guy look good.' "

She realized from the start that the unusual angles of Rob's face had to be highlighted just right.... and since she already saw his great beauty, she knew what to bring out.

captain--yes! So well said!

Loisada---doesn't it seem so strange-- to think she had to 'make the guy look good'???? for those of us who saw him at least in GoF, he was already beautiful. Did he look so odd or ugly when he auditioned??

OK, and now that I've calmed (sobered up) down. I just realized; I missed a whole very (ridiculous) important conversation.

Solas, do you know what a man looks like after he gets smacked dead in the face with a frying pan?

I DO. :)

So much as been covered on this thead!

It's right that the term WB keeps coming up - my Ex used to beat me - as a result I work in a domestic violence org, raising awareness is really important. If it doesn't offend, it's possible that the issue may never have touched you - but if an item of clothing was called a child beater I'm sure that would touch everyone - ridiculous example - of course it is - but then so is WB.

About his legs - this link illustrates:

http://www.robsessedpattinson.com/2010/01/robert-pattinson-long-lean-and.html

I tend to notice that Rob's left foot turns in more particularly in this first pic which is unbelievable (you try it!), the one of him by the car is also really unusual. He also says he has triple jointed fingers.

poor guy. it must suck to make bank, be adored by millions, work with your friends and travel the world...

i admit the paps thing is pretty out of control and clearly invasive, but the pros of the profession far outweigh its cons. furthermore, the obsession with celebrity isnt exactly new so celebs must enter the industry with some level of awareness. if they dont, they are naive. i have very little sympathy for celebrities who whine about this "comes with the territory" aspect of the entertainment biz.

k, ill hop off my soapbox now.

and I, a pretty tolerant person, have no tolerance for the feeble-souled who rationalize intolerable, rude, disgusting, invasive and even, G-d forbid, life-threatening behaviour against a person by saying that person deserves it, knew what he was getting into, or even that the perks outweigh those pesky little 'aspects of the entertainment biz.'

First of all, some people who want to ACT, who pick theatre, smaller films, 'indies,' so they can hone their craft and enjoy their artform and create within it for others, expecting a small audience, ESPECIALLY shy people, do not go into the field desiring to be adored by millions, nor expecting the madness of fame and stardom, and if a film suddenly makes it big, or they do, especially before they have learned what they want and have done smaller projects the way they planned, it is more than logical that they would be overwhelmed and would be looking for a place to hide. And it is to their credit if they manage to 'catch up' to that level, manage to handle it and enjoy it wthout it getting to their heads.

Second-- I wonder how many would rationalize that slaves and concentration camp inmates were 'whiney' since they got all those perks-- a cabin, food, clothing. thank G-d, Rob and other actors are surely not in that extreme of a category, but the main idea is the same--rationalizing ill-treatment because the victim gets 'perks.'

Last-- listing all the positives they receive (money, travel, etc.) as if it excuses the negatives just smacks of jealousy.

I DIE!! I love awkward wonky Rob. If I wanted perfection (which is insanely boring) Id be drooling over Zac Efron. Robs profile is breathtaking. His voice soothes, his smile melts, and his piano playing makes the women drool. I now wonder what is going on with those shoes? GIVE ME BACK MY SHOES Dammit !

@Kem- Love ur kid. You got a smartazz on ur hands-its a gift. I wonder what he's gonna say for Remember Me and Bel Ami??

Plus, Bel Ami is going to be too mature for him I think. At least I hope so. hehehe

Like I said (but will try to add caps for emphasis) : 'THANK G-D, Rob and other actors are surely NOT in that EXTREME of a category, but the main idea is the same--rationalizing ill-treatment because the victim gets 'perks.'

But very sadly, I have actually read articles and archives where this type of comment WAS made about slaves and concentration camp inmates-- that they were getting shelter, clothing, etc. and were too 'whiney.'

solas said...

lallieb--ys ndeed--can you explain to me what that person intended by sayng that, or was it just to pass thru town leaving one's litter along the highway?

AP_- the original thread still stands and deserves commenting. Rob is crossing the street, holding trainers and clothing--possibly his own, possibly not-- and does not look happy about being snapped, as if they lie in wait for the poor lad.

tangents included certain garment, with a horrfyngly revolting disgusting name, that some would like to see Rob wear. thankfully, there are other names for the garment. Another tangent, often seen on these threads, is the idea that Rob deserves all of the negative stuff since he has the positive. yet another tangent was the idea that seriousness or comments that analyze turn people off from coming here as they are here for fun, and the counter-idea that the site is for Rob fans, serious or not.

Discuss ;-)

It is all kinds of crazy & preachy in here....LMAO at you, not with you. Wow, just wow.

Belladonna said...

I've been reading this thread for two days now... and it is probably ready to shut down.
I hope so.

I come here to read reliable Rob/Rob stuff news and see his beautiful pictures. And, yes, there is a place for all comments, the drooling, sex-toy talk and the more serious analysis here. There's a place for both; we need not read them all if we're not up for one of the other. So, why all this bickering back and forth trash-talking? No one should have to defend themselves here from being attacked; this isn't a cyber-bullying site, it's a Rob-site.

It's time to shut this down and move on, take a breath and consider that this one's gone over the top.

You will drive others away who might want to participate but don't want to be slapped down for saying the "wrong" thing.

modestypatch said...

This is going to be sort of long, but since we are all free here to share opinions, here's mine...
To hear some of you talk, Rob is some freak who is going to be disabled by the time he's 30! One leg a little shorter (If that is even true BTW, cuz according to Rob he has nits and a vagina allergy) does not mean he has poor muscle tone or that he has a severe health issue. I really feel like I need to defend him (and the blog) cuz if he were reading this...what would he think of this FAN site? People have flaws. NO ONE is symetrical! I mean GOD! I guess I should seek quick medical attention cuz one of boobs is smaller than the other! Also, I have a nephew who is pidgeon toed and was a VERY successful college cheerleader and gymnast. Finally, I find all the speculation a little ridiculous being that it is based mostly on his leg and body positions in still photos. I would challenge any of you to walk down the street and have someone take pictures of you in motion. You will probably get photos that look awkward as well. Rob I love every wonky and nonwonky step you take. No worries....you are not a freak!

@ Solas, because of different time zones and night work I couldn't respond to you yesterday. So thank you very much for your view on the wonky legs. My son (who has the same age as Rob) has a leg size difference which caused scoliosis and other issues. That's why I was interested in the first place. After reading all the comments I felt a bit guilty about my question to you but it seems that some others were interested too so I feel a bit of relief. Again thank you so much.

beanie- As i said above, I am loathe to give my observations not only because i haven't seen him in person, but also because I don't want to offend himself or his family if they read it (his mum used to read everythng she found on him). You asked, so i answered. If anyone asks again, I would rather email my response; What I write and my concern for Rob, and my fierce defense of himself, seem to be easily misunderstood.

As for the word 'retarded,' I know my eyes are not very good, so I could be wrong, but i could not see use or mention of that word until a posting at 1:52. If anyone misconstrued from any comments of myself or others about ROb, it was a depressing lack of comprehension. As far as I know, we all admire Rob, and some of us for his mind, heart, and soul at least as far as we can tell (yes, we extrapolate his personality as much as we can extrapolate from our observations about his gait, etc, and sometimes we can be offbase).

As for trying to make people feel badly, think about some of the terms that were used: preachers, crazies, psych 101, and this site ruined because not all of us play the same way.

hazeleyes said...

working in the medical field i agree no one is perfect..we had body image issues.i find rob to be perfect imo.i just responed to a post.i do however stand by what i said about his smoking and dietary habits and what eating the wrong or right foods can do for your body.i do prefer the long lean look he has now,but he were to all mass and defination...he needs the right foods. thats all i was trying to say.oh and to comment on his parents choice of music/dance training.i meant no harm.i will go back to lurking.

solas said...

las-- your comments are welcomed by many of us. Those of us who comprehend,we understood what you meant. I thnk most of us see the lad as pretty perfect in most respects. :-) I personally don't see some challenges in muscle tone or motor skills as faults, just something to be addressed depending on what one is doing. For someone sitting at a desk all day the issues are not the same as someone doing more physical tasks. It could be that those of us in a relaated field, or parents with kids with similar patterns, just see things differently. One of the things I had loved about this blog is learning different things from different people of different cultures and different places. I learn so much from Nik and AP, for instance. It saddens me to think our kind of observations, admiration, and conversation are not welcome, or ruin other people's enjoyment.
Anyway--if you go back to lurking, then you deprive those of us who are interested in different perspectives. So please continue to be part of the blog, which is not only for laughing and having fun and phantaszing, etc, but also for admiring and wondering about such a beautiful talented lad.

I know no one gives a shyte, but I like both kinds of comments. I know I sounded a bit harsh this morning, but that's just me. I'm too blunt and sometimes it comes across that way. Sorry, Solas if you felt that. I believe we can all be serious or fun, depends on moods. We are women after all, and have good and bad days. I was seriously just asking if you were in a bad mood Solas, and you answered me about the concentration camps.

As for the word retarded or anything that was put on this post. Remember, it was by a ten year old boy. Who wasn't picking on Robert. He was picking on the character Art, and on me of course. :)

If people weren't so over-protective and insecure about Robert, it wouldn't have bothered them. Have faith in the man you supposedly "LOVE". Kids do use the word retarded. I don't personally but he's just ten, and thinks Art is a bit self centered. Plus, favorite part in the movie of his, is when the man tells him. "I think maybe you come here just too make yourself feel better." He totally agrees, and yes, laughs @ him. Not with him. :)

I'm really sorry that I've taken to checking in here at work and today I have to say, if I had peeked in here for the first time, and saw the takeover by the NB's, I would have never come back. It seemed bitchy and bullying! The intelligent comments by Bella and Tedgirl about room for all were shoved aside so the residents could take over the asylum, at the expense of others who made comments they did not think belonged here, because it's all about having fun with Rob for them. Little surprised at RPG and CL,thought more of you (like you give a shit) and seemed like you all just wanted the excuse to use the word FUCK over and over again. Hey, I use it a lot, and actually think it works well in many situations, but try to use discretion when I'm on a public forum. I said it previously: Don't like a comment, then skip it, it's not YOUR BLOG. God knows you've had many threads that you've hijacked and had great fun with ( I read everything.) Gozde had the last word as I hoped she would.

It's obvious, you're happily NBs of like mind, but I'd respectfully like to remind you of the many who may not be (or only occassionally) and whose input I've appreciated and would hate to see disappear if the Blog becomes a one-note obsession with RTP excluding their views (in no particular order): Lois, Tedgirl, Jesse, Lemonless, TotallyRobbed, Stephislegit, Nancy, Barbara, Belladonna, Marna, toomuchpretty, Captain, Est, Cricrila, Rick, and last but by no means least, Solas and Nik, and I'm sure there are others I've missed. I could also name others who no longer seem to be here, but the point is that it's not an exclusive club. We are a diverse group and can ALL bring something to the table and have our disagreements as any group will, but we ALL have that one thing in common, need I say it? Nope, we all know, and he makes me smile every day of my life to know he exists.

about the other directors, they just don't just get it like Cathy

Kember, thank you for reminding me of an earlier use of the word 'retarded.' I know you and your son did not mean it in the way it was used later, totally offbase. I admit concentration camp example was extreme, and I believe I did say that, but i HAVE seen people rationalize terrble treatment including slaves and concentraton camp inmates, or call victims 'whiney' and I DO get very distressed about people rationalizing that whatever negative, nasty, offensive, dangerous stuff that comes Rob's way, he somehow 'deserves' or 'asked for it' or 'should have known' or call him 'whiney'.

@Solas-You know I play both sides of the fence on this issue. I cannot help it. Do I like papz in his face and possibly chasing him in cars. Of course not, but he does make millions and apparently likes LA parties. Plus, maybe he wouldn't be as popular if we weren't on here, able to view how he walks home from the gym; on his wonky legs. LOL

solas said...

But see--maybe I am just weird, but I don't see how 'making millions' makes it oK. And i don't know if he likes the parties; could be, and if he does, I am happy for him. And maybe it is better for him than hiding out in a room or set. I guess I just don't get moral equivalencies and rationalizations of bad behaviour.

Cheeky Chops said...

Well maybe I worded it wrong. I just meant that he's BIG now, and we all know this happens. It's been happening for years. Everyone else has to put up with it, too. Is it a pain in the ass? YES! Did he think a little movie like Twilight would get him here? NO! But he's here, and now he's doing great movies and building a great career. I really don't think he complains about it too much. He's just not the type. He sees himself as lucky. As he should; pains in the ass and all.

solas said...

Right-- in the end, I think he is doing splendidly well. He has found his own ways to adjust, eve nn if it means hiding out or stayng on set. I don't think he complains, but he does resent the vultures and won't give them the satisfacton of a smile- and that is one way to cope, without punching them out. I am just so impressed wth this lad, including how he deals with it all, especially knowing how fearful he was/is of crowds, how much he denies it is about himself, etc. Just so wowed by him.

I feel horrible. I feel like my long winded comments have ruined this for some. I'm really sorry. I swear, I'll shut up. I love the NB's and consider myself one only I always got here too late to play and then I'd go off on some tangent. I don't meant to. I just write the way I talk. Ask RPG about the e-mails I send her. You poor thing.

I guess everyone comes at this thing differently. Different feelings and motivations for wanting to talk publicly about someone. I just figured you read the posters that interest you and skip those that don't. I don't know. I've never done this kind of thing before. I've worried that I was doing it wrong.

I came here to have fun and maybe I've veered away from that with my serious talk. I don't know what to do now.

And I don't even know if this is me talking or the beer. I'm feeling kinda weepy right now. If I was more sober I might be more sassy about it.

If I've driven anyone crazy, I'm really sorry. It was never my intent.

Cheeky Chops said...

@Nik-You're fine. I can be a real bitch. That's just me, and yes I have good days and I have bad days. Which I then sometimes take it out on the people on the computer. That's what happens when you have three kids. Oh, and when you're PMSing. If you've read my posts carefully, you can actually clock it. Most of the online friends do, and have the tendency to disappear for a week. Imagine that. I mention it in conversation and they all of a sudden go offline. It's a run-on joke, and rather funny actually. The computer is my outlet, keeps the people around me sane. Oh, and alive. LOL

The thing is, if anyone comes at me, I'll usually back down. That's the pathetic people pleaser in me. But when someone goes after someone I like, that's when my claws can come out. I don't have any kids, but man oh man, do I have some protective mama bear instincts in me.

Anyway. I'm gonna go get another beer and read some Edward Wallbanger.

I can't believe I am adding to this thread but since it's confession time I've got one. I've needed to say this for a long time and now seems to be an appropriate one.

Nik,
You probably don't remember but I made a dismissive remark to you about Martin Amis recently, saying that I hated his novels, and I have regretted it ever since. Hate is a pretty strong word and it is stupid to be flippant and dismissive about such a complex and interesting writer as Amis. My opinions about him are infinitely more nuanced than that. I loved Experience, it made a huge impact on me and I read it twice. I thought his book on Cliche was excellent and I love his essays and reviews. I've tried his novels and for a whole bunch of reasons important only to me, I don't like them. Why didn't I at least say that?

My only excuse other than stupidity is my tendency to be reductive when I write, trying to use as few words as possible. NOT GOOD for blogging, where it is helpful to be able to communicate properly...like being married only to a lot more people. Sometimes you've got to punch your own weight and I'm really out of my league on a blog.

Nik, I love reading your comments and I think you are a welcome addition to this blog. Readership must have gone up tenfold because of your contributions. And I think you're writing is great...fluid, passionate, generous, and addictive. You're a natural.

Robsessed,
Thanks for the venue.

solas said...

CB-- agree, that blog, or any online commenting, is best not reduced if you actually want to communicate, because the medium leaves us without other hints that add to the message (body language, eye contact, etc). And sometimes people, especially like NIk, simply have a wealth of information and observations to share, and so it is not in appropriate for a blog comment, or long-winded at all, and even enhances the communication mode because it enables the human to be seen through the words--Nik's humour, intricate connecting sometimes free-associating thought patterns, etc. Uh oh-- this migh tbe seen as (shudder) psychobabble! But you know what-- Tough Boogies on whomever doesn't like it!

solas said...

BTW CB--I haven't read any of AMis (I know, what kind of fan am I, that I don't rush out to read everything Rob reads?) How would you descrbe his writing and topics? (I will look him up on Amazon, but I want to hear from people wth whom I communicate).

Fae007 said...

I know this is probably a closed thread already (thank God!), but I just felt the need to say one more thing!

@lallieb and the others who share her opinion

You made us sound like we come here full of disrespectful and objectifying thoughts and see fun in that! NOT TRUE!!!
We come here to admire Rob's wonderful work and personality and not praise him as a God!

Just some things we say you take way too serious and probably are just the half of what you think in your minds!
Admit that the first thing you noticed about him was his looks or you're lying to yourself.
And that is not objectifying nor disrespectful! That's normal! Just think for a second about his guy thoughts... Yeah...

I don't wanna fight with anyone, but I would be the first to jump in his defence!
And that's what we did! Cause I noticed the story was about how he might be retarded and have problems and let's observe him!
God, who are you to even presume such things!
Just love his work and who he is and admire the fact how he stayed the same through all this, cause that's why we're all here!

And @lallieb- What you said about CL and rpg- there IS more to them, but you obviously don't know them! So don't judge!
I am here to defend my friends as well.

jh said...

solas,
Thanks. :-) Although I must say, sometimes the only response to a pic of Rob is "Yummy" :-D

Wow, you're asking someone who has a problem with words to sum up Amis in a few. Sorry, no can do, he's huge. Contemporary British writer, son of Kingsley, writes about life, writing, modern culture. Edgy, iconoclastic. Sorry.

solas said...

What we have here is a failure to communicate (i got it from the begnning of guns n roses song, but it was taken from a paul newman movie, i found out later).

There was no story about Rob being, G-d forbid, retarded. Someone was relating a funny comment from her 10 year old son who was watching a dvd of Rob and was laughing at the character! Any of us who know about Rob think he is, if not totally brilliant, then pretty near. As for observations, someone asked me about something I had said as an observation months ago, when we were discussing Rob's 'wonkiness;' and several comments at that time reflected a professonal or parental experience with Rob's mannerisms. This is actually one of my main fields in real life and i gave my observations WITH CAVEATS. No one is saying the child (and yes, some of us, honestly, see him as a child, a lovely child)is not gorgeous, talented, etc. Some of us ARE sayng we notice things that might reflect a challenge that could actually be dangerous for himself, G-d forbid, depending on what kind of stunts he does (we had originally been dscussing his riding bareback for Unbound captives, and I am quite concerned about his doing that without learning to develop muscle tone and gross motor skills, beyond usual horseback riding lessons), and so it would be a good idea for him to be evaluated if he hasn't been already. I have a feeling, based on a lot of what his parents did for him, that they noticed some stuff as well. If you disaagree, that is fine. But it is not meant as an insult, nor 'psychobabble' nor fndng fault, but rather concern, and in this case was simply a response to a posted request.

Fae007 said...

Ok, I'm not trying to be his mother either, cause first, it's phisically impossible, since he's older than me! LOL

And I believe his mother has already done everything she could for him and was concerned about him and still is.

But even if he's young and still thinks that way ( I know, I still feel that way too), he is not a child anymore.
And he's doing things so he's obviously capable of doing them.

...just to add my 2cents to this thread, I read almost all the comments since May 24th and I have to say I very much enjoyed some of the comments from this thread. However I know who's comments to read and whose comments to skip thats just what I do.
I dont wanna mention any names specifically but I notice that once we start attacking each other we end up losing some of the good commenters around. I remember last year someone said something to "Crazyvamp" since then she almost stopped blogging!
Lets just accept our differences...(sorry guys: English is my 3rd langauge hence I prefer to write short comments)

solas said...

fae--I guess we have to agree to disagree. I personally feel, and haave experienced, that one doesn't have to be someone's mother to care or be concerned. in fact, I think the world would be a far far better place if people cared about not only their own kids, but others as well, and even cared about the adults. ANd there are a lot of idiots and even brilliant people who try stuff even if it isn't good for themselves, even if it is dangerous for them. Sometimes it is an adolescent or post-adolescent sense of indestructability; sometimes it is someone trying to face down is fears; sometimes it is peer pressure; sometimes it is embarrassment.

The fact that Rob is going to a gym is a good sign; he is at least building up his muscle tone.

To all the NBs & Nik, you too…
Thank you guys for sticking up for US and standing your ground, whether others view as right or wrong.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I for one did not mean to step on anyone’s toes when I made my stand the other day. I was responding to a direct comment made in regards to something I said, and yes, I got pissed.

A lot of you may not know (or care) but you have to understand that I have been cyber bullied on this very blog going back 6 months..and I’ve had enough…

I’ve been called a bitch, a dried up old cunt who lives off her children (which is ironic considering I’ve worked my whole life & it is I who supports them, but whatev) I’ve been told it’s disgusting for a woman of my age to lust after a 24 yr old man (really? Is this 2010 or 1910?)…

I mean the list goes on & on the stuff that I’ve been slammed with…

But.. I’ve stuck it out because I talk to more lovely people than creeps, I love this blog, and of course Rob…

I think as a society we’ve become so sensitive to being politically correct all the time, that it’s actually stunted us as humans.

You can’t say this because you will offend this group, and you can’t say that because you’ll offend that group. People! Grow the fuck up. Not everything has to be put up as a socially conscious discussion. It’s ridiculous….

I can be as serious as a heart attack and there are extremely interesting discussions that go on between visitors of this blog…and if I’m bored, I do tend to pass them up.

I will sit an analyze every pair of shoes, shirt, coat, or layers that Rob has on..OMG, have we seen this before? Is that new? Is that borrowed? But, I can’t stand it when people start saying things like maybe he’s got something wrong with his hips, or maybe he had a traumatic childhood, or maybe this or maybe that….that’s way more personal to me than the size of his cute little butt…but that’s just me.

But to be made to feel like everything I say is offensive, and I have to be careful because so in so might get upset & attack me? No thanks…don’t need it.

I’ve met some friends here who I’m pretty sure will be friends with for years to come, and we can talk outside of this arena and do not worry about anyone else.

So anyway, take what you will think what you want..I really don’t care…maybe when things calm down a bit I’ll dip my toe back in….for now, I’ll go back to lurking and looking at the pretty photos. My friends know where to find me.

Either way, it's all good! Skip what doesn't tickle your fancy....

Fiftyshadesofpink said...

Enough already!

Who would've thought that sooo much "debate" could be sparked off by a couple of innocuous photographs?

Solas - I was the one who made the original reference to psychobabble and the reason for that was simple. I do not understand how anyone, no matter what their profession, can make those kinds of judgements and assessments based on some photos on the internet. I have no problem with lively debate, nor long comments, when appropriate. I understand that conversations meander and evolve away from the original topic, and that's part of the pleasure of communication. Obviously, given my comments on here, I have no problem with conversations taking a turn to the silly side, and I can't apologize for that. I can be serious too (really!), I'm just not sure that a blog dedicated to Rob is the best place for that.

I know that some might disagree - and that's fine.

I've met some really fun, great people through this blog. Not a clique, or a band of bullies, as some have implied, but a group of women who care about Rob and enjoy watching his career develop, whilst having a laugh along the way.

Thank you Gozde, Kat and Kate for this blog and all the work you put in!

Thanks @RPG for commenting and I get it, and heart you hard. You are the first person that ever commented to me on the blog and you've remained a loyal friend for the past year both on and off this site.

Yes my name is @sluttypatz on this blog but that is just for fun. I consider myself a NB for the same reason - FUN. Its an escape from my day to day reality and I would hate to see something I love be poisoned with us not agreeing to disagree on things.

Very few of you know this but I am going to throw this out there. I have a son that is considered "special needs" and I agree he is very special. He is 7 years old and I love him dearly. He has similar "wonky" characteristics that some of you were observing/labeling Rob as having.

My son has been able to do ANYTHING he puts his mind to. Any sport, any activity whether it be art or music he has succeeded at, and yes that includes horseback riding. He may have to work a little harder than some kids but it makes him a stronger individual.

My son is 7 and is not allowed to use the word "retard" in my house. Kid or not that word should be just as offensive as "wifebeater" was to some of you, no matter whose mouth it came from.

I love to read the comments on this blog even when at times I completely disagree with them. If you never open your mind to an opinion different from yours then you will be a short sighted individual.

I love Gozde, Kat,and Kate for giving us a forum to share little pieces of ourselves with one another daily and I want this experience to be fun again.

I hope everyone has Robtastic Day and enjoys the new threads that have been posted. I think its time we put this baby to bed.

Some of the rest of you--if you have PMS or menopausal days, count to ten and come back another day. This is a Rob fan site and in my opinion not a place to insult, put down, dissect, disrespect. What happened to GwenCooper, Sarah Bear, and the tiny girl who was expecting twins? Are we driving them away? @solas

i respect your opinion and certainly understand it. its unfortunate that you dont respect mine as well and instead resorted to not only judging me, but insulting me, and going so far as to compare celebrity perks to the food and shelter of concentration camps.

people should be able to post their perspective without being maligned by others who happen to disagree.

solas said...

h-- you are right. i do not respect every opinion, although i respect the right of every person to have and express an opinion, as long as it is not hurtful, and if i hurt your feelings, I am sorry. I did not insult you directly, but I do personally feel (again, my opinion) that someone must be weak in the soul to rationalize anyone getting garbage sent his way, having his life difficult, just because he is wealthy, famous, etc. That is like taking the blindfolds off of justice, saying --he is rich so he can have garbage but a person who is not ought not? OR that misery and trauma, if one is a sensitive or fearful person, do not count if one is rich? You weren't the first person to come to this blog and express it, and some who consider themslves fans say it as well, that he should just get over it, that he should have known, but he did NOT know, and every soul, every psyche is different. Some people can handle it better than others-- look at taylor Lautner. But some people are shy, fearful, freak out from crowds, and have an intesne sense of and need for privacy, and they do not seek out fame situations. It was terribly overwhelming for him, especially at first. He was in Harry Potter and experienced that franchise, and so probably fgured if Twilight hit it big, it would be like that. But twlight was way beyond what anyone would have expected, and he coudnt take it right away, But I am so pleased with him that he took the thoughtful time to work it out, do what he needed to have safe place, and learn to hide out so he could avoid what frightens or overwhelms him. SOme may indeed call that 'whiney', to be afraid of deafening noise as if 'at the gates of hell' (his quote), to be afraid of people jumping on himself, of someone in a crowd harming him. I do not see it as whiney; I see it as human, vulernable, sensitive, and it amazes me that he hasn't resorted (as far as I can tell, please G-d) to dangerous stuff to help him cope.

As for the comparison, it was, as I believe i had said, an extreme analogy, but it is an analogy just the same, just not anywhere near equivalent. Once again, the analogy is with rregards to rationalizing that getting benefits excuses any negatives. in fairness, you did not say it exucused ANY negatives; you realize the papz are disgusting. Nevertheless, it distresses me to think that anyone would excuse harm--even 'just' frightening earsplitting noise, physical accosting, death threatrs, and total invasion of privacy--- as long as one is getting paid well.

@RPG, no offense meant, things got out of hand, you were irritated, got a response from NB's, I was and said my thing, got responses. Divided NBs and others. Shouldn't have happened. You are important contributor and I do read all the NB's comments and have laughed along with you, only when everyone seemed to gang up, that the scales got tipped and I worried about where this Blog was headed. We're all here for same reason. I totally respect you and appreciated your last comment.
This thread should be officially dead, but hope you see this.

lallieb said...

@Fae, if you see this, yes I was intrigued when I saw Edward walk through that cafeteria door and his beauty (having read how the Twi fans were angry about the choice of HIM for the part), but I fell (hard) for Rob the minute I heard him open his mouth in RL interviews. It was not all about his looks for me, though not denying them (no one can), but it's the total package for me. I am old enough to be his mother (cough). I can say that 'cause I know I'm not the only one here.

You know when you've just stomped on a cockroach then you turn back to check if it's still alive, well this thread reminds me of that. It should be dead by now but looks like its still moving so I'm gonna jump in.

Anyhow, I've only commented oh about 25 times max for almost a year now but I do check in often so to get mentioned was a real surprise.

Thanks Lalieb

I gotta say, this has been interesting but I regreted that so many thoughts got misconstrued. If you all can just step out of yourself or the situation and just obverve what went down, you all would find it pretty funny. One minute youre talking Rob and the next minute you're talking wife beaters and concentration camps!

But you know what? As long and people have opinions, this sort of thing will continue to happen. My advise as an observer is to not take everything to heart and try to step out of it to see the humor in it all.

Cheers
