Paulo Branco On Robert Pattinson's Visit To Portugal For The "Cosmopolis" Portuguese Premiere - May 28th

Paulo Branco spoke about the 'Cosmopolis' Portuguese Premiere to Portugal's Correio da Manha newspaper and said that the event will be on May 28th and also there will be a screening on May 29th.
He said that Rob, Giamatti, Cronenberg and DeLillo will be attending.

From Correio da Manha
Translation

Guimarães – Capital Europeia da Cultura will have an unprecedented turnout on May 28, when the English actor Robert Pattinson, idol of millions of movie fans, will attend the premiere of 'Cosmopolis', directed by David Cronenberg and produced by Paulo Branco, days after learning if they won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

Major flooding will certainly happen on May 29, in the two 'Cosmopolis' screenings in Lisbon. One will take place at Centro Cultural de Belém, while the other will be open to the public, and Pattinson (and other actors, including Paul Giamatti) will be with the fans. The 'team' also includes the filmmaker David Cronenberg and writer Don DeLillo, whose novel is the basis of the film.

"I hope the fans are more civilized here," said Paulo Baulo to the CM, acknowledging that Pattinson's stay in "Cannes is a concern," since his last time in the French city the reactions were described as Beatles-like.

In the film which opens in 30 theaters on May 31st, Pattinson plays a character very different from the vampire 'Edward Cullen', star of Twilight. This is the odyssey of a Manhattan mogul that runs through the city (although shooting has taken place in Toronto and not in New York) in his limousine.

'Cosmopolis' wants the Palme d'Or

'Cosmopolis' is in a list of candidates for the Palme d'Or in the official competition of the Cannes Film Festival, revealed yesterday. According to Paulo Branco, producer of the film where David Cronenberg has made a metaphor about the capitalism crisis, to find yourself in this list "will only provide visibility throughout the world" to the project. Besides the 11th film produced by Branco candidate for the top prize at Cannes, the festival which runs from May 16-27 features works by Walter Salles ("On the Road"), Leos Carax ("Holy Motors"), Michael Haneke ("Amour") and Wes Anderson, whose 'Moonrise Kingdom' opens an exhibition.

RUMOUR: Robert Pattinson & CO To Do A BD Press Junket In Brazil ?

Ok now the first thing I HAVE to stress is the emphasis on the RUMOUR part because that's REALLY important. Please keep in mind that's all this is at the moment!
Just needed to make that absolutely clear ;-)

Photobucket

Now here's the part of the article from Jornal O Globo that has started the rumour and says that there might be a chance that Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart & Taylor Lautner MIGHT be going to Brazil for a "Breaking Dawn" Press Junket.
(I used google translate to translate it)

"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1", continued the successful vampire series, distributed in Brazil by independent Paris and scheduled for the second half, and the animated "Puss in Boots," from Paramount, whose main voice actors, Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek, will come in November.

All this generates a high cost to distributors. The market speculates that for the junket for "Fast & Furious 5", Universal has spent nearly $ 5 million. As for the "Breaking Dawn", Paris must spend up to $ 1.5 million to bring to Rio, the trio of actors Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner.

- We had already made a release of "Twilight" series in 2009 in Sao Paulo, with "New Moon". Then we were lucky to even the author of the books, Stephenie Meyer, environments have part of the "Dawn" in Rio, which brought them here to shoot last year. This facilitated the agreement to perform the junket - says Sandy Adamil, director of Paris. - You can not be guaranteed return on investment at the box office, but marketing. It certainly helps to enter Rio in the international film market."

written by Melissa Rosenberg, and will star Kristen Stewart, Robert
Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. Wyck Godfrey, Karen Rosenfelt, and
Stephenie Meyer will produce the project.

"Bringing Stephenie Meyer's BREAKING DAWN to the screen requires a
graceful and intelligent hand and we believe Bill Condon is exactly
the right steward, having shown equal and abundant talents of immense
creativity and subtle sensitivity,” said Erik Feig, President of
Production and Acquisitions, for Summit Entertainment.

Added author Stephenie Meyer, "I'm so thrilled that Bill wants to work
with us. I think he's going to be a great fit, and I'm excited to see
what he does with the material."

“I'm very excited to get the chance to bring the climax of this saga
to life on-screen. As fans of the series know, this is a one-of-a-kind
book - and we're hoping to create an equally unique cinematic
experience," said Bill Condon.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN illuminates the secrets and mysteries
of this spellbinding romantic epic that has entranced millions.

Condon is well known for writing and directing DREAMGIRLS, KINSEY, and
GODS AND MONSTERS, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Adapted
Screenplay in 1999. He was nominated for a second Oscar for his
screenplay for the movie musical CHICAGO in 2003. Most recently the
multi-hyphenate directed the pilot episode for the Showtime series

Gozde: I love Dreamgirls :) What do you guys think? Is it 1 movie or 2? Stephenie Meyer is the producer will that change anything? I think no it won't since she was probably always the queen bee, she just has more control now which in my opinion is a good thing since I love her to pieces and I LOVED Breaking Dawn. But Stephenie on the off chance that you are reading this: show me some SKIN on Isle Esme and I'll keep loving you forever and ever and ever :)

Twilight Breaking Dawn News – Sofia Coppola & Van Sant Asked To Direct?

EW is reporting that while we still don’t really know when or how (in terms of format–1 or 2 films) Breaking Dawn – the fourth chapter of the “Twilight Saga” – will arrive, we do know that Summit Entertainment is looking for a director. They are not at all aiming low or going for the obscure, as the three names being offered up are Sofia Coppola, Gus Van Sant, and Bill Condon. Only Van Sant has been confirmed to have actually been approached.

Back in September we showed you this video of Robert Pattinson naming Van Sant as someone he’d like to see helm Breaking Dawn.

Kristen Stewart actually confirmed that Van Sant had been approached in this talk with MTV

Christoph Waltz To Play Circus Nazi In "Water For Elephants" With Robert Pattinson

EXCLUSIVE: Hollywood is always looking for great villains. Now I’m told that Christoph Waltz, a frontrunner in the Best Supporting Actor race for his portrayal of the charmingly sadistic Col Hans Landa, will make a deal to star with Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson in Water for Elephants, the Richard LaGravanese-scripted adaptation of the Sara Gruen novel for Fox 2000. Francis Lawrence is directing. The role at first appeared to belong to Sean Penn who's been on a self-imposed big screen sabbatical, but the deal went south. Instead, Waltz will play the heavy in the Depression Era romantic triangle involving a veterinary medicine student (Pattinson) who joins a 2nd-rate travelling circus and falls for the star performer (Witherspoon). Waltz will play her husband, a dangerous paranoid schizophrenic animal trainer who is as mean to his wife as he is to the circus creatures. Gil Netter, Erwin Stoff and Andrew Tennenbaum are producing.

Waltz was a journeyman German TV actor when Quentin Tarantino cast him to play Col. Hans Landa, the charmingly sadistic and manipulative Nazi officer. It got him a Hollywood agent at ICM, and the chance to make Hollywood films. Pending a deal, this would be Waltz’s second studio role. He played the villain opposite Seth Rogen in The Green Hornet for Columbia Pictures.
