Jude Law Joining Robert Pattinson In Werner Herzog's 'Queen of the Desert'

Jude Law Joining Robert Pattinson In Werner Herzog's 'Queen of the Desert'

This is the news that QOTD Producer Cassian Elwes teased about on his twitter the other day.
And we're also getting the news that principal photography is scheduled to begin in Morocco in March 2013.
SO excited for this movie.

Photobucket

From The Hollywood Reporter

He'll star opposite Naomi Watts and Robert Pattinson in the biopic of Gertrude Bell, described as the female Lawrence of Arabia.

Adding another title to its arsenal, Sierra/Affinity will represent foreign rights to Werner Herzog's historical Gertrude Bell biopic Queen of the Desert.

Judd Law is joining the cast of the film, which headlines Naomi Watts as Bell and Robert Pattinson as T.E. Lawrence, otherwise known as Lawrence of Arabia.

Bell -- like Lawrence -- was an explorer, writer, archeologist and attaché for the British Empire, who is credited with helping to catalyze the formation of the Middle East at the dawn of the 20th century. She's often been referred to as the "female" Lawrence of Arabia.

Nick Raslan is producing via his Palmyra Films banner along with Cassian Elwes and Michael Benaroya. Benaroya's Benaroya Pictures banner will finance the film.

Sierra/Affinity will handle international sales and will make it available to buyers during this year's American Film Market.

"It is a great opportunity to be working with such acclaimed talent on such an important project. We look forward to seeing Werner Herzog make this exciting piece of history come alive for a global audience," Sierra/Affinity CEO Jude Law said.

Principal photography is scheduled to begin in Morocco in March 2013.

According To THR "Robert Pattinson's $12 Million Dior Fragrance Deal Is Just a Rumor"

So you may remember the other day that ENews released the exciting info that Robert Pattinson was the new face of Dior Men's Fragrance well now according To THR  Rob's $12 Million Dior Fragrance Deal is "Just a Rumor"

Photobucket

Here's what  The Hollywood Reporter had to say:

As a result of the massively successful Twilight Saga films, Robert Pattinson has transformed into a bigger star than he could ever have imagined.

And this week, it was widely reportedly by outlets including E!, The New York Daily News and USA Today that the young actor had landed a whopping $12 million dollar men's fragrance deal with Christian Dior. Gleefully, the press noted that Pattinson's deal had even topped Brad Pitt's reported paltry $7 million for his Chanel No. 5 ads.

But there is no fragrance contract. Not yet, at least.

The Dior international press office in Paris explained to The Hollywood Reporter Wednesday morning that the so-called "reports" were just rumors and that no contract has been signed. They had no further comments.

Calls to Pattinson's camp went unanswered.

There is no question that a fragrance deal may be in Pattinson's future. After all, his Twilight costar (and rumored on-again girlfriend) Kristen Stewart is already plugging the house of Balenciaga’s Florabotanica scent.

Should a deal come through for Pattinson, he would join the ranks of other A-list actors -- Jude Law, Charlize Theron and Natalie Portman -- who have endorsed Dior fragrances in the past. Marion Cotillard is also the face of Dior handbags

But it's worth noting that Pattinson has a closer relationship with Gucci than Dior. In fact, he loves Gucci so much that he wore their designs head-to-toe (the Signoria suit, white shirt, skinny black tie, leather belt and dress shoes) throughout his film Cosmopolis, as well as during the film's press tour.

"After I found out [from his agent] that Rob actually wore Gucci in real life, I looked at photos of him in their suits and that was the style I wanted for his character,” Cosmopolis costume designer Denise Cronenberg told THR. “Gucci is not something I have used before, but I think it’s smart to use a line that he has already worn."

Cronenberg also revealed that Pattinson kept all his Gucci suits from the film. "I didn't think he would because he has like 4,000 suits," she admitted.

When and if Pattinson ever does land a lucrative fragrance contract, we hope he isn't presented with a script that rambles nonsensically about dreams and destiny (see: Pitt's frequently parodied Chanel No. 5 ad).

SO what do you think? Were ENews premature with the big announcement?
Or does Rob really belong with Gucci instead of Dior afterall?

Thanks clarabelg1 for the tip !

Robert Pattinson's "The Rover" Sold In A Number Of Key Territories

UPDATE: Added Report from Indiewire below

Good news for Robert Pattinson's "The Rover". The Hollywood Reporter says that it has been sold in a number of key territories.
Check it out below......

Photobucket

The David Michôd-helmed drama, which also will star Guy Pearce has been sold in the United Kingdom, Canada and Benelux to eOne, Scandinavia to Nordisk, Latin America to Sun Distribution, the Middle East to Italia Film and Eastern Europe excluding Russia to Revolutionary Releasing. Village Roadshow already picked up the film in Australia and New Zealand.

FilmNation acquired the majority of worldwide sales rights to The Rover during the Cannes Film Festival in May and will continue to present the film to buyers at the Toronto International Film Festival. FilmNation is also handling U.S. sales with UTA.

Michôd, who became an in-demand director after the success of his debut Animal Kingdom, also wrote The Rover, which begins shooting in the winter and is based on a story he conceived with Joel Edgerton (Zero Dark Thirty, The Great Gatsby).

“We’ve had a great response from buyers so far,” FilmNation’s Glen Basner said. “David has emerged as an innovative filmmaker, generating much anticipation for his next film among both distributors and audiences worldwide.”

via RobPattzNews

From Indiewire:

David Michôd's "The Rover" is a hot ticket, not surprising given his knockout feature debut was 2009's "Animal Kingdom," and that he'll be directing Guy Pearce (also in "Animal Kingdom") and Robert Pattinson in the follow-up this winter. "The Rover" has secured several foreign pre-sales, including the UK, Canada and Benelux to eOne, Scandinavia to Nordisk, Latin America to Sun Distribution, the Middle East to Italia Film, and Eastern Europe (excl. Russia) to Revolutionary Releasing. Village Roadshow is also set for Australia and New Zealand. FilmNation picked up nearly all worldwide rights back in Cannes and will continue to shop the film in Toronto.

The Hollywood Reporter talks Robert Pattinson and the publicists who want him

The Hollywood Reporter talks Robert Pattinson and the publicists who want him

I liked this article because when Rob went on air at The Daily Show last week, joking about getting a publicist, I thought, "Lawd, and all the publicists in the world are emailing their resume and blowing up cell phones." Now a little is popping out that they just might be doing that.

Photobucket

From The Hollywood Reporter:
It was an innocent joke: "My biggest problem in life is, I'm cheap and I didn't hire a publicist," Robert Pattinson told Jon Stewart Aug. 13 on The Daily Show while promoting Cosmopolis amid the Kristen Stewart cheating hoopla. Sources tell THR the comment set off a mini-frenzy among top Hollywood publicity shops, many of which were salivating at the prospect that Pattinson -- who for years has gone without a personal PR rep -- might finally take one on.
The Twilight star's manager, Nick Frenkel, is said to have been inundated with phone calls and e-mails from firms including 42West, Sunshine Sachs and others seeking meetings to pitch press strategies for the 26-year-old star (and offering to slash fees). (Tink: I laughed. Rob forever extending Nick's job title. That's what friends are for. *singing sappy song for Rob and Nick*)
Frenkel declines comment, but one source says Pattinson still has no desire to add a publicist to his team. Notes one veteran rep: "He's actually doing really well on his own."
If people had doubts, last week definitely proved he's doing great without one. Rob's team was at their best and their star client shined brightly all on his own like he always has. Publicist? Robert Pattinson don't need no stinkin' publicist. ;)

Robert Pattinson's manager, Nicholas Frenkel, clarifies report on Twicon appearances for Breaking Dawn Part 2

Nick...always watching...always listening...

Photobucket

We mentioned HERE that Rob would not be attending the final Twilight convention in Los Angeles this fall. However, Rob's manager nonpublicist-publicist, Nick, had more to add.

Excerpt from The Hollywood Reporter:
According to Pattinson's manager Nicholas Frenkel, the truth is that "We have not canceled any confirmed professional appearances for Robert. Specifically, he was never invited or set to attend these events."
Wonder if Nick knew it was a competition between him, Dean and Stephanie on 44DoR today? Wanted to edge them out and beat them by reminding fandom he works hard for Rob. ;)

Rob's next scheduled appearance? Jimmy Kimmel this Wednesday! PromoRob's not done with us yet. :))

From THR:
LONDON - Actors, such as Daniel Radcliffe and Robert Pattinson, musicians, led by Adele, and models dominate the Young Rich List of British millionaires age 30 and under that "The Sunday Times" is scheduled to publish later this month.

Its Rich List 2012, set to come out on April 29, includes 60 young millionaires along with the 1,000 richest people in Britain and the 250 richest in Ireland, the paper said.
Outside of sports, which has its own Times rich list in May, more than half of the wealthiest young people in the U.K. are entertainers, according to the paper.

Twilight star Robert Pattinson saw a bigger $12.7 million gain in his net worth over the past year, but comes in second with $63.6 million.

Robert Pattinson going to Cannes? The signs continue to say YES!

Official word isn't until April 19th but The Hollywood Reporter is claiming inside scoop on an early peek at the line up. An excerpt:
An Early Peek at Cannes 2012 Films
Pitt and Pattinson are in while Gosling's a question mark as the festival comes together.
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have a date on the French Riviera. The official lineup of films selected for the 65th Cannes Film Festival won't be revealed until April 19, but the Twilight stars can book their flights because both have movies debuting at the fest, which kicks off May 16. Stewart's invite comes courtesy of On the Road, director Walter Salles' adaptation of the 1957 Jack Kerouac novel that defined the Beat generation, while Pattinson stars in David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis, the screen version of Don DeLillo's novel about a fateful day in the life of a wealthy financier.
Is anyone doubting at this point? My calendar is already cleared and....

Breaking Dawn - Part 2 trailer will debut in front of Hunger Games film

Excerpted from The Hollywood Reporter:
Lionsgate executives on Friday did much to talk up the synergies between the two studios now that the brain trust behind the Twilight franchise is at work on the launch of the next possible vampire flicks franchise once The Hunger Games debuts next month.

For example, the Breaking Dawn Part 2 trailer will debut on every Hunger Games print on its theatrical opening on March 23 – Lionsgate’s largest ever theatrical release.

Glamour UK Spotlights Bel Ami & Asks "Can Anyone Resist Robert Pattinson?" + Why Berlin Film Festival Still Matters

Glamour UK Spotlights Bel Ami & Asks "Can Anyone Resist Robert Pattinson?" + Why Berlin Film Festival Still Matters

Photobucket

Photobucket

Additionally, The Hollywood Reporter via BelAmiFilm, Rob is named an A-list star and Bel Ami is mentioned in an article titled, The Berlin Film Festival: Why It Still Matters for Hollywood:
The A-listers will be out in force, the films will go on to awards-season glory, and the European Film Market will be a dealmaking juggernaut when the 62nd annual showcase begins Feb. 9. Maybe it's the weather. Maybe it's the frigid Berlin winter that inspires critics to repeat the same bitter litany year after year about the Berlinale, that there are no stars, no good films, no new ideas.
Several wags called 2011's fest "the worst Berlinale ever." Really? A festival that included Wim Wenders' groundbreaking 3D documentary Pina, J.C. Chandor's furious financial drama Margin Call and the astounding Iranian film A Separation -- all of which picked up Oscar nominations on Jan. 24?
When the 62nd Berlinale opens Feb. 9, expect the critics to be just as disgruntled. And just as wrong. Berlin's broad, eclectic selection process makes it harder to pick which titles will be the big breakouts, but given the festival's track record, there will be some.
...
Festival director Dieter Kosslick has taken to combing the indie ranks for smaller features, often directorial debuts, with big-name casts. So this year, Berlin has the world premiere of Bel Ami, a period piece from first-timers Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod that counts Robert Pattinson, Christina Ricci, Uma Thurman and Kristin Scott Thomas among its A-list talent.

Who's Robert Pattinson's Favourite Rapper? The Hollywood Reporter Finds Out

Who's Robert Pattinson's Favourite Rapper? The Hollywood Reporter Finds Out

Robert Pattinson - The Hollywood Reporter Reviews "Remember Me"

Again - spoilers a plenty... read with care!

Bottom Line: A strong romantic drama in which Robert Pattinson and Emilie de Ravin really shine.

"Remember Me" is a smart, engaging drama about young love flourishing amid sadness and loss. The story ends on Sept. 11, 2001, in New York, which, depending on your point of view, further underscores the sense of loss implicit in the movie's title or is an unnecessary dramatic ploy to end the film with a devastating twist of fate that immediately connects with every audience member. But to return to the original point: "Remember Me" is a smart, engaging drama about a romance.

With the "Twilight" franchise's Robert Pattinson topping a fine cast -- the actor executive produces as well -- "Remember Me" should attract strong opening-weekend audiences. However, it will find its legs with women young and old who will spark to a romance without the off-color humor and male boorishness that so often accompanies romantic fare these days. Summit Entertainment can expect above-average boxoffice.

In an opening sequence 10 years earlier, a subway mugging turns violent as the World Trade Center's Twin Towers loom ominously in the distance, a dramatic foreshadowing that fortunately does not continue into the rest of the movie. But it does establish the suddenness of tragedy, especially as it affects two families at the center of the film.

Allen Coulter, directing a script by Will Fetters, then proceeds to unfold a story about two young people who share little in common except an inexplicable tragedy in each of their lives from which neither family has fully recovered.

Tyler (Pattinson) comes from Park Avenue comfort, but his brother's suicide has pulled a rug from underneath him. He is a lost soul, and it's not clear he is going to snap out of his funk anytime soon. His divorced father (Pierce Brosnan) has grown tired of his melancholy and disaffection, but his mother (Lena Olin) still has faith in him.

Tyler has two entirely different sources of succor: his kid sister (Ruby Jerins), whom he adores, and his roommate, Aidan (Tate Ellington), who has enough wild-man spirit to get Tyler out of his routine and into a few parties and bars. By the way, Tyler has a way with women.

Ally (Emilie de Ravin) is from a blue-collar family in Queens. Her father (Chris Cooper), a cop, clearly has not recovered from the murder of his wife. On the surface, Ally is less damaged, but one suspects she simply hides her pain better.

The cop and Tyler have a late-night encounter where Tyler's righteousness comes up violently against the cop's hardened weariness. Then, in the movie's one quasi-contrivance, Aidan discovers that the cop's attractive daughter shares a class with Tyler. He persuades his roomie into romancing then dumping the woman as a way to get back at her father.

Predictably, the first part works but not the second, where he is supposed to dump Ally. Instead, the two fall in love.

The movie doesn't make a big point out of the grief that overshadows their lives. It's implicit in their actions and manner. They bond in many ways, not the least of which are over fathers at a loss to meet their kids' emotional needs.

The scenes between Pattinson and de Ravin exude genuine charm. One wants these two to get together. They are likable without being saccharine.

The fathers are harder to read. In a decade, neither seems to have developed a coping mechanism, and Tyler's father's indifference toward his daughter is inexplicable.

Fate, in the form of 9/11, casts all of these character flaws and shortcomings into bold relief. This is, after all, a film of memory and loss. One imagines that any of these characters might be narrating the story years later as they seek to remember those final moments before their world so utterly changed.

The production is clean and polished, with Marcelo Zarvos' understated though persistent score and Jonathan Freeman's meticulous cinematography bringing notable sparkle to this heartfelt drama.

"The Hollywood Reporter" Q&A with Chris Weitz about New Moon

He briefly mentions Rob and we love Chris so.....

From "The Hollywood Reporter"

The man behind "American Pie" and "About a Boy" wasn't the obvious choice to take on "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," the second book in Stephenie Meyer's blockbuster teen vampire romance series. But Chris Weitz, who also writes and produces, sometimes with his brother Paul, had done a fantasy adaptation in 2007's "The Golden Compass" and felt a connection to the material. On Nov. 20, "Twilight" fans -- and Summit Entertainment, which is releasing the film -- will determine whether he was up to the task.

The Hollywood Reporter: Why did you want to do a "Twilight" movie?

Chris Weitz: The tonality of the movie, which has a lot to do with heartbreak and longing, depression and reunion and ecstasy -- these were emotions that struck a chord in me. I really loved the cast; Kristen (Stewart) and Rob (Pattinson) both are exceptionally talented. And I wanted to get my hand back in the game. There were a lot of things in this movie that I knew how to do: A combination of telling a character-based story but also handling special effects and working with young actors.
