Warner Bros is doubling down with its The Batman star Robert Pattinson as the studio, along with New Line Cinema, Warner Bros Television and HBO Max, have made an overall first-look production deal with him.
“Warner Bros Pictures and HBO have always been synonymous with groundbreaking filmmaking,” Pattinson said. “I’m thrilled to be working with them to discover the most exciting new voices in film and television and help bring their visions to life. I’ve loved working with the studio over the years and have so much respect for their dedication, their willingness to take chances and their desire to push the envelope creatively.”
The deal is for theatrical, SVOD (HBO Max) and WBTV properties. The deal represents the actor’s first foray into producing. “We have been incredibly impressed with Rob’s eye for identifying dynamic new filmmakers. Additionally, he is continually nurturing exciting story ideas into compelling screenplays. We are so excited that Warner Bros and New Line will be his home and that we get to benefit from his creative, commercial passions,” said Courtenay Valenti, President, Production and Development for Warner Bros Pictures, and Richard Brener, President & Chief Creative Officer of New Line Cinema. Pattinson is taking over the iconic title role in the upcoming The Batman, from director Matt Reeves. Warner Bros Pictures is expected to release the film on March 4, 2022. He was most recently seen in Christopher Nolan’s Tenet alongside John David Washington, Netflix’s The Devil All the Time and A24’s The Lighthouse from director Robert Eggers in which he starred opposite Willem Dafoe.FIRST LOOK: Robert Pattinson As Preston Teagardin In 'The Devil All The Time'

A24 Buy The North American Rights To Claire Denis' ‘The Stars At Noon’ With Robert Pattinson & Margaret Qualley
Deadline exclusive revealed today on twitter that A24 had bought the rights to Claire's 'The Stars At Noon' and that Rob's co-star would be Margaret Qualley
EXCLUSIVE: In a competitive situation on the eve of the EFM, @A24 has swooped on North American rights to one of the hot indie pics which has just dropped at the market https://t.co/YBq5AFjfvp— Deadline Hollywood (@DEADLINE) February 18, 2020
From Deadline
In a competitive situation on the eve of the European Film Market, A24 has swooped on North American rights to one of the hot indie pics that has just dropped at the market.
In a low-seven-figure deal, the blue-chip buyer has swooped on Claire Denis’ next movie, love story/thriller The Stars at Noon, which has her High-Life collaborator Robert Pattinson and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood breakout Margaret Qualley attached.
Set in 1984 during the Nicaraguan Revolution, the film follows a mysterious English businessman and headstrong American journalist who strike up a passionate romance. They soon become embroiled in a dangerous labyrinth of lies and conspiracies and are forced to try and escape the country, with only each other to trust and rely on.
The project is based on the 1986 novel by acclaimed U.S. writer Denis Johnson. Filmmaker Denis is adapting the novel with Lea Mysius and Andrew Litvack. It sounds like prime territory for the director after movies such as White Material and Beau Travail.

INTERVIEWS: Robert Pattinson talks to the NY Times, San Francisco Chronicle and more about The Lighthouse
Time for you to grab a cuppa (did I say that right, Kate?) and sit down with all these great Rob interviews! Also while gazing at the beautiful pictures!
Rob spoke with the New York Times, Datebook from the San Francisco Chronicle via the Datebook Podcast, and The Frame Podcast.
First up, an excerpt from the NY Times: What Can Robert Pattinson Do to Keep You Guessing?
After “Twilight,” the actor reinvented himself in art-house films. How will he follow “The Lighthouse” and his wildest role so far? With yet another swerve: He’s playing Batman.
Is it fair to say you’re drawn to eccentric characters?Click HERE to visit NYTimes and read the entire interview.
I’ve always thought that the only reason you’d want to play a good guy all the time is because you’re desperately ashamed of what you’re doing in real life, whereas if you’re a pretty normal person, the most fun part of doing movies is that you can explore the more grotesque or naughty sides of your psyche in a somewhat safe environment. And it’s always more fun if you’re shocking the people in the room. If you end up being boring, that’s the lowest of the low.
Do you think you’ve been boring before?
All the time. You can bore yourself! On “The Lighthouse,” I’d do two out of 17 takes that work, and on the other ones, I’d roll the dice in a different direction that leads me nowhere. But it’s more fun doing that than making a plan and sticking to it.
What was the first day of shooting “The Lighthouse” like?
Well, my first shot was this ferocious masturbation scene. It’s always nice to do something massive for your opening shot, and I went really massive on the first take. It was a 180 from everything we’d done in rehearsal, and I could see Robert [Eggers] a little in shock afterward. But I was like, “O.K., cool, I didn’t get told to stop, so I’ll keep going in that direction.” As soon as I’d done that, it was like the road started getting paved.
Now, an excerpt from SF Chronical's Datebook interview: Robert Pattinson recalls Stonestown mall riot and getting weird in ‘Lighthouse’
Q: I was worried you were going to lose more than a button seeing your physically demanding performance in “The Lighthouse.” How did you get to a place where you could portray that type of isolation and insanity?Click HERE to read the entire article.
A: The script was so kind of audacious, there were moments with things in it I’d never seen anything like it in any other script. You realize you had to take a kind of running jump to kind of even reach any of it. I’m attracted to scripts where you first read it, it’s very engaging and you feel, “Wow, this has got some kind of totemic qualities, something really primal and powerful about it.” And it’s also working with Willem, I’ve seen the amount of energy that Willem can bring to a performance, so I kind of knew that it was going to be an adversarial type of relationship.
Q: Did you and Willem do any kind of exercises to get to a place where you were comfortable enough to do some of these very physically intimate scenes?
A: We rehearsed for a week, Willem loves rehearsing and I really dislike it, which is kind of handy for our relationship. We did five days of rehearsing and I just found it to be the most incredibly stressful thing in the world. By the time we were shooting with each other, there was already this weird tension, it’s the opposite of what’s supposed to happen from rehearsals, normally it’s supposed to get people relaxed with each other. I love Willem, he’s such a lovely personable guy but there was this strange energy.
The interview was also recorded and posted on Datebook's podcast. You know you want to listen to Rob! Plus, they written version is edited. Unedited Rob is the BEST.

Getting ready to Partay
Robert Pattinson with his "deliciously wicked French accent" will "razzle-dazzle" us in The King
The King has premiered at the Venice Film Festival and oh boy is it exciting! First up, a new still of Rob looking very Robearrr-ish.
David Michôd shared more about casting Rob and the role he's playing during the press conference. We're going to have to wait an hour to see our guy but it seems like the wait will worth it.
Excerpt from The Hollywood Reporter, Venice: 'The King' Director Says He Cast Robert Pattinson to Add "Razzle-Dazzle":
Although all actors are in top form, at an early morning press screening in Venice, Pattinson stole the show from the moment he appeared onscreen. With his outlandish garb and foppish accent, Pattinson drew laughter and applause in his role as the Dauphin of France, serving as the perfect foe to Chalamet’s earnest Henry V.Excerpt from Vulture, The King Director Cast Robert Pattinson and His Wig for ‘Razzle-Dazzle’:
"I just had a feeling he would make it fun," said Michod. "I needed that. He is a supporting character. He doesn’t appear in the movie until an hour in. It was very, very important to me that when he did appear it was with razzle-dazzle."
Michod said that he and Edgerton did an enormous amount of research for the project. "And then we made a whole bunch of stuff up, too,” he said. “The upshot is I sit here now and I kind of honestly can’t remember what’s real, what’s made up and what’s from Shakespeare.”
He continued: "I think he was a bit of a dandy. I think he was quite a bit younger than Rob. Apparently he was hugely fat. Apparently it was historically true that Hal as king offered to fight him one-on-one to settle the score, probably knowing that his offer would be refused."
Michod, who cast Pattinson in his second film The Rover, praised the actor for his career decisions. "I loved working with him. I loved how inventive he was. I loved how hungry he was to make bold choices," said Michod. "I just had this feeling that he would love to sink his teeth into this character because it wasn’t like anything he’d done before."
Writer-director David Michôd delivers entertaining history with The King, his new Netflix movie about Henry V (Timothée Chalamet) and his ascendancy from partying teenager to warrior sovereign. At its Venice Film Festival premiere on Monday, Henry and his sparring partners snared some hearty gasps and laughs — particularly France’s Dauphin, an arrogant and ridiculous prince who provides a steady stream of comedy. A bewigged Robert Pattinson plays the preening, over-dressed Gallic dandy. “I like speaking English,” he sneers in character. “It is a simple, ugly language.”
“I just had a feeling he [Pattinson] would make it fun,” Michôd told the standing-room only Sala Perla 2 press conference. “I needed that. He is a supporting character. He doesn’t appear in the movie until an hour in. It was very, very important to me that when he did appear it was with razzle-dazzle.”Here's a part of the press conference on video with David chatting about Rob and contains some of the quotes above.

The folks who saw the film are also singing Rob's praises:
David Michôd's #TheKing, a rousing adaptation of Shakespeare's iconic play, features a remarkable & committed #TimotheeChalamet, in a performance that rivals that of Kenneth Branagh. And #RobertPattinson steals the show as eccentric Dauphin of Viennois.#Venezia76 pic.twitter.com/0oXevUjGGy— International Film Critique (@IntFilmCritique) September 2, 2019
Robert Pattinson’s appearance in #TheKing drew delighted laughter from the audience this morning. Most of us weren’t expecting to see him and his deliciously wicked French accent and spoilt royal brat performance was an added bonus. He looked as if he was enjoying the role too. pic.twitter.com/mtIvmPSN7E— It's a lawyer's life (@itsalawyerslife) September 2, 2019
The King was good. Timothee Chalamet stays just the right side of Joffrey and is actually a pretty convincing and *hot* knight. Robert Pattinson got a few laughs as a creepy French prince. All pretty conventional but fans will love it, I’m sure. #venezia76 pic.twitter.com/vZqdTUm7vj— James Jones (@jamesjonesfilm) September 2, 2019
#Venezia76 #TheKing All hail Michod, he knew what he was doing here. Chalamet starts pleasantly like Kirsten Dunst in Marie Antoinette, then he brings shady sharpness to the role without losing that vibrant alien seductivity. Pattinson with his French debauchery is hilarious.— Lorenzo Ciorcalo (@rotovisor) September 2, 2019
The King will be in US theaters Oct. 11th and on Netflix Nov. 1st.

VIDEO INTERVIEW: Robert Pattinson & Mia Goth Talk 'High Life'
Danny Boyle on Robert Pattinson: "They should get him to be the next Bond."
This is fun chatter. Let's give all the big roles to Rob! I'm on board with this plan.
Danny Boyle, speaking to The Guardian about his upcoming film Yesterday and then addressing his attempt at a Bond film, got a little ROBsessed and correctly shared the following insight:
He insists he has put Bond behind him and no doubt that is true. But every now and then he is reminded of the bruising. Last month he went to see Claire Denis’s High Life and was especially taken by Robert Pattinson’s performance. “And it was so bizarre, because I was sitting there thinking: ‘Oh my God, they should get him to be the next Bond.’” Isn’t Pattinson a bit too young for the role? “No, no,” he scoffs. “He must be in his 30s. How old was Connery? He’s ready now.”Now, there's no way this could happen. Buuuuuut...didn't we think that with superhero movies? Would you have placed money on a bet that had Rob become the next Batman?? Hope springs eternal!
