Little Ashes Screening...Brings out the Mustaches

By now, most of you are probably familiar with “Little Ashes,” the small independent film that Robert Pattinson shot months before he embarked on his star-making “Twilight” experience. In the movie, Pattinson plays famed painter Salvador Dalí who, according to “Little Ashes,” engaged in a homosexual relationship with poet Federico García Lorca (disputed by Dalí in real life).

To his credit, Pattinson went full out on the role, even adopting the artist’s iconic mustache, which has now become as talked about as the film itself. And that brings us to Out Magazine’s screening of “Little Ashes” here in New York City this week. As you’ll see…they did a little something special to pay tribute to Pattinson. New How To Be Interview

USA Today "Robert Pattinson is Hotter Than Brad Pitt...."

Celeb Heat Index: Pattinson reaches the peak of hotness

By Lorena Blas, USA TODAY
Robert Pattinson is hotter than Brad Pitt this week.
After a steady rise, the 22-year-old Twilight star has hit No. 1 on USA TODAY's Celebrity Heat Index, which measures media exposure. Pattinson is only half of the centerpiece cover image on the current issue of OK! and made No. 1 only on PopSugar.com's list of top stories, but he makes enough appearances in other outlets (TV, online and print) to put him ahead of the pack for the first time.

THE LIST: See who else was hot this week
Pattinson was No. 3 on the index for April, and USA TODAY noted that his star was on the rise as photos from the set of the Twilight sequel, New Moon, began circulating.

And if paparazzi shots weren't enough, Entertainment Tonight aired official behind-the-scenes video from the set on TV and online.
Tabloids have remained fixated on Pattinson's relationships with co-stars and possible romantic interests.

Rounding out the top 10 this week: Brad Pitt, Pattinson's New Moon co-star Kristen Stewart, TLC reality stars Jon and Kate Gosselin, Kirstie Alley, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston, Elizabeth Edwards and Ryan and Trista Sutter (tie).

Rob wins 4TNZ Hottie Tournament

Are we surprised? Ermmm NO! Our boy rocks.
This from the source

"The winner of our first annual 4TNZ March Madness Hottie Tourney, with 7825 votes is...

America's hottest (and coldest!) vampire, Robert Pattinson!R-Patz beat out Nick Jonas, 58% to 42%.

The JoBro put up a brave effort, but seriously, it's tough to "out hot" the British blood sucker."

The Daily 10 (5-6-09)

Oh sweet God at one point they joke about how Rob mentioned having a "penile implant" for certain Little Ashes scenes...CRACKING ME UP!

Again why we love Rob so much.

Ashley Greene: Rob likes being pretty & Spoiler of NM Filming

Thanks again for all the wonderful Birthday wishes. You all rule my world :) You and Robert Pattinson. I'm off to go get drunk and go dancing now. See ya all tomorrow ;)

Love, Gozde

From OK! Magazine:

OK!: How does Alice change in the sequel?
My character’s going to be a good 60 percent bigger in the second film. You get to see the development between Alice, Bella and Edward.

OK!: Does Robert have any problems with putting on that vampire makeup?
He likes being pretty [laughs]! No, I think any guy [actor] is kind of like, eh. But it’s part of the job.

OK!: How do you spend time off the set?
There’s a street in Vancouver called Robson, where we jam with people who play instruments. I’m going to take up guitar, because Jackson [Rathbone], Nikki [Reed], Kristen [Stewart] and Rob [Pattinson] all play guitar and sing.

OK!: Is the cast very close?
Yeah, you create this intense bond with these people. It’s really natural.

OK!: How is Robert handling being the world’s most desirable man?
Rob’s always like, “I don’t belong here, what’s going on?” He’s not the most sociable. He’s not one of those people who can go and talk to anyone. He’s kind of a hermit and a little awkward. He got thrust into this limelight, but he’s dealing with it. I think it’d be kind of difficult for anyone.

OK!: It’s been rumored that Rob had a crush on Kristen. Is that why he’s not dating?
I think he’s loving being single. He’s pretty much one of the most eligible bachelors out there right now. So if he was sad before [about Kristen], I think that he’s all right now.

OK!: Does Kristen stay in touch with her boyfriend, Michael Angarano?
I know that she cares about him a lot and they have a great relationship. On the last film, he would hang out often.

You can read the rest of the interview at the source :)

Oh and LAiMEy(puke!) has this bit of spoiler about the New Moon filming:

As I’ve already reported, yesterday’s scenes involved the Volturi and Carlisle in a flashback explaining what happens to vampires who break the rules. Then they reject Edward’s request.

Edward is hurled in the air, tossed against a wall when he attempts to protect Bella. Am pretty sure in the book his torture consisted of him writhing on the floor in pain. Obviously, visually, the throwing is much more spectacular, requiring much less emphasis on, um, Robert Pattinson’s facial expressions. Every time he was hurting in the first movie, he looked like he wanted to poo. Oh hush Twi-hards. It was the direction! (Gozde: Oh how I hate thee...)

Also on sched: Aro is convinced to release Bella, Edward, and Alice because he sees the vision.

Thanks to Jen from The Twilight Times for the tip ;)

Robert Pattinson's New Project: Bel Ami?

According to the French newspaper Lyon Plus, Rob will be in Paris for 3 months at the end of the summer to shoot a new movie which is the adaptation of the novel Bel-Ami written by Maupassant. ( Thanks to Kpucine for the scan and the translation ;))

Gozde:

There have been several reports on this, one of them being from the mouth of Rob himself at the interview we posted (here) a couple of days ago. (Update: Yes, the timing sounds fishy since Rob says "next year" in his interview but this is a RUMOR anyways. We'll let you know when something is set ;))

Bel Ami is a novel written by French Author Guy de Maupassant in 1885. It The story chronicles Georges Duroy's corrupt rise to power from a poor ex-NCO to one of the most successful men in Paris, most of which he achieves by manipulating a series of powerful, intelligent, and wealthy mistresses.(Read more HERE)

Bel-Ami was made into films and mini series before. You can check Guy de Maupassant imdb page for more info.

Rob is going to be a busy bee for the next years to come and for that he deserves a lot of lap dances ;))

Little Ashes Reviews

Ever since I had to sit through the highly praised but horrific movies like Spartan, Team America: World Police (what the HELL was that?) and Lost in Translation (it really was lost in translation for me and I usually LOVE that kind of movies) I stopped reading movie reviews or taking them seriously. Little Ashes Movement - Day 30!

We are on Day 33! :))

Little Ashes Love

Hi guys,

I wanted to share this comment from Alayne because I think it represents the love and dedication people have for Rob and his work. It shows why Little Ashes Movement worked. Maybe it's the birthday blues, maybe it's waking up to a love fest by all of you but I was really touched and had tears when I read it. (Thanks for all the BDay wishes;))

I am not encouraging you to follow Alayne's advice nor am I discouraging. I am however encouraging all of you to go to the cinemas tomorrow, Saturday or Sunday to see Little Ashes, I wish I could ;)

Here is Alayne's message unedited ;)

GODZE (love your blog), I would love your opinion and the opinion of the wonderful ROBsessors on this thought I have. I live in Wilmington NC and Little Ashes is not playing this weekend anywhere even close to where I live but I want to support the movie, especially on this opening weekend. So I was thinking of purchasing tickets to a showing, via Fandango, at a theater that is showing it in another state. Obviously I won't be able to use the tickets but atleast my purchase of the tickets would go towards the opening weekend "stats". I am just concerned that my purchasing the tickets would keep someone else from seeing the movie (if it sells out). I thought of purchasing the tickets last minute to either a early matine or really late night showing.... what do you think. I really want to support this movie and Rob and am so frustrated that I can't do it locally.

Also, it is driving me crazy as I look at what is playing at any theater within 400 miles of my home this weekend to try and find Little Ashes and I keep seeing 17 Again and Hannah Montana ARGGGHHH... makes me want to rip my eyes out... hehe

Any opinions and thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Windy City Times Interview with Javier Beltran

Javier speaks of the more "intimate" scenes with Rob in a snip from a recent interview.

WCT: How does it feel to be the envy of millions of teenage girls and gay boys, sharing love scenes with Robert Pattinson?

JB: I don't know. [ laughs ] I'm just very happy to have worked with Robert—to have shared this project with him—and I'm very happy for him for his success.

WCT: Can you talk about filming the love scenes with him? Both of you have said they were painful physically to film—really?

JB: The scenes were very intense. It was very difficult to express since they were very intense emotions in these scenes with what was happening with the two individuals. But I was very comfortable doing the scenes because the crew and Robert were very supportive. I was happy how they came out in the movie.
Check out the source HERE for the full interview.

From Edward Cullen to Salvador Dali

Robert Pattinson sheds "Twilight" image in film

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - "Twilight" fans fell in love with Robert Pattinson as a vampire who makes girls swoon. But in "Little Ashes," which opens on Friday, the actor explores a relationship that could reshape his heartthrob image.

Pattinson, who turns 23 this month, plays surrealist painter Salvador Dali at a youthful stage in his life when he had a sexually charged relationship with poet Federico Garcia Lorca.

Pattinson took the role long before he became a sensation with legions of adoring, young female fans captivated by his portrayal of vampire Edward Cullen in last year's global box office smash, "Twilight."

Industry watchers say the success of the movie, based on a popular book series by author Stephenie Meyer, was largely due to girls imagining they -- not the film's heroine Bella Swan -- were being wooed by the fanged Cullen.(Gozde: They don't have FANGS dammit! :))

Pattinson, who has said he is straight, told Reuters he doesn't believe "Twilight" fans will think differently of him for his character's sexuality in "Little Ashes."

"I don't really mind either way," Pattinson said of his movie choices. "I'm not really trying to appeal to anyone in particular."(Gozde: And that is why we are ROBsessed :) Don't ever try...)

The British actor said the romance between Cullen and Swan somewhat resembles the attraction between Dali and Lorca in "Little Ashes."

"In a lot of ways, the storyline is similar to 'Twilight.' It's about two people who, for various different hangups and terrible insecurities, can't in any way consummate their relationship," Pattinson said.

AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER?

Made with backing from companies in Britain and Spain, "Little Ashes" shows Dali forming a bond with Lorca (Javier Beltran), and evolving from a quiet student to the famously eccentric artist with his long, pencil-thin mustache.

Dali and Lorca kiss and swim in the moonlight, but the painter eventually spurns Lorca's advances.

In 1969, the painter told an interviewer that he had rebuffed Lorca's attempt at a sexual affair.

"I was extremely annoyed, because I wasn't homosexual, and I wasn't interested in giving in," Dali said at the time.

Yet the film portrays him as a willing, if emotionally conflicted, participant. Dali died in 1989 after a decades-long marriage to Gala, who served as his muse.

Cooper Lawrence, author of "The Cult of Celebrity," said Pattinson is an icon to young women because he seems like the perfect boyfriend.

"He's edgy but not too edgy, he's someone you can still bring home to mom, but he's a little down and dirty so you think he's cool. And he's so nonthreatening, and that's a big part of it," she said.

Many of his fans may not get a chance to see "Little Ashes" because initially it will screen in a limited number of theaters, mostly in big cities.

Amanda Seyfried to Star with Rob? We think NO

The above picture has nothing to do with this post but it's HQ and you can see his mipples so I thought I'd slip it in :))

Onto business:

LAiMEy Gossip claims:

Amanda Seyfried will reportedly begin work soon on Remember Me costarring Robert Pattinson with whom she presented at the Oscars a couple months ago. Cute. They looked great together, even though he seemed like he wanted to die.

Gozde: *Takes a deep breath* Well, I am calling this rumor: WRONG. But since LAiMEy always gets her rumors from....(God knows where... little birds? Her tush? ) it is not surprising that she'd be wrong.

This rumor started when screendaily.com reported this:

Summit Entertainment is presenting four new titles to buyers at Cannes this year including two new Summit productions - a romantic drama starring Twilightsensation Robert Pattinson and a generational love story set in Italy starring Amanda Seyfried.

You can read the rest of the story HERE where it talks about the 2 DIFFERENT movies that Rob and Amanda will star in.

Paul Morrison: Rob felt so much more a Dali – the combination of acute intelligence, vulnerability and self-consciousness

That was a LONG title eh? :))

Amanda Bell - The Twilight Examiner had the chance to interview Little Ashes director Paul Morrison. Here are some parts but you should read the whole article. It's very good :)

“We made it in the spirit of . . . just need[ing] to make this film, it’s crying out to be done, without expectations of what will happen to it,” says Paul Morrison, director of Little Ashes about his film. “But I’ve been around long enough to know it’s when you least expect it that good things can happen.”

Little Ashes (which will be released this Friday, May 8, in the United States)(Gozde's note: It is released in UK and Spain as well. For the list of theaters check HERE and HERE:)) has been met with great anticipation. Starring Robert Pattinson, Javier Beltran, Matthew McNulty, and Marina Gatell, the film will present an ephemeral biopic of the life of Salvador Dali – a Spanish artist whose art, some say, is impossibly well done.

As a director, Paul Morrison is known for his work in Wondrous Oblivion, Solomon and Gaenor, and Degas and Pissarro Fall Out. With Little Ashes nearing release, however, his name has practically become house hold.

I had the pleasure of interviewing the thoughtful and intellectual Mr. Morrison, and, after doing so, I am convinced that he is right, “good things can happen” – and to the right sort of people.

About what brought Morrison to the Little Ashes picture, he says it was “[a] great screenplay.” Continues Morrison, it’s “an intimate human story of these three or four people’s relationships at an extraordinary moment in history of social and artistic ferment. Plus, it was about these three exceptional artists, at least one of whom was a hero of mine.”

skipped

For Lorca and Dali, I must have seen every up-and-coming young actor who was available in both Spain and the U.K. Originally, Rob read for Lorca, and I was going to cast Dali in Spain. But Rob felt so much more a Dali – the combination of acute intelligence and vulnerability and self-consciousness that the part demanded – that I switched, and brought him back to read for Dali. He was perfect. I never saw anyone in Spain who felt right for Dali, by the way.

skipped

Still, there were good days and bad days on set. A “perfect day,” says Morrison, “was shooting the scene where Bunuel comes upon Dali and Lorca in a clinch in Lorca’s room. Nice and contained, funny, and brilliant performances, and time enough to get all the shots I wanted, and think of some others.” Continues he, it was “also very magical to shoot in Cadaques in the little bay which was Dali’s favourite, and to know that he had stood on the same rocks with Lorca eighty years before. . .” An “awful day,” says Morrison, “was shooting the aunt’s dinner party where we had a lot of Spanish press and TV around, trying to present a front of professional calm to the, but the actors were 5 hours getting through make-up, and I was screaming with impatience as we were left with only two hours to shoot the big scene.”

skipped

With Twilight and How To Be star Robert Pattinson in the cast, and with his recent successes outside of Little Ashes, his fame is bringing a lot to the table for the release of this picture. About that, Morrison says, “I don’t follow it very closely, but mostly it has been great for us.” On the other hand, “where Rob has been misconstrued,” says Morrison, “and seemed to be putting down our movie when that wasn’t what he intended,” it can be irritating. Though, says Morrison, “I’m delighted for Rob for his success, and delighted, too, that he will draw a new audience to the movie. The fans of his who have seen it so far, who I’ve spoken to, seem very positive.”

“Timely Look”: Interview with Oliver Irving, director of How to Be

Less than 2 weeks until we unfortunate souls that couldn't see the movie in theaters get to see How To Be on DVD.Can't wait! :))

Very refreshing interview (not all questions are about his RobArtness) from popmatters.com with How To Be director Oliver Orving:

When Oliver Irving began writing How To Be in 2004, he couldn’t know that when the film finally premiered at Slamdance four years later, his timing would be so fortuitous. Irving’s first feature film follows Art, a 20something aspiring musician in the midst of a “quarter-life crisis.” Now, following the release of Twilight, the casting of Robert Pattinson as Art looks brilliant. Irving made the rounds on the festival circuit with sold-out screenings and a cache of audience awards (including an Honorable Mention at Slamdance, Best Feature at New Orleans, and Best Actor for Pattinson at the Strasbourg International Film Festival).

The film is also timely in its subject matter. In a season of too many arrested development male-bonding comedies, How to Be offers a version suffused with a wry charm. Picked up by IFC Films in February, the movie screened at the IFC Center in New York in April and premiered on IFC Festival Direct on 29 April.

The festival schedule for How to Be grew leading up to the IFC release, with more and more sold out shows.
I’ve been really touched by the strong positive response to this film. It has been amazing, the support we have had. That is why we took the bold step of booking our own cinemas, so we could tour around, screening the film and try to see as many people as possible.

You’ve watched the film with multiple festival audiences. Has the reception changed from last winter to this?
When it first screened, it did have a really good response. What has changed is the numbers of people in the audience. Some people have seen it several times as well, so members of the audience are really starting to be familiar with the characters and even coining catchphrases in some instances, which is great. I love hearing the laughter during the film, I really do; it makes it all worth it.

How to Be sold out its first screening at the DC Independent Film Festival in March. Before the session began, the director of one of the accompanying short films made the joke that he was shocked so many people wanted to see his film. What do you think about droves of Robert Pattinson fangirls turning up at an independent film festival?
Every so often, someone will love the movie and not have even really heard of Rob and that is reaffirming. But then, often people will say, “I came because of Rob, but I loved this film in its own right.” I can tell from what they say that their response is really genuine, so I am just glad that Rob’s star factor has brought in potential audiences. We have found that actually one of the groups of people who responded favorably to the film turned out to be the same as those who might be fans of Rob—so it was the right audience to start with. I’m glad the film won the Grand Jury Honorable mention at Slamdance long before Rob’s stardom flared up. That eases my neuroticism somewhat.

The DCIFF program describes the movie as “a timely look at the increasingly growing phenomena of grown-up children living at home, frustrated creativity, and self-help.” Is that their take on it or yours?
It comes from our synopsis. But it is interesting to hear different people’s opinions as to what the film is really about. I love that everyone seems to take away a different particular element.

Kellan Talks About Rob Flipping Him off....I think

The video made me quite incoherent but I THINK Kellan talks about the scene where Rob flips him off....

Umm, lucky girl.... Wow :)

Thanks to lella75 for the link

What a Load of Crap - Number 2

Well, what they report here is probably true but still the magazine is a crappy tabloid and there is NO way in hell the movie is going to be better than the book.(Sorry Rob, it's not you it's me :) The heart break on the blank pages with only the months in New Moon just can not be translated in a movie)

After deeming the 20-minute Sage & the Dills concert at Vancouver hot spot Metropole too short for his taste, an enchanted Robert Pattinson invited the band and his fellow New Moon co-stars, including Kristen Stewart, back to his hotel for an impromptu jam session on April 18.

As Robert, who plays dreamy vampire Edward Cullen, strummed his guitar, on-screen sibling Jackson Rathbone (Jasper) played harmonica while their big-screen sister Nikki Reed (Rosalie) added lyrics she had practiced onstage earlier that evening while serenading cast mate Taylor Lautner.

“We just got really creative,” lead singer Sage tells OK! of the intimate hotel-room session, which sounded like a mix of old-school rock and country as well as Van Morrison, Robert’s favorite rocker. “Everything blended together really well.” (Gozde: Sage sure likes to talk to the gossip rags doesn't she?Previously by Sage HERE)

Whether they’re making music or shooting Twilight sequels, the tight-knit cast of the vampire series works — and plays — as a true team. “It is weird that the minute we all met, it felt like family,” Kellan Lutz, who stars as Edward’s bloodsucker brother Emmett, tells OK!. “The first day we got on set, a lot of us felt like we’d always been related.”

But that hasn’t stopped Kellan, 24, from clobbering Robert when the cameras are rolling. While working on a scene in which their bodies collide, the actors learned that they have differing methods for stunt work — high school football star Kellan actually knocked the wind out of Robert.

“He didn’t think I’d actually nail him, but that’s what the script said I was supposed to do,” explains Kellan. “I didn’t go out of my way to hurt him, but there is Rob, trotting along, and bang!”

But on-set mishaps haven't changed anyone's feelings about the New Moon shoot, says Ashley Greene, who plays Alice Cullen.

“The first one, we all had no idea what we were getting ourselves into,” she tells OK!. “We all have our bearings now, and it is more fun and less stressful."

Twilight Guys Talk About Rob and a Bit of Other Things ;)

Poor guys, it must be so frustrating! It is so funny how the interviewer asks about Rob by disguising it as "People ask you questions about Rob don't they?" :) The whole interview is about Rob.

Thanks to Rocio and Carolina for the link :)

What a Load of Crap (yet I'm intrigued :))

New Cover of Star Magazine. Rob caught with a sexy dancer! (Gasp!) :))

Okay I'm taking bets. Who thinks there is NO picture just a load of "according to a source" bull crap? (Jumps up and down with hand in the air!)

And is it wrong that I DO hope it's true? That just sounds SEXY.

He is 22 years old he deserves lots of lap dances:))

Candid of Rob and Kristen at Sam's concert 05/02/2009

Here is another candid of Rob from Sam's Gewa Project Concert:

From people.com:

• They may have been watching covertly from a side door – but Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner were definitely excited at the Sam Bradley Band show at Richard's On Richards in Vancouver. (Gozde: Umm, wrong! Taycob wasn't there.) The Twilight stars smiled throughout the 90-minute gig, and Stewart even popped out from her perch to snap some pictures. When the show was over, the stars snuck out a back door and headed to the Opus Hotel where they partied in a suite upstairs with some friends – and even got a late-night pizza delivery.

The movie is playing in lots of theaters now, thanks to YOU, check out the list (HERE) to see if it's playing near you. We need those theaters PACKED on the release day and that weekend! How the movie does on its first weekend is extremely important as it will be the deciding factor for other theaters to acquire the movie :) Since you are all ROBsessed I probably don't need to sell you the movie but if you have any doubts check out Little Ashes Videos :)

YES WE CAN

What is The Little Ashes Movement?

It's a fan movement. We provided a list of theaters(HERE) including the theaters that are already scheduled to play Little Ashes. If it's not playing at a theater near you you need to call and request Little Ashes from the theater listed. If we do not have a theater listed for you then leave us a comment with the name and number of the theater and we'll update the list the next day.

It's as simple as that. We made it happen at a lot of theaters in US. Theaters left us messages saying "okay don't call anymore we ARE scheduling the movie" :)

YOU can make it happen. If there is a number we've listed in your area call and ask them if they will be showing Little Ashes, if they say no then politely ask them to look into it since it's a great movie with Robert Pattinson and you and tons of other people would really love to see it.

How do I know if the theaters on your list is showing Little Ashes or if it's a request line?

Unless there is a SCORE next to the movie theater or you see your theater on the Little Ashes Schedule page the number and theater listed is not playing Little Ashes. It's a theater that we've listed so you and other fans can call and request the movie :)

Is it only for US?

No. We now have Australia, Austria, Canada,Germany, India, Ireland, Mexico, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, United Kingdom and United States on our list!

Thanks to Robert Pattinson Australia, Little Ashes Promotional Blitz, RobPattzNews,RPOdotcom, Amber from Eyes of Amber for their support :)
