First look at Robert Pattinson in the Good Time trailer

First look at Robert Pattinson in the Good Time trailer

Directed by Josh and Benny Safdie
Starring Robert Pattinson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Barkhad Abdi, and Benny Safdie
Following the mind-bending Heaven Knows What, celebrated filmmakers Josh and Benny Safdie return to the mean streets of New York City with Good Time, a hypnotic crime thriller that explores with bracing immediacy the tragic sway of family and fate.
After a botched bank robbery lands his younger brother in prison, Constantine "Connie" Nikas (Robert Pattinson) embarks on a twisted odyssey through the city's underworld in an increasingly desperate—and dangerous—attempt to get his brother Nick (Benny Safdie) out of jail. Over the course of one adrenalized night, Connie finds himself on a mad descent into violence and mayhem as he races against the clock to save his brother and himself, knowing their lives hang in the balance.
Anchored by a career-defining performance from Robert Pattinson, Good Time is a psychotic symphony of propulsive intensity crafted by two of the most exciting young directors working today. Josh and Benny Safdie’s transcendent vision is an intoxicating portrait of desperation and destruction that will not be soon forgotten.

Josh Safdie and Claire Denis share gracious words and funny stories about Robert Pattinson with Les Cahiers du Cinéma (France)

image hostPAW snatched up a copy of Les Cahiers du Cinéma and posted two great interviews that mentioned Rob. First up is from the upcoming Good Time directors, Josh and Benny Safdie. Josh is speaking in this excerpt and has one of those great Rob tidbits to share (are you googling the toilets?) and then of course has nothing but awesomeness to share about Rob's work ethic.

The second interview is from Claire Denis regarding High Life, one of Rob's films in pre-production. She too has kind words to share but also notes something Josh mentioned - Rob is a go-getter. We pretty much know this already from Rob's admission but I love reading it from these directors he admires. Especially Denis. She doesn't realize he's had her name on his lips for yeeeears. That's one of Rob's bucket list directors and I think it's inspiring he was unwavering in what he desired professionally.

The Safdie Brothers talk about Rob and Good Time (excerpt):

LCDC: We are one month away from the festival: is the film complete?
Josh: Almost: Oneohtrix Point Never made the music, and for the end they wanted a song en interaction with the film. We asked Iggy Pop, and he sings an incredible song in the style of Johnny Cash. Do you know how I learned we were in competition? Six months ago I was in Los Angeles at Robert Pattinson's house. He has Japanese toilet that blows hot air. I had never experienced such a thing ... I loved it so much that Robert said to me: if we go in competition, I buy you the same. And we were invited out of competition. Six hours before the press conference, we had a meeting to find out if we were really out of competition, because at the same time we were invited to La Quinzaine, and Rob was trying to contact me over and over again, but i was at this meeting, and suddenly he sent me a text message with a photo of the toilet! Thierry Frémaux had just announced him we were in competition. I was extremely surprised! It was extraordinary.
...
LCDC: This is the first time you work with a star.
Josh: Pattinson is English, and the actors around him come from the world of the film. He spent five months working on his character. He doesn't have the experience of this life. I wrote him a biography from the day he was born to the first minutes of the film. We wanted to shoot into the streets, but wherever we went, people wanted to take a picture of him. We developed the appearance of his character so that nobody recognizes him. But he is so professional! He is never complaining. It's him who contacted us. He had seen a picture of Mad Love in New York on the Internet, he asked to see the movie, he saw it, and told us: whatever you want me to do, I will do it.

Claire Denis talks Rob and getting High Life going:

LCDC: What about your science fiction project?
Claire Denis: It's a SF project, but in my own way, very software (laughs)! (...) I'm strarting the preparation in a few weeks. It's an English-language movie that will be filmed in Germany. (...) It takes place in the space, not on Earth. This is a project I have had in my mind for the last fifteen years. At the time I thought of Vincent Gallo to play the leading role but the producers are often afraid of him. One day Robert Pattinson contacted the person who was doing the English casting. I was intrigued but I tought he was too young. Every time I went to London to meet some actors, he was there. His desire to work with me has never faltered. And now he is a little less young and it's perfect.
LCDC: He is one of those actors whose we can feel the intelligence when they play.
Claire Denis: Yes, absolutely. He has a lot of humor too. I tought it was so strange that this young man wanted so much to work with me when he could do whatever he wanted. I was almost embarrassed. But his unwavering envy and our mutual recognition have done their work.

NEW PICS: Robert Pattinson Celebrates His 31st Birthday In LA With FKA Twigs & Friends (13th May)

How blessed are we that we are getting photos of Rob out celebrating his birthday and look how happy he looks!

image host image host image host image host image host

From Popsugar:
Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs have been keeping a low profile as of late, but on Saturday, the couple resurfaced to ring in Rob's 31st birthday. The engaged pair, who first got together in August 2014, were photographed showing some sweet PDA at Akasha restaurant in LA. The two looked absolutely smitten with each other as they shared a few laughs and hugs throughout the night. At one point, Rob even planted a sweet kiss on Twigs's forehead. The last time these two hit a red carpet together was at the London premiere of Rob's film, The Lost City of Z, in February, though they were spotted out on a jog with their dog in Malibu, CA last week.

Robert Pattinson gives his two cents on rising distribution star, A24 (The Rover, Good Time)

Robert Pattinson gives his two cents on rising distribution star, A24 (The Rover, Good Time)

UPDATE: I missed these other remarks from Rob in the article! That's criminal :( He gave way more than 2 cents. I should have known. He's such a giver :))
Better late than never:
Pattinson: I mean, with Twilight, the first tour we did was literally going to suburban shopping malls and doing local-news stuff. And I think that really helped the movie. But I think in experiences since then, doing mid-budget or relatively low-budget movies, if you try to do a toned-down version of that—I’ve just seen it not work, again and again and again. And so with [The Rover], they took that into account, and instead of blowing loads of money, [they did] more targeted marketing and also really sophisticated online campaigns and stuff. They just seem like they’re the first company that’s really abandoned a lot of the old models.

Pattinson: They’re definitely the place to be now. I mean, I have no idea what they’re doing, really. They’re just on it. They have a very good understanding of the Zeitgeist. You get a movie with them and it represents something. Everybody was talking a few years ago how cinema had died. And I think A24 and companies like that are—you know, people want to go to the cinema. People want to see movies. And I think they’re creating a kind of renaissance in filmmaking. They’re making people want to go to the cinema again to see this kind of stuff, rather than staying at home. People had thought that entire part of the industry had just died. And you can really see over the past few years, it really, really hasn’t at all. And I think it is down to companies like A24.

Rob has a film back in the hands of A24 with Good Time, coming to the US this summer and premiering this month at the Cannes Film Festival, in competition! The distribution company brought The Rover to the screen back in 2014 and they snatched up Good Time last fall. The company has also had recent success winning Best Picture for their film Moonlight at a little known award show called The Oscars. ;)

GQ profiled A24 in an article titled How A24 is Disrupting Hollywood and spoke to some folks that have worked with them about their thoughts on the company's rise. Rob, of course, was totally Rob:
Robert Pattinson (actor, ‘The Rover,’ ‘Good Time’): It’s crazy that there is an article about a distribution company. That’s completely nuts.
You can just see his bewilderment and amusement can't you? Click HERE to read the whole article!

From the source:
Last year American Liberty Bail Bonds had the pleasure of watching award-winning indie film directors and brothers, Josh and Benny Safdie, film a scene at our office in Queens, New York. The Safdie brothers filmed a short but tense scene of the movie with Robert Pattinson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Eric J Paykert and Astrid Corrales. As reported by Graham Winfrey from IndieWire, the film "Good Time" follows a bank robber (Robert Pattinson) who finds himself unable to evade those who are looking for him. We wish them the very best next month! The Cannes Film Festival is May 17-28.

A24 says Robert Pattinson's Good Time trailer is coming next Tuesday + a peek at the title treatment!!

A24 says Robert Pattinson's Good Time trailer is coming next Tuesday + a peek at the title treatment!

A24 has given fans a heads up!
Now......notice I'm not putting an actual date. I'm one of those people that thinks "next Tuesday" should actually be May 23rd. THIS Tuesday should be May 16th. So if I constructed the tweet, I would say, "This Tuesday sounds like a pretty good time for a trailer." But I'm guessing the "next Tuesday" in the tweet means May 16th because it wouldn't make sense to prep us now for a trailer dropping on the 23rd. The world moves too fast. That news would be buried.

So it must be the 16th. We'll have to wait and see....this Tuesday.

ROBsessed Giveaway: Snatch up a summer read with Public Relations by Katie Heaney and Arianna Rebolini

ROBsessed Giveaway: Snatch up a summer read with Public Relations by Katie Heaney and Arianna Rebolini

Are you gathering books for summer reads? We have one to add to your list and we're hosting a ROBsessed Giveaway in honor of Rob's birthday so our readers have a chance to win a copy of the just-released novel, Public Relations! This is definitely a fun read for us since we happen to follow a celebrity and the ins and outs of his professional and personal life.
Read the following to learn about the story and the authors:

photo 51bokmGK5eL.jpgPUBLIC RELATIONS, a new novel from Katie Heaney and Arianna Rebolini that peeks behind the curtain of modern celebrity culture and reveals the public relations know-how that plays a role in every superstar’s image.
Young PR star Rose Reed is thrown into the big leagues when her boss leaves town the day of the firm's meeting with Archie Fox, a hot, internationally famous British singer-songwriter. He's totally over fame and has withdrawn from the spotlight, but now, his audience is losing interest too. While meeting with Archie and his desperate manager, the PR team throws out terrible idea after terrible idea until Rose speaks up and suggests a staged with up-and-coming, young indie star Raya. He agrees – but only if Rose becomes his publicist.
As the faux-mance begins to rehabilitate Archie's faltering career, Rose finds herself having unexpected, inconvenient (and definitely unprofessional) feelings for the crooner. But do late night texts and impromptu burrito binges mean he feels the same? In the end, Rose will have to decide whether to let her fantasy crush go, or to risk her reputation to be with the charming, handsome, scoundrel-y but sweet pop star she's grown to love.
Like The Devil Wears Prada and The Royal We, PUBLIC RELATIONS offers readers a fictional peek into a larger-than-life world, filled with strategized dinner dates, carefully curated wardrobe selections, purposeful calls to paparazzi, and unexpected romantic entanglements.
