New interview with Robert Pattinson in Glamour (Italy)

New interview with Robert Pattinson in Glamour (Italy)

A fantastic interview in the June 2011 issue. Rob needs to do more of these. Let the fans ask the questions I say!

Photobucket

Rob answers questions from fans posted on Glamour's Facebook.

In your new movie Water for elephants you work with animals. Do you have any pets?

Rob: "I recently got a puppy from a shelter in Louisiana, and called him Bear. He's an extraordinary dog, very smart and playful." (Tink: But he doesn't know any tricks like Queenie...)

Have you ever gone to the circus?

Rob: "I haven't, but it's weird that I can feel nostalgic for a place I've never been to."

When was the last time you cried?

Rob: "I continually cry, over everything. I'm crying right now! I'm drying my tears on the keyboard as I'm writing the answers" (Tink: so witty)

What book is on your bedside table at the moment?

Rob: "It's a book written by Steve Fisher, talking about the period when Las Vegas was under the control of the Mafia. I love the story of Las Vegas. (Tink: I think this is it...)

Who is your favorite hero?

Rob: "It's John Self from the novel Money by Martin Amis, because Amis manages to make fascinating even the most disgusting character on earth." (Tink: This just made be bitter about us not having Bel Ami yet)

How do you picture yourself at age 90?

Rob: "I want to be with my wife, sitting on a deckchair, sipping some tea, and reading books in a retirement home, in a beautiful and warm place." (Tink: I want him to have this. *sigh*)

Do you prefer a pair of jeans or a tuxedo?

Rob: "Pair of jeans, but I don't mind wearing a tux, not everyday of course." (Tink: He doesn't mind wearing a tux because he knows he looks damn fine in one.)

Photobucket

He really can't go wrong though...

Photobucket

Do you read your horoscope?

Rob: "No, and I really don't believe in that stuff."

The first verse of your favourite poem or song

Rob: "I grew up on the crime side, the New York Times side. Staying alive was no jive" - It's C.R.E.A.M. by the hardcore rap group Wu-Tang Clan from New York. (Tink: I love him hard. )

A must in your closet

Rob: "Underwear, which is only necessary thing after all. But I might add socks as well, you know just to make the answer more interesting." (Tink: Lies. We know Rob has an aversion to socks...)

What is one thing you think you're good and one thing you're bad at?

Rob: "I'm really good at the game "words with friends", while I'm not good at the ice hockey simulation NHL 11 for PlayStation 3."

Which is the song on your iPod you listen to the most?

Rob: "Beside You by Van Morrison. iTunes tells me I've listened to it 53 times, but I reset the play count twice at least, so I might have listened to it like a hundred times."

Where would you like to live?

Rob: "In LA and NY, or maybe in both cities! (Tink: LA is on the table! Woot!)

Are you a techno addict or a romantic guy?

Rob: "I'm a romantic guy." (Tink: So sweet. I never believe him when he says he's not romantic.)

Which is more difficult to shoot, a sex scene or a laugh?

Rob: "It's hard to say. Both kinds of scenes turned up really well."

You open your fridge and...

Rob: "And there's a Coca-Cola Zero, a pizza from yesterday, 2 day old Chinese food, and a Heineken." (Tink: Again, I love him hard.)

Photobucket

What is your ringtone?

Rob: "The standard one. Always." (Tink: zzzzzzzzzzz)

What is the first thing you do when you wake up?

Rob: "I brush my teeth, have a shower and go walk my dog."

What is your dream?

Rob: "Be able to act, write, direct, edit and produce my own movies." (Tink: If you build it, they will come.)

Are you on any social networks?

Rob: "If "words with friends" is considered a social network then yes. But I do not have any twitter or facebook accounts. There are too many people pretending to be me. If you want to know me, you have to go to the cinema."

What is your tip for an aspiring actor?

Rob: "Be faithful to yourself. That's enough."

Note on the pic: "The big doubt: is he dating Kristen? Yes, no, maybe. Robert changes the subject and doesn't answer this question"

We had this Robert Pattinson interview with Sky Cinema News Italy before but they had dubbed over Rob.

An english survey says that 87% of english women, of every age would replace their husbands immediately with Robert Pattinson. And I suspect that every woman in the world would do the same. Pattinson, 25 next May 12, (Kate: I think you mean May 13th!) a very tall man (1.85 cm) skinny, pale and apparently unhappy (as vampires should be), (Kate: You mean Edward is unhappy? Rob looks perfectly happy to me!) is the center of a mass idolatry similar only to the Leonardo di Caprio’s (Titanic).

Another movie, Breaking Dawn, divided in two chapters (first will come out November 18th 2011, second one November 16th, 2012) after that date Twilight Saga and his Edward will be in retirement. And he and Kristen Stewart will be free, if they want to, to live their love freely, a love that they never confirmed.

Since the series began, in 2008, semi-unknown Pattinson, chosen from 5000 candidates, has risen to 15th place on the most payed actors list. For Breaking Dawn he asked and obtained $12.5milion for every movie; when he changed genre he renounced to a lot of money: for his new job “Water for Elephants” he asked only $1.5milion . “But I need to put my foot down and to wake up”, he says very seriously. Based on Sara Gruen's most successful novel, set in the ’30s, the movie follows Jacob that becomes a vet in a circus by chance. And falls in love with Marlena (Reese Whiterspoon), even though she is married to the ringmaster and animal trainer August (Christoph Waltz).

What attracted you to this story?
RP: The script: I react to words and descriptions in a visceral way. If I can feel myself in the story immediately, then this must be the right script to do.

(Please keep in mind that some things can be lost in translation)

The real prototype of these generational mutations is Rob Pattinson: 24 years old, an Englishman in Hollywood, where he became famous worldwide playing the pale vampire Edward Cullen (and, even before, Cedric Diggory, a model student at Hogwarts in the Harry Potter series). He jokingly admits to be “nothing special, one of those who live in hotels and travel the world”. However, he created a new masculine identity, surprising even for the Facebook sub-culture who’s made him a star via the social network. Today is the eve of an important test for him: his new movie, WFE: he’s the protagonist of a melodramatic film, set in a circus, from the bestselling book by Sara Gruen. […]

Having been labelled as a teen idol, you’re now being tested as a true actor.
I had this chance to act with Cristoph Waltz and I fall in love with Marlena (Reese), his wife. Travelling with the circus, I visit areas of America far from Hollywood. There are dark secrets in this movie, as in life. And there’s this idea of life-saving love, which I believe in. I’m not cheesy, but I have a romantic soul.

Do you get on well with girls?
I grew up with two older sisters, and I have a great respect for women. I hate the lack of prudishness, I get bored when people are ostentatious of their body. Sex and feeling for me walk side-by-side.

Your rock side: people say you spend nights with your friends listening to Tom Waits, Van Morrison and the late Jeff Buckley.
Music is a key aspect of my life. I wish I could play a movie about Buckley, his voice, his songwriting gave me a lot. I’m interested in his creativity, in his existence, even in his death by drowning in 1997, in the Mississippi.

What kind of use do you do of Internet?
A practical use. My favourite movie last year was The Social Network and one day I’d like to work with David Fincher. Everything he does is interesting, and he got the best out of an actor I really admire, Jesse Eisenberg.

Robert Pattinson Is Looking For The Quiet Life In Italy's "Style" Magazine

Translation

StyleMag-Italy The April issue of Style - on sale tomorrow with Il Corriere della Sera - is dedicated to the new stars of Hollywood. A generation of actors born in the 80s who stand out for their soft elegance and total secretiveness about their private lives.

The cover is dedicated to Robert Pattinson: the 24 year old British actor who emigrated to Hollywood and gained worldwide fame playing the pale vampire in the Twilight saga.

He now represents a new masculinity that is distant from the machismo of the 80s and in a long interview to Style he declares: “Luxury hotels, hot models and designers buzzing around me? All of them are traps, I want a quiet life.” The actor continues: “I’m not interested in casual relationships, I need to get to know people. I’m not making an existential statement: I just want a family with two or three kids”.

Meanwhile, like his colleagues Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Andrew Garfield and Alexander Fehling, he brought a new, fresh, surprising male identity also to that subculture of fans who, via Facebook, made a star of him.
