Where are ya'll seeing these stats about NM - I'm so glad it's done so well.

Isn't it wierd that movies hardly anyone sees get the critics choices and all these golden globes and academy wins but movies the public really like don't even get noticed by the critics.......I mean where would the entire industry be without US paying to see the movies????????? Why don't they pay attention to what fans like????? And award that?????

Even though I miss him terribly, I think Rob and Kristen are wise to lay low and not be seen for a while.......not only for their own sanity but they are really overexposed right now. When people start making parodies about your movie you know you're overexposed. They are making jokes about the films now and while it can be funny sometimes its also a little insulting and means that people aren't taking their work seriously anymore.

So it's best to just step back and not be so visible. Although we miss them, personally. God, I'd give anything to know what happened at the Pattinson house over the holidays, what kind of presents did Rob open?? What did he give his friends and family? Wouldn't you love to know?

comedians make fun of all movies,
to me its not an insult but it shows the movies have hit the big times,
where is Rob right now ? in london with his family i hope.

Yeah, I don't necessarily consider it an insult to have parodies made of your movie. Most of the time if a movie is being parodied that means it's done very well at the box office or is very popular. You don't get a lot of parodies of movies that tanked at the theater or that no ones ever heard of. So, in a backhanded kind of way, I guess it's a compliment. Although I do agree that they are overexposed & needed some time out of the spotlight, not only for their own sanity but for their image as well.

over exposure can be a double edge sword,
it all depends on which side you are on.
fame does bring its rewards.

Well, the awards are supposed to go to movies that set standards for great filmmaking. Of course, they don't always, and the Oscars began as a Producer's award so its got promotion at its heart anyway. I do think many feel popular movies are rewarded at the box office and other smaller efforts might not get an audience at all unless they get some boost through awards and other distinctions. And many who work in the industry get their start in such smaller films...hem.

Gonna comment on my one pet peeve about the performances in NM. I get angsty when actors don't act 'on the line' but in the pauses in between. Silence or pauses can be wonderful, particularly in film, but lose effectiveness if every line is broken by little 'motivational' moments. As the great Edith Evans said: "Don't pause (pause.) Never pause." It might have been encouraged but it can become a habit, so I hope it isn't so prevalent in "Eclipse." And I'm sure Donellan won't be encouraging it in "Bel Ami." Ok, out of my system, so I'll stop the random musings.

My friend has Lizzie Pattinson on her facebook...she's gonna ask her how her Christmas was and what they had for Christmas dinner! Maybe we'll get a little glimpse into what Rob did for the holidays!
