Will Robert Pattinson attend the Golden Globes?

Only time will tell, but here's the start of the will he/won't he attend as awards season begins!

'Twilight' studio Summit joins Golden Globes party scene! Will Robert Pattinson attend?

Will "Twilight Saga" stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner attend next month's Golden Globes?

The Dish Rag has it on good authority that it's a definite possibility.

And if they do, there's also a very good chance we'll see them afterwards at at least one of the five official parties that night. OMG, this is better news than Rob's unreleased photos!

There are five parties already confirmed to take place on Sunday, Jan. 17, inside the Beverly Hilton where the Globes are traditionally held.

And fledgling film company Summit Entertainment (yes, the "Twilight Saga" studio) has joined the ranks of the big studio parties being thrown at the hotel by Universal, NBC, Warner Bros, HBO, and Harvey and Bob Weinstein.

As usual, there will the infamous Instyle/Warner Bros bash down in the Oasis Courtyard.

And then there's the Universal/NBC/Focus fete, held high on the hotel roof overlooking Beverly Hills, followed by the always hot HBO bash at Circa 55, spreading out around the pool. Then there's Weinstein Company's celebration, traditionally held in the former Trader Vic's space.

But the big news is that distributor Summit Entertainment -- the folks who brought us the infectiously successful "Twilight Saga: New Moon as well as the critically lauded "The Hurt Locker" -- will hold its very first onsite Golden Globe party this year.

We hear it will be in the Stardust Room.

We're thinking at least a couple supernatural attendees will be mandatory.

If The Dish Rag sees Rob we'll be sure to ask him about "Twilight" being a metaphor for abstinence.

"Definite possibility"? LOL. Still, Remember Me is a Summit film coming out less than 2 months later and I doubt they'd pass up such a primo PR opportunity. Gwen says yes.

Would you want to attend an award ceremony where everyone there but you was nominated for something but YOU made more money for your movie than anyone there????????

I wouldn't.

Won't he already be in Budapest filming Bel Ami?

Anonymous said...

He's going to stay a little while in Europe for Bel Ami.
Specifically, in London and Budapest...
So all we can do is speculate :)

That's what I said on the last thread, I thought he'd be fillming by then?

But he's summits golden boy, they could make it happen I suppose...
There's still rumor about an eclipse trailer by that time...

Crossing my fingers!!!

completely agree, why would you want to go to something that you are not nominated nor the movie that made millions and millions of dollars was nominated either. that would just suck to be there just for summit but i dont know how the hollywood world works, so who knows.

@Ana73, don't know for sure, but I'm cynical when it comes to Hollywood. These awards aren't based on actual talent---it's driven, as is Hollywood, to make money. And you just can't buy PR like this. Presenters aren't always the ones nominated (in fact, I always thought it was weird if they were). Making more than half a billion dollars in a month? NM alone will guarantee Summit a free pass to do whatever they like... And RM is Summit's new ticket---so if Rob can do it, I bet he will. Just my opinion! ; )

Robert's got an ex. producer credit for Remember ME, and so I think he will be pushing hard to promote as much as he can given his time constraints. Something like the golden globes would be an excellent time to promote Remember Me, the timing is good, as is the Oscars. He'll be shooting, but I'm sure they can work around his schedule and he can take a quick weekend trip to LA.

ps: often bigger awards shows try to get the hotter and relevant actors to participate in some capacity, even though they are not nominated. I doubt Robert feels he should have been nominated for his 10 minutes in New Moon, but he's relevant still. So it would make sense they would ask him, and it makes sense for him to accept, given his first big nontwilight movie is coming out soon.

Summit was catapulted into the big time this past year on Rob's back. They're not stupid, they know what they owe him. He's the face of Summit right now, and they'll push him to be there if possible. He knows they don't want him there as that Twi guy... and I bet he's OK with that. But as a budding HW player/producer, he may well jump at the chance to go.

Fandamonium said...

I agree about the Executive Producer thing. He worked really hard promoting Twilight and New Moon. Why wouldn't he for Remember Me? Except that he has made it very clear that he is extremely excited about Bel Ami. He wasn't up for an Oscar last year either, but he presented. Hmmm....Maybe he'll have to fly back just for the show.

Hollywood is all about the PR and Rob has been doing his part well starting with promo for Twilight.
Grateful to Summit for their initial hiring of Rob, but hopefully now he has the beginnings of some well deserved star power decision making. Love that he has exec producer credit on RM. However, I have no doubt that he will continue to be true to himself-no matter what!!! Love him!!

@femroc
You make a very valid point and I totally agree. I'm sure some GG nominees only wish they had half the fan base that Rob has.

I really hope Summit is smart enough not to overpromote him...but if they aren´t I´m sure he is :-)
Did anyone read the TO outtake on tby789s` blog as well?

Off topic, but I found a video from NM Press Conference in Madrid. I don't know if it was posted here, but I haven't seen it before. Unfortunately it has really bad sound quality.

Rob is really cute towards the end of the video(around 6.25) when he tries to remember some Spanish directors and then at the very end of the video when he finaly remembers one. He's so adorable.

@Karina...every pic I've seen of Rob since the "Remember Me" trailer is a mini promotion of the film! LOL I can't wait for it!

I thought Summit was cheap about their New Moon promotion commercials because I barely saw any and they kept geting shorter.

Were they just floating by on all the Rob publicity.

If Summit wants him at the Golden Globes, then he'll be at the freakin' Golden Globes. After all, they wanted him schilling DVD's at Wal Mart's 5:30 am corporate meeting and so...he went (and they pulled him off the set in Vancouver to fly him to Arkansas to do so). And don't think that this is what Rob wants. He doesn't (my personal belief is that he HATES all this publcity and promotion but he realizes it's part of the job and...he does his job). But I do believe he signed a 'promotions' clause with that first Twilight contract and they're holding him to it. And...

The only reason he would be going to the GG is because, he's the star of the biggest film of the year, it's a worldwide global hit and the Golden Globe voters are the foreign press that covers Hollywood. Simply put, to have him there would help their ratings. And by and large, the GG are not used for an actor's upcoming projects in that you're not going to see a film clip from Remember Me. That's nothing put promotional cheese left for the likes of MTV Awards. However, he could be introduced as...'the star of the Twilight Saga and the upcoming Remember Me.' But that's about it.

Also...if he does win a People's Choice Award next week, I would imagine that Summit would want him there too. So chances are, he'll be back in the states next week to attend both award shows and then possibly on to the Sundance Film Festival before he has to head back to Europe for Bel Ami. But that is just pure speculation on my part. The thing about these two award shows is...

People's Choice--actors would just as soon ignore it as it's simply a popularity contest and not an award of merit from their peers or the legitimate press. But they go because if they brushed it off, it would look like they're giving the public the finger. So...they go (and in the beginning of these awards, very few of the MAJOR film stars attended. But then the studios started putting a few foots in a few asses and they started showing up)

Golden Globes--not really an award of merit (it's given out by the foreign press), but it's the second oldest award (the Oscar being the oldest) in Hollywood and EVERYBODY goes. It's really more of a party where you get to meet and schmooze the creme de la creme of the industry. I'm hoping he goes to the Globes because it's really a fun award award show (every year something really off the wall happens). They sit at tables and eat and drink and by the end of the show, you gotta lot of drunks in that room. hee hee

I could care less if attends the People's Choice because I avoid that one like the plague. It's the cheesiest of the big award shows. However, if Mr. Gorgeous wins something, then I'm gonna have to watch the goddamn thing. Just like I had to sit through those assinine MTV and Teen Choice Awards.

Shit Rob. The things I do for you.

I hope Rob can attend the Golden Globes because there will be many great movie actors, directors and producers there. It would be great for him: contacts, new friendships. I`d like Rob to be one of the presenters too.

@Nikola6

"Shit Rob. The things I do for you.". LMAO!!! I feel your pain.... I feel your pain. If he only knew the hours of productivity he sucks up on earth.... He should be fined by some universal labor organization if one exists and if it doesn't, then one should be created just to fine him. I'm not totally convinced the global economic collapse is not his fault. The timeline fits the Twilight Saga too nicely.

(Random thought alert) Um... Is Rob slouching in this picture? How are he and Taylor the same height here?

Nik - great insight into all of the award shows and to me it sounds like you are right on. I don't think he likes any of those award shows either but he goes cause he has to ..........like he said in the commentary of the Twilight screening........"I'm just your puppet" in a rather pained voice.

On one hand he is their puppet, Summit and the directors' but on the other his fame is REAL and because of who HE is.

Summit will probably want him to attend all of those shows - like he's not visible enough already - but I hope he doesn't go to the GG. He should probably attend the People's Choice cause he's nominated and I'm sure they tell you if you win or not so if he has won and doesn't show up it looks bad.....he could send a video message from the set I guess.

This industry is back assward - they don't consider what fans like as being viable, worthy, or credible in this case.
Look at Harry Potter and Star Wars - they've won a few awards but not near what you'd think considering the millions of fans and dollars they have made.

Titanic is one of the few movies where it all came together, fans, critics, money, etc.

AP said...

@Nik: I don't think Rob hated being at the Oscars last year. I think he was a little overwhelmed to be presenting and he had the same nervous excitement most actors have to be part of that show. I agree he'd enjoy the GGlobes, with Ricky hosting this year. It 'counts' somewhat to be there, even given its the 'obscure' Foreign Press judges, but other shows are less important.

AP said...

Regarding "Titanic":I was one of the two people in the world who was not a fan. Turan being the other, I think. ;) Luved Kate and the CGI boat - otherwise it could have been cut by at least 2 hours, for me. Not a really a fan of the King's latest either. Again, incredible VFX but could the story be more predictable, or cobbled together? Wish he'd use a real screenwriter. Course, I'm the 'odd' one out...so disregard. lol

A-girl, I agree. Someone described Avatar as watching your best friend play the best special fx'ed video game of all time-and getting bored watching after an hour or so. Pretty, but the plotline description of it being a cross between "fern gully" and "dances with wolves" is spot on.

Looks as though Summit has payed it's way into the cool kids clique.

But it wouldn't be a bad thing at all for Rob to be there. It would give him another great chance to talk business with the movers and shakers of HW. who knows what great deals he could get offered there.I hope he can go.
