True Blood's Stephen Moyer Apologised To Robert Pattinson

True Blood's Stephen Moyer Apologised To Robert Pattinson

Photobucket

THE fangs are back in - or are they? True Blood hunk Stephen Moyer revealed he apologised to Twilight star Robert Pattinson for calling him the "Diet Coke of vampires".

The fight began last year, when Brit actor Stephen made the comments about Robert when the heartthrob refused to let his character drink human blood in the popular films.

Stephen, who plays blood-sucking Bill Compton in TV series True Blood, admitted: "I sent him a message saying, 'Dude, I hope you realise that this is a joke'.

"I did call him a wuss. But I didn't call HIM that. I referred to his character."

However, 40-year-old Stephen has put his foot in it again by admitting he has never seen the Twilight films or read the books.

He also hasn't ever met Robert. He said: "I haven't even seen Twilight. I don't even know the books.

"All I know is that one thing - I think he drinks cow blood instead of human blood."

(Kate: Emmmm no Stephen, he doesn't, looks like you've put your foot in it once again.)

aw boo no disquis :( anyhoo, silly Stephen getting embroiled in this thing again...he must really like name-dropping Rob. I'm sure Rob understood what he said was a joke, I hope everyone who read about it knew it was a joke!

I think Stephen has a man-crush on Rob...excellent choice! ;-)

Me thinks someone likes getting his name in the press..."If I keep mentioning Rob and not exactly apologizing, they'll keep writing about me..."

@verax - ITA!

What? I don't get this. There's no comparison between the two. Is this a press thing? Someone trying to stir things up. Rob so outshines any male. IFLTM

if this is a "mine is bigger than yours" kinda thing then i'm sure rob would win, sounds like this guy is jealous of rob's quick rise to fame,i didn't know this guy(stephen)even existed,i haven't watched the tv show true blood so i'll just stick to my veggie eating vamps thank you very much...Stephan.

nikola6 said...

No you dick. Edward Cullen tackles mountain lions. His brother? Gizzily Bears. What do you attack? Defensless humans. I'll bet Edward Cullen could kick your vampire ass to Poukeepsie.

Sorry. But the thing about Twilight backlash that so pisses me off is that most of the critcisim comes from those who have neither seen the films nor read the books. If you do both those things and still hate it...then fine. I've never seen Moonlight or True Blood or Vampire Diaries or any other of these 'bandwagon' shows with a cult following, but I don't knock because I HAVEN'T SEEN THEM and I wouldn't know what the hell I was talking about.

I'll say this though and any Stephen Moyer fans can come at me if they wish. I'm gonna make a prediction here. Robert Pattinson will still be movie star long after this tv show is through. It's funny how you never hear Twilight mock these other vampire shows. Well. With billions of dollars in tickest sales the world over (and more billions to come), they don't have to, do they? Twilight is the Big Kahuna of the current vampire craze (hell. they started it) and EVERYBODY knows it. Some just hate admitting it. And yeah, I know. The Sookie Sackhouse books predated Meyer's story. But they didn't set off a worldwide phenomenon. Without Twilight, I doubt True Blood would have ever become a series.

The uninformed see this thing as weak and sexless written by a Mormon with a fanbase of screaming teenagers and women, who they think, ought to know better. They haven't got the first clue as to what Twilight is REALLY about.

Yeah. This is rant and I won't apologize for a bit of it.

Sorry. This is a rant. And I won't apologize for a bit of it. I'm just tired of this show trying to tell the world how much better and cooler they are than Twilight. And let me tell you this...Mr. Moyer would trade his eyeteeth to be in Robert Pattinson's position. Any actor would as movie stardom is the pinnacle in show business.

True Blood is too intense for me...to much sex and blood. I don't feel that it's relatable like Twilight is.

Twilight is all about being true to yourself, true love, and loving others. True Blood is so...lusty.

Plus i mean, Edward Cullen? Sure he doesn't kill people...but he just can't stay away from you, because he loves you so much. That's devotion. Plus he's hot.

I won't touch on the sparkly bit but he's super hot and has icy cold skin. yummy...

Just. Yummy.

I know it's not your fault guys (Goz, Kat, Kate and Tink), but I fear that if you don't get the posting fixed on this thing soon, a lot alot are gonna give up and take a powder. Just saying.

@Tish i look at trueblood since the first ep--,and i look at it every sunday nite on HBO i love anything vampire i never saw or knew about stephen before true blood i know about his wife anna though but it is said if he or any one is jealous of rob's qiuck rise to fame it's not his fault that people find rob hard to resist he just is a plain darling of a man with so many great qualities to choose from sorry stephen

Ana73 said...

@Nik -Wow that was some rant :)

i think it's kind of weird that he could continue to mention Rob's name not unless the interviewer asked about it.

i know alot dont like True Blood but i love it, best TV show right now. lots of dirty, raunchy vampire sex LOL.

nikola6 said...

What I will apologize for is for any True Blood fans here who love this show. I didn't mean to offend YOU. As I've said, I haven't seen this show and since I have always been fascinated with vampires, I imagine I would love it too.

And btw, Edward Cullen is a murderer as I believe he has killed about 50 people or so. But he CHOSE a different way of life and that doesn't make him weak. As a predator, do fight his natural intincts to kill, it makes him INCREDIBLY STRONGER than those who give into it.

Twilight is not about traditional vampires. It is about eternal love. It is a fairy tale. It is a lovely story. Flawed writing certainly. But perhaps the most UNIQUE vampire story EVER written.

Am I still ranting? I'm trying to apologize to my friends here who love this story. It's just that I can't help defending it too.

kazrob said...

For all you guys that have just started on twitter and say you are "twatting?"
Well this in the UK is the true meaning of what is a twat.....Stephen Moyer is a twat....or rather a fuckin' twat cos it sounds better.
If you have to use gratuitous sex scenes to sell a programme then you are on a loser before you start.
Your brain and your imagination are the two biggest erogenous zones a human has so i will stick to all things Twilight and say to Stephen...stop wanting what you can't have...natural raw sex appeal
like Rob has......never going o happen...

Vangie said...

@AND like MARINA, to much sex and blood it is not a romantic story now vampire diaries is a nice romance but i like stephan not damon blondie is humble like edward but he always has sex with his girl elena

I too have a problem with blogger.

As for Moyer, that guy sound Robsessed, and not in a good way. He's what 40? and he's picking -- time and again -- on a 24 year old who is obviously more successful. Honestly, that's pathetic.

@nik - oh you dont have to apologize for your thoughts, i love to read them !!!

i do agree with you twilight vamps are unique and the story is an eternal love fairytale :)

nikola6 said...

I meant I'm trying to apologize to my friends who love True Blood BUT I cannot help defending Twilight too as I think most of the criticism is UNINFORMED!

Delle1 said...

I'm wondering if this story isn't being sensationalised by the media...and if not then I'm sure Stephens' saying things in jest if he hasn't seen or read anything Twilight...we all know how words get twisted to make a story, just look at Rob and Kristen and how everything they say or do gets screwed....

Marina H said...

lol @Haystackhair. Totally. He probably doesn't even know who Moyer is, lol.

Haystackhair said...

Great rant nik, and very true. I've turned friends my age on to Twilight, and they've said things like "there's barely any kissing, but it's so sensual." Half the seduction for women is in our minds. Edward is not weak in the least, and it is a unique story. No need to compare them all, but, like you said, none of the others have started a world wide phenomenon. All these other shows, good or not, are following on the coat tails of twilight.

Jessyh said...

One:Blogger is killing me.I have to sign in each time. And when I do it won't go back to the blog. It's frustrating.

Nik,I was thinking now that you're on Twitter maybe you can get Facebook.I have an account.Maybe many others here do too.But you know I was thinking since you opened the doors to tech now and social networking, why not go all the way?Lol.I'll admit I'm being selfish,'cuz it would be an easy way to communicate.Or at least one more way.

Anywho this guy is simply seeking attention. My number one rule:Do not speak about something you know shit about."Cow blood"Yes Stephen ,even donkey blood.Mentally Twi vampires are stronger than these TB vamps.Much stronger. You have crazy sex and drink human blood.Very attractive behaviour. To some maybe, not for me.
No offense because I haven't seen one episode or read the books.Judging from what I hear and from that Rolling Stones cover.

And for the umptenth time, this is a love story. It's not about vampires. It's about WHO the vampires are and what they do.Not about their nature.Never has it gone at length about it.Sometimes I even forget they are vampires.Because it's so secondary. It gives the story an edge, that's it.oomps I think I'm ranting too.Sorry.

nikola6 said...

Oh wait. Bill doesn't kill humans, does he? Doesn't he get his blood from a blood bank or isn't the premise that they've come up with some kind of synthetic blood for those vampires who don't wish to kill humans? Okay. I apologize for that one. But don't a lot of the vampires in this story kill humans? Which is fine. They're vampires. I think maybe the biggest difference here is the sexual content. And I'm all for sexy times. But I think some be surprised with what's in store with BD. No, it won't be raunch, but I don't think it's gonna be tame either.

Gee. For somone who said she wasn't gonna apologize for a bit of her rant, I sure am aplogizing. Well. I can fly off the handle at times. Really? But I'm a loyal sap and I will VOCALLY defend that which I think is being unfairly dumped on. Especially the character of Edward Cullen. He is indeed a most unique creature.

And yeah, maybe this is the media trying to stir something up and not Stephen's fault at all. Look how long they've been stirring up the Brad/Angie/Jennifer triangle. And yeah, they do twist Rob's and Kristen's words, don't they?

Okay. I aplogize...for most of it. Maybe I should just go back and watch that hilarious vid again and shut up. Yeah. Fat chance of that. *rolls her eyes*

Ladies, you are playing into Stephen's hands! He's winding you up!

From what I've seen, he's a great guy who's not afraid to make fun of himself, and he has a typical "take the mickey" British sense of humour!

I don't think True Blood is short of its own fans, either, so he's not trying to drum up viewers...

I love True Blood, and I love Bill, Sookie and Eric. It's very full-on and not everyone will like it... I also love Edward, Bella and Jacob. No good trying to compare them, they're very different shows, aimed at different audiences.

Enjoy the Vampire madness while it lasts, I say.

Facebook scares me a little in that it's personal whereas isn't Twiddle anonymous like blogging in that we don't reveal our real names and give out real information about ourselves? I mean, what's the point of Facebook if you're gonna put up a faux identity. Also...I've heard that Facebook retains your personal information and can do whatever they want with it even though they claim not to do such a thing AND doesn't Facebook follow you in that future employers can look it up and see information about you that you might not want to share with an employer but could determine whether you're hired or not?

I think Facebook might be a step too far for me as I suffer from a bit of paranoia myself. Another thing I relate to concerning Rob. You see, my dream is to be a published writer someday and I don't know that I'd want my participation in this fandom to be known at such a level. I'm not ashamed or embarrassed by it and most of friends and family know that I've gone apeshit for Rob. And even if I were a writer of some noterioty, I wouldn't hide that fact. I'd tell my readers or the world at large that hell yeah, I'm a huge Rob Pattinson fan. But I wouldn't want what the things I've said while particpating in this fandom to be out there judged by those who do not know me. Also, I do have friends in the industry and hypocritical as this is going to sound, they don't know that I'm a fangirl about Rob and Twilight and I don't want them to know as such a thing hurts your credibility. It's so phoney but in Hollywood, you're on one side of the fence or the other and being a rabid fan of something definitely puts on THAT side of the fence. Does that make sense?

By the by...I'm about to tackle my e-mail and I am going to repond to you. What you wrote to me was so lovely and I would very much like to get to know you better.

Oh jessy...

What a lovely thing to say, just like your e-mail. But I'm struggling with it. The story is about my birth parents and the horrific lie that fractured my family and the irony of that lie that so affected my life. And because it's so painful (trying to write about a mother I lost at six and a father whose life was wrecked by that loss)...it's a struggle.

It's so much easier to come here and write about Rob. But that is distracting me. Writing is about discipline and I tend to be distracted...ALOT. But thank you again. The compliments I receive here never fail to overwhelm me. NEVER. And I'd be a damn liar if I said it doesn't help boost my lack of confidence and is a stoke to my ego. Weird huh? Someone who comes off very confident in her opinions is actually a bit of a fraidy cat in RL. And I'm supposing that's because it's because of the anonymity of this screen that lets us 'hide' behind it. It's true.

I'm so glad he didn't get it too for the reasons you named and this really doesn't surprise me in that, I've felt for quite some time now that Rob's destiny was to become a movie star. Think about it.

That brass ring came around for him TWICE by the time he reached his 21st birthday. First with HP. He had a featured and memorable role in one of the biggest film franchises in history and most young actors would have capitolized on that. But he didn't. He let that opportunity go by. Then comes Edward Cullen. Out of thousands he was chosen AND (and this is significant), he might not have ever known Kristen. Oh, he might have met her at industry functions, but he would have never had the opportunity to get to know her in the very unique way that he did in that they've had to deal with something TOGETHER that brought them together in a way that most actors will never experience.

Despite the things that he's had to give up; freedom, anonymity, privacy, I think he's gained so much more; a film career, financial independence and perhaps, maybe, the love of his life.

Spot on. ITA - I don't know much about Stephen but I can definitely see the twinkle in his eye (when he's not acting)- he's got a good sense of humour. He's going to get asked all the time about Twilight so he's going to come up with something flippant whether or not he's done his homework - you can tell when people are really being funny/bitchy and he just a wind up. The media try to make something of it - they haven't got anything to do except make it look like people are bitching about each other.

@Kaz, Yes! Twat exactly. I was thinking the same thing.

I have two points to make.
1. I don't care if he's British, Stephen Moyer is a twat. Stop stirring shit.
2. The only reason that he is stirring shit is so that he can get publicity and has to use Rob to do so, which in return is just bringing more publicity to Rob and his career. So in that regard, Stephen please do continue.

In conclusion, Stephen Moyer is a twat!

I like True Blood and Stephen's character but don't understand why he keeps saying these things about Rob's "character" like he doesn't let Edward drink human blood. If he read the books or saw the movie he would know that is the way the "character" is written, Rob didn't insist that Edward didn't drink human blood. I think it is just a way to get his name in magazines

@ Vangie...

Interesting huh? With his last two films (and the next one he's to film soon), he will have played a husband four times and will have fathered six children AND at only 23-24 when he played or will play these rolls. That is unheard of for an actor so young as most of them at that age are still playing teenagers in sophmoric sex comedies. There are a few exceptions; Ryan Gosling made his debut at about 24 in the adult role in The Notebook and Shia LaBeauf (sp?) is soon to star opposite Michael Douglas in the long awaited sequel to Wall Street. And yeah, Edward Cullen is technically a teenager but because he does not look nor does he act like one, Edward is in no way a 'typical' teenage character.

And it's because of his mature looks and his sensuality that Hollywood is casting him in these romantic, ADULT roles opposite actresses older than him (in the case of Kristin Scott Thomas, old enough to be his mother). And as I've said before, I believe that he will continue to cast opposite older women throughout his career because he I believe he can hold the screen with them with credibility. And because of this uniqueness about him it bodes very well for his future as a leading man in cinema. VERY WELL!

Unknown said...

@Marina, love it.

'Hey Rob, ya know Kristen?' You know the one, she's probably underneath you or riding you. Yeah that one. Well...she's okay. Okay? Kristen is okay!

nikola6 said...

@Vangie...

You asked what Rob might be thinking about all of this, playing husbands and fathers already in his young career. Well, he has spoken about it and he thinks it's quite interesting in that he too knows that actors his age normally do not take on such adult roles until they at least reach their late 20's. And if he can pull these characters off with credibility, it will go along way in him being perceived as just a teen idol. It will help him tremendously in losing that tag.

He also said that it's gotten him to thinking about being a husband and father himself. I've thought that if he has a good experience with the babies he'll be working with in BD, it might fuel his desire to become that young father. But if he gets a bunch of screamers, he might rethink that idea with...'oh shit, I might want to put this off for a bit'. LOL!

Carole UK said...

I wasn't aware that Rob auditioned for the part of Bill Compton.... now that's interesting! To be honest I think they made the right choice because Stephen is rather more mature than Rob, and it's a much darker part to play.

On the other hand, Rob was 100% perfect for Edward, and the rest is history, as they say!

Carole UK said...

Can you just imagine Rob carry round a curly haired baby, trying to bond with it so that they can shoot the BD scenes! I wonder what he'd say to her, and the faces he'd pull.... hilarious!

@kazrob Can't wait to read! Will check it out after work! Yay! Congrats on your first post! I'm working on a cannon Twilight fic myself. Trying to get it finished.

@Carole I love imagining Rob with a baby. It'd either be sexy and therefore adorable or awkward and therefore adorable. Either way it'd be adorable. But the Rob/Edward/Reneseme combo on BD is just going to be...lady parts 'esplosion.

Cant wait :)

Unknown said...

@Kaz, i'm all over it like a fly on shit bb! But I don't think it's gone up yet - maybe it has to get checked first.

I am very much looking forward to reading it, I have every faith that it's going to be good if we're going by your mini versions of written porn.

@Kaz I will have to look for it after RL stuff has been dealt with tonight, but am looking forward to reading your work, you seem to know how to get a girls mind in the gutter.

Nonni said...

I've seen "True Blood" and its a total rip-off of the "Twilight" world. The main female character (Sookie played by Anna Pacquin) can read minds! And the lead (Bill played by Stephen Moyer) doesn't drink human blood anymore... he drinks BOTTLED BLOOD that is sold in the store...some synthetic. AND Sookies boss/friend is a werewolf! It is a total HBO pornfest. I don't care for it at all...has nothing but gratuitous sex and no heart. Just my take. I agree with CullenLoverDbyRob think Moyer is just hunting for free press.

Unknown said...

@Nonni, i'm not a TB fan either but I must digress, TB is based on the books 'The Southern Vampire Mysteries' and they came out a long before Twilight was published.

Same with The Vampire Diaries, I do believe some of the books were published in the nineties.

It's difficult to say what came out first in terms of tv/film. It all seemed to happen at the same time.

There's a programme in the UK called Being Human (about a vampire, ghost and werewolf sharing a house in Bristol) and the pilot for that came out I think before Twilight was even filmed.

RfP is just that good and that hot that it looks as though everything has followed Twilight.

All the True Blood folk have their heads up their asses.

If it wasnt for the success of twilight, and the whole 'vampire' thing, True Blood as a tv series wouldn't exist.

I too am looking forward to Edward and his baby girl, that is...if they give it to us. If they follow cannon, he'll be relagated to supporting status in his own daughter's life. And that would make me nuts as it did in the book.

But I can't help but think that with as vocal a fanbase that this things got, they wouldn't dare push Edward to the background as it's Rob/Edward who is the true phenomenon of this thing. I don't think he sees that though. I think he thinks it's all Kristen. Nope. She is loved and adored by many (myself included as she's just my kind of girl), but she isn't fueling this worldwide frenzy. HE IS!

Remember how so many were worried that with the promotion of Taylor for Eclipse that Edward and Bella's love story might get shortchanged? Well, that didn't happen did it. And MR has already stated that were gonna get the sex in BD; feathers flying and gouged headboards. Actually, I think they could forgo the headboard, but there is NO WAY they can omit the feathers as it is one of the most iconic moments in the whole story.

As for Rob and his onset babies...I would imagine that he and Kristen will spend a good deal of time with them before the cameras roll. If they're smart actors (and I think they are) they better as they've got ALOT of scenes with their daughter and if those babies aren't comfortable with them (even just to recognize their scents as they're being held), they could have one hell of time getting those very intimate scenes filmed with them.

Yup. I think Rob and Kristen are gonna go to 'baby camp'. Oh would you love to be a fly on the wall for that.

"Kristin. What the hell is this stuff? It smells like shit."

"It's baby food Rob. Green beans. Pick up a spoon and put it in it's mouth."

"Kristen...Kristen...KRISTEN!!! What the hell is that? It smells worse than the inside of my shoes."

"Well Rob, if you'd wear socks once in awhile, you might eliminate that problem. And that btw, actually is shit. Take a wipey and wipe it off."

Oh to be that fly. LOL!

@HeartThePretty, there has been so much speculation about Rob's acting in these two films and that they're definitely Oscar material. Wasn't Christoph Waltz even quoted as saying that Rob is going to be an Oscar winner one day?
I appreciate that you need a distributor to get a film out but you would think that these film bigwig people would be doing all that they can to get them that distributor and to try and get them out for the awards season (it would work in their favour if they did). Maybe they are doing all that they can but with Rob being such a hot commodity right now, any of him films would be snatched right on up. Doing so would make them shitloads £/$

@Nik, i'm not too sure if there is going to much of a sex scene, even if MR has written one into the script. SM is a producer on these two films and everyone, EVERYONE knows that it's the producers that get the say and not the director. I reckon SM might say that it could get too steamy and want it tamed a bit. She did this with Twilight and the first kiss and I don't even think she was a producer then. :s

nikola6 said...

Okay. I'm gonna try this one more time.

It's true that TB came first, but it was Twilight that EXPLODED ON THE BIG SCREEN and because of that, TB was brought to the small screen AFTERWARD which makes it look like it's copying Twilight. It isn't. In fact, I've wondered if Meyer wasn't influenced just a bit by the Sookie stories with the human/vampire love story, the mind reading and the abstaining from human blood. Although she claims she didn't know or was interested in vampires before she wrote this story. Interesting coincidence though.

Delle1 said...

Unknown said...

@Nik, it's like you read my mind (see what I did there? Lol). I wrote pretty much the exact same thing a few comments above and personally I think that we are both right lol.

nikola6 said...

A question though...

Was there as much sex in the Sookie books as there is in the show? If not, then I would say that TB was influenced by Twilight in that way. Meaning, they were going to be the 'hot, sexy' vampires as oppose to the more chaste vampires of Twilight.

Just a thought.

Wait a sec. When did TB first hit the air ways? Someone said that the fourth season is about to start, so that would mean that it began in 2007 or early 2008 and therefore, it did beat Twilight to the screen. But still...it didn't explode until Twilight became a worldwide phenomenom.

Marina H said...

As for the distribution of Bel Ami. Well. There's a problem in Hollywood right now and that problem is...the marketing of R rated films. They don't know how to do it anymore because audiences shun them prefering comic adaptions, sci fi CGI extravaganzas an now the latest craze of 3-D. And serious actors are very worried about this. And from what we've heard of Bel Ami, this is going to be a hard R (I'll say...hey there Robbie boy. hee hee).

I have no doubt it will find a distributor but don't expect a big promotional push as I think there will be reluctance to mount a big publicity campaign because of the cost. My guess is this will play the indie and art houses and if it does well, it could move up to mainstream theatres. My fear is...

They're gonna want to edit the hell out of it in order to get distribution in America. Bring it down to a 'soft' R (oooh. poor Robbie). If they do that, we'll have to wait for the uncensored version on dvd. However, you European gals will probably get the entire film as is and that's because this really is a foreign film. English speaking, but still foreign in feeling and execution. And you guys get to see grown up adult films. In hypocritical and puritanical America...we don't. And the hypocracy comes in that we show more sexual content on premium tv than we do in our feature films, not to mention the billion dollar porn industry that we've got going in this country.

I dunno. These are just some guesses.

Marina H said...

Maybe if they make it 3d it'll get better distribution? >:) yummy 3d rob being naughty. I'D TAP IT...er...see it!

Ana73 said...

So i normally dont come on at night anymore because of RL but i just checked back in...TB started in Sept 08, Twilight came out Nov 08, the second season was premiered June 09. but i do believe with the phenomenom of Twilight that TB & Vampire Diaries did better because of the whole vampire phenomenom of twilight but there is a whole other audience for TB. I sure wouldn't let my teen watch it and it's not for everybody.

So the books had some hot sex but not as much as the show and sex sells so i think that is why it's there. so the TB vamps can take human blood without killing them they just have to control it. so bill does not completely abstain from sookie's blood. And you are right i think SM took some from Charlain Harris' novels with the shapeshifters, humans and mind reading vamps because hers were out i think at the end of the 90's could be wrong but definitely before twilight.

i couldn't get into the Vampire Diaries at all, didn't catch my interest, not enough sex LOL ;)

so if they ever put Black Dagger Brotherhood Series into movies or show now that one would be HOT HOT sex with HOT HOT vamps, i cross my fingers on that one.

ok i will go back to RL now.

As for the sex in BD...

Like I said, were not gonna get raunch or see bare breasts and bums. But I think it's going to be sexy and erotic. For one thing, were going to see more physical intimacy between them than we ever have before and that's gonna be hot. My god, look at how we salivated over the 'leg hitch' and that was NOTHING compared to say...yeah, True Blood. Also...

Remember that Catherine did indeed film some steamier kisses than we got in the movie; Bella's dream where she yanks him down on top of her and he settles himself between her legs and they kiss like crazy (it's on the outakes of the dvd) AND the actual was shot steamier but Meyer said it was too much because...
thing thing has got to build between them and if we go for too much in the beginning, then where do we go from there. Meaning, they're going somewhere with this.

Not to True Blood kind of sex because that's not what this story is
(despite the fic that we love so much) and if they did that, it would look they're pandering to a panting audience and then it would look like they are copying True Blood. But...

Were gonna get Edward and Bella naked in the water and between the sheets and just because we won't see them completely nude, we'll know that they are and that will be incredibly erotic. Remember, sometimes less is more. And...

The kiss immediately after she is turned. He's had to hold back and now he doesn't and I expect that to be hottest kiss of the series. The first real soul kiss between. Not to mention the first love scene after she is turned has got to take it even further because they've got to show us that she is just like him now; strong and unbreakable.

Were not gonna get raunch. But they know they're audience and they know what they're doing. Eclipse showed us that. And I don't care if Meyer is a producer here. She's sold her story to Summit and they own it now and they have the FINAL. Many a writer has bitched about how their they book has been changed for the movie version.

nikola6 said...

One more thing about Bel Ami...

The delay in securing a distributor could be that the directors are refusing to cut it. And if that's the case and they won't budge, then we won't get it in the theatres here in America even if it is starring the current 'it' boy of Hollywood. But what that will do is -if it only gets European distribution and if it's hotter than hell- that will send the interest in it sky high because it will be starring the current 'it' boy in Hollywood and people are gonna wanna see Rob Pattinson in the 'all together' fucking women in back alleys and up against walls. It's true. So...

If it's a hit in Europe, we could get a waterdowned version in American theatres and then in all likelihood, the complete version on dvd. May have to wait for this one chickies. Us American chickies that is. Unless were up for a trip to London sometime soon.

Unknown said...

@Nik, as ever, your comments are so insightful. It's times like this that i'm thankful that i'm going to become a London girl in the next few days.
As for your comment about the deformed wrist, at first I was wondering 'why from pressing rewind and play over and over? That would so not be why I have a deformed wrist lol.'
I'm pretty sure they frown on that kind of behaviour in cinemas though - maybe if I put a hole in the bottom of the popcorn box and make it look as though i've got my hand in the popcorn, nobody will ever know ;)

Stealing inanimate objects is more socially acceptable. Stealing people is more of an Algerian thing to do, i'm thinking that it may be frowned upon. I do however, have no problem 'borrowing' him, indefinitely that is.

@HeartThePretty, please please please do not fly with British Airways, they are truly truly wank. Terrible service and they are most certainly prone to cancelling the odd flight or two, or 3...million.

nikola6 said...

And to clarify something...

Yes, Meyer still owns her books, but Summit owns the film rights. They cannot tell her how to write her story and at the end of the day, she can STRONGLY suggest but she cannot demand how they make their movie. If she can, then Summit has given her more power than any writer in history. Even more than J.K. Rowling. And she's powerful and has a lot say in the Potter films, but changes have been made and she's had to accept them AND...

It's very possible that Rob and Kristen (especially Kristen) may be reluctant to 'go for it' onscreen. Why? Because they are lovers in real life and to depict them making love on screen exposes that to a degree; how they really kiss, how they really touch, how they really move against each other. A lot of real life lovers are reluctant to get explicit on film. Especially the women. Although we are a lot more free in sexual expression these days. Who knows how they really feel about this?

This is just a guess. Could be wrong.

Marina H said...

I think this could be complicated and awkward for them. Especially Kristen as I'm guessing she's the one who really wants this kept under wraps. I don't think Rob would jump up and down on Oprah's couch about it, but I think he would be more open. He's just got a more chatty way about him than Kristen in that he tends to wear it on his sleve and she tends to keep it close to the vest. And with her shyness. He's shy too but he can put a game face on and deal with it.

But since he has done nudity onscreen on more explicit sex scenes maybe he'll have to be the one to get her through this. I dunno. Although...

Doesn't she play a stipper/pole dancer in Welcome To The Rileys? Maybe she had to get a little more nekkid for that one than she has thus far. When is that thing coming out btw. The trailer looks great. And she's working with two powerhouses in that one; Gandolfini and Melissa Leo. Saw Gandolfini in God of Carnage on Broadway last fall. My god, does he have a presence.

I have to laugh at those who say she can't act. Then how the hell is she scoring these rolls opposite such great actors? Like William Hurt in Yellow Hankerchief. Pish. She's an actor of economy and some think that's the best acting there is.

Nik, I'm going after you, I knew I shouldn't have come on here because I adore Stephen Moyer and I will argue with you tooth and nail. Nik, have you ever seen or read an interview with Stephen? If not, let me tell you, he is outrageously outgoing, intelligent, charming, funny, and forthcoming on any subject. He has the gift of gab. He always mentions his kids and his dog (how can you not love a guy like that), he has talked about his relationship with Anna, he always tells a true story with a punchline. He is just plain endearing, and in my opinion quite sexy. BTW, he's 16 yrs older than Rob and closer to my age so I'm not so guilty about lusting after him. Did I mention he's British, too. But he does have a problem, he loves to talk, really loves to, to anyone. So SOME things Stephen says should perhaps be taken with a grain of salt, and I'm damn sure he never, ever meant to insult RTP and has apologized recently for an early put-down of "Edward". Just because he jokes about Edward as a pussy vampire, can anyone take that seriously? He's not talking about Rob for cripe sake. Do people really think that Twilight is the greatest vampire story ever told, NO it is not. Not even close. A great love story, yes, which SM for some reason I can't quite fathom since she knew little to nothing about vampire mythology decided to use as the obstacle, that the two lovers would have to overcome. Instead of the sharks and the jets, or the M & C's (can't begin to spell their names)in Romeo & Juliet, she used vampires and humans. It was genious, and I was immediately drawn in because I've always been a bit obsessed with vampires. And now I know why: Vampires are all about sex. Their biting is a simulation of the sexual act, it's sensual, violating, a bit painful, and this is only the obvious. I won't even try to analyze, the control they then have over their "victims". Enough said about that. Despite SM's genious, she was NOT the first. Charlaine Harris and some others did it first with the vampire/human love story. SM simply caught lightening because she made the vampire(s) safe and packaged it all in a way that would resonate with teenage girls. Of course, others among us, took a peek and couldn't put it down because we ALL, let's be honest, wanted to know whether that safe vampire and the human girl actually consummate their relatioship.
TrueBlood or the SS series books can be compared to Twilight ad nauseaum, but it just isn't worth it. They're two different perspectives, different universes, that have in common only the human/vampire relationship, but in both they have to deal with that fundamental difference between them. It makes for great drama. You want your vampires a bit dangerous and unpredictable, go to TB. You want them safer and PG, who inexplicably feed off animals (so Stephen said a cow, big deal!) and have no fangs, then Twilight will float your boat. I go both ways. Apples and oranges. I don't understand people taking offense at anyone who criticizes Twilight and interpreting it as a personal affront to Rob. I have read several comments in the past by people who personally did not like Twilight, but love Rob. I enjoy Twilight but as more time goes on, it has little to do with my love and appreciation for RTP. It was my introduction to him, so I'll always be thankful for that. Because Stephen Moyer chooses to joke about it, why does anyone take it so seriously. Really?

RPG...

I'm not sure how to get back on the Twitter and besides, I'm hurting right now. Been playing here to long and my hip is killing me. Need to go take something for it and move around a bit.

I'm gonna e-mail you later and if you'll explain to me how to do this, I'll be in that mansion PDQ with a silk nylon rope and a vat of baby oil.

But not tonight Rob. Although...you could gently massage my poor, sore body up and down, in and out, around and around. That would be nice.

But you guys have fun.

Gotta run. Uh...well...hobble.

If you'll go back and read my posts, you'll see that I recanted a lot of what I said in that first one. I got pissed and shot from the hip. And that's because I've read so much UNINFORMED criticism of Twilight that I blew for a minute. I love vampires and I'm sure that TB is great. And all that sex wouldn't bother me at all. I love sexy stories and I love sweet, romantic ones too. As for Stephen...

I don't know him at all, but since so many adore him, I have to assume that he's...well...adorable.

The one thing I didn't want to do was insult those who love this story or this actor. I'm afraid I did, but I have apologized for that. And I apologize to you.

And don't give up on me. I'm getting to the e-mail.

I have to sign off now. I'm really hurtin'.

Nik, I read a rumor that Kristen gets naked in On the Road with Garrett Hedlund too. Still, it must be awkward for real-life lovers to do sex scenes.

As if my previous comment wasn't long enough, sorry for boring anyone! I want to comment on BD and love scenes between B&E. I agree Nik, it might be difficult for them and honestly I have worried about how they're going to feel, especially Kristen, as you've said. But it is the character universe they have been use to and conditioned to from the very beginning, so it might feel more natural/normal for them in expanding those characters who represent their on-screen personas. I'd like to think that they are professional enough that they can put their personal feelings aside, not feel embarrassed, concentrate, and put on their Edward & Bella game faces. Afterall, there are a lot of cameras and crew around which should make it easier, less personal for sure.

@Nik, hope you might see this. Sorry you're hurting...take care of yourself first and foremost.
I never felt insulted AT ALL, just wanted to inform with my POV. And yes, he's very adorable.
But on a serious note, stop dangling that email carrot in front of me. You obviously read mine and since you haven't dismissed it or decided I'm not worthy (LOL), please take a moment...

Please bring back Disqus!
My last comment and read most of yours. I do not for a second believe that Rob tried out for the role of Bill Compton or anyone else on TB. Why? When? Makes no sense whatsoever. Sorry.

I thought Rob said he was fortunate not to have to audition for roles anymore.

Lallieb: lots of excellent points, have to agree with you on most of this.

Truth be told, Nik and I part ways on many issues related to the Twilight books and SM's characters. Not only did SM know next to nothing about vampires (and there's nothing wrong with that, nor with simply using them as coathangers for metaphors), but I believe her editors had a big hand in writing the last 2 if not 3 books, and they were very influenced by Sookie!

The point that sets SM apart is her portrayal of the Cullens as angels, a subject with which she is far more familiar and convincing IMO. And Edward as an avenging then guardian angel is a more interesting character at heart. So we would I think agree to leave the real vampire parts to Eric and Stephen, and let Rob play the more heartfelt, soul sounding role!

@Nik (who is now off wrangling with that hip!): Melissa Leo is one of my all time favorites, a very commanding presence in her own right. WTTR should be riveting, but it's small time and troubling, and not conventionally uplifting... though uplifting it is. They've had a very hard time procuring a distributor, as it's been tooted around town as a stripper movie, when it is anything but. But you are right: she does prance around for a bit in a g-string and pasties. and seems very comfortable in her skin.

So I don't think the nudity is an issue... as you say it's the revealing contact. The body language... when it's not "just" a co-star. Where is the line?

I, for one, wouldn't want to be trying to draw it! Certainly not with Mr. P on the other side. Hell, we'd jump right over that line in a heartbeat, wouldn't we?!

The audition, if it happened, was pre Twilight. This interview was retranslated from a Spanish mag, so who knows whether it is fully legit or not. But much of it sounds just like Rob.

Is it true that you did castings for vampire characters before?

Yes, I did an audition for True Blood, but that didn’t work out. I didn’t think I would get the role of Edward Cullen either, because the character is very enigmatic. I didn’t want to play the biggest vampire stereotype, so I tried to humanize him.

Coming in late on blog as just got up here and RL and all. But have scanned down the comments (bring back disqus! so we can reply to each comment and chat more easily!). Havent seen true blood but thought the photo of them all covered in blood etcc was silly - Twilight is sooo much more - and it's the usual thing from Sephen Moyer - jealousy ( sorry SM fans). Nicola6: agree with all you say about Bel Ami. We have a local run 'arthouse' cinema here and they have a festival each year which is on now and they are showing Rob's '...Ashes)!! so I think that if there is a distribution problem with BA it will go there.
