lol, I love that she's like why are you asking me this? Whatever. lol

Pretty soon R or K will be answering questions about anna--that would be so crazy if she won an oscar! Jessica Stanley winning an oscar-who would've thought?

Personally, I think she is a much better actress than Kristen Stewart!

(*murmuring* @ crovamp: so sorry to say that, but I agree, 'Runaways' trailer and K in it look awwwwful... shhhhh!) :(

I love Anna Kendrick, she's a great actress!

She is very good. Kristen is very good as well; you need to see her in other things. I haven't seen the trailer for Runaways, but saw her in Adventureland. For anyone who says she cannot capture emotion, or express it, or act, either hasn't seen her enough, or, like people ignorant enough to say Rob doesn't act in the Twilight saga movies, doesn't understand the character and how it ought to be played.
I am wondering why specifically a human hand. WHy would she zone in on that as a weird possibility to give to someone?

Sigh, I love Anna Kendrick. Amazing answer, and seriously, the girl has one of the most buzzed about performances of the year in what is said to be one of, if not the best film of the year, focus on that, not private questions about her costars!!

As for Kristen, there is a reason that she has been one of the most critically acclaimed young actresses out there (have you guys seen CakeEaters, Speak, Adventureland?) She is amazing! And crovamp, IA, even based on the little trailer, Kristen and Dakota look like they are going to own in the Runaways...so excited!

I really WISH the damn media would STOP with their poorly hidden "Robsten" question to R&K's co stars! It is getting VERY old fast, or it IS very old like, YESTERYEAR! Seriously. Anna is there to be interviewed, ask about HER, her role as Jessica or her new movie and her next projects or what she liked working with Rob and Kristen for that matter..but for the love of all things decent: STOP with these ridiculous Robsten questions already! None of them will confirm or deny, cos they do NOT do that to their co-stars, out of respect of their privacy, it is called respect.

I cannot believe how classy the Twi-stars are when they are forced to face this crap in every interview they do...incredible!

I with you crazy-vamp. I don't get the hype about "Runaways". Looks very ordinary and boring.

Sorry! I've seen all of Kristen's movies I think she is a very one dimensional actress. Dakota on the other hand is by far one of the best younger actress out there, she owns every scene she's in.

Dilia said...

Im sorry but the people are saying that both Anna and Kristen are GREAT are wrong...Anna Kendrick is an AMAZING actress, just see Rocket Science and Camp, and she was also one of the youngest ever Tony awards nominees, she was acting on broadway at the age of twelve.
Kristen stewart is a good actress but just that, good nothing really exceptional about her, she's been really good in Speak,Cake Eater,Panic Room and Adventureland, but she's slightly one dimensional in her choices of character i mean yeah she's been in a bunch of movies but so far she's played variations of the same character.
I think Anna is at the top of her game and Kristen is still getting there.

Dilla- I agree. Anna just got nominated for a SAG award and a Golden Globe as best supporting actress for Up In The Air. I bet she will get that Oscar nomination too. She already won another best supporting actress award from National Board of Review. The girl has been nominated for 11 awards, won 1, and has 7 nominations for this year and next year award season so far. The girl is on fire and is very talented. Kris has a long way to go to. There is no comparison. And she does need to branch out more. Kris is typecasting herself.

Kathy said...

Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I think that Kristen is an AWESOME actress. I've seen all of her movies and she is AMAZING. Looking SO forward to seeing the Runaways too. I love her attitude and I think she is absolutely "unique", just like Robert says.

Shani said...

Oh and it's not fuzzy math. Anna was nominated twice in 2004 and once in 2008. She won 1 award so far this year. In total 11 nominations spanning her career.

Shani said...

Kathy- Hey girl!!! Kris will rock in The Runaways, but Anna has her beat by miles when it comes to talent. You don't get nominated for nothing. Plus, Jeff the director said he saw Anna in Rocket Science and Camp and wrote the role personally for her in Up In The Air. So that says a lot. You don't have big time directors like him writing roles for actresses everyday. He saw that Anna had something special. And she did indeed hence all these nominations for major awards.

Karina said...

Anna is a natural and she's vet ---she's the youngest person to get nominated for a Tony when she was like 13.

Kristen is exceptional to people like Sean Penn and Jodie Foster and Bruce Dern and Barry Levinson, so I'm guessing she must be good as well. Jodie Foster said she is a real movie actor, not a performer. She does not perform and made the distinction for a movie actor, that you don't perform you just "are."

AP said...

Shouldn't this be Anna "doesn't" answer a question? lol

Hard to compare - very different qualities but I think both Anna and Kristen are gifted young actresses with good prospects ahead. The role in "Air" is not a real stretch for Anna, although she does it very well, and I hope she makes it to the red carpet. Er...that would be Jason, not Jeff, if you are talking about Reitman who did "Air."

Karina said...

yes, very different qualities. Anna's ability to do that rapid fire talking is in the science movie is what got her nabbed for twilight and made j.r. write that part for her. I think she's gonna get a nom for sure, which is awesome.

Kristen gets more of the "straight man" roles, where Anna is the type to get more the scene stealing, character role parts. That's just my take. Anna's talent lends itself more to comedy too, with Kristen leaning more towards drama.

Shani said...

A- Yeah Jason.

But Anna is still on top when it comes to awards. SAG and Golden Globe nominations says a hell of a lot. They are highly prestigious awards. Can't wait to see if she wins or not, but regardless she was nominated.

Shani said...

Karina- I just thought about what you said. The thing is Kris does do more drama roles playing the "straight man" and Anna does comedy. But who has more success playing their typical roles? Anna hands down.

And yes, I've heard about Jodie, Sean, Bruce, and Barry giving Kris high praise. But Kris hasn't really shown enough greatness or picked the right roles to get any nominations like Anna has.

Kris is fine, but she still has too prove herself.

I have to agree with most of the post about Kristen and Anna. Both are good actresses but Anna brings her "A" game to the screen. I saw Kristen in Speak and she blew me away, cried like a baby. I also thought she did good in Cake eaters and Into the Wild, but she is lacking something that I can't put my finger on. I saw the trailer for the Runaway's, the film looks good. Maybe this is what will justify some of the established actors praise for her. Not saying that she needs it, but when you look on paper, for as long as she has been acting, she has not received a golden globe, a sag nod, or even an oscar.
Also I think Kristen takes herself way to seriously. Most of the roles she has done have not been too different from how she seems in real life. I think she is very intellagent, but taking an acting class here and there could help her break through that barrier because from what she has stated in the past, she does't feel like she needs acting lessons. I think if she keeps thinking that way she will never be as good as she can be. All the greats had help reaching there potential.

Why are we pitting Anna and Kristen against each other?

I've noticed that these sorts of debates spring up whenever Kristen's name comes up. I think it's because Rob speaks so highly of her. It's as if folks don't feel she warrants that sort of praise.

Oh, congrats to Anna on her much-deserved success. Of all the performances in Twi and New Moon, I've always felt hers was the strongest. Such a scene-stealer!

"Anna just got nominated for a SAG award and a Golden Globe as best supporting actress for Up In The Air"

I didn't know that, I must be living under a rock. I hope whe wins. About her being a scene-stealer, definitely a yes, I really like her chararcter in Twilight and NM, way better than "book" Jessica.

Shani said...

Yves- Hey girl!!! It's not about what Rob said. I completely forgot about what he even said. It's not even in my mind anytime I think about Kris. I'm not petty like that. I'm looking at Kristen's acting and her not getting one nomination for any major awards like Anna has gotten over the years since 2004. That's it. You can't explain that away. For all of Kris high praise from Oscar winners she hasn't received a nomination for anything.Just saying.

Shani said...

RobFan 86- You so are. LOL As many commercials I've seen for Up In The Air and them showing off how many nominations they've received from the Golden Globes....where the hell have you been??? ROTFLMAO Tell me you were doing something interesting like...you were to busy with your boyfriend or husband to look up. LOL

re: nominations

Noms come about through a process. The process involves having a star quality vehicle and a studio that can back a campaign.

Anna was in a very high profile picture that's been touted as another george clooney oscar nom'ing film, the studio has set it up for such athing by releasing it at the end of the year and the campaigning for both george and ana has been strong and loud for months now.

Kristen has NOT been in such a film yet. The films she has done don't even get distributed half the time, she does po-dunk indie films lol

She is getting buzz already though if she does "American Girl" under the helm of James Woods. The early buzz is whoever gets the role is gonna get an invitation to the Oscars A female officer and a gentleman.

So a lot of this is about acting, but a lot of this is about being in a film that has the backing of a studio that's in for the long haul with campaigning and/or star power and good buzz.

Having said that, that's NOT taking away from Anna at all. She's amazing. I just think her and Kristen are hard to compare in various ways. Very different gals and different capabilities.

Shani-I wish it was because of my boyfriend but he's not that interesting (oops!) It's more about my 8-5 job, I'm also doing my master's degree...I can't keep up anymore.

Shani said...

Karina- I read that article too with James Wood interviewing her and him mentioning he wanted her for the film. I hope she does it and brings it. Because she needs to move on from those Indie movies and get into something more viable for her. Indie movies have won Oscars and other major awards, but the movies she continues to choose just aren't showcases her talent enough. And Anna has been nominated for other movies and her Broadway show. So she has been recognized for more than just Up In The Air. She's been getting nominations since 2004 and won this years National Board of Review for best supporting actress. That shows major talent. Will see about the rest of the nominations when the shows come on TV.

RobFan86- Well congrats on getting your masters girl!!! Focus on that. I can tell you later if Anna wins are not.LOL

Lol a "Human hand" that made me laugh!!

and i think anna is a great actress!! and i ALSO think Kristen is an amazing actress!! Im going crazy over the runaways!! and for whoever said it looks very ordinary and boring their wrong, but then again we all have different opinions!

I don't understand the need to compare these actors. They don't go for the same roles.
Anna is very talented for what she does. But for me UP in the air is just another overated movie just because for me i don't get the hype behind it. I saw it twice to understand what was so great about the movie and performances in it and franckly nothing for me.

That doesn't mean anna wasn't great in it, but they was nothing spectacular either.

Kristen and anna have different acting choices.
Anna model is kristen wig, she likes comedy.
Kristen role model is sean penn, jodie foster, maria bello. These are more of family drama actors.
Kristen love indie movie. And i think she is right with her choices. It's suited her well, in term of work ethic and media exposure.

Anna is 24, kristen is 19. If by the time she is 24, she hasn't got one great role, then she needs to worry. But for now, her movie choices for me are just spot on.

I find it funny that just because anna is geting a nomination and kristen isn't that means kristen is not talented. Going with that i can also say that means rob has no talent either. He doesn't have one either. His latest film were all crusified by critics. But noone here will ever say that.

Kristen have people willing to give her parts in their movie. She has tones of project. And she doesn't even know if she want to keep playing in movie.

Everyone is a better actress with a good role, a good script and a good director.

This is why i'm impatient to see rob outside twilight, to see UC and BA. I think twilight is killing his acting sense. I don't know how he can keep a straigh face when saying some of the cheesiest line ever writen.

pauleta said...

By the way wining an award doesn't mean annything for me one example is miss patrow she is so overated.
And some great actors still haven't won one, Leonardo dicaprio, viggo mortensen, emile hirsh he should have own one for into the wild, and other great actor

Merci said...

@Shani, I see what you are saying. I do agree with you, In my opinion, Anna is more talented then Kristen. Anna has a presence on screen and is consistant in her performances. I think Kristen is good, but she is not consistant. It's like Cate Blanchett. No matter what role she takes on, she becomes that character. When I saw Twilight, I didn't think Kristen was believable, I didn't get lost in the film, like I did in the book.

I also agree with Paulet, nominations don't mean too much. Kristen is in demand in the indie film market. She has the praise from very established actors. As for the list of actors that she listed that haven't won an award, Leonardo has been nominated for Oscars and I don't think Emil Hirsh should be compared to Leonardo and Viggo, just yet.

It's not that Kristen's bad, she just kinda acts the same in every role.
