New roles for Robert Pattinson as he continues to work with his favourite directors

The Cannes press conference for Good Time gave us news of exciting new roles for Robert Pattinson (click here to listen again).  Rob continues to seek out his favourite directors to work with.  Not only do we have an update on when High Life is expected to film but news of three more upcoming projects!  Click on the directors names to learn more about their previous films.

Claire Denis

Rob will play the lead role in the Science Fiction drama 'High Life' directed by Claire Denis.   Claire Denis was in Cannes and supported Rob by walking the red carpet for Good Life.  She gave a quick interview sharing that Rob's character will be "the hero, a very tender paternalistic film".  The film is planned to start shooting in Autumn. 




Johanna Hogg

We learned that Rob will play the lead role in an upcoming British production 'The Souvenir' that will be directed by Johanna Hogg.   The movie is part of a pair of films with Rob playing the lead in one of the films in the role of an actor.  (See our previous post for more details here)




David Michod

Rob announced that the press conference he would be re-teaming with David Michod.  Rob fans got to know David from The Rover and it's so exciting that they will be working together again. 




Antonio Campos

There's not much known about this new role for Rob but check the link above for Antonio's upcoming projects.




Ciro Guerra

Rob's project with Ciro is even more a mystery.  Even Rob himself seemed unsure that he should have announced it.

NEW ROLE: Martin Scorsese to produce 'The Souvenir' starring Robert Pattinson

Exciting news today from ScreenDaily of a new leading role for Robert Pattinson.  'The Souvenir' to be directed by British director Joanna Hogg will be produced by Martin Scorsese.

"Robert Pattinson, Tom Burke, Ariane Labed and Richard Ayoade are due to star in British filmmaker Joanna Hogg’s (Archipelago) next film The Souvenir, which will be executive-produced by Martin Scorsese.

Scorsese will serve as executive producer on the romantic mystery alongside his Sikelia Productions partner Emma Tillinger Koskoff.

The Souvenir, developed with the BFI and backed by BBC Films, will be made in two parts, the first feature set to shoot this summer and the second in summer 2018. 

Spanning the decade of the 1980’s, the film will chart the story of a young film student, involved in her first serious love affair, who tries to disentangle fact from fiction in a relationship with a complicated and untrustworthy man.

Only God Forgives actor Burke, who also had a leading role in BBC-TWC drama series War & Peace, will play the ‘untrustworthy man’. Pattinson, who’s Cannes competition entry Good Time is generating buzz ahead of its screening, will be the leading male role of the second film, playing an actor."

Director Werner Herzog has listed 15 September 2015 as the release date for Queen of the Desert on his website. It is not clear if this is the United States release date or for other regions. As for the Life release date watch and see on this one.

Did People Magazine let the cat out the bag?

The Hollywood Awards, airing tonight, are giving out awards for these following catagories and People said Rob is one of the honourees!

We're not sure if that was a mistake and Rob is just presenting or if they really did reveal he's getting an award. How exciting would that be??

If this goes down our bet is either on breakout for The Rover or the Spotlight Award. This might be why Rob is attending now. Either way, we can't wait to see the sweet acorn.

"Angelina Jolie, Jared Leto and Johnny Depp have been added to the Hollywood Film Awards.

They will be joined by Steve Carell, Laura Dern, Jennifer Lopez, Mike Myers, Robert Pattinson, Eddie Redmayne, Chris Rock and Hilary Swank at the annual awards ceremony, held at the Hollywood Palladium on Friday, Nov. 14 from 8-10 p.m. and broadcast on CBS. Queen Latifah hosts the 17th annual gala.

Previously announced attendees include Amy Adams, Gerard Butler, Benedict Cumberbatch, Robert Downey Jr., Robert Duvall, Jonah Hill, Keira Knightley, Michael Keaton, Julianne Moore, Jack O’Connell, Chris Pratt, Kristen Stewart, Channing Tatum, Jean-Marc Vallée, Reese Witherspoon and Shailene Woodley.

A half-hour red carpet show will kick off the evening at 7:30 p.m. Following the two-hour awards show, a one-hour aftershow with interviews and highlights from the evening, hosted by CBS This Morning's Charlie Rose, Norah McDonnell and Gayle King, starts at 10 p.m.
The Hollywood Film Awards is produced by Dick Clark Productions and was founded by Carlos de Abreu. Allen Shpiro, Mike Mahan, Mark Bracco and R.A. Clark executive produce, along with de Abreu.

And the news just keeps pouring in! Looks like the US premiere for The Rover will take place in Los Angeles! Here are the details we posted on The Rover Film:

We reached out to The Rover distributors about The Rover premiere in the states.

They let us know that a red-carpet premiere with cast attending will take place in Los Angeles the week of the US theatrical release.

The Rover opens in LA and NYC on June 13th so the premiere will take place during the week of the 9th. Specific date and theater location will follow post-Cannes.

The Rover opens nationwide June 20th. So...who's going??

With two films in Cannes - The Rover and Maps to the Stars - Robert Pattinson is on the cover of Premiere Magazine.

That's it, Robert Pattinson has definitely moved up a gear and left Twilight behind him. We will see him in two highly anticipated movies at Cannes Film Festival 2014: The Rover, a post-apocalyptic and hyper violent western, brutal and uncompromising, and Maps to the Stars, his second collaboration with David Cronenberg after Cosmopolis, a psychological family drama which autopsy Hollywood. The perfect opportunity to put him on the cover of next issue of Premiere, the Cannes issue, with its special file about Cannes, which reports on all the movies and events of this year 2014 on the Croisette.

The opportunity to interview Robert too: he talks about his sex scene with Julianne Moore in Maps to the Stars ("I was breathless, soaked ... and her, not at all"), about the hyper intense filming of The Rover (a "hungry" movie) in the middle of the Australian desert, about what Cannes means for him, about directors James Gray and Romain Gavras ... Queen of the Desert: Rob's costar, Damian Lewis, was on Good Morning America and shared that his mustache was growing in preparation for an Edwardian look for QOTD. It was cool to see some physical prepping going on for the film. Click HERE to see the video. The producers have also been chatting:

It's movie news time! First the big one of the post - Queen of the Desert will film for 1 month in Jordan, Morocco and London and includes Nicole Kidman, God Robert Pattinson, Damian Lewis and James Franco in the cast.

Queen of the Desert (Drama) This film is based on the life and loves of Gertrude Bell, the English writer, archaeologist, and cartographer who mapped Iraq and Jordan in the early 1900s. With Nicole Kidman, Robert Pattinson, James Franco, and Damian Lewis. Directed by Werner Herzog. Shoots Dec. 15, 2013–Jan. 15, 2014, in London, Jordan, and Morocco.

Alright! Let's give it up for the forward movement!



We'll see if this holds but there have been rumblings about a late 2013/early 2014 shoot for a few months. Fingers crossed! Rob will have 3 films knocked out of the park by the new year.



In other movie news, we have a couple of bits for Maps To The Stars. First, unless you've ventured over to the IMDb page, you might not have known Rob's character's full name - Jerome Fontana!



What a fun and flashy name. Say it. Out loud. It's a name with flare. And lastly, if you're in Italy, it looks like you'll be seeing Mr. Jerome Fontana in May 2014. Click HERE to check out the distribution news.
