Robert Pattinson Interview with Star Club Magazine (France)

Robert Pattinson Interview with Star Club Magazine (France)

A lot of similar stuff but Rob briefly mentioned something new. I bolded it for you. :)

Translated article...
1) How was the last day on set?
This last day in Canada marked a break from the two previous weeks that were horrible and sad when it came to the weather. It was so cold. For the last day, we finally had some sun and it was nice. Then for the last scene, we got to film on a beach, facing the ocean. There are worse work conditions.

2) How was the mood on set?
It was really nice. There were more than a hundred people for the last scene, which was great. I’d already done my biggest scenes with Kristen so we were able to relax. Like I said, we had nice weather so it was a nice way to end everything.

3) How do you feel now that everything is over?
I don’t really realize it. I’ve been part of this journey for a while now and it didn’t register yet with me that it’s almost over. Even if we finished shooting, we’re still promoting the movie, it’s being talked about so I’m still immersed in it. Maybe in a year, I’ll have moved on.

4) Are you worried of being pigeonholed as Edward?
Yes and no. it’s true that by playing Edward, I played a character that is atypical. It’s not every day you play a vampire. I know that people compare me to him a lot & that there is a risk of only getting offered vampire roles but in the last 2 years I’ve played in other movies that were from a different genre.

5) Would you like to produce?
Why not but I’d rather work in screenwriting, I don’t feel ready to tell stories yet but rather help others put theirs into form and go inside their universe. I like that a lot.

6) In the fourth film you become a dad, was that weird?
Not really, holding a baby isn’t too hard. Now playing a dad isn’t something you prepare for it's definitely something new when you’re not a father but you star to react naturally when you hold a baby in your arms. You feel like protecting it. But when Mackenzie Foy started playing Renesmee (our daughter) older, it was weirder. I told myself, ‘we have a 11 years old daughter.’ *laughs*

7) Are you living a dream?
I’m living a life that I would have never even dreamed of. Even though in some ways, it helped me become the adult that I am today. I’ve met people that share the same passion and this is amazing. Working with people who invest themselves as much as I do into their work is wonderful.

Only for Star Club
The scene that marked Rob the most is the birthing scene. Indeed, like his character in the book, he has to open her open with his own teeth. Even if it was fake, he’s still not over it. He still asks himself today if the baby that I was in the scene wasn’t traumatized as well.

The BIG question!
Do Edward and Bella finally have sex?
It’s so funny how people constantly talk about this scene. Like in the books it’s an intimate and sensual moment and maybe the scene in the movie won’t meet people’s fantasies! It’s crazy; I don’t think there’s ever been as much hype in any other movie about a sex scene.

Robert Pattinson Press Conference Interview Translations

Translations of the Q&A from the Press Conference in Brussels this morning with Robert Pattinson & Ashley Greene

WARNING: If you are eating then wait until you are finished to read! {giggle}

Transcript Twilight Belgium Translation Source

Twilight Stars Robert Pattinson and Ashley Greene are in Brussels today to promote the latest Twilight movie (Breaking Dawn Part I). At half past ten the actors were expected at the conference table, not really early but they did take some time. HLN.be was there for the entire press conference.

Robert entered the hall in his casual style of checkered shirt T-shirt and jeans jacket. And no, he had not shaved since Sunday! Ashley’s make-up was perfect, long hair impeccably combed, and a simple blue dress with sky-high heels in black shiny leather.

The duo were relaxed, Ashley was more awake than Robert, who repeatedly had to admit that he clearly wasn’t awake yet – though that did not stop him joking around. But jet lag and tiring day or not, the press and the fans wanted answers … and sometimes to the oddest questions!

Robert: "Twilight is primarily the story of Bella, so from a female perspective and because of that it appeals to many girls and women. Did the making of these movies help you to understand women?”

Robert Pattinson: “Bella is a very special girl. Most fans of the movies came via the books and that has a lot to do with Bella’s decisions, which you often think: ‘What is she doing now? That’s not logical!” But people are still able to recognize themselves in it… in the entire crazy decision. And with that I actually say that I learned that most women are crazy (Laughs). Actually I don’t think it helped me to understand women more (laughs again). I often think to just give up: it’s no use! “(laughs exuberantly) (Kate: Women Crazy?? What gave you that idea Rob? {giggles})

“You become a father is in the movie. How was that for you?”

Robert: “It was very clumsy. For women it’s natural, any woman that gives birth, take it as if she has done a million times. Men are as clumsy, are afraid to let it drop or break something.”

“It was often improvising, filming with a baby. At one point there had to be all this fake blood on the newborn baby, so we had to apply it to the baby and the child starts to cry in my arms. So we do everything to calm the baby down a bit and then I thought: “This really feels like my baby. But it was fun to play, totally different from the other films. “

“The birth scene is Robert’s favorite scene.”

Robert: “I sat there, with Taylor (Lautner, EDP) with the legs of a doll on my shoulders, eating our way through the a womb of cream cheese with some on our face.”

Ashley (interrupts): “Cream cheese? Why cream cheese? “

Robert: “That was supposed to be the uterus. That’s how it looks.” (Kate: I will NEVER look at cream cheese the same way again!)

Ashley: “Is that so? That’s good to know!” (Kate: I didn't know that either Ashley)

Why was that scene his favorite one?

Robert: “Because the sheer horror, the complete madness to film it and certainly for a movie as the Twilight series. Twilight has been an epic story, adventurous, but at the same time very romantic. Until this scene that is. Taylor and I sat there laughing some, it was so crazy… sometimes we wondered: What kind of movie is this going to be? “

“How was it to keep that scene secret, or at least try to keep it secret?”

Robert: “It was really ridiculous. While we were trying to film, there were people hiding in the bushes, and they were flying over with helicopters, really crazy.”

“To be frank it’s just a girl in a wedding dress and a man in a suit, it is all within what people expect! From afar all weddings look the same. But people are curious and they made it impossible for us to film all the time because they were trying to break into the set. Kristen had to be carried in a bag, so the dress certainly would not leak. ” (Which was only partially successful, ed)

“Was that the worst part of filming of Breaking Dawn too?”

Ashley: “No, that was the cold!”

Robert: “We also filmed all day in front of a green screen, in a kind of hangar. There was dust everywhere and combined with the lenses that we had to wear it was hell.”

Ashley: “You mean the scenes with the fake snow?”

Robert: “Yes, exactly. For two months, every day, everything was green, you felt like you were going crazy. We were filming inside but that did not make it any better.”

“Have you learned anything from your characters, something that you’re going to take with you in real life?”

Robert: “That you should not have sex before marriage!” (Laughs) No, he (Edward, ed) does have it so thats not possible. “

“Are there any downsides that you do not want to take with you in Real Life?”

Robert: “Girls often say that Edward’s “sooo perfect “, but he’s not. I don't like people who try to exert control in a relationship, when there is an imbalance. This is very wrong and very strange. Fortunately, he finally gives up and he tries not to boss Bella around.”

“I can not say that I am similar to Edward. From the beginning, the relationship between Edward and Bella is complicated, there is always danger against which they must fight. He thinks far too much, which doesn’t really make him lighthearted. That’s not how I am at all! “

Which he proved with all the jokes he made during the press conference.

“What else is in store for you today? You don’t happen to have some time to eat a waffle with us?”

Robert: “I have absolutely no idea what my schedule is, I know just where I have lunch.” (Kate: That's all you need to know Rob. Everything else will take care of itself!)

Ashley: “We are simply told that we have to be somewhere, that’s it.”

Robert: “My manager was standing at the window of my room this morning and pointed at just about the most important monuments of Brussels. I have the impression that the city consists mainly of churches (laughter). Sorry, I really say the stupidest things without thinking I do not know what’s wrong with me (laughs again). I would like to see Brussels ….

Ashley (jokingly): “Just buy a book!” (Both laugh)

Finally: “Will there be a sequel to Twilight, and if so, will you then resume the same parts?”

Ashley: “That’s for Stephenie Meyer (author of the series) to decide actually. For me: I’m done with Alice Cullen.

Robert: “Breaking Dawn completes all the stories too nicely. A sequel would be a bit odd: a sequel to do what? What could happen? Everything has come together. As for titles there is another problem: how would we call it… “More Breaking Dawn”? I mean… that doesn’t work now does it? “

Bye bye Twilight
Exclusive interview
Sad news for all Twi-Hards. With Breaking Dawn coming closer, the Twilight Saga is really approaching the final end. One relief: Fancy got the chance to fly to LA for an parting interview with Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. ‘When we were filming the final scenes, we all started crying’.

Robert Pattinson
‘Because of my fame, I think like a spy now’.

We heard that during a steamy sex scene, you destroyed a bed!
‘You are very aware, hahaha! When Kristen and I had to play the honeymoon, I totally immersed in the scene. But I need to make it clear: the bed isn’t destroyed. Because of the love bites with my vampire teeth, only some pillow covers and sheets from expensive, Egyptian linen are mutilated. But still dreadful.’

Have you taken a reminder from the set?
‘Hmm, let’s think… During shooting I stole the bathrobe from my hotel room for the first time, haha! But from the Breaking Dawn-set I haven’t taken anything away. While shooting Eclipse I did. I shipped some BMX-bikes from the film to my home in LA. But when the film crew discovered that, I had to give them back.’

Because of Twilight you have become a celebrity. Does that only have benefits or are there also some downsides?
‘Being famous is very cool! I travel a lot, I meet very nice people… But it also has some downsides. I’m searching for a home in London at the moment. While viewing the house, lots of strange thoughts popped up in my mind. Can paparazzi park their cars in front of this house? Are strange fans able to camp on my pavement? I think like a spy or a secret agent and that’s pretty weird.’

What are you planning to do after Twilight?
‘After Breaking Dawn you will be able to see me in the movie Bel Ami and in the drama Cosmopolis. But what I’m really excited about is to start making music again. I play the guitar and the piano and between shooting the scenes I wrote lots of songs. So I can’t wait to perform again. The energy you feel when you show up in a full house: super!’

Taylor's part after the cut. Briefly mentions Rob and Edward.

New Q&A interview with Robert Pattinson for L'Express (France)

I did a google translation until we get something better:

Robert Pattinson, if you were ...

Young English actor, star of Twilight takes the top billing in Water for Elephants. Cosmopolis Meanwhile, the next Cronenberg ...

If you were a place ... The South Bank in London. Between the Hayward Gallery, National Theatre and all other activities, I will not ever bother. I would also say New York to the breathtaking skyline formed by the buildings and the fast pace of this city, whatever time of day.

A cartoonist... Ralph Steadman, illustrator of texts delusional Highway Gonzo, Hunter S. Thompson. His line is simple and disturbed never leave me indifferent. The other reason is, perhaps, that I can draw almost like him!

A dish of childhood ... The boiled eggs with salt on the side and toast at your fingertips. Inevitably, this makes me feel like Saturday, when my mother was preparing this dish. I'm a bit nostalgic for that period.

An animal ... An elephant. It is an intelligent animal and soothing. On one incredible dexterity. I learned a lot from him while working on the film. I would also add the giraffe, since I had the opportunity to play with a baby giraffe barely bigger than me. Their black tongue surprised.

An era ... I am a big fan of music and clothing style of the 1960s. Whether in England or the United States, while I like this period.

An album of music ... It is difficult to choose one. I give you my top 5: Night Train Oscar Peterson, One Love by Bob Marley & The Wailers, Moondance, Van Morrison, Abbey Road, Beatles, and Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), the Wu-Tang Clan. They tell me all their own way.

An artist ... The man-cannon at the circus. I like the risk. I love having the feeling of flying. Being a woman shaving I would not mind either. To avoid having to shave!

A book ... Money, Money, Martin Amis. I read when I was 15, I read hundreds of times since and he continues to make me howl with laughter. Amis has managed to create a world that is both funny and biting. I'd love to play John Self, the hero depraved and without illusions he has created.

An essential garment ... Without hesitation, the underwear: it's really the only piece you need! Here and sunglasses, which are an accessory that I love! At home, I am constantly in that outfit. (Tink: o.O)

A quote ... "Mistakes are the doors of discovery", by James Joyce. In a similar register: "A man, it can be destroyed but not defeated" by Ernest Hemingway. Both remind me that our biggest mistakes are the experiences that we learn the most. And gives hope to improve, everyone, the desire to live the next day, right?

You know how these things go. Elements may be lost in translation. So either take it with a grain of salt or give yourself a headache.

-Where's your house?
"I don't have one. Or rather, I have my parents' house in London, but my room has become a sort of warehouse where I leave the stuff I can't take with me. I can't take too many things, 2-3 bags at most. That's why I always wear the same clothes."

- We will see you in Breaking Dawn part 1 and 2 soon.
"They are the harder movies of the series, and I wonder how they're going to distribute them with a PG 13 rating. There are a lot of sex scenes and so many other things that are not suitable for children" (his look gets mischievous and cheerful)

- How similar are you to Edward?
"We both think sex without love doesn't make sense"

-What if they asked you to keep playing this role?
"That's a closed chapter. I've just finished filming Bel Ami where I play a cynical, seducer, social-climber. Then I will be the main character in David Cronemberg's Cosmopolis. I'll play the role of an American millionaire who, within 24 hours in Manhattan, lives his descent into hell. I still can't believe I'll be working with a director like Cronemberg. And I even wanted to quit acting after Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire! Nobody wanted me, while my band was starting to sign its first contracts and earn some money. Then I got offered the role of Salvador Dalì in Little Ashes. After that movie I realized I really liked acting and put music aside."

- So you won't play a romantic role ever again?
"Never say never. But I need to change a bit, or either the audience and I would get bored eventually." Panic: we're already orphan because of Leonardo Di Caprio, will we be orphan because him as well? It would be a bad piece of news since I'm interviewing the romantic hero Pattinson on the romantic wedding day between William and Kate. I don't even have the time to finish the sentence that he asks "How did the Royal Wedding go? Have they already kissed?" Yes, the kind of kiss you and Kristen shared in public...And there's back his polite and irresistible smile, as he explains "I've been avoiding this topic for years, but I can say I love big love stories"

I am not a romantic person

From a vampire to a veterinarian: After his performances in the Twilight trilogy, Robert Pattinson (24) keeps his image nowadays as the biggest idol in teenage-love being the rosy-cheeked veterinarian Jacob in the new movie "Water For Elephants."

In his private life he seems to go easy on love. When asked about his relationship with Kristen Stewart, Rob said to tz-Hollywood correspondent Dierk Sindermann:

"I like being in love." Does this prove all the rumors about the break-up with Kristen Stewart? Rob confirms:

"At the moment I'm busy promoting my new movie Water For Elephants"

So you have no time for romance?

Robert Pattinson: In general I'm not a romantic person. When I was 14, I put a flower on the chair of a classmate. She thought it was from someone else. (laughs) I decided that that was the end of me with being romantic.

Let's try it with reality. What's the ideal quality you look for in a woman?

Robert Pattinson: Her sense for independence. In a relationship you risk to blend personalities.

Most of the time it's the kiss of death.

Talking about kisses. There had been a celebrity auction, where a kiss from you has been auctioned. For 20-thousand dollars...

"I approach animals as I approach human beings."
What's next after Twilight? In "Water For Elephants" the British actor Robert Pattinson expands his dreamboy-image. An encounter.

-

Robert Pattinson puts his hands - he never really knows what to do with those - in his pockets and leans his upper body forward as if he braces himself against the wind. The body language says it all. The 24-year-old actor has been in the eye of the hurricane since the first "Twilight" movie (2008), that he's only partly able to relate to. He doesn't want to seem ungrateful, but neither he has made peace with the hype yet: "I don't know if you can ever make peace with something like that. At the beginning I had no idea that I have to run along to keep on working. And that's what I'm constantly doing right now, so I'm not too concerned about it."

His latest movie is called "Water For Elephants" and is a in beautiful pictures put, classical love story: Pattinson plays a veterinary student named Jacob (what may make "Team Edward" fans wonder), who joins a traveling circus in the economically troubled thirties and falls in love with the wife of the brutal circus director (Christoph Waltz).
"I've been to the circus only once, when I was seven", Pattinson remembers. "My sister told me a clown was killed in a stunt. That haunted me. Years later she confessed that she had invited the story."

Exaggerator and "understator"

At the beginning of his career Pattinson became an exaggerator and told in auditions that he'd studied at Oxford University. "When you speak with a British accent in Hollywood, everybody accepts it without any problems." Today he's being completely modest wherever it's possible. Just don't sound conceited, that's his name of the game. When asked what he's saved on his iPod, he answers almost apologetically: "That sounds out of this world but right now I'm listening to the composer Penderecki." About the handling of animals on set of WFE he says: "I approach animals as I approach human beings, so it was like I had met just some very nice people." Then he laughs, rubbing his hands he looks into nowhere and adds: "Dude, I sound so stupid!"

Enthusiast

Reese Witherspoon, who plays the director's wife in "Water For Elephants", knows how to navigate from the teenie sensation to the "thouroughbred" performer from her own experience. "I admire Rob's enthusiasm and how hard he works", praises the ten year older actress her co-star. "He's shy, reads a lot and watches old movies. I tried to go out with him but loads of fans besieged the set so he stayed at home, understandable."

Although Robert Pattinson has nowhere his peace in public, his fans do not necessarily follow him to the movies. His melancholic love story "Remember Me" (2010) didn't even bring 20 Mio. $ in the US. Therefore, the marketing machine of Fox doesn't build on the girls magnet Pattinson for "Water For Elephants", but on Sara Gruen's bestseller and the subject of love in the circus.
"Rob is smart, he knows that he still has to expand his portfolio beyond Edward Cullen", "New Moon" director Chris Weitz says.

Screenwriter

After the Twilight Saga's two final parts of "Breaking Dawn", Robert Pattinson plays next a billionaire in David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis". And besides he also writes: He's currently adapting a novel by Lillian Hellman to a script. But he wants to publish it under a pseudonym, because he's convinced: "I'd automatically be crucified."
In the future the young actor wants to have more control over his films and to have more time for the realizations of those.

"In addition I'd like to live in a neighborhood where no one constantly needs to be afraid of break-ins.", he expands his wish list. With his never officially confirmed girlfriend Kristen Stewart he shares a house in the Hollywood Hills where paparazzis and fans regularly lurk around. Keeping those on the other side of the fence seems to be as tricky as an unnoticed trip to his favourite burger stand.

„Oscar“-Star Christoph Waltz kommt.

Er lacht noch mehr. Seine groĂźen blauen Augen gucken mich an. Seine Zähne blenden: „Well, ja, ich bin Single, aber ich bin auch verliebt.“

Translation:

JOY Magazine Germany:
"I'm quite a coward"
Robert Pattinson (24) takes a break of playing a vampire and discovered his heart for animals on set of his new movie.

You play a young vet who works for a travelling circus. Why did this role attract you?

"I liked just rolling around in the dirt the most. (laughs) My character in the 'Twilight' movies is so obsessional. I always have the same expression, I'm not allowed to change my face and never sweat. If I just have a tiny bead of sweat, suddenly five makeup artists bustle around me."

Was it difficult shooting with animals?

"It's probably similar to shooting with babies, they don't adhere to stage directions either. Elephants do whatever they want. Whenever I had unexpectedly a trunk in my face, I had to improvise spontaneously. "

Are you afraid of the wild animals?

"Oh yes, especially of the zebras, because they are so unpredictable. Once a zebra ran towards us and I ran away in panic. Later I heard that everyone made fun of me. Christoph Waltz always joked that he throw himself in front of Reese to save her life, while I apparently disappeared behind a caravan like a coward. (laughs)"

You've also filmed several scenes with a dog. Is that why you now have your own dog?

"Yes, after the shooting I directly adopted my four-legged friend from the animal shelter. He was going to be put down the next day. He's a mongrel and I'm still looking for a name. The poor was completely confused at the beginning: One day still in the shelter, the next day he's already in the privat jet from Vancouver, where I'm shooting 'Breaking Dawn' since 6 months, to LA and now lives in the 'Four Seasons'. (laughs)"

The dog has indeed taken over your heart at first sight. Do you also believe in love at first sight with women?

"Yes, because I've always noticed at the first meeting if a woman is something special. I absolutely believe in the big love - it's such a great feeling! When you're in love with someone, you want to show her all the time, that she's the best in the whole wide world."

Who did you have a crush on as a teenager?

"I was head over heels in love with Kate Moss."

Why do you actually never talk about your relationship to your co-star Kristen Stewart?

"I've never had the need to reveal my love life. I cured of that already when I was 12. At that time I asked a girl out and the other day everybody was whispering and laughing in school. What a fuss! It was so childish and embarrassing, so that I've never spoken to that girl again. (laughs) The more people know about you, the more they also speculate about the rest. That also has a devastating effect on the stock exchange. (laughs)"

Do you understand that many people envy your great life?

"Just because they don't know it in detail. My life is actually pretty boring. I work all day, live in hotels, sit in airplanes or sleep in the car."

Do you do something about arranging your hotel room a bit more personal?

I always have my guitar collection with me. Unfortunately I can't practise until late at night, the shooting start too early. And I always take my own TV with me, the ones in the hotel suck. Meanwhile I own around 5,000 DVDs - from which I haven't seen 4,000. That's an advantage when you spend much time alone in hotels: I'm becoming a real movie connoisseur. (laughs)"

Ugh. Translated articles hurt my brain. Some of this might sound a bit off so don't take the quotes to the bank. I need someone to ask him about this traveling TV. This isn't the first time we've heard this but it keeps popping up in foreign press. I'll ask Nick to confirm this. ;)

An english survey says that 87% of english women, of every age would replace their husbands immediately with Robert Pattinson. And I suspect that every woman in the world would do the same. Pattinson, 25 next May 12, (Kate: I think you mean May 13th!) a very tall man (1.85 cm) skinny, pale and apparently unhappy (as vampires should be), (Kate: You mean Edward is unhappy? Rob looks perfectly happy to me!) is the center of a mass idolatry similar only to the Leonardo di Caprio’s (Titanic).

Another movie, Breaking Dawn, divided in two chapters (first will come out November 18th 2011, second one November 16th, 2012) after that date Twilight Saga and his Edward will be in retirement. And he and Kristen Stewart will be free, if they want to, to live their love freely, a love that they never confirmed.

Since the series began, in 2008, semi-unknown Pattinson, chosen from 5000 candidates, has risen to 15th place on the most payed actors list. For Breaking Dawn he asked and obtained $12.5milion for every movie; when he changed genre he renounced to a lot of money: for his new job “Water for Elephants” he asked only $1.5milion . “But I need to put my foot down and to wake up”, he says very seriously. Based on Sara Gruen's most successful novel, set in the ’30s, the movie follows Jacob that becomes a vet in a circus by chance. And falls in love with Marlena (Reese Whiterspoon), even though she is married to the ringmaster and animal trainer August (Christoph Waltz).

What attracted you to this story?
RP: The script: I react to words and descriptions in a visceral way. If I can feel myself in the story immediately, then this must be the right script to do.

SCANS: Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon interview with Miradas Magazine

Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon talk to Miradas Magazine (Argentina) about Water for Elephants. Familiar quotes and some new fun bits. :)

You’ve worked together before, how was that experience?

Reese: Yes! We met on the set of Vanity Fair. I played his mother (laughs). I was like 28.
Rob: I was like 16.

Can you describe your journey as Marlena?

Reese: It’s amazing. I feel so lucky playing this role. Marlena was abandoned when she was little and she found her way in 1920 America, a time when the country was going through the Depression. It was a great experience playing a woman that has an amazing journey through out the movie going through a violent relationship and finding finally some hope in her life.

Rob, when does Jacob join the circus?

Rob: He’ studying to become a vet in College. He’s about to take his finals when his parents die in an accident. He finds out they put their home on a second mortgage and the clinic where he was supposed to work to pay for his studies. He gets on a train and tries to find job, he realizes he’s on a circus’ train. He sees Marlena the first day and she’s one of the reasons he decides to stay and work for the circus.

Reese, how was your training for the movie and your training to work with the elephant?

Reese: I trained for three months. I visited twice a week at her ranch where she lives with 6 other elephants. I fell off many times, but she is very skilled. She can pick up things the size of a pencil or a person. She picked me up with her mouth the first time we met. It was incredible.

Did you bond with the elephant in real life?

Reese: Yes. Today is the last day on set and I’m very sad about it. Having this amazing relationship with an animal is so magical.
Rob: I’m sad too. It’s weird. These elephants have an amazing aura. You feel so peaceful when you’re with them. I could sit next to her all day.

What about the other animals?

Rob: The lion gets mad pretty easily (laughs).
Reese: The zebras are crazy! One time one of them ran loose and we all had to run away from it, I took Christoph and had to hide behind him.
Rob: I think the zebra ran directly toward me (laughs), so I got out of the way like any sane person would, and I turned around the corner and it looked like Christoph was protecting Reese, but in reality, she was grabbing him like a shield in front of her (laughs).

Was it challenging working with horses?

Reese: It was harder than the training with elephants. I grew up riding horses but I hadn’t done it in a while. n the movie I had to straddle the horse and perform many stunts.

Was it easy for you to play your role, Rob?

Rob: Yes I think I can relate more to animals than to people. I discovered that each animal has its weaknesses. If you bring mints and candy elephants will love you. Giraffes will do anything you want if you wash your hands in fruit juice. There was a giraffe that trainers had been having problems with for 6 months because she refused to do anything. I went to her with my arms soaked in apple juice and she followed me everywhere.

Did you read the book before the movie?

Reese: I hadn’t read the book before making the movie. It was one of the books that I had in my house but had never read, I thought “I’ll read it soon” but never did. I found that it’s a beautiful love story. Sara Gruen, the author, did some major research for this book. It must’ve been a wonderful experience for her when she visited the set and seeing all the things she had imagined being brought to life.
Rob: I hadn’t read the book until I got the part. I was reading it on a plane and I realized a girl next to me was reading it too. Then I had to fly to do some final scenes for Eclipse and another person was reading it on the plane. It was so weird.

This role if very different from your role in Twilight. How exciting is this to you?

Rob: It’s amazing to work with such great actors. I didn’t know what to expect when I signed on. When I met the elephant I thought she was so amazing and I didn’t want anyone else to play this role. This has been an amazing experience from day 1. Everybody is very involved. It will be a great movie.

This seems to be made up of snippets of old interviews.
Bear in mind (as always) that some is probably lost in translation!

Translation via fleetbuddy of imdb

This is the fifth time I’m meeting with Robert Pattinson.

He came to the interview by himself, without any entourage. He looks like he just rolled out of the bed. “I don’t care what people think of me, even if it sounds cocky” – he says like he could hear my thoughts about his appearance. – “I don’t like to be surrounded by crowds. The more people around you, the more judgment. I don’t have stylist or publicist – I don’t need them, and I don’t have to spend my money on them…”

After his first “Twilight” movie Pattinson turned from cute star-neophyte into major male movie icon following traditions started by Rudolph Valentino, Clark Gable and now-a-days continued by Jude Law.

When he was 12 years old, Robert started his career as a model and even was a face of Britain fashion house Hackett, but now he talks about it as the most unsuccessful career of a model ever.

Robert Pattinson is one of the reasons the “Twilight” movie turned into a phenomenally successful franchise which never semms to end. First part of final book “Breaking Dawn” will be released at the end of 2011, the second – in 2012. But we don’t have to wait that long to see Robert on the screen – circus drama “Water For Elephants” will be released in April… [Author tells about movie plot]…
When this movie is released, everyone, even Robert’s critiques will have to admit that his acting is supreme and the women’s idol is ready for new roles.

Does Robert consider himself a sex-symbol? He prefers to joke about it saying that vampires are real sex-symbols because they are forever young.
Robert - “I wouldn’t say that I’m a fan of vampires, but I don’t have anything against them…There is an opinion, that the platonic relationships between Bella and Edward has a positive influence on teenagers. Also, just think about it, as a vampire I have to apply tons of makeup – it’s so sexy! And, before Twilight I couldn’t find a girl that would agree to go on a date with me, and now everything changed! Isn’t it weird?”

We actually did an impossible mission – did an interview with our precious Robert Pattinson and didn’t ask him questions about vampires even once. We managed actually talk with him and not ask about blood, afterlife and Kristen Stewart. We’re in shock,

Elle Girl: Hi, Rob! Let’s talk about love.
Robert: Oh, again. (smiling) Ok, you can. What’s interesting about that?

EG: Your character in WFE fell in love from the first sight. Do you believe in love like that?
R: Of course

EG: Did it happen to you?
R: Million of times. I actually think that most people fall in love the moment they see their love for the first time.

EG: And how can you tell that you fall in love?
R: I can’t answer that. Really. I don’t know. You have very hard questions.

EG: Robert!
R: How can you describe love? If you love someone then you think that this person is the best in the world, don’t you? But if she doesn’t think that way about herself?? I think, the whole point to make her believe that she’s perfect, the most beautiful. (Kate: OK how could you not love this guy!?)

(I fixed the bits that didn't make sense but I'll put up a better one as soon as it comes out)

Scans/Transcription byTwilightWorldMexico

It is the Depression-era United States in the 1930's. The people of Weehawken, New Jersey are dressed in the fashion of the time: men in hats, ties and jackets, women in long dresses and floral, children in shorts and hats. People are on the lookout fabulous parade Benzini Brothers Circus, whose promotional posters proclaiming them as "the most spectacular show on Earth." Everything would be perfect if you do not walk among the road of technicians and production crew of a film, those who break the illusion of a journey into the past.

This is the set of Water for Elephants, at the film studios of 20th Century Fox in Los Angeles under the direction of Francis Lawrence (Constantine, 2005; I Am Legend, 2007), and is one of the most anticipated productions 2011 due to its compelling storyline of romance, based on the best-selling novel by Sara Gruen (adapted by Richard LaGravenese), and especially its star cast: Reese Witherspoon, Robert Pattinson and Christoph Waltz.

The plot centers on the story of Jacob (Pattinson), who about to graduate as a vet, drops out of school following the death of his parents. Fate leads him to join a traveling circus, where he becomes romantically involved with Marlena (Witherspoon), acrobat star and wife of violent animal tamer August (Waltz), which starts an ardent love triangle.

THE CIRCUS OF A SHOOTING

Before the interviews, the journalists are put in a convenient place to watch the circus parade, consisting of a band, clowns, strong men, dwarfs, the trapeze artists and jugglers, and the different animals: a giraffe, lion, two camels, two llamas, three ponies, three zebras, some draft horses, a hippopotamus and trained dogs. But the highlight is the appearance of Reese, mounted on Rosie, the elephant, accompanied a few meters by Waltz and Pattinson. The great uncertainty of about 300 extras who have been called to this day, cheers to this truppa circus.

Translation
(Please keep in mind that some things can be lost in translation)

The real prototype of these generational mutations is Rob Pattinson: 24 years old, an Englishman in Hollywood, where he became famous worldwide playing the pale vampire Edward Cullen (and, even before, Cedric Diggory, a model student at Hogwarts in the Harry Potter series). He jokingly admits to be “nothing special, one of those who live in hotels and travel the world”. However, he created a new masculine identity, surprising even for the Facebook sub-culture who’s made him a star via the social network. Today is the eve of an important test for him: his new movie, WFE: he’s the protagonist of a melodramatic film, set in a circus, from the bestselling book by Sara Gruen. […]

Having been labelled as a teen idol, you’re now being tested as a true actor.
I had this chance to act with Cristoph Waltz and I fall in love with Marlena (Reese), his wife. Travelling with the circus, I visit areas of America far from Hollywood. There are dark secrets in this movie, as in life. And there’s this idea of life-saving love, which I believe in. I’m not cheesy, but I have a romantic soul.

Do you get on well with girls?
I grew up with two older sisters, and I have a great respect for women. I hate the lack of prudishness, I get bored when people are ostentatious of their body. Sex and feeling for me walk side-by-side.

Your rock side: people say you spend nights with your friends listening to Tom Waits, Van Morrison and the late Jeff Buckley.
Music is a key aspect of my life. I wish I could play a movie about Buckley, his voice, his songwriting gave me a lot. I’m interested in his creativity, in his existence, even in his death by drowning in 1997, in the Mississippi.

What kind of use do you do of Internet?
A practical use. My favourite movie last year was The Social Network and one day I’d like to work with David Fincher. Everything he does is interesting, and he got the best out of an actor I really admire, Jesse Eisenberg.

*NEW* Robert Pattinson Photo & Interview In Elle Magazine (Russia)

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Briefly coming out of "Twilight" to give "Water for Elephants", the most charming vampire in the world, Robert Pattinson talked with Galina Galkina.

They say you agreed to participate in the movie "Water for Elephants" only after meeting your partner - Tai the elephant. How did she win you?
Rob: Her trainer asked me "Do you want to see what tricks she can do?" It turns out that Tai can do a parody of a horse and even a chicken! When the trainer asked her to show a horse, she did this "Frrr!" sound. How can you get an elephant to do this? She knows how to play ball and even can make a stand at the forelegs. And I thought, "This is an amazing animal! I was very lucky that I was invited to be in a movie with her!"

Do you have pets?
Rob: For 18 years I had a dog. She died two years ago. Now I have another dog. I bought it two, no, three days ago.

Really? What's the breed?
Rob: It's a little puppy, common mongrel. I took it from the animal shelter, he should have been put to sleep today. And now he's going to be my dog.

How old is he? He cries at night?
Rob: Six months. No, he's very quiet. He hasn't utter a sound. This is very strange (laughs)

Who do you want to be when you were a child?

Rob: When I was young, I dreamed of becoming a pianist, but later became interested in politics and decided that this was my future. And I decided to become an actor after all (laughs)

Is there a talent that you would like to have?
Rob: I'd like to know how to dance. I'm very bad at dancing.

What was the nickname you had as a child?
Rob: There isn't. Everyone called me by my name only

Reese has admitted that she was very lucky that she had to kiss you. How can someone seduce you in real life?
Rob: I think if a girl is smart, talented and ambitious, then she has a chance (laughs) I've always liked that.

Do you consider yourself beautiful?
Rob: I don't consider myself particularly beautiful! (Laughs)

Can you describe yourself in three words?
Rob: Oh God! (Laughs) Well, I don't know. Yes! I don't know. It's three words (laughs)

Have you ever dated several girls at once?
Rob: In real life?

Yes, in real life

Rob: No, I don't think so

A lot of people are afraid of the circus. Do you have a phobia? What are you afraid of?
Rob: Drowning. I can't stand to be under water (Kate: Must have made filming "Goblet Of Fire" fun (NOT))

Do you know how to swim ?
Rob: (laughs) I'm very bad at it. And I wouldn't want to learn how to do it better.

Between the filming of "Twilight" and "Water for Elephants" you had to change your hair color - by yourself. Are you ready for other experiments?
Rob: I would really like to play a very fat man. I'd like to get fat for some kind of role. This is so cool! (Laughs) But at the same time I am afraid that afterwards I can't lose weight and will stay fat man for the end of my life.

And were you ever on a diet?
Rob: Yes (laughs) It's awful. I will need a diet soon because I have to appear without a shirt in one scene (laughs)

I heard that you played Reese Witherspoon son in "Vanity Fair"?
Rob: Yes, it was my first role

How interesting! And now you're playing her lover. At this pace she will soon play your daughter!
Rob: (laughs) And I am - her mother!

Reese said that you laughed a lot on the set. When were you laughing for the last time?
Rob: I was shooting the final "Twilight" movie and I had to fight with another character. It's still stands before my eyes, how funny he did one move (tries to show it, sitting on a chair). Charlie Bewley had a huge cloak on, and he needed time to throw all this cloak away. When I talk, it does not seem funny, but if you saw how it happened, you would have laughed heartily too.

And when were you fighting for the last time not in the movie?
Rob: I was probably 20 or 21 years old. It was very strange (laughs). One guy approached me and tried to rob me while I was with my five friends. I told him, "What are you doing?" (Laughs) So it was quite a small fight. We hit each other just for once. That's all.

At the beginning of the film "Water for Elephants" Jacob is ninety years old, he lives in a nursing home. What do you think you'll be doing in, say, not seventy, but at least thirty years?
Rob: In thirty years I will be 54. I have no idea.

Yes, when you're young time passes so quickly. But there's a lot of rumors about the end of the world. What do you think about this?
Rob: I'd like to think that the real threat of the end of the world will arrise when i'll still be alive, and then we'll all have to move to another planet (laughs). I really want to live on another planet. But in reality, this does not necessarily have to be the end of the world, so I hope all this does not happen.

There's always rumours about you having a romance with Kristen Stewart, Reese Witherspoon, Emma Watson. Rumors about romance with what actress or singer it would have been nice to hear for you?
Rob: Hmm .. There is nothing good about these rumors (laughs). I'm trying to remember someone interesting, but no one comes to mind. Maybe someone, like .. No, nothing comes to mind. Sorry.

This picture is from the international press junket for Water For Elephants. The interview reads oddly because it was translated sooooooo....don't take this to your grave. Enjoy the cute picture though! He looks very young which is appropriate right now :)

I rescued my Movie-Dog

Pale skin, tousled hair, dark circles around the eyes. „Twilight“ – Star Robert Pattinson seems a little tired out, as I, the Bravo-Reporter, meet him for this interview at the Four Season Hotel in Beverly Hills. May the reason be a secret visitor in his bed?

You look tired. Didn´t you sleep well?

The days of shooting are hard in my bones. Also I traveled last night in a private plane from the Breaking Dawn Set in Baton Rouge – Louisiana to Los Angles (3000 km) for this interview with you.

The „Twilight“ shooting seems to be very complex?

We shoot two movies at ones, so the shooting takes longer. I would like to tell you more from the set, but I´m not allowed to do so.

What we know is: Bella and Edward get married and she gets pregnant. How is your Kristen as a Mom to be?

I think the pregnancy its very becoming to her. The fake baby bump looks really authentic. Personally she want´s to wait before she get´s kids.

Latley we not only saw you snuggle with her, but also with a little dog. Do you have a new friend?
Yes, my partner from my new movie „Water for Elephants“ – a Jack-Russel-Terrier grow to my heart. He´s from a shelter and should have been turn back to the shelter after the shooting. I couldn´t do that, so I adopted him. Only the right names is missing yet.

How do you call him?
I just say: „Dog come here“ . He understands this and doesn´t move fromm y side. „Dog“ did a good catch, from the shelter to a moviestar. As we checked in at the hotel in L.A. he got a boul with luxus-water. I had to watch out for his pampering. Not that he will be a diva in the end.

Is he allowed to sleep in your bed?
Normally not. But sometimes, when he jumps at night in the bed, I am just too tired to remove him from the bed. I should be more strict to him.

Apropos strict: In „Water for Elephants“ your hair is a neat side parting. Do you like this better than your tousled hair?
Uhm....I think I look a little bit to well-behaved, what do you think? My hair seems to live a life of its own. The hairdresser on the set had to do much effort to get my hair this neat.

What look does Kristen like more?

I think the tousled hair (smirks)
Tink: *crickets* I wish we only had video recorded interviews with Rob...or let a real fan interview him ;)

Update: my brain is so fried I forgot I know the information on the dog from Water For Elephants...ya know...from WaterForElephantsfilm.com. The dog DOES have a name too. Uggy. And it's a male. So I can't make heads or tails of what this interview even means. Again...I wish we only had video recorded interviews with Rob.

You know....so much talk of Rob and dogs and Rob and Martin, his assistant's stray dog...it has me reflecting on this lovely performance...I miss his music...
