Robert Pattinson's "Water For Elephants" Filming Location Will Not Be Confirmed Until April

Despite widespread Internet rumors stating that a certain vampire will visit Ithaca this summer, no production plans for the movie Water for Elephants will be confirmed until April, according to University Press Officer Blaine Friedlander.

“If they are going to film [Water for Elephants] here, we would love to have them and we would love to cooperate,” Friedlander said.

After rumors began to spread, the University called Fox 2000, the production company that won a bidding war to film the movie, but nothing final has been planned, according to Friedlander.

The movie, based on the best-selling novel written by Sarah Gruen, will tell the story of a Cornell veterinary student who drops out of school just before graduation and joins the circus.

While only Reese Witherspoon has confirmed her participation in the film, Robert Pattinson, of Twilight fame, has been in talks with producers for over a month about the part of Cornellian Jacob Jankowski.

Christoph Waltz, the award-winning actor who played a supporting role in 2009’s Inglourious Basterds as a sadistic German officer, has been offered the part of the nefarious circus trainer married to Witherspoon’s character, according to reports from MTV.com. The role had been previously offered to Sean Penn, but talks fell apart as Penn continued his humanitarian mission in Haiti.

Jankowski’s story in Water for Elephants is told through a series of flashbacks recounted from his nursing home bed. Cornell University, although not at the center of the story, will presumably be the setting for multiple flashbacks, including the pivotal moment when Jacob learns of his parents’ death.

Filming on campus would generate revenue for local businesses and excitement for students, faculty and locals alike. Bruce Stroff, the marketing communications manager for the Ithaca/Tompkins County Convention and Visitors Bureau, said the movie could mean expenditures of up to $50,000 a day locally, according to the Ithaca Journal.

Water for Elephants would not be the only recent major motion picture to feature the University. In the 2009 film Up in the Air, nominated this year for a Best Picture Oscar, actress Anna Kendrick portrays Natalie Keener, a recent Cornell graduate with a psychology minor.

In Neverwas, produced in 2005, Aaron Eckhart plays a Cornell professor who leaves the University to work at a private mental institution where his father, played by Nick Nolte, spent some time. Neither film features any scenes shot in Ithaca, according to the Internet Movie Database.

Even if Water for Elephants never makes the journey to Tompkins County, Ithaca can still claim its place in cinematic history. According to local historian and founder of Ithaca-made Movies, Terry Harbin, before Hollywood became the center of the entertainment industry in the 1920s, independent studios had the chance to reach national audiences with thrilling action serials.

Starting in 1914, what is now Stewart Park in downtown Ithaca became the home of Wharton Inc., a silent movie production company. Before ending in financial ruin in 1919, the company produced more than 70 multi-part movies with major movie stars of the era, including Pearl White, Irene Castle, Lionel Barrymore and a young Oliver Hardy

Dear ROBsessors,

As Remember Me premiere approaches more and more people seem to get their hands on the script. It has come to our attention that some of you post spoilers from the movie in the comments section. PLEASE keep the comments spoiler free. If you REALLY have to post and talk to people like you who like being spoiled put a ***SPOILER WARNING*** at the beginning of your comment then leave 10 empty lines and post your spoiler, go nuts if you must :) But make sure you leave those empty lines so that people like ME who are spoilerphobes can go to the movie and be surprised when Tyler decides to become a Ninja...That's what I heard :)

I don't even watch the TV spots or the new clips from the movie. I know there are lots of people like me.

Don't make the monster judge you :)

Thank you in advance. On behalf of all Remember Me Virgins,

Pierce Brosnan Says "Robert Pattinson Is A Great Lad"

Pierce is showing his true Irish colours and I have to totally agree Rob is a great lad indeed!

The rabid fans with their cell phone cams and ear-splitting screams. The frenzy over a rumored run-in with a moving taxi cab. The daily perils and pleasures of working in the Big Apple. As all this by-now-familiar madness surrounded Robert Pattinson on the New York City set of "Remember Me" last year, co-star Pierce Brosnan couldn't help but want to shield his fellow actor.

"I play his dad and there's a part of you, as a dad — you feel protective toward the fellow," Brosnan told MTV News.

Even the man behind four James Bond films had a hard time processing the fan and paparazzi circus that surrounded the production each day. "It was really bizarre," he told MTV News. "We were filming in Central Park South and the caravans are there and mine was very quiet and sedate and I'm reading my book and having a nice cup of coffee. Down the other end was Robert with 6,000 girls. I've never encountered such a thing."

Brosnan would make his way from his trailer to set, waving to fans and reveling in some of the attention that still comes his way after years of portraying the world's most dapper super spy. Then RPattz would arrive.

"By the time I walked up the steps of the plaza, he'd be coming up behind me and there'd be this cacophony, this blistering sound barrier of girls," he laughed. "They just love him to bits and he's a great lad."

The older actor credited the younger one with taking an active role in his career, moving from simply acting to also producing — a move that Brosnan said should lead to a long and successful stay in Hollywood. "He acquits himself really well and he's got his head on his shoulders," Brosnan said. "He's an executive producer on this movie and so, grace under pressure, he'll move right through this period and have a great time. Just enjoy it. Give a little, get a lot."

Christoph Waltz To Play Circus Nazi In "Water For Elephants" With Robert Pattinson

EXCLUSIVE: Hollywood is always looking for great villains. Now I’m told that Christoph Waltz, a frontrunner in the Best Supporting Actor race for his portrayal of the charmingly sadistic Col Hans Landa, will make a deal to star with Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson in Water for Elephants, the Richard LaGravanese-scripted adaptation of the Sara Gruen novel for Fox 2000. Francis Lawrence is directing. The role at first appeared to belong to Sean Penn who's been on a self-imposed big screen sabbatical, but the deal went south. Instead, Waltz will play the heavy in the Depression Era romantic triangle involving a veterinary medicine student (Pattinson) who joins a 2nd-rate travelling circus and falls for the star performer (Witherspoon). Waltz will play her husband, a dangerous paranoid schizophrenic animal trainer who is as mean to his wife as he is to the circus creatures. Gil Netter, Erwin Stoff and Andrew Tennenbaum are producing.

Waltz was a journeyman German TV actor when Quentin Tarantino cast him to play Col. Hans Landa, the charmingly sadistic and manipulative Nazi officer. It got him a Hollywood agent at ICM, and the chance to make Hollywood films. Pending a deal, this would be Waltz’s second studio role. He played the villain opposite Seth Rogen in The Green Hornet for Columbia Pictures.

Kristen Stewart Wants Robert Pattinson's Baby?

From Diario de SĂŁo Paulo Newspaper (Brazil). I wonder how one says WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP in Portuguese.

Crescent Moon

Couple in fiction and in real life, the stars of Twilight, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, have plans have a child soon. The idea was hers, of course. Robert is 23 and Kristen is 19. Let's wait a little more?

Gozde: I especially like the "of course" at the end of "the idea was hers" 'cause you know it just makes sense that way. *eye roll*
