News roundup for the Lost City of Z trailer starring Robert Pattinson

On Sunday we were treated to a sneak peek of Robert Pattinson in the sales trailer for The Lost City of Z.  The link to the trailer has been removed now but not before it caught the eye of the critics.  See some of the reactions below:

Critical reaction

IndieWire
"Set during the 1920s, “The Lost City Of Z” centers on the legendary British explorer Percy Fawcett (Hunnam), who ventured into the Amazon jungle in search of a fabled civilization and never returned. Robert Pattinson co-stars as his fellow explorer Henry Costin, and Sienna Miller plays his his wife Nina Fawcett.
Described as an action-adventure, in Gray’s hand this new sales trailer is somewhat reminiscent of “Apocalypse Now,” and given the filmmaker is an avowed Francis Ford Coppola fan, you’ll probably see more of that influence in the movie itself (as well as that of David Lean, whom Gray said was an major inspiration on the film) via the cinematography of the great Darius Khondji (who shot “The Immigrant”)."
The Film Stage
"The Immigrant director can now rest a bit easier, as the highly anticipated Lost City of Z wrapped last year and is expected to debut on the festival circuit, perhaps at Cannes but more likely in the fall. Starring Charlie Hunnam, Sienna Miller, Robert Pattinson, and Tom Holland, the story follows Percy Fawcett, a conscripted soldier and born explorer who disappeared in the 1920s while searching for a mythical city in the Amazon jungles of Brazil that he believed he discovered on a prior expedition.

For our first glimpse at the film, an epic three-minute sales trailer has arrived, which shows off the story and Darius Khondji‘s ravishing cinematography."
SlashFilm
"From the looks of this trailer, there seems to be an Apocalypse Now influence on the film, and it the visuals are gorgeous, shot by James Gray’s director of photography on The Immigrant, Darius Khondji."
Complex
"The film stars Pattinson as British Army Corporal Henry Costin and Tom Holland as Percy's son Jack Fawcett.

Brad Pitt was originally supposed to star in the film that chronicles the mysterious journey which has left historians and writers dumbfounded as to what ultimately became of Fawcett."
The Wrap
"‘The Lost City of Z’ First Trailer Shows Charlie Hunnam Under Attack in Amazon Jungle"
"The movie also stars a heavily bearded Robert Pattinson, new Spider-Man player Tom Holland, Angus Macfadyen and Edward Ashley.
The Stashed
"James Gray’s (We Own the Night, The Immigrant) adaptation of David Grann’s best-selling biographical novel The Lost City of Z is slated to arrive in theaters this fall and has received its first epic trailer courtesy of Paramount Pictures. Set in the 1920s, it stars Sons of Anarchy lead Charlie Hunnam as Lt. Colonel Percy Fawcett, a British explorer charged with finding the City of Z in South America.

Paramount’s three-minute trailer dives into the rich world of Brazil as Fawcett contends with harsh conditions of the Amazon and cannibal tribes."

When three college besties meet three hot guys in Vegas, anything can—and does—happen. Book Four in the New York Times Wild Seasons series that began with Sweet Filthy Boy (the Romantic Times book of the year that Sylvia Day called “a sexy, sweet treasure of a story”), Dirty Rowdy Thing, and Dark Wild Night.

For two people ambivalent about dating and love, they sure get naked around each other an awful lot . . .

London Hughes is very content to surf daily, tend bar, hang out with her group of friends, and slowly orient herself in the years after college. Everything’s going great and according to the non-plan.

But when a wave knocks her for a loop one morning, then Luke Sutter’s flirtatious smile knocks her for another that evening, she veers slightly off course…and into his path. Sure, he’s a total player, but the Why not—it’s only one night is a persistent voice in her ear.

For his part, Luke’s been on hookup autopilot for so long that he rarely ever pauses to consider what he’s doing. But after an amazing time with London, he realizes that he hasn’t been moving on from a devastating heartbreak so much as he’s been drifting to wherever—and whomever—the current takes him. With London he wants more.

Every relationship involves two people…plus their pasts. And as much as she enjoys her fling with Luke, when London learns about his past—more specifically, who’s in it—everything becomes the brand of complicated she strives to avoid. It’s up to Luke then to change some things in order to try and ensure he’s not something she’ll outright avoid as well.
In case you haven't heard of the other books in the series, here are the synopses of all the books in the giveaway!

SWEET FILTHY BOY synopsis:
 photo 81iPj7qv-L.jpg
One-night stands are supposed to be with someone convenient, or wickedly persuasive, or regrettable. They aren’t supposed to be with someone like him.
But after a crazy Vegas weekend celebrating her college graduation—and terrified of the future path she knows is a cop-out—Mia Holland makes the wildest decision of her life: follow Ansel Guillaume—her sweet, filthy fling—to France for the summer and just…play.
When feelings begin to develop behind the provocative roles they take on, and their temporary masquerade adventures begin to feel real, Mia will have to decide if she belongs in the life she left because it was all wrong, or in the strange new one that seems worlds away.
 photo 81g2wF-U8rL.jpgDIRTY ROWDY THING synopsis:

Despite their rowdy hookups, Harlow and Finn don’t even like each other...which would explain why their marriage lasted only twelve hours. He needs to be in charge and takes whatever he wants.

She lives by the Want-something-done? Do-it-yourself mantra. Maybe she’s too similar to the rugged fisherman—or just what he needs.

We interviewed Christina Lauren about DIRTY WILD THING (my fave of the series so far) when it was released last year...
Q: Fan casting is fun. Who have you fan casted for Harlow and Finn? Or who have you seen others suggest?
photo ScreenShot2014-09-25at112139PM.pngChristina Lauren: Ooh this is a good one but our answer is going to be a cop out—but wait! With good reason! See, it’s really hard to find an actress who fits Harlow. Harlow is half Spanish, half Irish-European mutt, so she has darker hair and skin but light brown eyes. In our mind her face is very Emma-Stone, but she’s more golden, darker-eyed. Finn is similarly tricky for us to cast. But since it’s a Rob site, we can totally confide here that if Rob put on about 30 pounds of muscle, he could rock the role.

DARK WILD NIGHT synopsis:
 photo 81rB7mb1qfL.jpg
Lola and Oliver like to congratulate themselves on having the good sense not to consummate their drunken Las Vegas marriage. If they'd doubled-down on that mistake, their "Just Friends" situation might not be half as great as it is now.
...Or so goes the official line.
In reality, Lola's wanted Oliver since day one - and over time has only fallen harder for his sexy Aussie accent and easygoing ability to take her as she comes. More at home in her studio in her studio than in baring herself to people, Lola's instinctive comfort around Oliver nearly seems too good to be true. So why ruin a good thing?
Even as geek girls fawn over him, Oliver can't get his mind off what he didn't do with Lola when he had the chance. He knows what he wants with her now...and it's far outside the friend zone. When Lola's graphic novel starts getting national acclaim - and is then fast-tracked for a major motion picture - Oliver steps up to be there for her whenever she needs him. After all, she's not the kind of girl who likes all that attention, but maybe she's the kind who'll eventually like him.
Sometimes seeing what's right in front of us takes a great leap of faith. And sometimes a dark wile night in Vegas isn't just the end of the day, but the beginning of a bright new life.

MOVIE NEWS: Patricia Arquette Joins Robert Pattinson in Claire Denis' 'High Life'

MOVIE NEWS: Patricia Arquette Joins Robert Pattinson in Claire Denis' 'High Life'

Screendaily reports that Patricia Arquette has joined Rob in the cast of Claire Denis' High Life.
I would imagine Rob is super excited about this casting seeing as he's a long time fan of hers ;)

Gotta love Patricia's reaction to hearing a young Rob had a crush on her! Can't wait to see her and Rob in this movie together.

From Screendaily:

EXCLUSIVE: Oscar-winner joins sci-fi alongside Robert Pattinson, Mia Goth.

Oscar-winner Patricia Arquette (Boyhood) has joined Robert Pattinson (Twilight) and Mia Goth (The Survivalist) in the cast of Claire Denis’ anticipated untitled sci-fi, written by UK novelist Zadie Smith (White Teeth) and Smith’s writer husband Nick Laird.

Denis’ English-language debut, due to shoot next year, is understood to follow a group of skilled criminals who, in a bid to escape their long sentences or capital punishment, accept a likely-fatal government space mission to find alternative energy sources.

The project, which ScreenDaily first reported in June, marks an intriguing change of direction for the White Material and Beau Travail writer-director.

The story is based on an original idea by Denis and her regular writing partner Jean-Pol Fargeau, and is due to go into production early next year.

INTERVIEW: Die Presse Interview Robert Pattinson

The new interviews just keep coming. Check out this one from Die Presse

photo NEW Fan Pics Robert Pattinson Berlin Life press conference 35.jpg

Translation (Thanks to @Inthejungle83)

DIE PRESSE: "I'm not wearing a mask anymore."

Picture of life: In Anton Corbijn's beautiful drama LIFE, Robert Pattinson plays Dennis Stock, the photographer who shot the iconic picture of James Dean on Times Square.

Boy band, TV star of movie vampire, becoming famous as a teenage sex symbol can be a blessing or a curse for a young artist, but there is almost no other way to gain market values this quickly in show business. On the other hand getting rid of the reputation as a teen heartthrob is something many failed spectacularly. Contract to those who failed, Robert Pattinson seems to have been able to move past his history as a pale Twilight vampire in several ambitious movies he showed true acting talent, like in LIFE the fascinating story about the creation of one of the most famous pictures of the 20th century directed by the Dutch photographer, Anton Corbijn.

Are you a James Dean fan?
I was never really interested in him as a person, but as an actor he was huge. He was fearless in his acting and his movements were like ballet. What fascinated me, especially now where I looked at so many pictures of him, is that there is no bad picture of him. But that is not because he looked great, he played with the camera and he did that in a time where one wasn't photographed everywhere.

What about you? Do you like playing with the camera?
I'm definitely not a natural talent like James Dean (laughs), but I'm getting there. I wasn't able to control it. When the first Twilight movie came out I thought I had some kind of control about the pictures of me that were out there and you could see my panic over loosing that control.

Did you ever have a relationship with a photographer as James Dean had with Dennis Stock?
Not with photographers, but with journalists. When Twilight came out, there were a couple I got along with great. I remember when the first feature about me came out in a big British magazine, it was cool how that came about. The journalist and me went to a bar and got drunk (laughs) I can't do something like that anymore.

Is that something that annoys you? That you can't just simply go to a bar and see what happens?
It's slowly getting possible again. When something is as massively hyped as Twilight people don't care for individual nuances or details anymore. Everything you say creates huge reactions, but it has really calmed down a lot.

Do you wear a disguise when you go out?
No. A few weeks ago I decided I won't need to cover my face with a scarf unless it's cold. So I stopped with that and survived.

Sometimes your life seems like a soap opera. Do you also see it like that yourself?
Yes, of course. I was always adamant that I won't talk about my private life, but that didn't make any difference (laughs). People would always make stuff up. I became a part of a story that was told by someone else and I could do anything about it.

Dennis Stock sacrificed a lot for his career. Do you sacrifice as well?
Not really. I don't believe that Dennis sacrificed anything. He just told himself he did. In the end it's just about him and his fear of failing as an artist and so he looks for people he can blame for his failures. He doesn't think about his little son at all, only when he sees him as a burden. He is only focused on himself and waits for things to change and suddenly make sense, but that doesn't happen. He really is a tragic figure. If you look at recent interviews of him, you can see he didn't learn anything. At 80 he still complains of only being known for the James Dean pictures, but they are the only job he ever made money with.

Sometimes seeing what's right in front of us takes a great leap of faith. And sometimes a dark wile night in Vegas isn't just the end of the day, but the beginning of a bright new life.
In case you don't know about the prior 2 books in the series, here are the summaries to entice you as well as an interview excerpt.

We interviewed Christina Lauren about DIRTY WILD THING (my fave of the two) when it was released last year...

FanFic Friday
I haven't gotten much fic reading done and ended up reading 2 stories from my TBR list that have been on there for ages. I loved them both! Hands down, I recommend In The Debris. This story was beautifully written and you don't just fall for Edward and Bella, you fall for Victoria and James too! That's rare. The POVs are Edward and Victoria and just thinking about them makes me want to reread the fic. I was completely captivated by their voices. The setting is high school but these kids are dealing with heavy but realistic issues. It's an oldie so you might have already checked it out. If not, start it tout de suite! I'll tell you guys about the other fic next week!

ROBsessed Giveaway: We interview Sophie Jackson and give away A Pound of Flesh for Fiction Friday!

ROBsessed Giveaway: We interview Sophie Jackson and give away A Pound of Flesh for Fiction Friday!

This week's giveaway should be a treat for many of you because it's coming from a previous fanfic author with a very well known story.

 photo 651908449.gif

Sophie Jackson wrote the popular fanfiction, A Pound of Flesh, and the story is now being published under the same title! Releasing June 9th, A Pound of Flesh will be the first in a series (details below). We got a chance to interview Sophie about her story, dream casting, Rob (naturally) and more but first let's give you guys a synopsis in case you're a newbie like me:
photo 81rMovsvIfL.jpgHaunted by nightmares of her father’s street murder fifteen years ago, Kat Lane decides to face her fears and uphold his legacy of helping others by teaching inmates at a New York prison.
There she meets arrogant Wesley Carter, who’s as handsome as he is dangerous, as mysterious as he is quick-witted, and with a reputation that ensures people will keep their distance.
As teacher and student, Kat and Carter are forced to leave their animosities at the door and learn that one should never judge a book by its cover. As Carter’s barriers begin to crumble, Kat realizes there’s much more to her angry student than she thought, leaving them to face a new, perilous obstacle: their undeniable attraction to one another.
When Carter is released and Kat continues to tutor him on the outside, the obstacles mount.
Can they fight the odds to make their relationship work? Will Kat’s family and friends ever accept her being with someone of his background? And will Kat’s discovery of Carter’s role on the night her father died force them apart forever...or unite them?
And now our interview with Sophie Jackson!

Congratulations on A Pound of Flesh! I'm a lover of Twilight fanfic but remarkably late to the party for your wildly popular story. You know how you have stories on your TBR list and they just get away from you sometimes? It does however excite me to read the published work without the fanfic bias. I'm starting from scratch so tell me - what inspired you to write a fresh take on the teacher-student trope?

Thanks so much! When I originally got the idea for PoF, I set it in a high school. It was a story about a delinquent, ex-juvvy boy being tutored by an exemplary student girl, but their ages limited where I could go with the story, so I aged them 10 years and placed them in a prison.
As important as it was, the story wasn't ever really about the teacher/student relationship, but rather Kat and Carter having a mysterious history between them, while being in a hopeless situation, in a hopeless setting, which added to the tension between the two of them. I hope it worked.

I'm a big follower of the podcast Serial and by proxy, Adnan Syed's ongoing case. I also listen to a follow up podcast, Undisclosed, that factually tracks the case even more than Serial. I say all that to say I'm increasingly sensitive to the issues surrounding the incarcerated. Tell me about your choice of setting. How did you land in a New York prison to tell your tale?

New York is my favourite place in the world, so it had to be there!
I may have answered this above, but, Carter was always going to be a 'bad boy' while Kat had to be in a position of authority that would, again, increase the tension between them. Setting the story in Arthur Kill allowed the characters to get to know each other in ways they may not in an ordinary every day setting. Prison is not an easy place to be, which fit perfectly, because this relationship is anything but easy! I like to think that the prison also represents Carter's life before he meets Kat. It's only with her help that he manages to free himself of all his restraints, physically and emotionally.

I've spoken to other published fanfic authors who had a desire to publish and were exercising their skills and some who didn't know they had it in them and just had a story they wanted to try out. What came first for you? The desire to be a published novelist or the dive into the world of fanfiction?

Of course, being published is the dream, but I never believed it would happen for me. It was never the end goal.  It was always just about scratching a creative itch by writing characters I'd fallen in love with in a new and different way online. I loved writing Fanfiction; I love the people and the community. I've made some incredible friends. It was a baptism of fire, but invaluable to me as a writer. I learned so much.

Beyond the synopsis, what kind of guy is Wesley Carter? How does he pull your readers in? Do you think we get attached before Kat or follow her road?

Carter is stubborn, caring, mysterious, and passionate. He isn't a 'bad guy', but rather he's made bad decisions that were all based in love and friendship. He's loyal to a fault. He's had a pretty tough upbringing and lashes out as a way of protecting himself. He's pretty endearing from minute one, but I definitely think the reader sees what Kat sees as the story progresses. She is able to peel him apart layer by layer, which is great. The readers fall in love with him right along with her.

Have you dreamcasted your characters? If a studio rang you up today and said give us your ideal actors, who would play Kat Lane and Wesley Carter?

Tom Hardy for Carter seems to be a favourite amongst the fans, while I think Christina Hendricks would be my perfect Kat, curvy, sassy, sexy with all that glorious red hair!

Because we're a Robert Pattinson fan blog and you're no stranger, has he inspired your writing or characters in ways that will make our readers swoon and sigh?

He was and will always be my perfect Edward, but, in my fics, and certainly when I read other fics, I don't tend to cast him in my mind. Certain types of Edwards can conjure up his image, though, like a goofy, geeky, sweet, laughing Edward is just perfect for Rob in my opinion!

What's next for you in the literary world? Where do you go beyond A Pound of Flesh?

PoF is the first of five books in the series. After its release June 9th, it'll be followed by the enovella, Love and Always, which is out in August. This enovella gives us a glimpse of life for Kat and Carter straight after the end of PoF. That'll be followed by An Ounce of Hope, Carter's friend, Max's story, which will be available January 2016. Both are available for pre order now.

FanFic Friday
I haven't read any fanfic lately because I reread the Demonica series in anticipation for Hades, which released May 26th. I did however finally read Rochelle Allison's one-shot from a few months back. If you haven't checked it out already, do yourself a solid and tuck into this gem for a half hour. The (Wet) Dreamgirl is classic Rochelle which means it's perfect.

Tales from the 'Heaven Knows What' after party with Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson attended the premiere of 'Heaven Knows What' at the MoMA in New York yesterday. He also attended the after party and took some fan pics we posted earlier.

Well the fan in the photo, Joey Boots is a regular caller on the Howard Stern show (a New York chat show on sirius satellite) and shared a story about meeting Rob at the after party. See the Utube clip below.

Probably not the fan photos Rob's used to!  Can you wash iPhones at all? That iPhone 4 will be getting an upgrade sooner rather than later!

ROBsessed Giveaway: September Rains and Between Octobers during a Marvelous May for Fiction Friday!

ROBsessed Giveaway: September Rains and Between Octobers during a Marvelous May for Fiction Friday!

We have plenty of goodies today! Book sets, sequels and gift cards, oh my!

The book set is coming from an author and Rob fan who we've featured before with her novel, Between Octobers. You guys might recognize A. R. Rivera from the comments and she's our featured author for this Fiction Friday!

Last year, A.R. released Between Octobers and also let us know that Rob inspired one of the characters! From A. R.:
Rhys Matthews, also known as Evan, is a fictional character from my book, Between Octobers. He is Graces’ love interest–handsome, funny, charming, and an all-around nice guy. His career–the mania that surrounds him–is inspired by that of Robert Pattinson. He also happens to be British, with great hair and a few dark secrets. He is poised to steal Graces’ heart.

 photo sexy smile 2.gif

We certainly love when that happens. Her second book in the Savor The Days series, September Rain, is released today, May 15th and we have 2 copies to giveaway including 2 copies of Between Octobers. So our winners will be able to read the latest novel and catch up on the first if you haven't done so already. September Rain isn't a sequel to Between Octobers by plot but have connected characters - and the Rob-inspired character. ;)

Reviews aren't out yet for September Rain but an excerpt from this reviewer is just the perfect description for Between Octobers and what to expect from A. R.:
"I went into this book thinking it was going to be a run-of-the-mill thriller. I was pleasantly surprised when the book began seamlessly alternating between suspense and love story. I honestly don't know that I've ever read another book like it."
Between Octobers synopsis:
photo IMG_20140802_234151.jpgHappy endings have always eluded Grace Zuniga.
Now, she is in real trouble, hoping and praying that will change. When she wakes up in a dark, confined space with no memory of how she got there, the fear is nearly crippling.
There are only two thoughts keeping her from losing her head.
First, her children need her to survive. Though Grace is not sure she can, she's determined to try.
Second, figuring out who took her and how she ended up, pregnant, alone, and at the mercy of a person who will do anything to keep her from escaping.
Stumbling through her bleak circumstances, Graces mind wanders over the last life-changing year, from one October to the next, and relives the most precious moments and circumstances that led to her kidnapping.
The previous October, as Grace stepped inside an elevator and into the life of enigmatic Rhys Matthews, it all began. But Grace must ask herself, "where will it end?"
September Rain synopsis:
photo septemberrain.jpegClinging to your past will smother your right now . . . which is exactly what Angel Patel is hoping for, since nothing in her present life is quite what it seems.
The past is where she left her heart, beating inside the chest of the boy she loved. What does she have in the here and now that’s so special? Nothing and no one.
Angel’s been in prison for the past six years. She's got about sixty square feet of concrete flooring enclosed by concrete walls and one metal door. One twin-sized bunk. No windows—which means no view. No birds, no trees. No family to visit. No friends.
Avery Campbell doesn’t count. She was never Angels’ friend, though if you asked Avery, she’d say different. She’d sell her story to anyone; try to make them believe that it was okay for her to betray her life-long friend—the only real friend she ever had. Avery’s convinced that lies are acceptable if they protect someone. But that isn't always true.
It all goes back to when Angel and Avery met the hazel-eyed boy who would become the love of Angels’ life. Jake Haddon. He was a surprise. Such talent; a gorgeous, undiscovered, musical genius at the age of eighteen. He was also the lead singer of Angels’ favorite indie rock band on the cusp of stardom.
When the state prison Angel resides in is marked for closure, Angel and her lawyer go before a two-person panel to plead her request to be moved to a moderate security facility, better suited for someone like Angel. Ever anxious to draw out the memories of her life with Jake, Angel recalls how Jake was the only good part of her terrible life as a disposable kid, raised in foster care. With him, she was happy for the first time in seventeen years. Because she didn’t know what Avery was doing.
During the case review, as Angel recounts the lies and mistakes that snowballed into the sentence she’s currently serving, she’s simultaneously formulating a plan to escape. She aims to find her long-lost love, Jake, and spend the rest of eternity trying to make up for her part in the crimes that landed her in jail.
But before she can do that, she needs to get through the case review. She has to make sure that the interviewing panel understands that it was not her—that is was her best-friend turned sworn-enemy, Avery—who plotted and carried out the crimes. That it was Avery who killed Angels’ boyfriend, Jake Haddon.

This next giveaway has already started HERE but we wanted to post the info again as a reminder.

Beck Anderson is another Rob fan, supporter of the blog and novelist. We've featured her books before and now she has a brand new sequel. Beck wanted to give our readers a treat in honor of Rob's 29th birthday, which is the post where the giveaway debuted. You have a chance to win the eBook, Trouble Me, sequel to Fix You, as well as a $25 gift card for Amazon. Here's the synopsis:
photo 25346379.jpgIn Fix You, movie star Andrew Pettigrew (Andy to his fans, Andrew to his friends) somehow found the level-headed love he was looking for in young widow and “regular girl” Kelly Reynolds. Now, as they work to mesh their growing relationship with his gold-statue ambitions, things go a bit sideways, in true Hollywood fashion.

Though they’re still wonderfully in love, it’s challenge enough for Andrew and Kelly to decipher what it means to be a family—and a growing family at that—between takes on set. But Andrew also brings history with a temperamental co-star, assorted paparazzi, and someone out there who has serious, perhaps obsessive, issues with him into the mix. Suddenly the Reynolds-Pettigrew clan must fight not just to stay together, but to stay safe.
In Trouble Me, the sequel to Fix You and third novel from Rita finalist Beck Anderson, Kelly and Andrew struggle to stay sane within their whirlwind life. It’s a life that’s equal parts amazing and amusing, less glamorous than you might expect, and spiked with very real fears no amount of stardom can overcome.

Will Andrew and Kelly be torn apart, or will they help each other stay strong at their broken places?

ROBsessed Giveaway: Travel down DARNAY ROAD and FINDING MY THUNDER for Fiction Friday!

ROBsessed Giveaway: Travel down DARNAY ROAD and FINDING MY THUNDER for Fiction Friday!

We're big fans of Diane Munier's work and have a double hitter for you this Fiction Friday!

 photo sillyface.gif

As you may know, we did a giveaway for Diane's first novel HERE and we even go to chat with her about her stories and moving her counselor fan fiction work into the published realm. Click HERE if you missed our interview!

Since that giveaway, two other stories have been launched and I loved them both when I first read them. We're doing a 2 week giveaway for a package of both books for 2 winners. Deuces all around! Both stories also take place in the sixties and if you know anything about Diane, you know she can write amazing period pieces. The woman transports you. I feel like I step into a time machine when the story takes place in another era.

Here are they synopses for Darnay Road and Finding My Thunder but I'll say a little bit extra right after:
photo 91syb-4-eDL._SL1500_.jpgDarnay RoadIt starts out in 1963, spanning ten years in the life of Georgia Christine. At ten years old, she and her best friend Abigail May are mystery solvers. They get to the bottom of things like–what is inside the altar at their Catholic church? Rumor says the bones of the saints. Climbing that holy gate and entering the forbidden area so they can take a look means the threat of eternal flames is not greater than their curiosity. It’s not different when they meet Easy and Cap, the brothers from the other side of the tracks. Those two may live on Scutter, the most down-and-out street in town, but they are always in the road riding their beat-up bicycles. And when someone dies on the tracks behind Abigail’s house, the mystery surrounding them deepens. But so do their friendships. When Abigail moves away and Cap is no longer around, it’s as natural as breathing for Georgia and Easy to step in the gap toward one another. But Easy is in trouble and even a dedicated-mystery-solver-turned-teenage-problem-solver is limited in what she can do. When Easy has to leave will their friendship just be a sweet memory or can Darnay Road stretch long enough to keep them connected even if that gap becomes an ocean?
photo finding-my-thunder-cover.jpgFinding My ThunderThe story takes place in the late sixties. Hilly Grunier has been in love with Danny Boyd since she was a kid telling scary stories on summer nights at the fire hydrant while Danny pulled close on his bike. But when Danny is thirteen, their friendship ends when he and his brother Sukey have a vicious fight over Hilly. Years pass, and Hilly carries a secret and growing love as she watches Danny rise athletically to the top of their school’s food chain. He even dates the prom queen and rumor says they are engaged. Now Danny has graduated and shows up in her dad’s shop looking for some temporary employment until the army picks him off for Vietnam. He’s thrown aside his college scholarship and the golden girl. He seems to be searching for something new before he leaves town. He seems to be searching for her. Hilly can’t let him go overseas without showing him how she feels. But once he’s gone, her own battle intensifies. It’s a long road to finding her thunder.
I didn't know how I was going to feel about reading a story with kids as my guide when I first read Darnay Road. This was pre-Tonio mind you. But I read anything Diane does. Of course I didn't regret it. The story is vivid and intense. I was always trying to figure out what was up with Easy just like Georgia. I fell for their coming-of-age story and the road they took to get there. I'm also pleased that the published work included an epilogue! I never want to leave Diane's character so any extra will always make me jump for joy.

Finding My Thunder was one of the first stories from Diane that took my by surprise. It was the last I read when I first discovered her and went on a binge of whatever was complete at the time. I didn't think I wanted to go to the 60s when I was so thoroughly in love with her post-Civil War work (My Wounded Soldier! Bringing Bella Home!). I ended up loving this story so much. It's darker in ways then her other work. There's pain that unfolds and your heart cries out for these characters. But you get the title right? You have to go through what Hilly goes through and it's worth it. She's worth it. It's a powerful love story in more ways than you can guess.

There are other exciting developments for Diane: By now you probably know that Deep In The Heart Of Me completed and is being readied for publishing. We also know we'll be getting a sequel of that story! My Wounded Soldier will also be two books. Two wonderful books that I can't wait for. You can keep up with the latest from Diane (who is also writing mysterious and intriguing dribbles titled Sam) on her blog HERE!

Now let's ready to go back into time! Start in the early sixties with the kids on Darnay Rd then close out the decade with Hilly and Danny while she finds her thunder.

ROBsessed Giveaway: MANWHORE is our "sizzling, decadent, love story" for Fiction Friday!

I love a title that's pretty in your face. MANWHORE.

 photo whaaat.gif

Yup. And I loved this story. It reminded me of some classic Ficwards I've read before and I had no problem fan casting Malcom Saint ifyouknowwhatImsayin. New York Times bestselling author, Katy Evans, has written what Sylvia Day (the Crossfire series) calls, "a sizzling, decadent, tender love story", and tried to put dibs on Saint. Didn't she know I have dibs already? The story came out just a few weeks ago and here's the synopsis if you haven't been properly introduced to MANWHORE:
 photo 51Aapp456aL.jpg
MANWHORE follows Rachel Livingston, a young and hardworking reporter trying to save her magazine and given an assignment of a lifetime: write an expose on Malcom Saint and reveal his juiciest secrets. Saint, Chicago's most wanted bachelor, is a young billionaire with a bevy of beautiful women at his feet who has never revealed the scintillating details of his personal life. When Rachel poses undercover to better understand the mysterious Malcom, she finds both her body and her heart in danger of succumbing to the city's most notorious womanizer:
Is it possible to expose Chicago's hottest player--without getting played?

This is the story I've been waiting for all my life, and its name is Malcolm Kyle Preston Logan Saint. Don't be fooled by that last name though. There's nothing holy about the man except the hell his parties raise. The hottest entrepreneur Chicago has ever known, he's a man's man with too much money to spend and too many women vying for his attention.

Mysterious. Privileged. Legendary. His entire life he's been surrounded by the press as they dig for tidbits to see if his fairytale life is for real or all mirrors and social media lies. Since he hit the scene, his secrets have been his and his alone to keep. And that's where I come in.

Assigned to investigate Saint and reveal his elusive personality, I'm determined to make him the story that will change my career.

But I never imagined he would change my life. Bit by bit, I start to wonder if I'm the one discovering him...or if he's uncovering me.

What happens when the man they call Saint, makes you want to sin?
This story was delicious. A fun and sexy read you won't want to end and guess what? It won't! This is the first in The MANWHORE Series. So buckle up and take this saucy story for a ride.
