School HAS started back up again. I love going back to ROBsession 101! Class is now in session and this lesson is brought to you by one of our readers.

Under the post about Rob playing music with Dermot Mulroney, our reader, TeamEdward_Bella4ever, wondered about an old interview of Rob's where he mentioned playing a trumpet. (With our old URL returning, you won't see her comment now, unless you look on disqus, because it was made under our temp web address that's now gone.)

I thought she was talking about this classic interview with his funny trumpet line:


TEB4ever told me nope. There was another interview where he said he played the trumpet and was serious. She gave me enough clues to go on a hunt and if you ever want to excite me (or drive me crazy), give me a Rob challenge. Send me on a Rob scavenger hunt.

Here were her clues:

I wasn't talking about that interview, he was being funny in that one, this was another interview, during filming of the prom scene and they were asking him about his music and he talked about playing the piano,guitar and some trumpet. He also talked about he was suppose to be recording a record with one of his friends.He was actually being serious in this interview.

So I made my checklist:

• Prom scene interview = 2008
• Asked about music
• Piano, guitar and some trumpet are mentioned
• Recording music with a friend
• Serious

VOILA! Just after 4:00, Rob mentions possibly doing an album with a friend (which we know didn't happen, at least for public consumption), an album he can't explain at all but it's quite good and he likes it and playing the guitar, piano, singing, trumpet, and SAXOPHONE. LAWD.



Info from 2008 interviews STILL creep up on me and surprise me since I was "born" in 2009. Why didn't we have more talk about Rob playing the sax? Can we get a follow up question on this 4 years later? Think he remembers? LOL

Translation...:

The interview was done during Cannes. The interviewer precises that Rob was eating a lollipop.

In the movie, you get your prostate checked? Is yours asymmetrical too?
Rob: *laughs* I haven't checked that yet! Everybody talks about it, it's crazy how that line marked people.

Did you feel up to the task to take on this role?
Rob: When David Cronenberg called me I was in the middle of shooting Breaking Dawn. There were only three weeks left. As soon as I got home, I pounced on the script and read it in one sitting, in one night. It was really strong, complex and freaky but so funny!

Your character speaks all the time, weren't you scared?
Rob: The risk of failure was huge. At first, I told David I didn't feel ready for the challenge. There was too much pressure, but he convinced me. Even though he knew I didn't understand anything from the script. *laughs*

What didn't you get?
Rob: For Cronenberg, everything made sense. The fact that I didn't understand didn't bother him. He was more concerned about my performance. The world of finance means nothing to me. It conceals an absurd distortion of power struggles. But it's not the end of the world, it's a rebirth because this world needs sometimes to be cleansed and purified.

Your character tries to escape from himself. Since you became famous - and with all these paparazzi hanging on to your coat-tails - are you experiencing the same thing?
Rob: I try not to think about it, I only do my job. I stay cautious about all of this but it's still weird. It's like speaking in your sleep. Cosmopolis is a challenging movie that will open doors for me to new projects. I am very pleased. Saying that though, I can't compare this with my private life even if I feel completely claustrophobic.

Are you relieved that Twilight is over now and that you can now move on to something else?
Rob: I will never disown Twilight. It was my job security. I'll never try to find excuses. The advantage now is that directors think differently. As an actor, it's something you've always dreamed about.


Lots of people think it's because of Twilight that you're pushed to do more diarist and intellectual movies ...
Rob: I did little movies before Twilight. People only notice you when they feel like it. It depends from one type of audience from another. I 'acted' too in Twilight. It was a beautiful period in my life but now it's time to turn the page.

Are you still offered heartthrob's roles?
Rob: It's not always easy to play heartthrob. You need to be extremely confident or be completely oblivious to what people think of you. I like to keep my integrity as an actor.

Did you see 'On the Road' in which your girlfriend, Kristen Stewart, has a role?
Rob: Yes and it's sort of weird to see her like this. To have people clapping for you at Cannes, a Festival that's a little crazy and with so many people, is funny. We might expect those kind of reactions but always end up being surprised.

Did you become up professional opponents?
Rob: No, never. For a year now we both had the chance to evolve in the job we love, especially in those amazing movie projects. Kristen is really ambitious. She knows how to find good scripts, she has the nose for that. I admire her.
We wanted people to respect and understand our choices. During the Cosmopolis screening at Cannes, I was a nervous wreck. I was looking in front of me, behind me, trying to guess people's reactions. I was trying to listen for whispers. And in the end, I missed half the movie. *laughs* At the after party that followed, I was even more terrified at the prospect of having to face people's comments.

Will you be in a movie together after Twilight?
Rob: Yes, absolutely. We're trying to write a script together. It won't be for now but we've thought about it for a long time. The filming of the last two movies was long and difficult.My character doesn't change, he can't die. We finish on a high note.

Since Dose editor, Jen McDonnell, tweeted about seeing Rob and Kristen at Coachella, I've been thinking about her interview with Rob back in 2008. She even mentioned it herself. It was a great one and I wanted to make sure you guys checked it out. Most of you should know it already but it's a lovely walk down Rob memory lane. "Nice guys come last."

It's over 8 minutes and the camera never leaves him. He's sweet, he's candid, he's classic....he's Rob.

My friend was going to take their photo, but I dissuaded her. It’s weird, but I feel oddly protective of Robert Pattinson. I’ve met him and think he’s a genuinely nice guy; the last thing I wanted to do was make him feel uncomfortable or draw attention to them. These kids seem like a normal young couple who rarely get to do normal things, and I didn’t want to ruin their moment. They were wandering around the general population unnoticed, and I was reluctant to invade their privacy (more so than I already have).  

Genuinely nice guy. :)) Jen's funny in her account and you gotta shake your head at our crazy fandom. :)

This is a mish-mash of some new/old goodies. We've got Rob being the gracious man he always is with his fans during the Brussels Breaking Dawn promotional event. They're from October so we likely posted them but he's a delight to watch. :)



It took that guy too long to take the gift from Rob that a fan gave him. That seems to me like they need someone for that job. I should apply. ;)

Here's the continuation from the video above of Rob being lovely. I was mesmerized by his sweetness and laugh. There's this one part, after he gives a book to Nick, and he's really close to the camera....you hear a girl kinda wiggin' out. Look at his little smile. It's this blend of "you girls are so crazy but I know how to work this line and make you love me more".

Former MTV reporter, Larry Carroll, was busy on twitter a couple of days ago and answered some fan questions about his infamous interviews with Rob and Kristen in 2008 during the filming of Twilight. His replies are italicized:

• @_oneheartbeat Did you notice a spark of something between Rob & Kristen when you first interviewed them on the twilight set back in '08? :): Yeah, the chemistry was undeniable. I remember each had a book on their chairs, next to each other. RPattz read Vonnegut. I was on set for 2 full days, and the only time they weren't together was when I did my 1-on-1 with Rob. They were VERY into building chemistry, barely knew each other then. To play such intimate characters for several movies they knew they had a lot of work to do. Both of them take acting very seriously, even then when relatively young. They'd share books, watch movies together, hit local clubs with other actors, etc. As soon as Catherine called "Cut!" they'd almost always head off together. I've interviewed each dozens of times, most recently for XBox at the BD1 premiere*. So glad they've come so far.
• @_oneheartbeat  If there is ever a remake of Last Tango In Paris, what would you think of Rob & Kristen playing the characters? lol: Would be very cool, since I unearthed that tidbit. But I know a lot of people whose heads would explode from the sexiness!
• @_oneheartbeat Hahaha, you gave us the BEST interview of Rob & Kristen ever! Sad there hasnt been many since! Can you see if you could possibly try & get a joint interview of those two for the final movie promo?: Was a lot easier in those day. I was the only one who cared. I remember explaining to other reporters what "Twilight" was. EW spelled Stephenie's name wrong, on set a lot of people thought the film would go straight-to-video. When I asked to visit the set they were kinda shocked. Said "how many days do you want to come up for?" Gave me full access, no embargo. That's extremely rare.
• @RobstenNinjas is their chemistry still the same now as it was in the beginning of Twilight? :): Better, I'd say. It's like real life, right? The more you know someone the easier it is to care about them - & portray that.
• @cocoapup Did R or K seem equally enamored w/ ea other back then, or 1 more than the other? Or just getting to know ea other? Thx: I'd say they were equal. Although KStew definitely seemed to take the lead most of the time. She was the more experienced actor.

*Xbox interview was noted as being only with Kristen.

The 2008 Twilight interviews by MTV were pretty classic so let's take a trip down memory lane! Rob and Kristen before the mayhem. Also, it'll make you go "awwww" when you listen to Rob talk about his musical plans after Twilight. Amazing how much everything changed. 



Larry's tweets didn't mention his solo Rob interviews but those produced Spunk Ransom. How can we not revisit 2008Rob?







Great memories. I can't wait to see what kind of interviews, photoshoots, mag covers and other surprises are planned for the end of an era.

You know who we had a blast talking to on the People’s Choice Awards red carpet? Tia (on the right) and Tamera Mowrey, stars of your favorite childhood show Sister, Sister, that’s who. They were fun and adorable and finished each other’s sentences like proper twins. And they have their own reality show on the Style Network, called Tia &Tamera, of course, so you too can OD on their cuteness. Tamera confessed she was excited to see Robert Pattinson because she’s a huge Twilight nerd (welcome to the club, girl), and that led us down the road of gushing over Rob and Kristen Stewart‘s cute couple steeze. And gush we did! “They’re both really edgy and romantic at the same time,” Tia explained of Robsten’s appeal. “They’re romantic, but it’s not that corny, whimsical kind of romance.”

An excerpt from Pattinson Post's interview with Twilight's Cora, played by Ayanna Berkshire:

PP: Your scene in the movie did not involve Robert Pattinson, but did you see him on set at all during the filming of the movie?  Were you familiar with him before this movie?  
AB: I was aware of Robert from Harry Potter: Goblet of Fire and from a small role in Vanity Fair.  I met him on set at lunch one day, because he was shooting another scene right after us and we all ended up having lunch together. He was funny, charming and incredibly friendly, really very normal, which comes as no surprise.

Inside story: Two days after that lunch I was back to work at my part time job, I worked in an eyeglass shop in Portland named Visage Eyewear. While I was there, an absolutely adorable British couple came in. We INSTANTLY bonded and I ended up talking with them for close to two hours. About an hour in, I finally asked what brought them to Portland and they told me that they were visiting their son, who was working in town. I asked them what he did for work and they told me he was an actor! “REALLY”, I said. (I get really excited for fellow actors, especially since I know every last one in town), “I’m an actor too!! What’s his name? Is he working on anything at the moment?” That’s when they both got a little quiet, “Oh, he’s working on a movie here…” I took a look at both of them again, took in their accents and it suddenly dawned on me. “Is your son Rob?” I asked. They both got this wide-eyed look on their face like they weren’t sure if they should say yes or no. “I JUST worked with him two days ago!” I said, “I loved him, what a great guy!” They both seemed completely relieved that they could tell their secret without having to say anything. After that, we had an even better time and if I remember correctly, they even brought me ice cream from the ice cream shop across the street.  For the record, Robert Pattinson has awesome parents!

During the Wrap party for Twilight, a friend of mine (he played one of the frat boys), Rob and I were all standing around talking. I wanted to do an impromptu photo shoot, where either I was about to bite Rob, or vice versa… it ended in a total fail as neither one of us knew who was supposed to bite who. I hope I’ll be forgiven for sharing this less than flattering pic.*

PP: Did you have any idea, being in the first of a five movie series, that Twilight would become so big and that Robert Pattinson would go on to become as famous as he did?

AB: I think that the success of the movies came as a surprise to everyone. I’d had an idea that they were going to be huge just because EVERYONE seemed to be reading the books!

I think that anyone who played the role of Edward was going to experience mega fandom. Edward, of all the characters was the most untouchable, the most mysterious and the sexiest. To watch that type of character brought to real life by an actor (especially an actor like Robert who is fun, approachable and handsome, but who was still sort of a mystery himself), it becomes this instant gratification. The character was written with such passion that as a reader, you want that passion for yourself.  It also didn’t hurt that Robert was coming from Harry Potter and had a built in audience who were already excited to see him in something new.

Robert Pattinson & "Twilight" Mentioned On Coronation Street

So while watching "Coronation Street" the other night I heard the name the makes my head turn everytime. Yes Robert Pattinson.
For those of you that don't have a clue what "Coronation Street" is(or "Corrie" as it's better known over here) it is a VERY popular British soap opera. You know you've made it when you get a mention in "Corrie" {giggle}

The family shown in the clip are called the Windasses (I know great name huh?). Anyway Anna & Eddie Windass are thinking of adopting the little girl in the clip (Faye). She comes to stay with them for the weekend and is finding it hard to settle in and find things in common with the family until their son Gary and herself find they have a certain book in common.
