New Empire Interview

YOUTUBE

Partial transcription for my lovelies at work:

Favourite movie vampire?

Himm, probably Luke Perry in Buffy.Haha. Which I based a lot of my performance on. I've built my career on him. On that performace. (Gozde:giggling all through since that movie and Luke SUCKED!).And then he says "actually I did kinda similar performances".

Favourite Cereal?

Here Start(?), I don't know if they even have them anymore :-)

In America there is this thing called "cinnamon toast crunch" which is I guess like golden grahams here.

Book you'd take to a desert island?

Himmm.... Probably Ulysses since that's the only time I'd probably read it. (laughs)

If you could play any part in a movie?

Job in bible.

Greatest tv show ever made?

Probably to be honest "the office". Not the greatest but in the last years.

The US version or the UK version?

Pfft, obviously the UK version...Duh!...
http://www.last.fm/music/Van+Morrison/_/Beside+You

(Laughs)...None... I don't know...Probably history? I don't know, I just wasn't good at anything...(laughs...)

Favourite Band?

Probably Van Morrison. But he isn't really a band...When he had a band... (laughs)

Favourite song?

There is a song called "beside you". That's probably my favorite song. (Thanks to WildCat we know it's a Van Morrison song. I couldn't locate a youtube video but HERE is a short snippet)

Favourite Toy growing up?

Umm, I didn't have very many toys. I dunno (laughs) I just had a pack of cards, I used to play with cards all the time.I didn't know how to do any any games, I would just pretend the cards were other things.I liked any toy which which didn't involve having to play with other children. (laughs) (Gozde: $100 says he is making this up :))

Dammit! Cannot see the vids at work...someone recap for me when you can.

Trixie said...

Dani - This is a good one. Asking him questions like "What was your favorite toy", "what was your best subject in school", favorite song, etc.

Just love listening to him "hmmmm" while he thinks.

Funniest answer (for me) was to the toy question. He said he really didn't have that many toys and played with a deck of cards. "any toy that didn't involve me having to play with other kids..."

Kim said...

He is beyond adorable and sweeet.
He just keeps getting better and better.

Trixie, I left to e-mail you.

Also, is the "Beside You" song by Iggy Pop?

Love this vid.

Sabrizzle said...

He is way too cute for his own good (or my health for that matter).

Trixie said...

Jov - Yes got it - just wrote you back :)

I was wondering the same thing about who sings Beside You (of course). Was hoping he would clarify!

I don't know why but this is one of my fav interviews now. He seems pretty relaxed in it and it isn't about twilight at all...

Trixie said...

Sabrina - LOL! Yes, he is WAY too cute for my health - for sure.

Kim said...

I agree Trixie.
A very good vid.
He seems very much himself in this.
I'll go read your e-mail.
Good morning, Sabrina!

Adorable!

Did he say he liked "The Office"? Shows his sense of humor but with much intelligence.

His choices do reflect his personality.

Sabrizzle said...

His comment about not wanting to play with other children was cute. I was like that when I was little, I just wanted to be left alone most of the time. Other kids were annoying.

Sabrizzle said...

Good morning Jov!

keely said...

When he says: "...the UK one, oviously." I love it, when he does this face! That was priceless!
Just saw a kind of Twilight-parody on you tube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUba0WtH-SY&feature=dir

Seems like you can sell everything with a little bit of twilight in it ;-)

Good morning Sabrina, also!

Now if that isn't love from Goz, I don't know what is.(By transcribing the vid interview)

Okay, beautiful ladies, I'm off to get so much Christmas stuff and errands done. I have to have all this done by Sunday.
Love to all.

Trixie said...

Jov - just sent you a response...

keely - LOL - yes, just put a twilight reference into something and people will pay attention. I know it works for me...

I just love how he really seems to put thought behind each answer...

Gozde said...

Have fun Jov :) I finished all my christmas shopping in US! I am going to miss the deals so much! I believe I have helped US economy shape up with all the shopping I did last month :PP

Sabrizzle said...

Talk to you later, Jov. I need to sign off too. My friend is picking me up in a little bit and we are going to go visit some of our teachers from high school.

keely said...

LOL, same here, Trixie!

Trixie said...

Goz - this interview is a GREAT find! Thanks!

Bye Jov! Happy shopping!

keely - what don't I love about him? LOL.

WildCat said...

Hi there...first time posting.

I am assuming that since Van is his favorite 'band', that it is Van's song "Beside You" that he means. But that might just be me.

Gozde said...

Hi Wildcat! Thanks, I'm running to youtube to find the song :)

Trixie said...

Welcome Wildcat!

I was thinking the same thing about Van Morrison - not sure if he has a song called Beside You. Might have to do a little research.

WildCat said...

He does, its the 2nd track on the Astral Weeks album. I happen to be a Van fan myself, hence why my brain went there first.

Thanks for the welcomes! =)

La Stella said...

This is the second time I've seen him mentioning putting a lot of Luke Perry on his performance. I remeber him saying that it was specially on his hair, lol :)

MiCh said...

Oh Goz, tnxs for transcribing the interview.. I must confess I didn't understand the name of the book *hangs head in shame*

And I assume his fave song is Beside You by Van Morrison. The guitar at the beginning of the song kills me every time :P

Trixie said...

Goz - you are Fabulous - thanks for the link to the song! It's beautiful.

Hey Mich and Stella!

La Stella said...

Hi Trixie :)

MiCh said...

La Stella said...

Trixie said...

Mich/Stella - Yo entiendo (un poquito) LOL!

keely said...

Thanks for the link to the song, Goz! You are gorgeous :-)
I meant the twilight reference and how it works on us,Trixie ;-)
Welcome Wildcat!
I´m off now, have to learn for some exam on friday :-(
Have a lot of fun, everybod!
:-*

This interview is adorable! You know it's going to be a good interview when the very first clip is showing Rob laughing :) I freaking love his facial expressions and the uhhhhhs and ummmms after each question... you can tell he is trying so hard to think of something clever or interesting... which, of course, he does every single time!

keely said...

P.S.: I have to confess to you, I had a crush on Luke, when I was 13 ;-)

MiCh said...

Ellie said...

Okay, Stella and Mich, I'm going to use sign language, now... LOL

Gozde said...

I agree with Ellie. Yani aslinda biraz anliyorum yazdiklariniz. Saka bunlar. Kocaman optum :))

La Stella said...

Malditas comas. ¬¬

Guys, sorry.. we are not talking about anything major, just books, lol.

keely said...

That´s so funny!Goz, remember me, I understand tht ;-) Good night everybody!!!!

Ellie said...

Just kidding, my sweets! :)

Gozde said...

Teeheee, I know you understand it Keely :)) Just kidding Stella, I can understand what you are talking about, mostly. I was just messing with ya!

Hugs,
Gozde

keely said...

Goz, I´m sorry, didn´t meant to cause some misunderstanding. With funny I ment that it´s still so unbelievable for me that you´re from Istanbul! Have to be over it soon ;-)
Girls, I wish you a lot of fun on what language you ever would like to speak this evening :-)

Oh my goodness, I love Rob's wolverine hair in that interview...just plain adorable!

I love the toy question...more and more you cannot help to appreciate how Richard and Clare raised Rob...humble and not too spoiled. And, he definitely strikes as a child that played well by himself.

Sparkle said...

He could not be any more adorkable if he tried! Trixie I totally agree I'd watch just to listen to him say hmmmmm over and over.

Tess said...

Oh my goodness. what a hysterical interview..

and so I fell even deeper into my little insane world of Rob infatuation.
