Just being considered is a step in the right direction. If nothing else, perhaps the soundtrack will get some notice.

I mean for Little Ashes.

I dont think anything will come out of it for NM except maybe a nomination for the soundtrack. Being accepted itself is a big thing. :)

Big squee for Adventureland :D

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but many films are accepted as Oscars' entries every year...don't mean much really...I know NM is really not Oscar material, and never seen LA! But Rob's only got a few films under his belt, there's always the future and better roles to come :)

NO rain DeeDee, that's what we said :) They are just eligible and there are tons of movies that are eligible :)

I in no way shape or form think New Moon should be up for anything other than maybe soundtrack or best score....

However; I think Little Ashes derserves a lot of nominations, including both Rob & Javier, and Marina Gatell....not to mention the glorius soundtrack & cinematography....all stunning...

But how exciting just to be considered!!

Hey Gdz hope your interview went well :)

Little Ashes should be nominated. and the sexuality situation, they are not afraid of considering "Milk" and "Brokeback Mountain" did very well. Go Rob! He might be in TOTAL SHOCK though if it makes it.

The interview is tomorrow :)) Yikes! So nervous!

Ok NOW my pute works! Little ashes should be in fo sho-I cant see New MOon. ITs too trendy. The oscars like controversial and artsy stuff. Indie flicks. Yeah thanks for the update, gonna spread the word!

Gozde,
You'll do awesome!! Take your sarcasm sign just in case!!

I think that NM should be nominated for cinematography, the more often I see it, 7 times and counting, I think that it is just glorious, it would also be one in the eye for the critics, remember The Golden Compass was panned by the critics and tanked at the box office but still won an Oscar for visual effects, CW directed both of them. Haven't seen LA and not going to, his museum was enough for me, but I wish Rob et al all the best

Little Ashes could go for it. However I don't see New Moon in such an event... The soundtrack maybe...

AWESOME!!!

I am sorry but little ashes was just a bad movie. I love rob but the movie was just bad. And all the review for the movie was just bad. I don't see the industry contradicted themselves.I mean the movie is listed nowhere in the top hollywood best movie of the year.

I'm not even going to start with the crap new moon is. Though, the soundtrack have a chance.

I don't want people to have more reason to taed on rob, no thanks. He already have a lot of critics who think he is a joke; He doesn't need one more reason to be hated.

If you think that NM should be nominated for the cinematography, you must see LA, then you see the difference beetwen arty movie and just the movie (no offence). LA is much more emotional, colorfull and touching, and music is great. You just can feel and see the beauty and mood of Spain, know some history of this country, and see some good, really emotional acting. It reminds me another great movie about the painter, calls Frida (Frida Khalo). And i also watched almost every movie about famous and, not so famous artists, so i couldn't skip this one. And Rob as Salvadore... sweet, love : the mustache, riding bike, swimming under a full moon, and the kissing scene.

Little Ashes looks great...i really liked it. And i think Rob played the part perfectly and btw it's Oscars type of movie....go Rob!

Jeez Damourkrist, no one is hoping for a fucking oscar but since when is being on the list for consideration a reason to hate someone? Christ-on-a-bike

As for New Moon, never in a million years! lol !

very exciting that some of his work is being considered-and it's only the beginning! I can see a lot of this in his future.

Good luck on the interview, Gozde! :)

There are people who think George Clooney is a joke! All the critics did not hate " Little Ashes"! I thought it was worthy of some recognition and who cares what those critics think that hate on Rob. they have their own agenda which is not about movies!

Birgit said...

Not gonna happen. :)

Rebecca Kiger said...

I don't think either are Oscar worthy, except in the fans hearts. Soundtrack is another story.

i've always said i love Little Ashes (and not just because i'm from spain). Rob and Javier did a really good job and the film is so intense.

New Moon...well...i don't think it's a good movie, honestly.

Do not get mad but Adventureland please I don't like it and I do not consider Kristen a good actress just blinks and other stuff I didn't like New Moon I just like Rob I'm waiting for Rob alone in a movie can't wait for Remember Me.

Consideration is a nice thing.Getting nominated would be great. But getting invited again for Rob would be cool. I doubt they will get a nomination. Maybe for NM soundtrack? But that's even a stretch.

Well while I didn't like NM, I think that getting considered is a good thing for the saga as a whole. I mean the Oscars have been such a bore fest for years now, that it is time to shake things up a bit. It just makes me sad that Twilight (which I liked) didn't get a chance to get considered.

I think that NM could get considered for cinematography, and perhaps Score (not soundtrack, I didn't like it).

Also I think that Robert does deserve an Oscar nomination for portraying Edward so well, for having such expressive features and being always spot on when it comes to portraying Edward's love for Bella, angst/conflict within himself and pain (when Jane said Pain and if you watch Robert's expressions and how the veins at his neck popped out as if he were really writhing in pain, that deserves an Oscar. He plays Edward perfectly). But I know that THAT will not happen, they would never give him an Oscar for playing Edward so well, they're just snobbish like that.

I would also like to see (again wishful thinking here) Billy Burke and Sheen (the one who played Aro) nominated for best supporting actors, because they really did a fantastic job. I also think Ashley plays Alice really well (however she wasn't that good in NM because of the lines she was given).

So yes that's it for me, lol. It's nice wishful thinking on my part. But I do think that those three deserve Oscars for playing their roles so well.

And yes I agree with whoever said that Kristen is not a very good actress, she doesn't have an expressive face and she is monotone and flat. And yes I have seen her in speak (so it's not just twilight), that's her look, she always looks the same in every movie like she's numb or something... neither is Taylor Lautner but at least in his case he shows that he is dedicated to the role, and that he is willing to work hard, so that earns him some respect from me.

So in the end, I think it's cool that NM is being considered, but I wouldn't count on it being nominated...

And that second movie of Robert's I haven't watched and won't watch it (just not for me), so I don't care about it.

I loved New Moon it was a billion times better than Twilight in every possible way, but it isn't oscar material. At the end of the day its still a teen vampire story.

However Little Ashes deserves a nomintation! The costumes, sets, acting, cinematography and general story are just brilliant.

P.S.
Everyone needs to stop hating on New Moon so much. It was a great movie, very professionally made and it was exactly like the book.
What more do you people want? lol

Chris Weiz is a great director, everything about New Moon just proved how bad Twilight really was.
Music, cinematography, acting (except Taylor, sorry Tay Tay but you are just bad at acting angry), cgi, camera work and colour in general, pacing, script.

i'm so happy that 'little ashes' has that potential. i particularly have a "thing" for the cinematography. it's beautiful.

i like 'new moon' a lot, but the effects will probably be up for consideration as opposed to acting nominations.

anyway. this is awesome!

Lol... This is not gonna happen. I love Rob But this is dreamy seriously. New Moon was crap But I liked Little Ashes more. And Rob did well in LA too.

I`m very glad that "Little Ashes" is eligable because it is a good film made with much less money than New Moon, that is a big production.
Rob as Salvador Dalí and Javier Beltrán as Federico Garcia Lorca are superb. Two young actors in challenging roles. Everyone wants to play Salvador Dalí, including Johnny Depp, and only Rob did it.

P.S. I love D.M.(angel wings and stardust) comment, mainly about Rob. You`re very observer. Edward is the most difficult character of the Twilight Saga. Rob knows it and he is doing a good work.

@uriel I agree with you about Frida, I loved that movie, such a fascinating person! and I'm a huge fan of Alfred Molina. However as I said before I've been to the Dali museum in Paris and he just came across as too wacky and its put me off wanting to see the movie

good luck goz ...I'm sure u'll be great.
can u believe that LA hasn't come out in peru yet??not even in dvd or anything.....mmmmm I guess my thoughts were right...independent movies don't exist in peru..so sad...I feel really sad

That would be AWESOME if they got anything .......best cinematography, best editing, whatever.

Critics that diss Rob are probably lonely old fat guys.........they're just jealous of Rob's huge throng of lusting female fans.

Strong sex appeal has never been a win with critics - has Brad ever gotten an Oscar?

MMc said...

Looked it up - Brad Pitt has only won one Oscar .......for a supporting role in 12 Monkeys when he was acting like a deranged mental patient. Not too sexy.

Robs going to have to reprise the role of Jack Nicholsons in One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest to win.......he'd be great in that I bet.

Merci said...

Sadly, Brad did not win the oscar for 12 Monkey's, but I thought he deserved it. I think Robert will grow as an actor. I have not seen Little Ashes, so I can not comment on it, but New Moon was good. Kristen did well, but her emotions were flat on screen.
It's a long shot for NM, but I doubt any of the actors will receive nominations. Popularity means nothing to the Oscars. It does help the independant films reach a wider audience if they get nominated.
It's like the grammy's, the talent is honored not the mass appeal.

@tgill
ok, so if you don't like Salvador's art you will be happy cause there isn't shown... it's rather about his life, friendships and hard times they live in. Just see it because of Rob. I also don't like his paintings so much i prefer perfums, but he was a wirdo thats why i like him.

tgill said...

@uriel I actually love Dalis art I had Metamorphosis as a poster when I was a student and as I love Greek mythology I explained the legend behind the painting to my kids. Its just that some of the correspondance that they had portrayed him as a nut but I went there about 15yrs ago and I suppose if anyone would make me watch it it would be Rob. I tend to love off the wall movies anyway I loved District 9 this year and as I love Paris and spend lots of time there I really loved Amelie, so did my kids

LOL. Some of you are hysterical. These are not getting nominated, Thank God. NM for cinematography? LOL. I'm dying. That made my night.
