Robert Pattinson's New Movie Bel Ami is Gonna Be HOT

*closes her ears and sings LaLaLaLa I hate spoilers Lalalala*

Bel Ami spoilers:

From Just Jared:

Robert Pattinson is about to turn up the heat on his new movie, Bel Ami, when shooting begins in February.

The 23-year-old Twilight hunk will be playing journalist Georges Duroy in the film adaptation of Guy de Maupassant’s 19th century novel, and Georges isn’t quite the faithful boyfriend that Edward Cullen is!

Life & Style has obtained the Bel Ami screenplay - check out some highlights!

“One of his sex romps with Christina [Ricci] finds both their characters surprised by the intensity of the racy encounter,” the mag says. “Tender, aching moments pass before Georges asks Christina’s Clotilde, ‘Now?’ And he doesn’t stop there.”

Rob’s character also gets friendly with characters played by Uma Thurman and Kristin Scott Thomas!

Gozde: Here's the original script, the BOOK :) I'll read that but not the script. I like being surprised, thank you very much!

Background of Rob's character Georges Duroy (Du Roy de Cantel, Baron du Roy de Cantel, Georges du Roy, nickname Bel Ami) from book BEL AMI OR THE HISTORY OF A SCOUNDREL by Henri Rene Guy de Maupassant, as Georges reflects on his past:
...his thoughts reverted to his parents. He saw their tiny home on the heights overlooking Rouen and the valley of the Seine. His father and mother kept an inn, La Belle-Vue, at which the citizens of the faubourgs took their lunches on Sundays. They had wished to make a "gentleman" of their son and had sent him to college. His studies completed, he had entered the army with the intention of becoming an officer, a colonel, or a general. But becoming disgusted with military life, he determined to try his fortune in Paris. When his time of service had expired, he went thither, with what results we have seen.

I am reading the book but it's too complicated.. sometimes there are some words that seems out of the real meaning. Not sure you understand what I meant.

this is the movie I'm most looking forward to seeing from, I think he'll do cunning and wicked very well and show a really different side to his acting. He's got a beautifully sweet face, but just the slightest change in expression and it can look cruel. LOVE it.

Between the script and book,
the book is a much better read.

So much lemony goodness...This movie will definitely require an R rating. Finally!!!

Agnes said...

It should be a 3D movie. His prettiness deserves to be seen in 3D. :)

I wonder if Rob is a little bit nervous of making this film, with such well established and glamorous actresses! Come on Rob, give it your best shot, it will make a man of you! ;-) Really can't say how much I'm looking forward to seeing him in this role!

Big disappointment today - received my order of the Bel Ami book from Amazon, only to find I'd ordered the FRENCH version! So have had to send it back.... good news is that I also got the DVDs for Series 1 of True Blood and Let The Right One in.

HeneciaD said...

@Carole OK ohh was it frech so bad actually I want something about him too but couldnt find in here they are giving same shits again fff I want something new about rob and dont know if RM will be show in Turkey

AP said...

Hype & Bile got hold of the script? Fuckit. Everyone will know the general plot/characterizations from the book, if they read it, but the script is different. Hopefully they’ll keep a lid on, or be sat on. lol

@CaroleUK: Let the Right One in is excellent, but the book by Lindqvist (he also did the screenplay) is better. The US remake looks to be good, though I don’t know if it can surpass the original.

I quote from the article above: "and Georges isn’t quite the faithful boyfriend that Edward Cullen is!"

My reply: Is this supposed to be compliment to Georges in some obscure illogical way? LOL, if so it is a very bad one (oh man I couldn't stop laughing when I read that line)

And I have not doubt that this movie will have some hot scenes, however it would have been MUCH hotter, beautiful and meaningful if those scenes would have been with just one woman, the one that Georges falls in love with and who falls in love with him...

AP I hope you are right and that the script is different from the book...better ending and I hope that they don't give him any more then 3 mistresses in the movie, because really it is off-putting...and then I hope he'll be a changed man by the end of the movie (that's what character development is for) and that he'll learn his lesson, and then fall hard for Suzanna, and become faithful and devoted to her as he marries her (I wish...I wish)

Ah, we'll just have to wait and see lol

I'm reading the book before I read the script, I'm up to chapter 6 in the book, and i'm enjoying it thus far. I don't mind spoilers, it actually makes me anticipate the movie WAY more :)

No darlin', Georges is a morally corrupt character and this isn't going to end with his redemption and seeing the error of his ways. He doesn't believe he's doing anything wrong, but rather, looks around at an equally morally corrupt world and justifies doing whatever it is he thinks he must to get what he wants.

And by my count, he has sexual encounters with at least five women; Rachel (the prostitute), Clotilde (his mistress), Madeline (his wife), Madame Walter (his cruelest conquest; he seduced her just to do it) and her daughter, Suzanne (his second wife).

If Rob were to spend a career just playing morally upright characters, he'd be pigeoned holed pretty quickly and would end up with a boring career. Actors like to find those characters that challenge them and in most instances, it's the characters that are least like themselves that are the most interesting to play.

I still say, that over the years, Rob is going to disappoint alot of his 'current' fans who only want to see him as the quissisential, morally upright leading man. It'll happen now and again, but not every time up to bat. And Bel Ami is -I beleieve- the first warning shot of just what some of his intentions as an actor is going to be.

Get used to it. Or go join Team Taylor. He's gonna give you that 'heroic, leading man' career.

Nikola why do I detect a condescending tone with you? It's like you want to pick a fight or something lol

It's my opinion and I am entitled to it, morally corrupt leads who never change throughout the story don't interest me. So he is free to play any characters he wants that doesn't mean that I have to either be cheering in every movie he appears in, that I must like every movie he appears in, or I must NOT be a fan of his. Geez get a grip!

Georges DOES change, at least in the book. He does not start out as morally corrupt, but rather as common and starving and wanting a better life, especially after seeing and envying the lives of Forestierre et al. He changes again when Madeline will not reveal her Self enough to him, will not discuss her past (or present) indiscretions. He hardens. You can practically see it in his eyes as if he were before you, when he kisses her with a different, objectifyng kiss devoid of the love he had for her, and from there he goes forward strictly calculating which steps and when will get him the money, position, and power he now craves above all else.

Who is playing Suzanne at the end of the film??

I don't know--I had suggested Kristen but was nixed.
