Robert Pattinson Wax Figure Unveiled

I'm having a hard time with this... I don't think it looks like him. I'm hoping this is just a bad picture. I've trolled my way around Madame Tussauds before and had fun... so I'm holding out hope...

EXCITED CROWDS OF TWILIGHT FANS TO UNVEIL WAX FIGURE OF HOLLYWOOD HEARTTHROB “R-PATTZ” AT MADAME TUSSAUDS NY

Crowds of screaming fans (Kat ~ I wonder if the screaming will be as loud for a fake Rob?) will flood Times Square to help unveil a wax figure of Hollywood heartthrob Robert Pattinson on Thursday, March 25 at 10:30 a.m. at Madame Tussauds New York, 234 West 42nd St. (b/w 7th & 8th Aves.), Manhattan. After the unveiling, fans will be able to cozy up to R-Pattz’s figure for photos and even a hug. Once immortalized (in wax), the Twilight vampire and Remember Me star will join the likes of Johnny Depp, George Clooney, Sean “Diddy” Combs and Leonardo DiCaprio – all of whom have wax figures in the famed Times Square wax attraction.

Pattinson’s figure is dressed in black trousers and fitted shirt. A jacket in a contrasting color finishes off his young, hip look. R-Pattz’s wax likeness also sports the actor’s signature tousled locks, which fans are invited to run their fingers through. Each strand of hair was inserted one-by-one by the Tussauds studio artists, who created the figure. They spent hundreds of hours studying photos and watching video footage of Pattinson to create the incredibly lifelike figure, which is posed standing up with hands on hips and will be housed in the “Opening Night Party” section of Madame Tussauds New York.

The first 100 fans who arrive to see R-Pattz’s figure on the day it is unveiled will receive free Pattinson and Twi-hard gear, as well as free admission to the attraction. Fans both young and old, often referred to as “Twi-hards,” can’t seem to get enough of R-Pattz. The young British actor became an overnight sensation following his portrayal of Edward Cullen, the beloved vampire in the film adaptation of Twilight. With a loyal following stretching across multiple continents, Pattinson is one of today’s hottest stars. In fact, Madame Tussauds London will also unveil a figure of R.Pattz on the same day as Madame Tussauds New York.

R-Pattz’s fans and representatives from Madame Tussauds NY will be available for interviews on site.

Huh........it looks like one of those people you see in a grocery store in your hometown that makes you go, "Holy crap! He looks like Robert Pattinson" and then you stare at him for a while, then go pay for your spaghetti sauce and maxi pads, and go home. It certainly doesnt look like HIM. (Note: When I say "him", I imagine angels singing.)

mmmm.. yea... I dunno... maybe it's the small pic... we need a larger up close picture to get a feel.

From far away, if I had to take a wild guess, I'd say it was Rob. But are the cheeks a bit too round? They shadow under the jaw doesn't make it the clear "I know you want to lick me" message.

I'm holding my final judgement.

TheQuietOne said...

They certainly did not capture the jawporn!!

I was a good sport and went along with my family to the NYC Mdm Tussard's - ended up being one of the funnest afternoons of my LIFE! Don't go by the picture. I loved that you can just go right up to the wax figures, touch them, pose with them. I have an awesome picture of my flipping the bird to Derek Jeter :)

He looks like a cross between Rob & Bill from True Blood.....creepy..

The jaw or chin is too thin or narrow...but still, very talented..

Capitu Santiago said...

Wax figures are scary. Always hated them.
Just no...
=(

Kat said...

I'm still trying to figure out the issue... lack of jaw porn, the TDP is not captured to my satisfaction :-) ... hair too big (is that possible). I don't know... not digging it just yet. Not feeling the need to lick!

solas said...

sorry--i find this creepy. :-(

angie-k said...

hmmmmm...don't think they got it right.. I agree with RPG - more of a Rob/Stephen Moyer blend...

not booking a flight to NY to see this one...

Kat said...

That's it... they're missing the plaid!

Ummm...first Mdme ruins my Nic Cage for me (he had like, yak hair chest hair straight outta Austin Powers *shudders*) And now...this...um...Rob...I guess?

You know, you can like, touch these at this wax museum...if you're brave...I love Rob...I just don't know if I love him enough to touch...this *shudders again*

I'm with Jewels. Wax museums creep me out! I remember going to one in Lancaster, PA, because there was nothing else open at night. They had a "hall of presidents" which was nothing but wax figures lined up against the wall like they were waiting to be shot. They had cheap polyester suits on them, and a plastic shield up in front of them so you didn't touch them. And no one touched them. Not even the maintenance crew, judging by the inch thick dust on Reagan's head and the cobwebs dangling from Carter's nose....

Holy crap! It looks like Luke Perry or something like that... Mme Tussauds really kicks ass but this time they failed bad in trying to put Rob's beauty in a wax figure. They did that with Brad Pitt at London Mme Tussauds. Ruined his poor pretty face with a carrot tan. =/

Emily said...

I don't think it's bad. Pretty good actually. Rob's face could never be perfectly recreated in any medium. I totally agree with what you said, Sarah! LOL!

LMAO @ Kat! The TDP is definitely lacking here and nowhere near lickable.

LOL @ Lisa & Alessandra! Yak chest hair and carrot tan! hehehe

Ok, the pic on Tussaud's website is a wee bit bigger, but not really by very much...really can't see it any better, but here's the link

They gave him an underbite and squinty beady eyes. Not good.

xoRobxo said...

It looks ...uhm... so so. Something is off. . Like the lower half of the face.. I don't know....you can't copy perfection.
I have this little funny story about Madam Tussards in Vegas. They had Brad Pitt. so I had my mom take a pic of me with Brad. When I got the pictures back. My mom had totally cut out Wax Brad from the photo. so it was me and the left arm of Brad...that was all just this left arm. guess I'm still bitter..lol

Like the time I almost got arrested for being up a creepy life-sized robot clown..I would get kicked outa that place so fast.

When I bought New Moon the other day in FYE there was a cardboard cutout of Rob! Wow!! It was so like he was there for a minute! LOL I can only imagine what it would be like to see him in real life! Love ya Rob!!

Marna said...

The jaw isn't quite right, it's not strong enough, & his neck looks too skinny or something. I can't beleive they made his hair so you can run your fingers through it, it's going to be a bald wax figure in less than a day.

MMc said...

How interesting. I've never seen Rob stand with his hands on his hips .......and I've spent 100's of hours watching clips and pix of him too.

I can't believe they would let you run your fingers through IT'S hair!!!

It is a little wierd but ........he's in some pretty good company.

Emily said...

LOL @ Marna!

The real Rob could pull the bald look off. Wax Rob....I'm not so sure.

bonemama said...

Rob's gorgeousness can not be duplicated in anyway..thats where the problem lies. I give them credit for trying.

Rob will not attend ceremony 25th March London -
New York museum Madame Tussauds sent me info:
@NYCWax: We're so glad to have his figure! There's been millions of requests. Robert's not attending the launch in London either.
(I twitted on @RobLovePatts about Rob&wax, then found message: "Thanks for your tweet! Rob is not attending, but his wax figure sure is. :)", so I asked them about London&got reply)

so very wrong...rpattzgirl is right. Robbill.

It looks off, yet I can't put my finger on why..... Nope, it doesn't look like him.

Anonymous said...

@sarah ITA that's it exactly! he just isn't the one! and yeah, Angels singing is what I hear when i look at the real man. This is just not right...the eyes I believe which is hard to do since his eyes do have Angel DNA shining through them when he looks at you or the camera. And the lashes need to be waaaayyy longer than they put them and the people who looked at hours of footage must've been all men because no woman would just leave it the way it is....Am I wrong? I love that they wanted to do this for our Robbie P. but it's just not right yet...they need to enlist the aid of one of us to get it right.

Jaw? nope.
eyes? nope. not yet they need to continue to work on it a little more...
smile? weeelllll almost but not quite!
We all have looked at hours and hours more footage and more pics prolly than any other humans on this green/blue planet, so they need to enlist one of us to let them know where they went wrong!

When God made the original Rob he broke the mold. But I still think I'd run my fingers thru the hair for grins and giggles.

idontknow said...

He looks like George Michael! lol

It 'kinda' looks like Rob but just enough is "off" that it doesn't really.

But.... fans are invited to run their fingers through his hair?
It's not wax too?

dina said...

I was one of the thousands that had asked for his wax on my way out of the museum. What a let down when I was at the museum last Chrismas and he wasn't there. He was the only reason I went there again, I was crying over my money but I should have asked first. I took it for granded that he would be there but no he wasn't and now I have to pay another vistit. The things I do for this man and the money I spend.... I hope they don't make you pay for the photo like Obamma and Mike Jackson's.

tina tri said...

I think it looks fine, love the clothes, it capture his style....I wish I can see it.....

MsTaurus14 said...

When I first saw this I thought, ooooo this is good...but the more I look at it, I'm not so sure it really looks like him, similar maybe? I don't know maybe a bigger pic would do it justice. I've been to the Madame Trussaud's in London a few times, and some of the works look damn real some....meh..not so much, this could be one of those...so we'll see.

Kelly said...

It certainly doesn't look 100% like Rob, but... meh...
They shouldn't have had him standing with his hands on his hips, though. Standing with one hand raised in the act of brushing back his hair might have pleased us a bit more.

HeneciaD said...

hahah thats robs difference they had worked on it for hours but he doesnt exacly like rob lol but like the idea of him being immortal

Unknown said...

Looks like Hugh Jackman or something to me... >.<

Chloé said...

Oh my...

noisefaidaus said...

Not a very good likeness but I guess they did their best working form only video and photos.
I can imagine it would be very difficult to capture the sultry look in Rob's eyes and just his general hotness.
Plus he does have many different looks from the night out with the boys, hiding from paps and fans, world premier, award shows, night out with cast members, in costume on set etc., well you get it, which would you choose?

Jazz_Girl317 said...

Ummm....Yes, No!!!! Not so much. I mean we all knew it would be impossible to capture the perfection. But, really...just...NO!!!

Tess said...

His jaw is too narrow!! WTH.. Pffpt. they should've called an RK. we can trace the shape of his face with our eyes closed...

Kerri said...

It's not so bad. I mean, lets be honest, nothing will compare to the real thing.

Angie said...

I agree with RPG. Looks like RobBill. LMAO

The jaw is too narrow. The eyes are too squinty for the smile. His eyes should be more open. Usually, squinty eyed Rob means a BIG toothy grin.

Cupcake Donna said...

hate it.

Why such thin creepy lips and squinty eyes?

blech

Fiftyshadesofpink said...

Ewww! This reminds me of the Edward Cullen dolls - remember them? F***ing ghastly.
Just shows that Rob, although perfection, is not at all plasticy (spelling?). Wait till we see the Taycob waxwork, bet it'll look exactly like him... Not being mean, just saying :)

Looky Looky said...

Nose is slightly too long, and the eye diameter from top to bottom is too small - so the proportion's too small.

(Sorry, but I just couldn't muzzle the artist and get her back in her cage.)

Looky Looky said...

Every time I see a pic of this lad, my fingers start twitching for my sketchbook!

noisefaidaus said...

@ Madeleine then you should get out the sketch book don't cage the artist let it out to play. But you must share the results.

Jane said...

Where is his square jawline and chin. They put his hands on his hips instead of in his pockets. What pictures did they study, certainly not the ones we see. I wonder what Rob and his family will think of it?

Looky Looky said...

An excellent point, Wen - but currently this artist is at her day-job. Boo.

Luckily, no one can see my twitchy hand here in cubicle-land.

Looky Looky said...

However, I promise to share the results of any RP related inspiration, Wen.

noisefaidaus said...

@Madeleine Looking forward to the finished product. There is nothing better than when something is done from the heart, and completed with passion!

Unknown said...

Hum... The mouth area is strange... don't look like robert's

Lemon Annie said...

It looks like Dermot Mulrooney. The hair is too dark and the eyes are too squinty! The jaw is not right and the hair is too big.

Anonymous said...

Hmmm, reminds me of Hugh Jackman a bit. They need to make another one...
