Robert Pattinson has revealed that he would love to star in a romantic comedy.

The Twilight star fancies hiding away his vampire fangs for something more light-hearted, but claimed he hasn't found anything perfect.

"I'd love to, but they are always just so rubbish - I mean like, I'd absolutely love to do it, but I've literally never read a good rom-com script," he told GMTV in an interview airing on March 29.

Robert, who stars in Remember Me with Pierce Brosnan and Emilie de Ravin, reckoned there's too much competition to be a romantic comedy king like Hugh Grant.

"I think it's such a typical career choice for me, as well, to be honest," he continued.

"If you do a big franchise thing - especially for English guys - you try and do a Hugh Grant part or something. Which I don't think would be the best idea for me... mainly because it's quite difficult to be Hugh Grant!"

Robs right, there are very few good romantic comedies out there and most of them are crap....i'm glad he's so picky and choosy...

Once he finds a good one he'll be great in it!

And the crap comedies makes big money. Uff, I don't like the world.
And the set is round with walls and guards in Budapest. From 8 nobody can go near there,as the girls wrote on rpattinson.net.

I hope Rob never becomes Hugh Grant. I mean I love the guy but wouldn't want to see Rob caught with a hooker in his car in LA... LOL...

I believe that Kristen said in an interview that she would also like to do a rom-comedy. They should make one together. Ha! (Seriously, I would totally watch that!)

Hope Rob is just as selective with this kind of role as he has been with everything else so far...Most rom-coms are so blah and stereotypical...

FILTM!

Love the ginormous pic!! I could SO see Rob in a GOOD Cary Grant (or Hugh Grant) type role. ITA w/rpg~it's good to be selective about roles and I think Rob has good radar about that.

Oh Robert you are a gazillion times more attractive than Hugh Grant. And a WAY better actor. I'm not saying that Hugh is not a good actor, just that he was always so average to me. And that Robert is MUCH better than him.

And I agree that 90% of romantic comedies are garbage. What I would love to see Robert in (aside from great epic/sweeping/intense-love against all odds- romance/drama) is a light hearted romance. And that's different from romantic comedy genre.

RPG and jc: I'm glad he's picky too. And I think he does have 'good radar'.

Maybe he'll have to write something someday himself. He's talked about writing, and I'm sure he'd be good at it, but, of course, screenplays are their own specific field.
And every creative endeavour takes time to mature. He'd be good at so much: acting, producing, writing, music. But to become excellent at anything he has to concentrate on it. He knows that, which is why his music is on the back-burner now.

A Cary Grant, not Hugh Grant, type role would be good for him, but you need a really good screenplay for that.

I can imagine him in something similar to "Love Actually" - with tons of very good actors and no one starring in particular - just slices of different lives, all of them equally interesting. Anyone remembers that lovely little film?

He's so right about romantic comedies... they are so dull, each one a copy of the other... and once again, Rob proves his taste and care in his choices!

But hopefully, someone will turn on their brains and come up with something original, one day... because I would *really* love to see Rob do some comedy, romantic or not! :D
