Simon Cowell Wants a Piece of Robert Pattinson?

Well who doesn't?

From AceShowBiz which is not the most reliable source out there.

Rumor has it, Robert Pattinson has been approached by "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell to ink a major record deal. It is also reported that Simon is not the only person who is interested to sign the "Twilight" actor as there are other recording companies which pursue him.

A bidding war reportedly has taken place with the Edward Cullen depicter being reluctant to seal a deal with Simon. "He is a bit wary of signing up with Cowell who is, of course, associated with 'The X Factor' and pop," a source said as quoted by The Sun.

Singing is not something new for Robert Pattinson as he has contributed two songs in the first installment of "Twilight" movie series. Earlier in March 2009, he revealed his desire to release an indie album, saying he is not afraid if the record fails because he "got nothing to lose."

I highly doubt it as well...

and lets be honest here, when would he ever have time to write and record music at the rate he's going now?

He's literraly going from one movie, premiere, movie set to another with little time off.

I'd love to hear music from him, but I just don't see that happening in the near future. He'd probably use a fake name anyway...but we'd all know it was him!

Rob is certainly extremely busy this year with all of his films and then there is the talk about "Water for Elephants" as well, so I doubt he would have time to record anytime soon anyway.
I would also think Rob has more taste than to sign with SC. Too gross.

Don't do it Rob! Not with Simon, anyway. Simon is just seeing the $ signs and your "cash cow" potential. Plot your own course, honey. We can wait... just.

ps: so wished you could have performed last night. That would have been awesome!

Good Morning Everyone...

rob's record failing, highly unluckly - not with his fan base but working with simon cowell, not sure about that - he seems like he would be kind of shady. but rob has a good support group that i hope would always look after his best interest.

oh, by the way the drought ended yesterday, let's see how long we go now without another sighting.

FILTM :)

Well, if Rob even thought it would be in poor taste to be on anymore Twilight soundtracks, then forming this cheesy, commercial partnership seems just a tad unlikely.

@ VoL - Like I said - Cash Cow potential. Rob has more intelligence than to sign up with Simon Cowell.

@Louisa...I so agree that Rob performing would have been sublime. I was commenting last night that Rob singing Hallelujah would have been breathtaking. No disrespect to JT. :)

Wonder why this has surfaced now? I guess because Cowell is setting up his own label, but....

Rob has spent some time in a studio, here and there, though it hasn't seemed like he's ready to take the plunge. Still hoping for RM...still hoping for any f'ing tunes..lol and still sniffy about VFair..

Can't see him doing this. He doesn't want to be a pop artist. Didn't Rob say if ever released an album, it would be w/o his picture on it and with very little fanfare. He doesn't want it to be "that guy from Twilight" released an album.

Back off Simon!

FILTM!

Also "Summit Entertainment" bigheads said, at the conference 29 October 2009, they will ask Rob for "Eclipse" music (answered "Why is there no Rob's track this time?": he didn't want to release any of his songs on "New Moon" album...)!?

I hope he NEVER signs any deal with that Simon asshole. This dude is too full of himself and sorry I refuse to take him serioiusly. Why he made a career outta being obnoxious and rude is beyond me but this guy is a joke IMO. He is a ruthless businessman I guess so that probably helped him.

Rob stay FAR away from this dude. He's only in it for milking you dry for money. I think you are smarter than this and well with comments like "I won't listen to anyone" when it comes to work... I think signing up with Cowell is outta the question :-). GOOD lol. Find someone who appreciate your talent rather than someone who only sees dollar signs.

There is absolutely NO WAY in HELL that Rob will even consider signing with that slimey greedy selfish bastard! If he did, he would've needed to become one of those manufactured platic beings and Rob's waaaay to cool for it and got way too much personality and freedom! Music is something that he does for his heart and soul and if he ever does an album the main reason for it would be first and foremost the need to create something pure and beautiful, express his inner feelings/emotions and definately NOT to make money. And this is something that Simon Cowell will never be able to grasp. Rob definately does not need him to record a successful album! He is much too good for this shit!

I would love to have an entire album of Rob playing acoustic guitar and singing in that raw, emotion filled voice. Never Think is just about worn out on my CD. There is just something about having his voice in my car, in my living room, in my Ipod, in my office. Well you know what I mean.

Chicago Shari-I know EXACTLY what you mean! I would have total heartfail if he were to ever release an album-but I'm not holding my breath. :(

Hi RPlover. I know. He is just too busy. I am glad for him. He has to be learning lines for Bel Ami as we speak and I am thinking growing out the hair and facial hair for that part as well. He has to take advantage of all of the opportunties but from what I know about him, he will be smart and take on what he knows he can do well. I was so happy to see him on television last night even if it cost him all the nonsense with the photographers again. I just really miss him when it goes too long without any word of what he is doing or how he is.

I wouldn't worry about him signing up with Simon Cowell either. Rob's got too much class and sense to go that route.

But I have thought about his 'credibility' with this and I know he's thinking about that too because it seems that when actors try to become singers, they fail. Although oddly enough, singers become actors all the time. Weird.

What he needs is 'legitimacy' as a musician and I do think he's got some because of those two songs on that soundtrack which fueled desire by many to see him make more music. What I'd really like to see him do first though, is find a role in which he could play a singer/musician on screen. Like Jeff Buckley for instance. THAT would seal the deal and absolute legitimacy as a musician would be his.

But I don't see him doing this (music) for some time though. I think he's going to spend the next several years establishing himself as an actor and filmmaker and then taking a few years away from the cameras to concentrate on music as I think he'd want to focus ALL of his attention on it. Just a guess.

BTW...he was just lovely last night. And I was bowled over by the fact that with just a little over a year of stardom under his belt, he was put in league with those stars of whom 'no introduction' was required. The tragectory of his career and his standing in Hollywood has been nothing short of a bloody miracle. And now possibly going toe to toe with Penn and Witherspoon, playing this incredible character? (aging him to 93? Hello Benjamin Button) Our baby is on his way.

Oh my. Do I FLTM? Oh yes. I do.

So sorry 'bout the double post. I'm using my friends computer and believe me, Rob's legs aren't the only thing that's wonky. Me trying to use someone else's computer...now that's an exercise in wonky.

Sorry again.

(shit. hope I don't post this one twice too. If I do, you know the drill...I'm stupid. I'm wonky. And I'm sorry)

And...wait for it...IFLTM!!!
