@Nik ITA and solas
From my experience no one don't want to hear about stupid things they do because they know it's stupid and don't need to hear it from others. I have smokers around me and I want to so badly make them stop but unfortunately I can't do anything about it. It is their decision and theres only.
I like to let people make their own decisions :D

Good point Solas...

People get away with shit all damn day long. And truth be told, if Rob is as sexy and gorgeous in this thing as I think he's gonna be, most of his audience isn't gonna give a damn that he character 'gets away' with it all.

Critics might take some issue with it. Nah. They'll probably like it too as it is a more realistic approach to life.

One thing though...
What about Suzanne? She wasn't a morally corrupt character, was she? Seems like she was an innocent caught up in it all. Loving and marrying an SOB whose children I would assume she would one day bear while he's running around with god knows who behind her back. Or do you think he would continue on as such once he's gotten everything he wants? Obviously, he's not going to let Clo go, but do you think a character such as Georges would be satisfied with just his wife and his one mistress?

I'm trying to think here. Yes, Suzanne defied her parents, but didn't she really love him? I would guess though that as the years passed and his true colors revealed (and god forbid she were to ever discover what he did to her mother), I would suspect that she too could become a bitter and ruined woman too. So...they weren't all a bunch of crumb bums.

Were they?

Okay Solas. THAT was funny. And since you're older and a mother and a doctor, I guess he'd just have to take it with his head down and a...'yes ma'am.'

There's a thing called QUIT. You just walk up to your boss, throw a bunch of shit in his/her face and hollar..."I quit!"

Then you come and play on the blog all day.

And starve to death.

And end up on a park bench.

Hey. It's a life.

I agree with you in all your today comments, about Rob and CV. Mainly in ROB doing LORD BYRON. It would be great!!! Rob/Byron.

@Crazy vamp
Don`t give up! I`m sure Rob is bursting out laugh of all this situation. He`s an open mind man and he knows a joke is simply a joke nothing more than this.
Kisses
I`m gonna write to you later.

I don't know if this is going to go anywhere, but as the conversation has been about different roles for Rob...

I was watching Craig Ferguson the other night and Pierce Brosnan was on and they briefly discussed some Bond related things. Personally, I loved him as Bond and has been my favorite, but I am liking Daniel Craig more and more.

So anyhoo, here is what I was wondering - can anyone see Rob as a future Bond? I mean, I can from the charasmatic, lady killer, but... god love his wonky legs, I just don't see the action part of it.

Anyone ever think of it, or is it just too outrageous with him being adorkable and wonky?

solas said...

From what I recall in the book, Suzanne wanted to get the heck away from her parents. She may have adored him, not sure. She had something like-- I like you better than the others. Meaing, he was a better choice, perhaps better looking, but she didn't seem head over heels with him. But I thought he confessed his love for her to her, before his divorce; do you think that was just scheming on his part, love for her dowry? Am not totally sure. Also, unless I misunderstood, he did not seduce her before marriage when they went away.
Everyone was using someone.

Martini Gal...

He certainly has the 'look' for Bond, but I dunno. His career would have to take a real down turn for him to take it (even tho Bond is the 'ultimate' male fantasy role) If he ends up an A-lister (Oscar noms, continued box office), then no, I don't see it. Oh. Maybe he'd do it as a lark for one film. But I cannot see him getting himself bogged down with 3 to 5 picture deal which is what the producers would demand.

Although...
If they were to do a 'young' Bond, telling the story of how he came to be 007, that might intrigue him.

Actually, if he's going to go for another franchise, I'd like to see him play the young Magneto in the proposed X-Men spin off. Supposedly, they're looking at telling the story of the young Eric Lenscher (Magneto) and Charles Xavier when they met as young men. THAT would be a great character for him to take on. And I believe Rob has said that that would actually interest him.

nikola6 said...

But no Spiderman. You don't want to step into someone else's franchise if you can help it.

hazeleyes said...

someday it is my fondest wish that he will quit smoking...its just so bad for you.

Chocolate Martini Gal said...

I wasn't thinking of actuality really because you're right - there is picture committment, etc. I was thinking of would he fit in such a movie.

Chocolate Martini Gal said...

No, no - no Spiderman!

nikola6 said...

No, I think he was totally scheming where it came to Suzanne. She was the 'perfect' wife for the life he wanted. And no, he did not sleep with before they married. Again, part of the seduction of a young, innocent girl. But what that did to Virginie...

His seduction of her was for NOTHING. It got him nothing. He simply did it because he could. It was beyond forgiveable and showed him for what he truly was; as Rob has said...a souless creature. Or something like that. I know he has said that he considers Georges, souless.

annieEvilRobPornPusher said...

Loisada said...

@ Solas and Nik: You are making me want to go back and read the book, it's been years. What I remember about Suzanne is that she was not necessarily cut from a higher moral fiber, but was first and foremost inexperienced and very naive. So the question would be: will she truly be an unhappy wife when she discovers his true character, or will he gradually corrupt her and bring out her own worst sides? In that case she would seem destined to "grow up" and become a "user" along the lines of the other women in the book. Noone gets away from this story unscathed or unsullied... except of course Georges, who wears the dreck so well!

nikola6 said...

Oh hell yeah...

He would make a gorgeous, charming, funny, fuckhawt James Bond.

Absolutely no doubt.

And maybe if they went with a story 'bout the young Bond, we could watch him transform from a 'pigeon toed, wonky legged doofus into...well...BOND!!!

Just like a swan. LOL!

I don't often participate in the dialogues here for many reasons. Time zones and grading papers are the major prohibitive reasons...

The humor here exchanged during the "partays" is what goes on everyday in dorms and student housing on and near every college campus the world over and among good friends everywhere. It's enjoyable humor captured on most of the ff sites. The banter is a great diversion from the stresses that plague us on our rolls throuch life.

I agree with most of the comments here about the freedom of speech. We can all be adult and allow every opinion to be expressed whether we agree with it or not. As long as it's done in an adult manner without a prejudicial and judgmental innuendo, it is fine. I have not read anything that was designed to be demeaning or hurtful anytime on any of these threads or blogs.

I love this site because everyone is welcome. A good laugh everyday is a treasure. While I have read some things that may be considered to be risque by some, the humor was still the intent of the comment. Disrespect was never the intent.

Rob is a smart one. I've detected a double entendre many times during some of his interviews. He has a great sense of humor and I'm sure he can tell the difference between humor and filth, but bawdy is practiced everywhere.

I'm digressing and rambling, so I'm out of here for now. Stacks of essays are summoning me.

Cheers to the NB's. You've brought joy to my rather calm and uneventful being.

annie--= If it is something merely stupid, like investing all of one's money into some obviously ridiculous scheme, or even gambling all of one's money and possessions in vegas, I might point out it is something I wouldn't do, but add, 'it's your choice.'
But when it comes to life and death, or even just plain danger, I think it criminal for myself to not say anything, to just say--it's your decision. It is like standing by when someone is playing russian rouletter, or someone who says he is going to swallow pills and kill himself. It is, to me, 'standing by the blood of your brother while it is spilt.'
But that's just me-I know, I am strange.

If our panties go *puff* because of him. If we say that well maybe he is j* off in that bathroom. If we talk about unicorns or whatever.
HE WOULD NOT BOTHER TO EMAIL anyone. Because it is not important.
He has stuff to do!

Twitter might be a different stuff,as Nik pointed out. I do not know. I don't have a Twitter, or anything like that.

One more thing, I lost my grand-parents because of smoking. They had lung cancer. I do not smoke, nor does anyone in my family anymore. But I think it is his businness. If I am concerned? Well, hell yeah! I love him.
But he is a grown-up, and I am not his mom (thank God), and he is not my guy (unfortunatelly!).

Well, I see you are talking about Bel Ami now. I'll take my time to read it, so that I can keep up with you all.
See ya!

And, hey Rob! I have a labrador, just like this one in the pic. Yep, he licks me too. He is adorable and very friendly.

CV--I don't think any of us were thinking he would take the time to bother to email us; as for myself, I merely said that only hearing from him would I change my mind or attitude about certain things being offensive or disrespectful, and some things I would continue even if he wasn't so happy about what I say (Tough Boogies again, Buster!). So since I don't expect to hear from the lad, I will continue thinking and writing they way and what I do.

Candy Girl said...

@Solas-I was surprised by the lack of comeuppance only because that is the way most stories are structured. It didn't bother me a bit. Again, I didn't care for most of the women in the story. That surprised me even more than the ending because I had heard the book being touted for its strong female characters. What did you think of the women in the book?

solas said...

Candy--the first time I read BelAmi, i was in highschool and couldn't understand what was happening- it was pretty much over my head. I DID get that georges was using people to get ahead.
Reading it as an adult, I was still pretty shocked that women behaved like that then--even though I had read a thousand times about how victorian women actually behaved, for instance, it didn't make sense in my view of the olden days. Adultery really shocks and horrifies me; what can I say. yet, as a psychologist, (and as an intelligent girl raised in an oppressive situation where girls were expected to be good wives and mothers and nothing more) I can understand the intelligent women in those times being frustrated about not being able to hold political positions, to hold jobs, to have to hide their gender to publish books, to have their intelligence wasted or stolen by their men, to have their hunger to learn and function in the world never sated, never even fed. And yet, I would not have resorted to, and did not resort to, adultery. I did not even resort to selling myself, my body, by marrying someone with money who could help me get ahead, even learn, or live as I wanted to live. On the other hand, I had a choice-- I DO live in times where women can get an educaton and a job and work to get ahead, and so I escaped, wen to university, etc. I try to follow the teaching 'Don't judge another until you are in his place' and I wasn't living in those times, so I don't know for sure if I wouldn't have acted the way the women in the book and apprently in real life at least in those times) did. I can only hope I wouldn't have.

solas said...

I also see Georges differently. I don't think he was bad or soul-less to begin with.

Fae007 said...

Annie you officially killed me!
FILTM!!!!!
And the song!!! :)))) I didn't even notice it was repeated LOL!

Candy Girl said...

I agree with you there. I thought he was a sociopath at first the way he thought about strangling the folks he was jealous of, and laughing about the violence he committed in Africa. As the book progressed, I just found myself identifying with Georges a little bit more. He lost me again when he hit Clo, but I think he was just a product of his era. I didn't care much for him or the women. Do you think Maupassant was trying to make any kind of point, or do you think he was just trying to capture the Parisian society at the time?

Shani said...

Sorry that I'm late replying back.

Desi- Shame on you messing with people. LMAO I didn't know Pretty Woman was a Disney movie? Well, hell. LOL

Nik- Now you want me to think of who I want dirt on? Damn. LOL But I'll get back to you on that.

Solas- You are not strange. To each their own. Everybody has their own thing about what is sensible. And I remember you talking about your past and curse words. I'm so sorry that you had to go through that. But we joke a lot and for over the year I've been at this blog it has been worse. We have said some crazy, dirty, and funny things on this blog. It truly is not meant to hurt anyone.

Nik is right about Rob looking at FF and looking at blogs. I've said it and so have others said that we believe Rob has commented before on here. I'm sure by now he has seen this blog and read some of our comments. Robsessed is too popular of a blog. Or at least he has heard about it. Rob said recently that he and Kris have looked up stuff about themselves.

Babara- Your right too. Rob said at that London NM premiere interview that he "screams". And that was a sexual innuendo. He talked about that toilet seat being too clean. He knows how to joke around. Plus, we saw him being drunk one to many times. The boy knows how to have a good time and go with the flow. He's always laughing. And he has 4 young best friends who are all guys. I know they talk way dirtier than we do. LOL

Shani said...

Oh and Suzanne in Bel Ami I felt was naive. It shocked me a bit too that George doesn't get his in the end. He just walks off into the sunset. And it seems as though he may get back with that other lady who he truly loved. So the cycle of adultery may continue. That's what I got out of it from how it all ends.

annieEvilRobPornPusher said...

RIP Fae ;) It was a good death.
Well, when you watching Rob you don't notice anything except him.

Fae007 said...

That's right Annie, I can't see or hear anything around me when I'm watching him, you tell me something, I nod, and when you ask me again you have to repeat me 3 times! :)

solas said...

andy--I think he WAS trying to make several points, and WAS writing about the times.
I don't know if you've ever read Hamsun's book Hunger, but I was struck with the idea that both started out so poor, wondering where and when their next meal would be. In Hunger, the narrator (who I think was Hamsun himself), went ill and mad from hunger, did strange and deranged things, including hitting people, stealing, etc. It seemed to me that Georges would have ended up the same, except for his manipulations. And he knew that. I don't know if anyone could have actually risen or achieved in that society by only working.

solas said...

sorry--that was Candy, not andy.

Candy Girl said...

I felt like the point of the book came out when the poet (I forget his name at the moment) spoke to Georges about death, and when Georges witnessed Forestier's death. I think everything that Georges did was motivated by fear, most particularly his fear of death. I think on the surface he seemed motivated by greed or sex, but underneath that was a need to make his mark so that he could live eternally in the memories of others. Of course, we see how fruitless his drive is when he steps into Forestier's shoes both literally and figuratively as if the man never existed. And that is why he became obsessed with him after he died. He feared being as replaceable as Forestier. I reallt enjoyed the book and cannot wait for the movie. Thank god it's not going to be a Summit film!

annieEvilRobPornPusher said...

Hi Angie,not many NB's around...

solas said...

Another thing I noticed about the character of Georges in the book, (I don't know if the film shows or implies this at all) is that he started out as a country bumpkin, on a farm, and he thought in terms of agriculture. Even when he was already in his scheming, he worked on a garden for someone and loved getting back to soil and growing things. It seemed to me his thinking was in culitvating, increasing the bounty, and as a farmer will look to more succesful crops and ask which fertilizer was used, which seeds, etc, unfortunately Georges made it a point very early (after that first dinner when he saw what others had and wanted that, too)that he wanted the secrets, the insides, etc (there were lots of sexual innuendos in that musing when he was watching the trains go in and out!)of those successful 'crops', of amassing the wealth that the men with whom he dined had. And when he found that the inner secrets were the women, he at first was not going after them; he was TAKEN IN--first by Clotilde, and then it became easier for himself, as he saw the other women give him attention, as he realized he was desirable and they were willing to give him what he wanted and needed, money and advancement being primary, sex secondary.

annieEvilRobPornPusher said...

Fae,there???

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSvCjP3p840&feature=fvw

Haven't seen this one.

solas said...

Yes, the poet and his comments were crucial, and mentioned/came abck to haunt him, but seemed to me to reiterate what Georges' conerns were at the beginning of the book==not wanting to have to worry at the end of the month if he would eat til the next paycheck. Fear of hunger , of starving, seemed to be the motivating factor.
And i thought it sadly sweet and interesting in a twisted way how he wanted to show his parents what he had achieved, and to take care of them, and did not despise them for their poverty and simpleness, as many social-climbers did and do

Candy Girl said...

Yes-I thought that too. I was fully expecting him to be dismissive of his parents, embarrassed even. However, he clearly loved them and enjoyed being able to take care of them. I can't wait to see how Rob interprets all this. The media surrounding the film so far depicts Georges as a womanizer/social climber. Period. The reality is much more complicated and I'm excited Rob took on this challenge. He was a good choice for the role. Rob is so inherently likeable that the audience will root for him despite his failings. Of course, a lot depends on the script. Do you know if the script has leaked. I would LOVE to read that too!

solas said...

The script was leaked, but I don't know if it was the final script. I don't think it overs all of what I feel are the psychological intrigues and complications of the book, but that is where the actors might make a difference. Just as Rob felt strongly about how to play Edward, beyond the script, especially with insights from Stephenie Meyers' Midnight Sun, I would imagine a bright lad such as himself would have insights beyond the script, especially having read the book. I don't know about the intelligence and insight of the other actors, nor of the director, nor of the director's willingness to listen to Rob and anyone else with intelligence.

nzkstewlover said...

CRAP. SO HANDSOME

Candy Girl said...

Kristin Scott Thomas is sure to be brilliant. I have a good feeling about Christina Ricci as Clo. She is good at playing the coquette. I think Uma Thurman is a very intelligent woman, and I've enjoyed her work. I think this is a rocking cast. Again, I just need to find that script, but the ingredients seem to be in place for a fantastic film. Well, it was nice chatting with you Solas. I'm off to get my Survivor fix! Have a nice evening.

lallieb said...

Jumping on late as usual. Love, love, his look as Georges, and I gotta read that damn book after all the talk here.
Unconsciously, really, my rule of thumb, when I make a comment about Rob, is how would he feel about it, should he see it? Of course, no one REALLY knows, we can only surmise his reaction and level of humor to anything we have to say about him. However, we all have read or heard him speak ALOT and what I, personally, have come away with (see Harper's interview for one) is Rob as a sensitive, a bit thin skinned young man, admitting his paranoid side. He surely is evolving and getting a thicker skin, but I still believe what he has shared about himself and want to continue to respect that. Obviously Rob is smart and more confident than be betrays, and yes his humor. But I still don't ever want to embarrass him because it is the internet and he could read anything we write or someone he knows could and tell him. There have been threads on this site that I wish to God he would read, but others I would never, ever want him to see.
P.S. Kristen is not ever going to be anywhere near a movie set he is on. I'm pretty confident of that.
@Desi, thanks for stirring that up LOL, you devil girl :}.

solas said...

hi Lallie! good to see you!
And I think Kristen will do what she wants, if Rob wants, and the heck with the rest of the world. :-)
And I not only worry about what Rob would think about stuff here, but what his mother would think seeing some of it! And we know she reads everything! I am sure my son does so much that I don't want to know about, and I sure as heck would not want to see it written about or speculated about online. Again, treating others as we would want to be treated, etc.

Shani said...

@Solas, Hi, bottom line how we treat others as we would want to be treated was the impetus for my comment, made me realize it was true for whatever I say here. There can be silly, sexy fun and let them go at it. I'm not judging, in any way, I'm just more conservative and willing to let the gals have their time. I just come at it a bit differently, as do you. At the end of the day, we're all Robsessed for whatever reason.

solas said...

I have been noticing the ideas for films or franchises for Rob, but I would like to see him in something new and different, something involving psychological depth, such as a cop so undercover in the depths of the crime world, that he walks a precarous line of falling into it, or cracking; constantly trying to keep his own humanity and his wits to keep the facade so he doesn't betray himself. I would write such a script but although I can write of the pyschological end, I don't know enough of the crime or police world to write that all.
Somewhat similarly, someone close to me was undercover in special forces, forced to live a culture not what he believed, and had to live it believably 24-7; when he came home, he didn't know where his self was anymore; he had had to tuck it away for so long. He had prided himself for so long in being a chameleon, but he still is not back to being himself, as if the change could not be reversed fully. Obviously age and experience would affect a person, but I think just living the lie for so long, and knowing his life, as well as lives of so many others, depended on his living the lie, really twisted him. I know of people who survived the holocasut by living a lie for a long time as well, as seen in the film Europa Europa.
I think something along these lines would be an interesting challenge for Rob, more than spiderman or 007.

solas said...

ooh-- the New York Trilogy would be an interesting project!

lallieb said...

@Shani, very interesting info. I would really love to know if Rob ever, ever, peeked or lurked here. I think it might drive him nuts so he wouldn't come back very often ;)

Shani said...

Loisada- Excatly. I remember telling him that he was a fool showing us and the internet that pic of him with those liquor bottles on that table in front of him. LOL

I was like, you are going to get in so much trouble when Tom or one of your friends go and tell your parents. But I saw some old pics of him with a drink in his hand standing right beside Tom. So, oh well. LOL I don't know how old he is, but he looks underage. Even by England standard of being 17 to drink.

lalieb- I don't think he would come back here to often, either. It has only been three times last year when we thought it could have been him. We are too much for him to handle. LMAO

@nik - girl I love your input and it helps that you know something about the biz! I love that...soo mysterious.
I grew up not in the business but studying movies...when I would see one I liked I would go back and either see it again and again and again...or would try to remember as much as possible to pretend it when I got home. I would direct of course and make all my friends do what I said....

...yes! A Fangirl! I love Rob Pattinson sooooo much I think because guess what? He is both a dreamy boyfriend role model AND a good man role model good enough to be someones Dad! Yeah. I know. Weird. Well, hellllllooooo MS. 50 Shades! yeah, I'm finding out more and more things about myself as I age!

Soooo...yeah, the tp shot of Rob is not a very nice thing to publish on the web...and yeah I agree Nik he would most likely take a good ribbing from his mates and say, 'WTFawke?! awww Jesus Christ'! I can see his face as I'm sure we all can when we looked at this but it's Rob and seein' hows he's so damned independent...remember his Mom saying that he never liked to be told what to do or how to do it? this is one of those examples! probly doesn't want an assistant getting this kind of thing for him as well as his manties or socks...remember the mtv guest vj interview with that girl he was talking to way back when and she wanted to know what he did that day before coming in? 'Well, I'm still trying to figure out how to pay this parking ticket I got the other day. I bought some nail clippers...clipped my toenails!' he said on the air and she was so embarrassed and yet she seemed really in awe of him saying something like that. As we all were...I couldn't believe he was sayin' this stuff and he would also say how boring he was and that he mostly just reads alot , alot! he emphasizes and would love to finish the book he's started to write but that's when his career really took off with the twilight stuff and he says he still hasn't finished it...and prbly never will coz he's lazy he said and will prbly just think about it! he reads alot and will always make movies based on the novels he finds interesting and orginal screen plays right Nik did I say that right? And the pic ture of him with the black lab? here's title I can't believe none of you fangirls thought of as much as we all love his looks and movies we've seen....wait for it...'Beauty and The Beast'.
And yeah, all the check marks need to be gone over again, cause angie I think I forgot the butter and the whipped cream and the wheelbarrow! LOL@Angie's avi! and @nikola, you interpret things the way I think about them but can't say as eloquently as you 'coz of the damnable adhd or whatever it is that runs all me thot's aroun' in me 'ed so fast it's like a summer storm on the head of a pin, swirlin' in the cosmos at lightspeed! I just can't slow it down sometimes enough to get it all out in a proper cohesive meaning. but thanks you channel my thots beautifully! and I'm not being facitious or anything... Truly mean it;. also are there some of you girls who live in Oregon is that right? I heard there is no income tax taken out of your paycheck I need to know coz I'm moving there soon and would love this to be true but where does the other shoe drop if it is true? would love to know you guys can find my email on my blog on this site...or myspace! thanks love you girls this is the most fun I've had since the 80's!

He knows! he knows! Rob this is why we call you the destroyer and the savior!

lmjabara- Nope. That was during the time when Goz allowed people to post as Anonymous. That privilege was taken away because we had some people who were being really immature(possibly teens) and others who were causing a lot of drama. So it was like woman up and get an account so that we know who is who and how to trace you.

The first comment was at the time of that Nina interview. A "friend" who seemed to have quite the interesting insight on Rob and Nina's relationship popped up. Go and Goggle Nina and that Robsessed post will pop up.

The second time we were talking and this person named "curious" popped up and wanted to know "why we really liked Rob"? It was just the way this person asked that made us think it could have been him.

Then the third time an old Robsessed member who doesn't comment anymore got a major compliment by this person named "barkeep". That member use to speak so eloquently and could just perfectly describe her views on things. I can't remember "barkeep" said. But everybody freaked out that night. The comment was deleted so quick and before she even had a chance to reply back.

So those were the times we all went ummm...was that Rob? I don't know if there were any other times? Those were the times I was around. And I was around enough to know what was going on.

Shani said...

I meant to say that the moniker of "Anonymous" was later taken away. The first time we thought Rob posted or maybe it was Nina's friend it was "anonymous".

Part One:
Again, I'm a little late with the comments so no one might read mine.I've got a lot to say this time and I'll do it in bits. Sorry.

Ladies, I wish I could be as funny as some of you are; I admire it. I love the "James Wonky Bond" (Sorry, don't remember which of you said.)

So much to comment on:
@Fae: Yeah, I can't see or hear anything when I'm watching Rob either. It's sort of a Robsession give-away. He's definitey IN.

If I were to think Rob ever visited this site, I'd be a bit embarrassed for myself, not for honestly saying what I think, but for being so, well, beguiled. Now I'm a little inhibited, thinking that.

One thing I do not want to do is have him change into a self-absorbed narcissist contemptuous of women because we all think he's so great.

Because, no matter how good-looking a guy is, if I detect this attitude, one dismissive of others who idolize him in such an over-the-top way (like we do), or who exudes arrogance and contempt, -if I smell that on a man, I turn off completely. He becomes nothing. I turn the contempt back on them.
I've had a relationship with one such, and see it in some actors whom I will not now name.

Rob is not now like that, as far as I can tell. But he must think we're all nuts to be nuts about him. How could he understand? We don't even understand. (Someone enlighten me if you do.)

jessegirl said...

Part Two:
I think of those Mexican female fans, the video we saw recently, which was truly squirm-worthy. The whining, pathetic, pleading, high-pitched begging made me cringe. Dont' they have any pride? It disgusted me and I'm hardcore Rob fan. Getting respect is too important to me.

It must be so weird from his side. I think he needs his self-deprecation and grounding not only to survive the craziness, but also to remain moral. I sense he is centered enough for that. I hope so. I believe in him, but it feels weird expressing expectations like this (which are bigger expectations than quitting smoking, Solas).

This has been an interesting thread because Lallieb and Solas talk about the Golden Rule ('do unto others'...) and that is the bottom line, really.

Actors are chameleons; that's their job. They explore other lives by temporarily becoming them
(while we read novels and see movies about other characters).

Georges Duroy will be someone Rob can relate to, I imagine, because of the adulation he's now experiencing. Georges is desired by many women too. And the contempt Bel Ami feels for the women he uses might be a role which allows Rob to releasse some pent-up feelings of his own. Catharsis. Maybe. I don't know, I admit, but it's plausible.

CandyGirl mentioned that Georges is motivated by a fear of death and Solas said fear of hunger, similar fears surely. Nicola said he was a soulless creature.

jessegirl said...

Part Three:
Rob could learn a lot about becoming the best man he can be (I don't mean actor) from this role. It's a cautionary tale, even though the ending allows Georges to reap rewards for callous, immoral behaviour. It leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. It's the opposite of that Golden Rule we talked about earlier.

I hated Shampoo and thought the Warren Beatty character--whom I had no idea was a modern BelAmi--was disgusting.

Now Rob in the role is so entirely drool-worthy, as these photos prove, I'll watch him, as Fae says, as if nothing else existed. He could be so perfect.

I hope I don't seem like this moral prig, 'cause I can be a silent NB with the best of you--just not as funny, Nik, sadly--but some of you have gone to serious places today.

And we care about Rob way beyond just lusting. I read deep caring in your comments, sweet respect for his dignity and human person, and that is what I feel.

I think that's what makes Robsession so powerful; he is so unique and beautiful inside (from what we know) and we don't want him to change, to be 'spoiled', even though we do want him to grow. And we are all fiercley protective of him, don't want people to hurt him.

Oh, fuck, sorry for the length of this. I doubt any of you are still here to read it anyway.

@ Shani. Thanks, you are sweet. Yes, I know the 'old girls' had some crazy nights around here last year.
I don't mind a little dirty talk (obviously), and I really don't think Rob would bother to mind either - nor would his mom, regardless what some people think. They are smart enough to get the drift. :)
What I do not understand is when people think that can act as if they were 'his mother', patronizing him. It sounds kind of hypocrite to me, actually. We are here for the same reason: to talk about the guy we all love AND LUST. We all get horny with his pix, his accent, and... okay with all the package. It is perfectly healthy, btw (and it is healthy to admit it!) And, as you pointed out, guys talk a lot dirtier. I have two brothers and a son, and I know that.
Rob is not Edward!! Suprise! He f*s, he smokes and drinks a lot! He is a real guy!

The ONLY thing that holds back my comments from being really dirty is Gözde's border line. I do not want to upset her. It is her blog and I love it. If she tells me to delete any of my comments, I will - gladly. Otherwise, I won't.
And thank God I was born with sense of humor. Must be awful to live without it!

Well, I've had enough of this subject. I have tons of work and won't be around too much from now on anyway... classes will start after Carnaval, on the 22nd. And I have 300 hundred students to take care of. And I adore my job.
Have fun, Shani. Btw, I loooove your dirty avi!
;-D

@crazy vamp
I hope your comment about 'as if they were his mother', being patronizing and being hypocritical, was not aimed partially at me. But I think you would have told me if it were.

My quandry with my personal version of Robsession is expressed in some of the comments I made yesterday. We're here because we lust, that goes without saying.
But, even though we don't want to be 'cured', I for one would like a little inkling of understanding about what is happening to me.

Part of what is happening is lust, but, after seeing interviews with adorkable Rob, seeing his fear and surprise, etc. with what is going on, HIS lack of understanding, the protective feelings come out too. That is just as natural as the lust.

I hope none of my comments sounded patronizing. I absolutely have a lot of respect for him. I don't understand why I--and, I'm sure, a lot of people here do too--the feelings go beyond lust and his eye candy appeal. I think women instinctively look for more, even in celebrity hunks, and Rob is a complex and authentic guy (who teases, jokes and deflects deftly in interviews).

Anyway, I'm sorry if I said something to offend. I do not, in any way, feel like his mother, but I make comments about anybody's moral compass. I sense that Robert's is in fine working order and that he'll do well without any advice from us.

Yes, thanks a lot for posting this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygoyTIrIVe8&feature=related ; so damn hot; loved it!
What I don't understand is why they haven't kept the face expression of Edward when he saves Bella from the car accident; it was excellent and yet for the movie, the camera focuses on Bella's face!
Also, can someone tell me what movie is the love scene from? Haunted Airman? it's not even in any bonus. Gee I wish!

Crazy Vamp, you made me laugh so much with your comment about PT. I didn't expect it and I burst into laughing even tho I had a sore throat lol. Thank you so much; you're so funny!

@Jessegirl, no surprise, like your comments, thanks. Haven't noticed you here before but keep coming back.

Thanks, will do.
I'm just feeling my way around here.
Regardless of the lay of the land, (i.e., of how others here, or any where, feel), I am my own person.
I don't back down, unless I was misunderstood or inadverently hurt someone.

Must admit: Your vote of confidence helped. Returned to this pretty much dead-thread only to see if there was any fall-out.

I see there's been a lot of action since last night, esp. the Details photoshoot! Haven't looked at those threads yet. Should be something.
See ya.
